Killing Pablo is directed by Joe Carnahan, based on the book Killing Pablo:
The Hunt for the World's Greatest Outlaw by Mark Bowden, the true story of the death of Pablo Escobar. The film has been in development for several years but is set to begin filming in early 2010.
The true story of how the Colombian gangster, Pablo Escobar, was assassinated and his Medellin cocaine cartel dismantled by US special forces and intelligence, the Colombian military, and a vigilante gang controlled by the Cali cartel.

Bob Yari has placed the releasing division of his Yari Film Group into Chapter 11 reorganization.
The move to seek bankruptcy protection was compelled by a court order, according to a statement by the “Crash” producer. The legal procedure was prompted after Yari came out on the losing end of legal actions by four creditors. Employees learned the news Friday when Yari distributed an internal email apprising them of the situation.
In an acknowledgement of the reorganization, Yari cited a “perfect storm” of tightening credit markets and the Axium bankruptcy, which swept millions of dollars from its payroll accounts. As a result, Yari Film Group’s releasing division began what the company called “substantial layoffs” and the suspension of its releasing activities.
Staffers were shocked by the development.
“Our goal is to aggressively work toward reorganizing our debt so that we can become a stronger company,” Yari said. “In the meantime, our production arms are distinct entities with separate financing which remain unaffected by the legal proceedings. We will go on functioning, making new films, covering our payroll and paying for employee benefits.”
Yari Film Group said that it is moving forward with limited award qualification releases of “What Doesn’t Kill You,” which opened Friday in New York and L.A., and “Nothing But the Truth,” which will be put into qualifying release this week in the two cities.
Yari said he hopes to continue making progress toward starting production on two other projects: the Joe Carnahan-directed “Killing Pablo” and “The Governess.”

Movie Review: Gentlemen Broncos:
How many times in one movie can a popcorn ball be funny?
There's something a little tired about Gentlemen Broncos, another tale of geeks and losers from Napoleon Dynamite filmmaker Jared Hess.
This newest revenge of the nerds outing involves plagiarism, bad science fiction and Flight of the Conchords' star Jemaine Clement; much as that sounds like a recipe for success, the movie is oddly mean-spirited. You're invited to laugh at the oddball characters, not with them.
Michael Angarano stars here as a home-schooled dweeb named Benjamin Purvis. With a hug and kiss from his weirdo mom (Jennifer Coolidge), Benjamin is off to a special writer's workshop camp.
On the bus to camp he makes friends with an obnoxious girl called Tabatha (the gifted Halley Feiffer), who demands hand massages and money for tampons. She and her buddy Lonnie (Hector Jimenez) talk about their novels and video projects, leaving Benjamin feeling very inferior. Still, he allows her to read his most important work, Yeast Lords.
(Scenes from Yeast Lords, an overwrought piece of juvenile sci-fi, are acted out in wildly stupid fantasy sequences that star Sam Rockwell, along with flying stags and various cyclops.)
At camp, Benjamin is thrilled to discover that his favourite writer, Dr. Ronald Chevalier (Jemaine Clement) will be giving a talk on character names. Vaguely new age and a legend in his own mind, Chevalier is a pompous git made fully three dimensional by Clement's spectacular performance.
As it happens, Dr. Chevalier hasn't written anything worth publishing in ages.
Then he gets his hands on Yeast Lords, and all that changes. Benjamin is about to get life lessons in plagiarism, bad home movies and motherly wisdom.
Gentlemen Broncos is constructed of endlessly awkward moments and ungainly people, including Mike White as a sort of perverse big-brother character and John Baker as a gun-toting lecher. Only Jemaine Clement and Sam Rockwell make their characters seem alive, which suggests performance can trump weak writing, but nobody really gets out of this thing with anything approaching grace. (And haven't we seen Jennifer Coolidge as this good-hearted wacko before? As the mom, Coolidge designs nightgowns and makes popcorn balls for extra cash, all no doubt intended to make her look eccentric. Instead, she just seems pathetic.)
Lest we forget, Gentlemen Broncos contains the requisite number of gross-out visual jokes, most of them involving bodily functions.
Barf, nerds, other weird outcasts, embarrassing adults and awkward art -- all the de rigueur parts are here for a loser comedy.
Well, all except heart.

