However, it was for a noble cause when the actor on his Twitter page requested his fans to come forward to donate whatever they can to help a professor called Sandeep Desai, for building a school in rural Maharashtra.

The fans also responded immediately and donated generously for the Mission of Desai. The star power of Salman was so powerful that Desai received immediate response.

Salman later, posted on the micro-blogging site that he is receiving lots of tweets from his fans, who have deposited money for the good cause. He added that one student has even donated his entire pocket money of Rs 2000 for the sake of Salman.

Salman was so touched by his fans efforts that he again tweeted saying that he wanted people to donate the little extra they have. He requested them not to get carried away by his appeal.

The Dabangg star informed through his tweets that Professor Sandeep Desai has been travelling between Churchgate and Goregaon railway stations only to collect funds for a partly built English medium school in Ratnagiri. Be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala Salman Khan face back again, and is in talks with Ramesh Tauran for the race-2 with Saif Ali Khan. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham.

It is now known that Farah Khan and Shirish, Joker Sonakshi have an interest in his film. A business consultant, said “Sonakshi was largely accepted in the film.

However, they are still working on details such as price and dates.” Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is annoyed that some media have said it’s Joker. A source close to Deepika said, “Deepika did not even come close to Joker.

Not that she is not willing to work with Akshay, Farah and Shirish. But she is concerned about the information, since none of them approached her.

During the shoot of Farah Khan’s film Tees Maar Khan, the idea of another film sprouted. Farah’s editor-husband planned Joker with Akshay Kumar in the lead, which the star will also co-produce. But here is the real problem? Who will play the female lead. Salman Khan has started pushing Sonakshi Sinha’s name.

The buzz has it that both Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are in the running for the role. If Kat has expressed her desire to be in the film to Akki, Deepika is the natural choice. The new twist is that Sallu is recommending Sonakshi; the starlet is the new ‘it’ thing in Bollywood and is already there for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick due to Sallu’s reference.

Australian blunder over wrong Next Top Model

SYDNEY: The showpiece finale of a popular Australian reality modelling show ended in a toe-curling blunder when the wrong winner was announced on live television.

Australia's Next Top Model's two finalists had already made their winner's and loser's speeches when presenter Sarah Murdoch, daughter-in-law of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, revealed the mix-up.

"Oh my God, I don't know what to say right now. I'm feeling a bit sick about this," Murdoch said during Tuesday's broadcast. "This is what happens on live TV, folks. This is insane, insane, insane."

A bewildered Amanda Ware, 18, finally accepted the award and made a brief victory sashay down the catwalk, as 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich took the bizarre defeat gracefully.

"It's an honest mistake, it's fine," she said, consoling the red-faced Murdoch.

Broadcaster Foxtel blamed the error on a "miscommunication" between backstage operators, and offered Martinovich a cash gift and a trip to New York as compensation.

Local media rated the error as one of the most embarrassing moments on Australian TV. "And the next top model is... no, wait a second," headlined the Daily Telegraph.

Judge Alex Perry later denied the incident was a publicity stunt to boost the show's ratings.

"I would stake my life on it," he told Sydney's 2DayFM radio.

"There's no way that she (Murdoch) would do that. I think you saw that the instant that she knew something was wrong, you could see it in her eyes, that wasn't lying, that wasn't acting."

The first and the last Hindi film to be shot there was Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk To China.

Shekhar scoping China for Paani

MUMBAI: Shekhar Kapoor has been sneaking off to China a bit too frequently these days. And the latest buzz is that he is making these trips for shooting his futuristic epic Paani there.

Shooting in Mumbai is now ruled out since the plot of Shekhar’s film requires the director and his art director to construct a futuristic Mumbai with two sharply demarcated sections: The Upper City (for the elite with abundant water supply) and The Lower City (for the poor). Love and conflict ensue when the boy from the Lower City sneaks into the forbidden Upper City.

Apparently, Shekhar has visited China at least thrice already this year. So, ruling out possibilities of him finalizing locations for Paani in China, is difficult. The first and the last Hindi film to be shot there was Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk To China.

