In a Better World: Synopsis:
Anton is a doctor who commutes between his home in an idyllic town in Denmark, and his work at an African refugee camp. In these two very different worlds, he and his family are faced with conflicts that lead them to difficult choices between revenge and forgiveness.
Anton and his wife Marianne, who have two young sons, are separated and struggling with the possibility of divorce. Their older, ten-year-old son Elias is being bullied at school, until he is defended by Christian, a new boy who has just moved from London with his father, Claus. Christian’s mother recently lost her battle with cancer, and Christian is greatly troubled by her death.
Elias and Christian quickly form a strong bond, but when Christian involves Elias in a dangerous act of revenge with potentially tragic consequences, their friendship is tested and lives are put in danger. Ultimately, it is their parents who are left to help them come to terms with the complexity of human emotions, pain and empathy.
Movie Review;
To put it simply, IN A BETTER WORLD is about revenge. And we see this form of behavior happening all over the place so its theme couldn't be more relevant today. Al Qaeda bombed the World Trade Center in New York so the US attacked Afghanistan and Iraq. Israelis attacked the Palestinians. Palestinians attacked back. Indians attacked the Pakistanis. Pakistanis attacked back. And on and on it goes. The important question that is raised in IN A BETTER WORLD is: How far should you go when someone does you wrong? It is important to defend yourself when someone attacks you. This is what happened in IN A BETTER WORLD. At the beginning of the film, a bully picked on a weakling named Elias. The bully called him names and pushed him around. His friend, Christian, was horrified by Elias not standing up for himself so he took it upon himself to defend Elias. This is a recurring behavior of Christian throughout the movie. If a person did him or someone else wrong then he sought revenge. He did this with his father by accusing him of not loving his mother. He did this with a mechanic who struck Elia's father. And, as I said before, he did it with the bully who picked on Elias. Why does Christian have this vengeful nature? It could all stem to his mother's death. He probably felt cheated out that his mother died at a young age so he is now filled with hate and revenge. And if he sees any kind of injustice in the world, he fights back. The problem with Christian's thinking is that it's impossible to fight all the injustices in the world without incurring some consequences. And some of those consequences are horrible. Unfortunately, Christian has to learn this lesson the hard way. So, how far should you go when someone does you wrong? Go and see IN A BETTER WORLD to find out. Highly recommended.

RUBBER is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to prey on small desert creatures and various discarded objects, his attention soon turns to humans, especially a beautiful and mysterious woman who crosses his path. Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with, and truly a movie villain for the ages. Directed by legendary electro musician Quentin Dupieux (Steak, Nonfilm), aka Mr. Oizo, RUBBER is a smart, funny and wholly original tribute to the cinematic concept of “no reason.”

Movie Review:
by Bionic Antboy (Canada)
"The film you are about to see is an homage to 'no reason', that most powerful element of style." This is the manifesto that opens Rubber, delivered directly to the audience in a breaking of the fourth wall that is somewhat like taking a pound of dynamite to a pane of glass.
Rubber is a "horror" film about a black rubber car tyre that kills people by making their heads explode. With telepathy. And when I say "horror" I do of course mean "side-splittingly funny, pitch black, absurdist comedy." The opening scenes of Rubber are a deliberate assault on the separation between the audience and the film. Normally the opening sequence of a film seeks to bring you into the world of the film; the audience is encouraged to step through the silver screen and forget about the real world for the duration of the story. Rubber perverts these expectations. The film comes crashing through the screen, into the world of the audience. It reminds us at every turn that we are watching a film, and indeed that the very act of our watching is what makes the film happen.
There are actually two plot lines at work in Rubber. The first concerns a murderous inanimate object , an innocent but spirited young woman on the run from some troubled element of her past, and the county sheriff on the trail of the vulcanised psychopath. This is ostensibly the core thread of the movie, but we soon see that this action only serves as a literal distraction for the audience, who exist in the film, embodied as actual participants, though ones who remain clearly and distinctly removed from the action, watching events at a distance through field glasses. This distraction covers the real story, that of the sheriff, who is in fact the antagonist of the story, attempting to kill off the audience (through the manoeuvrings of his toady, The Accountant) so that the film can end and he can go home.