Not that much impatient to see the movie Jonah Hex, but I guess it will still be an entertaining movie at least…

Movie Detail And Story:
Nannavanu' by director Sreenivasa Raju is neither an intense love story nor a reincarnation story. It is just an ordinarily narrated story with too many cliched elements.
The first half of the film really tests your patience. What is supposed to be comedy is nothing but a senseless narrative of crude jokes. When you feel that the second half is coming to grips, you are subjected to more torture in the form of a rather unconvincing flashback.
You feel terribly disappointed watching this film as it does not have a credible story or a believable script, but only confused sequences. Raju should have worked hard on the script instead of adding illogical sequences in his screenplay.
The only consolation is that there is not much gore and bloodshed in the film despite it being a reincarnation revenge drama.


Music director Ilayaraja has created two pleasing members. Komal, who plays a comic role, tries to evoke some laughter in his sequences, but they are not well-written either.
In the film, Bharadwaj is a young advocate who gets only silly, petty cases, adding to the comedy quotient. And then he gets a big case for a fee of Rs.50 crore from Sanjana, who has nightmares about her death in her previous birth.
Later it is revealed that Sanjana and Bharadwaj were lovers in their previous birth and were killed by the present chief minister of the state. In a courtroom drama, Bharadwaj gets to the bottom of the truth and wins Sanjana's heart as the two lovers get united in this birth too.
To be fair to Prajwal, one must say that he has shown sparks of talent in the film. He comes out with a decent performance. Aindrita is a good choice for the role and she ad to the glamour quotient.
Music maestro Ilayaraja has composed two good songs in 'Muththuththaare Muththamma' and 'Hey Maamu'.
'Nannavanu' is an ordinary fare. You can maybe watch it once for the pair of Prajwal and Aindrita.


Nannavanu Music Review:
Recently, a weekly magazine suggested that Ilaiyaraaja is clearing his old stocks by signing Kannada films at will. But listening to the songs of Nannavanu, you will know that that report is false; because Ilayaraja’s old stock must have been far better than what he has dished out here in Nannavanu! The album is average; and although a couple of songs painfully bring back the memories of Ilaiyaraaja’s old glory, they cannot save the album from being what it is; average.Ilaiyaraaja has seen better days.Denna Dennana: Just one look into this song and you’ll understand why A. R Rahmnan nudged out Ilaiyaraaja from his musical empire in Tamil film industry. In spite of his musical genius, Ilaiyaraaja usually misses a beat or two when to comes to score the fast numbers; a blemish that was exploited gleefully by Rahaman. Vijay Yesudas’ incongruous voice doesn’t help this track either.Devadhi Deva: Surprise surprise! Ilaiyaraaja is now in his familiar terrain with SPB rendering a classical number. The song is ok, but surprisingly lacks that magical touch of Ilaiyaraaja. Not much playing around with the instruments and not much pleasant deviations in the tune either. A “Me too” track.Enidu Enidu: Ilaiyaraaja is back! This peculiar tune with trademark Ilaiyaraaja instrumentation kindles up the lost hope in you. The world is beautiful once again. Sriram and Bela, the singers of this track do exactly what is told to them. Nothing less, nothing more.
Hey Mamu: The analysis used in the Denna Dennana applies for this too. There is one little difference though. The combination of Tippu, Vijay Yesudas and Kartik make the song sound a lot better than it actually is.Modalane Bari: The song opens with great promise, but the track loses its ‘track’ as it progresses, with only the rhythmic beats holding it together till the end. SPB and Bela do their best, and succeed somewhat. You’ll love this song (and in many ways, this album) only if you are a diehard fan of Ilaiyaraaja.Muttuttara Muttamma: This is the best track in the album, although Ilaiyaraaja’s nasal singing (especially in high pitch) makes sure that you do not add it to your favorites list as yet. But the rhythm, the foot tapping tune and the repeat value are all there. Bela gets it right this time like never before in this album. Enjoy.Om Shivoham: The first few seconds of this song convince you that this is a song of some man-eating tribe who have manifested from the deep jungles of Amazon forests. But fret not; SPB soothes you down with his devotional words. But not for long, as this is probably the most forgettable song of this album as even the evergreen SPB is made to look bad here.