To top it all, Shekhar Kapoor doesn’t discount the fact that Paani may be shot in China. Says the director, “I’d shoot Paani anywhere where I’d get the intellectual and geographical space to build my city of a water-challenged future. At the moment, we’re exploring the modalities and the feasibility of the venue for shooting.

I am definitely starting Paani next year. We’re fully into the pre-production stage. This film needs a lot of preparation. I’ll formally announce the cast only after all the other details are in place.”

Spain had also opened its doors to Shekhar for Paani. But it seems the visionary in the director had already taken a liking to China by then.

Says a source close to the director, “Shekhar has actually found a paradise in China. It’s a vacation sanctuary near the Great Wall of China run by an Indian, who has now become one of Shekhar’s closest friends.”

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader comes to theaters December 10th, 2010

Michael Apted Talks The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Down Treader
September 29th, 2010

Ben Barnes as King Caspian and Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie

When The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, based on the extremely popular fantasy series by author C.S. Lewis, hit theaters in 2005 it was an instant smash and made $745 million worldwide. It's popularity inevitably led to the making of a sequel, 2008's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. But when that film failed to have the financial success of its predecessor, it's distributor Walt Disney Pictures opted not to be involved in any further films, leaving the series' producer, Walden Media, to find a new company to partner with. Enter 20th Century Fox, who announced a joint venture with the studio in 2006. After Disney's exiting from the series, Fox decided to pick up the distribution rights for the third film of the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 3D on December 10th.

Earlier this week, we were lucky enough to get invited to the Fox lot in Los Angeles to be amongst the first people to see a sneak peak of some of the amazing, yet unfinished, footage from the upcoming film. On hand was director Michael Apted, who, in addition to being the former president of the Director's Guild of America, is an accomplished filmmaker in his own right with such classic films as Coal Miner's Daughter, Gorky Park, Gorillas in the Mist, Class Action, Thunderheart, The World Is Not Enough and Amazing Grace under his belt.

Before we screened the footage from the film, which was almost thirty minutes of the upcoming movie, Apted spoke about making the film. "It's a beautiful book and I have been asked often if I read the book while I was growing up to which I say, no ... the books weren't written yet when I was growing up," the director laughed. "They are typically books that you can read to your children every night, one chapter a night. It doesn't quite have that dramatic thrust to it that it needs for a film and it took us a long time to really nail that. The tone of the book is quite different than the one before it, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The pressure was on us to go back to Narnia, the color of it all, the magic of it all and in a sense recreate what Andrew (Adamson) had done with the first one so we had to go back and sort of revise that," he explained.

Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie

"From a directing point of view the story is rather difficult to keep consistent," Apted continued. "These are real children, on a real adventure and often in real danger with a real evolution in the end. But the places they go and the people they meet are incredibly fantastic, so you have to keep a level of realism to it and engage the audience." The director spoke further about the difficulty of making this sequel. "Another of the big challenges was to really honor the book because the book has a spiritual quality to it that I feel is important. Hopefully it is a spiritual thing that is accessible to everyone. It's about another world and I think in this day and age it is not a bad message to be giving to people who are growing up. The growing up part of it is very important for me because I think it is a universal story," he explained. "It's a story that has English roots but its relatable to every child on the planet because its about growing up, finding yourself, coming to terms with yourself and knowing what your values are, that is really the heart of this film. Those were the two things really that we had to be careful of and I had to be very watchful of honoring the book." Apted, who is known more as an "actors director" and for making smaller dramatic films also discussed the personal challenges for him as a director making this movie. "We shot the film in Australia and London and for me it was a monumental challenge because I had never done anything like this. I did a "Bond" film but this was much more complicated than that and I think if I hadn't done the "Bond" film I couldn't have done this," the director admitted.

With no more further ado, Apted introduced the material. "So that in a way is an introduction to the film. The first thing we are going to see is the first ten minutes of the movie and if I need to introduce that then I'm in trouble," he joked. The film begins by reintroducing us to the youngest of Pevensie children, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), who now are back in London and living with their bratty cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter), who does not believe in Narnia and his cousins fantastic stories. Edmund and Lucy desperately miss Narnia and before too long notice a painting of a ship, which looks like it is moving.