The movie within the movie begins with a sequence that could have come straight from Leone's scrapbook. A man lies face down in a desert. Slowly, he rises, and shakes himself off. He staggers along, and falls. He rises again, and continues to stagger on, through the endless desert. Except that the "man" in question is a rubber tyre (Roger, according to the credits). This is the brilliance of Rubber; that it can appropriate the cinematic language that we are so familiar with, and apply it to situations that cannot be anything but utterly absurd.
Other scenes lift from a variety of sources, including a sequence that takes place in what is clearly the Bates hotel from the original Psycho. For a film that claims to be dedicated to meaninglessness, it is ironic that not a single frame is without a clear purpose. Every shot serves to either ensconce us in the impossible world of a rubber tyre who murders people, or tear us forcibly out of it, as we return repeatedly to the plight of the poor audience, stranded in the desert with no food, and prey to depredations of a murderous cast member, or possibly character. It's never clear whether the antagonist is an actor who wants to stop playing his role, or a character in a story who wants the story itself to end; the latter appeals, if only for its deeply apocalyptic subtext. When the film ends, where does the character go?).
Even the choice of the supposed villain must have taken a great deal of thought. It's such an elegant choice; an object capable of locomotion, but without moving parts to cutely animate. Something that has an element of menace (after all, a tyre, attached to a vehicle, can do a lot of damage), but is also innately ridiculous. An object that can fulfill the emotive needs of the film yet has remarkably little capacity to emote. Consider that all this thing can do is roll forward, roll backwards, fall over, stand up, and vibrate its sides. That's a sum total of five things you can ask your star to do for you on screen. As a film-making challenge alone, that's a spectacular feat to undertake.
I could go on for days about the tiniest of "seemingly irrelevant but incredibly well thought out" details that litter the film. That Rubber invites such complex readings is a testament to the subtlety that underlies the simple brilliance of the film itself. Whatever you may think about the subtext and meaning of this supposedly meaningless film, it doesn't really matter if Rubber "means" anything or not, because whatever else it may be, the film is absolutely hilarious. We are talking literal "tears of laughter" funny here.
Quentin Dupieux provides us with excellent cinematography, full of lingering establishing shots and vivid, often deliberately off-frame close-ups, and the cast all turn in magnificent performances, especially Jack Plotnick, who demonstrates the ability to carry a scene from laugh out loud funny to deeply uncomfortable in a matter of seconds. The script is tightly written, and the humour builds on itself in layers, rising from the initial "WTF?" moments of nervous laughter to the farcical crescendo of the closing scenes, where every element of the film collides in a scene that, if nothing else, will mean that I'll never look at tricycles the same way again.
I could continue to pick at Rubber, pulling out detail after detail, examining each one in turn to find new facets, new thoughts and revelations. None of that really matters though; what you need to know is that Rubber is the strangest, funniest, and most dazzlingly original film you will see this year, and considering that Scott Pilgrim vs The World just came out, that's one hell of an achievement.

Movie Plot Summary:
A suburban family is torn apart when 14-year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents (Clive Owen and Catherine Keener) are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life.
Movie Review: by Michelle P (Toronto, Canada)
I had the privilege to be among the first in North America to screen David Schwimmer's latest film last night at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with cast members including Clive Owen and Catherine Keener (two of my favourite actors) present as well as the director, Schwimmer himself.
Before the screening, the former "Friends" star provided some valuable context for the film, sharing his personal connection to the topic. It was enlightening to learn that he himself is a dedicated advocate for survivors of sexual assault/abuse and has spent a great deal of time working and interacting with the families impacted, because the film was executed with such a sensitivity and deep psychological understanding around the difficult topic.
Before delving into my review let me just say upfront (for those who are quickly trying to decide whether or not to see this) that this is a good movie, and yes you should see it.
