The multibillion-dollar adult porn entertainment industry of California has witnessed a halt. It is reported that more than half a dozen pornographers have stopped their production following claims that an actor has been tested positive for HIV.

However, the identity and gender of the actor who tested positive have not been divulged publically. In addition, a slew of more shutdowns are expected.

Steven Hirsch, the founder of Vivid, one of the largest makers of adult films on Wednesday posted, "From Vivid's perspective, there was no question that when we heard this, we immediately shut down production and said let's get the facts and evaluate them before we move forward”.

The infection test was performed by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation clinic. The clinic had conducted compulsory tests of over 1,200 actors from the industry every month.

Jennifer Miller, an HIV/STD counsellor at the clinic, has claimed that the all exposed partners to the individual are being tested and are being isolated to prevent any spread.

County public health officials and state occupational health officials have highlighted that the increasing use of acts without condoms on porn sets have rendered actors at a boosted risk of contracting HIV and other contagious diseases.