Through a series of events, the water from the painting overflows and all three children find themselves swimming in the ocean back in Narnia. The ship from the picture of course is The Dawn Treader, which belongs to the now King Caspian and the Pevensie children are delighted to be reunited with their friends. Eustace on the other hand is not used to these strange surroundings and just wants to go home, especially as he begins to have a conflict with Reepicheep, a brave talking mouse who was first introduced in the previous film and his voiced by comedian Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz). The children eventually agree to help Caspian on his journey to save Narnia from evil by retrieving the swords of the seven lords, good men that his evil uncle Miraz banished when he took over the throne.

The Helm of the Dawn Treader in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

While we don't want to spoil too much of the rest of the film for you we did have a chance to watch a few more wonderful scenes which included a duel between Edmund and Reepicheep, Lucy's discovery of a magic book, a magnificent Dragon, the film's dramatic conclusion and of course, the return of Asian, the series' signature Lion who is once again voiced by Liam Neeson (Taken). The footage that we were shown, while not in 3D and with some final effects work still needed before its release was none the less very impressive and showed many signs of hope for the struggling franchise.

In fact, if the final product is anything like what we saw, fans of the first film as well as the series of books will be delighted to know that the magic that made the original movie so popular is back intact in this one. One of the best parts of the footage that we saw, besides the incredibly real looking dragon, was the relationship between the unlikable Edmund and Reepicheep. While Edmund is completely unlikable at the beginning, through his relationship with Reepicheep the character is redeemed and Poulter perfectly plays both sides of that coin. In fact, the last scene we watched involved Edmund saying goodbye to his new best friend, Reepicheep, and when you finally see the movie I dare you to keep a dry eye as that relationship is the emotional core of the film.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader comes to theaters December 10th, 2010 and stars Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Will Poulter, Bill Nighy, Gary Sweet, Arthur Angel, Tony Nixon. The film is directed by Michael Apted.

The Story:
34 year old Jin Man (Han Suk Kyu, better known for his macho roles in The Scarlet Letter and Tell Me Something) used to run a large labor union but now stays at home whilst his wife goes out to work everyday. He is a good cook and housekeeper and dedicates his life to looking after their young daughter. However, when he gets caught out in a confidence scam and loses all the money he had put aside for his father-in-law’s operation, Jin Man takes desperate measures. Slipping on a dress he applies to take part in the TV game show “Quiz Show For Wives,” in the hope of winning the jackpot. Quiz King (Directed by Yoo Seon-dong, starring Han Seok-Kyu, Sin Eun-kyeong) is a comedy, and the catchphrase for the movie reads: A male housewife’s delightful coming-out. As can be inferred by the phrase coming-out, this movie comes with the premise that it is an embarrassing secret for a man to stay at home. The main character, Oh Jin-man, betrays this premise and appears on a TV quiz show to reveal his identity to the world. He suffers a brief period of despair when his wife leaves home because of her embarrassing husband, but the couple end up living happily ever after. Han Suk-gyu is natural and comfortable in his role, starring as Oh Jin-man, a former elite corporate worker who has been a homemaker for six years. His sudden transformation, wearing mascara, fake eyelashes and high heels, is hilarious. Shin Eun-gyung stars as his wife, a master of ceremonies at a broadcast station. Jin-man enters a mutual-aid union hoping to receive more interest, but when someone runs off with the money, he is forced to raise 30 million won. He decides to go for the prize money in a quiz show for housewives, and enters the preliminaries dressed as a woman. His identity is revealed, however, but the broadcast station realizes this could be a hit and allows him to enter the show anyway. An expert in both current affairs and homemaking, Jin-man wins for three consecutive weeks and becomes a celebrity.

Quiz King Movie Review:
Lee Seon-kyun (Pasta) and Jung Yumi (Que Sera Sera) are two of my favorite drama actors, so naturally my interest was piqued to see that they are starring in a film together, called Oki’s Movie. It comes from director Hong Sang-soo, who won a prize at Cannes earlier this year in the Un Certain Regard category for his film Ha Ha Ha.
Already this new movie has been invited to another film festival, the 67th Venice International Film Festival, into its competitive “Orizzonti” section. According to the festival, it is “the Venice International Film Festival’s most innovative section, a veritable documentary array of contemporary cinema in all its forms of expression.”