I also went into this film not knowing its rating and I can assure you, that while the subject is very heavy and there are some disturbing scenes and some violence, there is nothing here so sexually graphic that it is too uncomfortable to watch - even my husband who I would consider to be a "sensitive" viewer did not find the film to be graphic.
"Trust" is the kind of movie that relies heavily upon the plausibility of its dialogue and the believability of its actors. If the script was poorly written or the innumerable emotional scenes poorly acted, the whole thing might have been a disaster for Schwimmer.
Instead, Kenner and Owen turned in Oscar-worthy performances that invited viewers into their home, their marriage and their suffering. Under great direction, Owen led his character through a roller-coaster of emotions that was accessible to viewers, as we shared in his character's progression through anger, grief and understanding.
Not to be overlooked, and the true star of this film, is the young Liana Liberato who plays the daughter and the victim with such authenticity that it was at some times painful to watch. Not enough can be said about how incredible she was in this film - I think the career she has ahead of her will speak for itself.
Of course, the best acting in the world would have been wasted if the screenplay was weak, but with Robert Festinger (who wrote the screenplay for "In the Bedroom") on board, you can expect a convincing storyline and dialogue that felt real.
At times, the film comes dangerously close to being cliché or cheesy like a television drama or TV movie-of-the-week. And this is almost inevitable when trying to make a cautionary drama with the underlying objective of raising awareness around a societal issue. However any time you feel the film beginning to veer down this path, it is rescued by the incredible acting and you forget once more that you are watching a film. Even the ending which I thought at first was a bit overly sentimental, quickly took an unexpected and dark turn that, for me, restored its credibility.
This is a powerful and very important film, not just for families but also for David Schwimmer's career because now the sitcom actor-turned- director has established himself as a serious and very capable dramatic filmmaker who is not afraid to take on challenging material.
I'm not sure how well "Trust" will do outside of the film festival or if it would appeal to mass audiences, however I do hope people see it, especially those who care about this important issue.
I would definitely watch a David Schwimmer film again in the future - he has legitimate talent behind the camera and should he make more marketable movies in the future, he might actually make it big as a director.
I give this movie a solid 8 out of 10. Congratulations to Schwimmer and your team on this great accomplishment. And, as a woman and caring citizen, thank you for telling this story.

Movie Plot Summary:
After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.
More Info »
In the outlandish dark comedy Super, James Gunn has created what is perhaps the definitive take on self-reflexive superheroes.
When sad-sack loser Frank (Rainn Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler) willingly snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), he finds himself bereft and wholly unable to cope. But soon he decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY superhero called Crimson Bolt. With a hand-made suit, a wrench, and a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page), the Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife. The rules were written a long time ago: You are not supposed to molest children, cut lines or key cars; if you do, prepare to face the wrath of the Crimson Bolt!
Movie Review:
Despite enjoying other films like it, I was never a fan of James Gunn's Slither. It just came off as being average to me, and despite multiple tries, I have never ventured back to give it a second chance. Keeping that in mind, I ventured into a screening of Super at the Toronto International Film Festival hoping to be surprised, and not to come away disappointed. Thankfully, it turned out to be quite the awesome surprise.
Frank D'Arbo (Rainn Wilson) lives a pretty miserable existence. He has just two happy memories in his entire life – marrying his wife Sarah (Liv Tyler) and pointing a police officer in the right direction of a suspect. So when Sarah, a stripper and former junkie, leaves him for her boss Jacques (Kevin Bacon), he loses all faith. But during a chance epiphany, he realizes his true calling is to be a superhero – the Crimson Bolt – and fight against those committing any sort of crime, whether it be drug dealing, underage rape or even butting in-line at the movies.