A four-fold story develops around the three main characters, intertwined into one overall structure. The film is described as “candid and funny” with an “unconventional format.”

The movie stars Jung Yumi as the titular Oki (more traditionally spelled Ok-hee), an ordinary film student. Her classmate Jin-gu (Lee Seon-kyun) likes her and confesses his feelings for her in one of the stills below (he follows her all the way up the mountainside and gets drunk on makgulli), but her response is a vague “Thank you so liking me so much.”

Their film department professor Moon Sung-geun is the third character who has a good relationship with Oki and treats her nicely, all the while getting the evil eye from Jin-gu. (That is too cute.)

Jin-gu decides to try again at Christmas dinner and waits outside her place, but she doesn’t show up till dawn. Finding that he has spent the night there, she scolds him for waiting all this while.

Oki’s Movie is scheduled to release in Korea on September 16. Already considered one of the forefathers of the new Korean cinema, South Korean auteur Hong Sangsoo continues to pursue a distinctive style that challenges conventional cinema. Fresh from winning the Un Certain Regard prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for “Ha Ha Ha,” he continues his current creative streak with “Oki’s Movie,” further evidence of a visionary filmmaker undaunted by the whims of the market.

In a multipart narrative divided into four chapters, Hong fashions a new kind of love triangle. Oki is a young and beautiful college student majoring in film production and torn between the affections of two men: an older cinema professor and a former student/budding filmmaker. As the story shifts perspectives and timelines, Hong depicts each relationship with the authentically awkward rhythms of real life.

Rather than following the conventions of movie romance, Hong turns “Oki’s Movie” into a formally irreverent exercise in minimalism. A calming, mostly static visual palette evokes documentary style and imposes a kind of moral perspective on the three lovers. Ascetic in sensibility, the more Hong’s camera probes the cruder side of love, the more it shows up the baseness of romantic jealousy and competition.

The balance of tones in Hong’s films is always complex. Here he instills this love story with his unique brand of humor, but it is mixed with heartfelt melancholia. The film builds to a genuinely moving ending. But, disdainful of simplistic storytelling, Hong makes sure to wind his way to the finish with elaborate plotting and an insider’s sense of living within cinema.

Sparse, relaxed and jarringly real, “Oki’s Movie” bravely rejects easy classification. It is the work of a self-assured artist unafraid to expose the inner worlds of his characters to reveal their flawed humanity. [Synopsis courtesy of Giovanna Fulvi/Toronto International Film Festival]

Salman Khan made his fans crazy with his ‘Chulbul’ acts in Dabangg during this Eid. His fearless stunts and typical dialogue delivery style positioned him as a new brand again in Bollywood. The rustic feel to the storyline was enough to attract the rural audience also.

Now, as the talks for the sequel of this blockbuster is on from many days, a few reports suggest that it will be based on Mumbai and hence will be titled 'Bindass', which is a lingo used in Mumbai. It is meant for a person, who is carefree and brave which best defines the character ‘Chulbul Pandey’. He will be portrayed as a more carefree man in the sequel.

Superstar Salman Khan is known as a man with a heart bigger than his biceps. The title of the movie suits both the film as well as the actor in real life. With Arbaaz Khan production Dabangg, Salman has re-established himself in the industry as a superstar with super brand quality. Now, Bindass is just expected to take this revolutionary act of the actor to another level.

This time, the pressure on the Dabangg Khan will be much higher than earlier and he will have to work hard to capture the audience attention again!

Apparently, Emraan got too immersed in the dance that he could not take his eyes of Mallika the doll. He was very impressed with the person act and presentation. The person had used the name Mallika and had added few kisses here and there on the doll to add to the fun.

Well! Emraan the act will definitely impress you as it refreshed some of your old memories.

On the whole, Khichdi - The Movie is a fun-ride that tickles your funny bone from start to end.

Khichdi - The Movie: Fun guaranteed
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 15:22 [IST]
By: Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama

I must admit, I am no couch potato. I find it difficult to stay glued to television for hours, surfing channels randomly. Perhaps, that's one of the reasons why I never watched an episode of this hugely popular TV show called Khichdi. But, of course, I had heard of its popularity, about its comic quotient, about the zany characters...

Khichdi - The Movie borrows the characters from the show, but the movie has a new story to offer. In the West, popular shows are adapted on the big screen, but the trend is in nascent stages here. For someone like me, who was absolutely clueless about what to expect from the big screen adaptation, I'd say Khichdi - The Movie vacillates between absurd and ridiculous, but the fact remains that it makes you laugh at most times. Khichdi - The Movie may not push the envelope as far as the written material is concerned, but you exit the auditorium with a radiant smile, which most laughathons promise, but don't deliver.

Final word? I haven't laughed as much in weeks as much I did in those 2 hours. Do pay a visit to this mad family if laughter is what you seek in a movie. This khichdi is appetizing, for sure.

Hansa's (Supriya Pathak) brother Himanshu (J.D.) has a ridiculous ambition: to have a memorable, legendary love story. Parminder (Kirti Kulhari), Himanshu's neighbour, falls in love with Himanshu for no logical reason and the two get engaged to get married. That's when this ridiculous story takes a ridiculous turn. Himanshu realizes on the eve of the wedding that the impending ceremony would mean impending doom to his desire to have a legendary love story. For, nothing interesting ever happened in his love story to make it memorable.

No resistance, no conflict, no separation, no sad song, no climax, nothing. So the dumb family sets out to stall the wedding. Thus begins their journey to create all those missing stages in Himanshu's love story in order to make it legendary.

Even if you're clueless about the characters in the story - like I was - it doesn't take time to know that the family has its brains in its knees. At the very outset, the Almighty (Satish Shah, in a cameo) arrives at the doorstep to distribute akal ke laddoos, but the family will have none of it. From this point onwards, the characters get into weird and outlandish situations and the humour gets bizarre and wacky.

There's hardly any serious moment in the film. Humour has been injected even in serious situations, like the death of a parent (Supriya and J.D.'s father) and the condolence meet thereafter, where a parody of 'Beedi Jalaile' and 'Bheege Honth Tere' are rendered for the grieving family members.

However, writer-director Aatish Kapadia's screenplay has its share of potholes. The love story isn't convincing at all. Also, the crime angle (the suicide portions) doesn't cut ice. However, the courtroom sequence in the climax salvages the show and is, in fact, the highpoint of the enterprise. The entire sequence is so funny that you've to see it to believe it. It's nothing short of a mirthquake!

Aatish Kapadia, the writer may not be in complete form, but Aatish Kapadia, the director knows his job well. His choice of actors, who've the right comic timing, comes handy at most times. Also, like I said, his handling of the courtroom sequence especially is noteworthy. Music is a sore point, but I am not complaining. I was not expecting musical gems either. Sanjay Jadhav's cinematography is full of vibrant colors.

Every actor works in tandem with each other, instead of trying to have a game of one-upmanship and that's what makes every single character stand out. Supriya Pathak is splendid. Anang Desai is top notch. Rajeev Mehta (as Supriya's husband) is fantastic. Nimisha Vakharia is first-rate. J.D. is excellent. Kirti Kulhari looks good. Girish and Keith are alright. Kesar Majethia and Markand Soni are cute. Farah Khan, Satish Shah, Deven Bhojani and Paresh Ganatra are lovely in cameo appearances.

On the whole, Khichdi - The Movie is a fun-ride that tickles your funny bone from start to end. Do visit this mad Indian family and get thoroughly entertained. Logic be damned, laughter is what matters. This one's a great stress buster!

Director: Aatish Kapadia

Allah Ke Banday a tribute to the film Sin City
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 17:31 [IST]
By: Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Hungama

There is Hollywood inspiration behind Bollywood's very own film Allah Ke Banday which is aiming for a late October release. Since the film is a gritty tale of children taking to crime, it required an edgy narrative for itself. While debutant writer-director-actor Faruk Kabir promises lot more in his dramatic affair, he has also created a graphic music video to lend out the right mood and feel of the film. The song is titled 'Maula' has been self confessedly designed on the same lines as Hollywood's graphic tale Sin City (2005).