While I figured the film would have a hurdle to face making it feel different than any other movie about ordinary people donning costumes and fighting crime (in the past few years alone, see Special, Defendor, Kick-Ass and to a point, even Batman Begins and The Dark Knight), but Super is a much different beast. From the epilogue through the totally ridiculous (in a good way) animated song and dance credit sequence on, you know you are in for something different. This is a film that embraces the absurd and the full-blown psychopathic, and delivers a twistedly hilarious comic gem that lacks the seriousness (mostly) that plagues the other films previously mentioned. And any movie about someone using a pipewrench to wreak havoc on crime is immediately enough to make me forget Defendor even existed.
I think the element that sets Gunn's twisted fantasy apart from other films is that it is decidedly not mainstream. D'Arbo truly becomes the superhero we all wish we were by taking out anyone who is committing crimes. He has the vendetta against Jacques taking his wife hanging over his head throughout the movie, but in the meantime, he ensures that no crime goes unpunished – in increasingly graphically violent ways. I knew that using a pipewrench could only lead to a bloody mess, but I did not expect the movie to become the nasty bloodbath it quickly does. If you remember being disappointed at how much blood got cut between the conversion of Kick-Ass from a comic to a film, you will be delighted at just how much is spilt here. I knew Gunn was a graduate of the Troma film academy (Lloyd Kaufman makes a cameo late in the film), but I never expected to see just as much violence as I did. Thankfully, every injury and blood spurt is more hilarious and ridiculous than the last.
Wilson is amazing from start to finish as D'Arbo. I have never been a fan of his zany humour, but it fits this role perfectly. He jumps from being the pathetic loser to being the invigorated crime fighter with ease. And despite playing the role seriously, you never once think he is descending into parody. The film is a parody, but he never hams it up in the role deliberately looking for laughs. He has a very strong comic presence that he maintains throughout the film, and brings a rather poignant touch to more than a few scenes. If he sticks to more roles like these, and stays away from being the best thing in downright awful movies like The Rocker and My Super Ex-Girlfriend, he might have quite the career ahead of him.
The supporting cast is all very good and very funny in their smaller roles. Bacon is just as good as he always is, injecting the right amount of style and finesse into his scumbag of a character. Tyler could have done a bit more as the damsel in distress, but she remains quite memorable in her role. Smaller turns by Gregg Henry, Michael Rooker and especially Nathan Fillion all pay off wonderfully within the film. But if anyone can even stand close to Wilson's performance, it is Ellen Page as the off-the-rails comic nerd Libby. While she has found fame playing Juno and derivatives of the same character in the majority of her roles, she actually is quite different here. She alternates between being anxiety-ridden and being a complete psychopath, often in the same scene, and practically steals the film from Wilson. And when she finally becomes his sidekick Boltie, she truly is able to embrace the absurd.
If I have any problem with the film (outside of a rather bizarre and horrendous looking CGI sequence early in the film), it is that it never stays consistent with its tones. The humour remains intact throughout, but its absurdity starts to waver as the film goes on. It remains ridiculous, but it becomes a bit too serious in some sections. It feels more like Gunn did not want to truly push the film into the realm of comic fantasy, and still wanted some semblance of realism to stay within the film. He explained his tonal shift choices to the audience, but it still is not enough to make up for the film never knowing which way it wants to go. I loved its unpredictability of what D'Arbo would do next, but loathed never knowing what the next shift would be. It never destroys the film, but it weakens the film cohesively.
Super is an awesome film, and one whose dark humour never truly overtakes it. Wilson and Page are amazing in their roles, and the rest of the supporting cast does a great job backing them up. I just hope everyone can experience and have as much fun as I did.

While, the entire country including the expressed their love for the nation during the India vs Paksitan match at Mohali yesterday, actress Sonakshi Sinha couldn't help but did the same like any normal Indian.
In her usual playful and excited mood Sonakshi posted a photo shopped picture of an Indian cricketer hitting Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi by a bat on her micro blogging site. In the meantime the actress forgot that she is a public figure and anything like this will hurt the feelings of her fans from Pakistan. She even titled the picture as “De ghumaaaaake! Hehehehahahaha.”