"'Maula' is a visual interpretation of reality and through this song, I am giving a visual treat to my audience", says Faruk who has patiently waited for a while before his debut flick became a reality by itself, "My target audience is youth and being a 28 year old myself, I am a part of this generation. I am making a contemporary film about today and for that I have lend an edgy hardcore energy to it. The music video of 'Maula' has a lot of attitude to it and for that the graphic tone of Sin City came in handy."

When released, Sin City had met with instant diverse reactions due to the graphic nature of violence and sex. The film, though carrying a comic undertone to it, was mainly for the adult segment of audience and went on to become a cult flick over a period of time. In fact it stands amongst one of the most studied movies of all times and had led to quite a few cheap imitations globally with far lesser success.

"Ours is a tribute to that genre though", Faruk is quick to add, "You would see a distinct (Quentin) Tarantino touch to it, something which was a conscious approach. Of course the video is quite real and disturbing so it has to be seen with caution. I don't mind that though; after all it was intentional."

Making of this video was a challenge in itself for Faruk and his team, more so because Faruk is playing the double role of a director and actor here.

"The whole video has been shot on croma where we have created the entire backdrop pretty meticulously", informs Faruk, "The video features Sharman and myself. Technically, it was a very challenging exercise and the song took around six months to be totally ready. While three months went into pre-production, the same amount of time went into post production as well."

While Chirantan Bhatt has scored music for this song, Sarim Momin has written the lyrics. However, this is not the only music video that Faruk has shot for his flick. "That's right", says Faruk, "We have shot another music video with Kailash Kher. It is an association with UNICEF. This one took its own time to be done since it features children."

Whoever said that it was a child's play to make a film!

Peter Andre still searching for true romance
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 17:35 [IST]

London, (ANI): During the launch of his new Mysterious Girl perfume, Peter Andre admitted that he’s not had a sniff of love since splitting from ex-wife Kate Price. The singer is still searching for a true romance a year after his fairytale marriage ended with Jordan.

The 37-year-old was so desperate to find a woman that he had ditched his old dating rules and would call a hottie within hours rather than play hard to get.

He added that the best he had managed since his four-year marriage broke down was a series of dates, but admitted he was “gutted” he had not met anyone special.

“I’ve been on a few dates but I’m not with anyone. When I was younger I’d wait three days before I called a girl. Now I tell them straight. If they don’t like it, it’s not meant to be,” the Daily Star quoted Pete as saying.

Kelly Osbourne blames mom for her mustache
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 17:50 [IST]

Washington, (ANI): Kelly Osbourne was in fun mood when she admitted that she has a mustache to take care of.

Despite her recent breakup, Kelly hasn't given up her sense of humor as she spoke to host George Lopez on ‘Lopez Tonight’ about her family’s original unscripted family drama ‘The Osbournes’, her stint on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and a somewhat inconvenient beauty secret.

Looking happy and healthy than ever, the slender star giggled while telling the tale of how mom Sharon once accidentally burned her teen daughter’s upper lip with an at-home waxing kit.

“I was the crash test dummy. The wax was so hot that it burned me. By the time she pulled the wax off, my skin went with it and I had to go to school with a scab mustache,” People magazine quoted Kelly as saying.

“Now I have a mustache that I have to wax that I blame my mom for!” she concluded the witty anecdote.

London, (ANI): Paris Hilton is making plans to visit sick kids at The Children's Hospital in Los Angeles this week to teach them how to paint.

The hotel heiress appears to have adopted a 'healthy' new lifestyle with gym sessions and a new diet. It seems she is hoping to put her recent drugs conviction firmly behind her by turning her attentions to charity work.

"Went to Michael's Art Supply Store today, bought a lot of fun art projects. Going to The Children's Hospital this week to do art with them," the Daily Star quoted Hilton as tweeting.

The news comes just days after LiLo made a trip to visit homeless teenagers at a shelter in L.A.

Shahrukh not performing at Commonwealth Games

By Raymond Ronamai

Bollywood takes the centre stage at almost all the big events in India. But for a change, the much-awaited Commonwealth Games 2010 will keep away from Bollywood masala.