Immediately after her post, she started getting all disappointed posts from her Pakistani fans. One of them read, “Sonakshi just because of this cheap act of yours . . . Actress Kangana Ranaut can only share actor Abhishek Bachchan's agony. Well, do not mistake it for being anything else. Here we are talking about Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming film Department. The film will feature Kangana as Abhishek's soul-mate and wife.
The filmmakers says that Kangana is the only strong female character in the film Department. She is the only person who can share, the agony of Abhishek's character. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt as the third lead in the film.
RGV met Kangana, on Monday and finalised the role with her. Varma was very keen on working with Kangana. He feels that the actress is very intense and emotional on-screen. He found that the female lead in his film Department, suited her best.
The Department is dark, gritty and real drama, which has three cops and the extra-constitutional activities that they implement to make the society more civil and a better place to live in. Kangana has a major role in the film and her character is an intense one.
The duo, Kangana and Abhishek will also be seen in the upcoming film Game.

Comedian Russell Brand, who gave up drugs, alcohol and sex addiction after the treatment, has revealed that the hero in his latest movie Arthur is a very different drunk than he was. The Hollywood funnyman used to carry bottles of alcohol and sniffed them to get in character, which reminded him of his wild night-outs.
The film Arthur is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name. Russell Brand, Dame Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner in the leads. The upcoming comedy flick is all about a drunkard and wild playboy, who stands to lose a wealthy inheritance when he falls for a woman his family does not like.
Russell Brand is playing Arthur Bach in the movie. The funnyman, who himself was a drunkard like Arthur a couple of years ago, says that he enjoyed the role utmost. But he denies he is not exactly like Arthur. “Arthur is a very different drunk than I was. He's like a fun-loving drunk, I was like a miserable, moany smackhead,” The Sun quoted Russell as saying.
Although the actor no longer drinks, he found it easy to play the drunkard. His role reminded him of the extreme nights out. He says, "On set I'd carry a bottle of Courvoisier, or tequila, I'd smell different boozes depending on how drunk I wanted to be in the film then remember mad nights slumped outside pubs in north London and waking up on a sofa drenched in wee wee.”

Troubled singer Britney Spears has a reason to smile again. Her latest album Femme Fatale was released yesterday (March 29) with much fanfare. The good news is that the critics have praised the album to heavens.
The dance pop album, which consisted of 12 tracks, would make her fans and music lovers hit the dance floor. Ian Drew, senior music editor at Us magazine rated the album with a four star. “Femme Fatale is definitely Britney's strongest album overall,” MTV quoted Ian Drew as saying. “ The songs speak for themselves; it's unapologetically a great dance pop album,” he added.
“It works for her because it shows that she can continue to produce really solid material. This is a totally strong cohesive album,” MTV quoted Entertainment Weekly correspondent Adam Markowitz, as saying. He gave the album a solid B+. “There's no looking at this album and not seeing a lot of craftsmanship on it. I think it's a great showcase for her personality and her vocal styles. She sounds really lively on the album,” he added.
Britney Spears has come a long way ever since she released her debut album 'Hit Me Baby One More Time', which made her an international star overnight. Since then, he has released albums like 'Oops!...I Did It Again', 'Britney', 'In The Zone', 'Blackout' and 'Circus'. However, she seems to have scaled a new height with her seventh album Femme Fatale, as it has won the hearts of the critics.

The singer, who got engaged to Sam last Christmas, has chosen a rural-themed wedding. They have sent out invitations with their mocked pictures on a tractor, accompanied by the words - 'Save the date for the wedding of Lily and Sam. Saturday June 11th 2011 Gloucestershire... Invitation to follow'.
The farm-themed wedding is an indication that Lily would live a quiet life with her soon-to-be-hubby Sam, who is a building firm boss. She had earlier said that she wants to get married, have kids and make sandwiches.

It has emerged that the 'Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice was allegedly punched in the face during a bar brawl while vacationing with the cast in the Dominican Republic last month. Several of her cast were also locked up in police custody following the brawl. The February 23 bar brawl at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana is alleged to have started when Giudice opened a bottle of champagne and sprayed it around the hotel bar, soaking other guests, reports Radaronline.com.
"It was late, they were on vacation, and she was just having fun," said a show insider. "She opened the champagne and just started spraying it everywhere and it went all over this woman near her," show insider added.
According to the source, the drenched woman's husband did not take kindly to the rowdy group and physically attacked Teresa. "It was crazy, he got really angry and punched Teresa in the face!" said the source.
All the cast members partied at their hotel bar at about 1 am on February 23, including Caroline and her husband Albert, Jacqueline and Chris Laurita, Teresa and Joe Giudice, newcomers Kathy and Richy Wakile, Joey and Melissa Gorga, the Manzo children (Chris, Albie, and Lauren) and roommate Gregory Bennett.
"Joe, Albie and Chris were trying to protect Teresa and they just grabbed the guy and started fighting, and then people joined in. Bravo helped to break up the fight," added the source. But it turned physical with about eight people involved, police told RadarOnline.com. "Usually when there's a fight we take one guy, but this time we took everybody," said the police representative.

actor shiney ahuja, shiney ahuja 7 years jail, shiney ahuja film career, mumbai high court, charges of raping, maid servant, ipc section 376, sexually assaulted, hazaaron khwaishein aisi, gangster, khoya khoya chand, fanaa, woh lamhe, pritish nandy, the accident, tito singh, har pal, puja bedi, shunya, preity zinta, filmmaker mahesh bhatt, kalyani prasad keshri
Finally, the decision has been taken. Actor Shiney Ahuja is convicted to seven years in jail by a Mumbai High Court, on the charges of allegedly raping his 20-year-old maid servant. The actor was on a bail from October 2009 and was externed from Mumbai city.
Shiney was arrested on June 15 (2009) after it was confirmed by a preliminary medical tests that the girl was sexually assaulted. He was charged under IPC Section 376 for rape, wrongful restraint and intimidation. However, Ahuja never agreed to the charges and always insisted that he is innocent. After hearing the verdict on Wednesday, the actor broke down in the court room.
Shiney who made a successful debut with the film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and later being critically acclaimed for his roles in films like Gangster, Khoya Khoya Chaand, Fanaa, Woh Lamhe, etc, has lost his worth in the film industry.
Reportedly, Shiney who has been grilling under this rape case since last two years (2009), is presently not more than 25 crores of worth in the entertainment world. In this last two years after he got convicted, the actor had only three small films in his hands, which included Pritish Nandy's The Accident, Tito Singh's Har Pal and Puja Bedi's Shunya.
A trade analyst of the cinema world told TOI, “Shiney Ahuja's absence will not be felt in the film industry. Even at the time of his arrest he was not really at the peak of his career. The only decent film he had was with Preity Zinta who was big then. After this sentence nobody would really want to work with him. It's pack-up time for him."
The producer of Shiney's film Har Pal, Tito Singh is shocked with the news as there were a few patch work shoots which are still pending. He is planning to sit with the director and work out the statistics.
When, Shiney was externed from the city he stayed limited to Delhi and shot and dubbed for Pritish Nandy's film The Accident. Nandy says that he was hoping for a positive turn after the verdict, but disappointed he will now have to release the film.
Looking back at the other stars who were also involved in serious legal cases, like Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, who have made back to stardom again, it will be very difficult for Shiney to have a come back in the industry. Salman and Sanjay, were established stars, who have a huge fan following. However Shiney was still struggling to make it big in the film industry. Though his talent had been appreciated by people, he was still in a pre-mature state when it comes to attaining stardom.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who gave Shiney his biggest hit with the film Gangster says, "We are in the illusion manufacturing industry. Now it will be difficult for the audience to view his screen persona without being reminded of this heinous crime (rape). This verdict is a body blow to his film career. However, there is hope. The higher court can reverse this verdict."
Will, people overlook Shiney's heinous crime and accept him as an actor on the silver screen, or has his filmy career gone for a toss, is something that will be discovered in the times to come.