It was rumoured that Shahrukh Khan would perform at the opening ceremony of the event on October 3 but the organisers confirmed that the actor, or any other Bollywood actor for that matter, would not perform.

Instead, Indian dance, songs and culture will be showcased at the CWG opening ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. However, Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman will be performing a few songs including the latest version of the CWG anthem.

Maybe the most filmlovers can expect from the film is Sachin's Ferrari.

Sachin Tendulkar not driving Vinod Chopra's Ferrari

By Raymond Ronamai

It looks like some rumourmongers spread the news that Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar would act in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Ferrari Ki Sawari just because the cricketer owns a Ferrari in real life.

It is said that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is looking forward to rope in Aamir Khan for the lead role in Ferrari Ki Sawari; and the later has promised to read the script soon. However, Sharman Joshi is likely to play the lead role if Aamir turns it down.

Now, where does that leave Tendulkar? Nowhere. Maybe the most filmlovers can expect from the film is Sachin's Ferrari.

Ali Zafar failed to recognise Katrina!

It seems Pakistan’s pop icon Ali Zafar, who is now in Mumbai to pursue a career in movies has a lot of catching up to do on the who’s who of the film industry. Last week at a party he failed to recognize Katrina Kaif although she is his co-star in the Yashraj film that Ali has signed.

Last week, Katrina spotted Ali, whom she had seen and liked in Tere Bin Laden, at a party. Knowing that they were scheduled to work together, Katrina enthusiastically approached Ali, only to be greeted with a polite but blank smile.

Says an eyewitness, “Ali clearly didn’t recognize Katrina. Though he was polite, he had a quizzical who-are-you look on his face. It was an embarrassing moment for Katrina. But she handled it with aplomb. She introduced herself as his co-star in the Yash Raj film that they were going to be doing, welcomed him to Mumbai and walked off.”

When asked about this embarrassing incident, Katrina shrugged it off with a laugh, “It’s true. Ali looked at me quite strangely at the party last week. What’s the big deal? He’s new to Bollywood. It will take him time to know everyone. I’ve been here for four years. I still don’t know everyone.”

The story of Jab-Ali-met-Katrina doesn’t end there. It seems Katrina had loads of fun at Ali’s expense the day after the party incident.

Letting out a prankster’s chuckle Katrina says, “I met Ali at the Yashraj office a day after the party. I went up to him and said I hope he recognizes me.”

Ali, of course, didn’t know where to look.

Hopefully now he won’t have a problem recognizing Katrina since they’re shooting together.

Tollywood Actresses Nayantara are tired of playing the same type of role in each of their films.

Tollywood actresses tired of glamorous roles
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 11:01 [IST]
Sampurn Wire

Most of the Tollywood actresses are tired of playing the same type of role in each of their films. Actress Nayantara recently said that she is fed up of playing the same glamorous role in all her films. The actress said that the so called ‘Four scenes, four songs’ films do not appeal to her anymore. Although the actress
enjoys commercial success, she still clamours for performance oriented roles that challenges her as an actor.

Nayantara gave a wonderful performance in the movie Simha and she is ready to take up similar projects. Most of the A-listed actresses of Tollywood do not have much diversity in their roles, directors like to play it safe and turn them into eye candy for the audience. Right now it seems that Box office queen Anushka is playing safe with Ragada. Most of the actresses get tired of the same roles over time and want some variety in their films.

Actress Sneha Ullal said that she wants to experiment with different roles so did not embark on a signing right after Simha. Right now, Sneha is trying her luck in the Tamil films. The actresses claim that the audience usually follows the male protagonist throughout the course of most films and heroines are only reserved for the glam quotient. All the major actresses of Tollywood believe there is a lack of women centric films in Tollywood, hope the directors are listening.

The whole team beamed, and happily spoke about MAMI. Shyam Benegal said, "This time we have got the cream of the world cinema. We have the best films of the past 1 -1 ½ years. We feel the films we have for MAMI are worthy of being showcased to a city like Mumbai."

Talking about this year's Japanese films that are to be showcased Shyam Benegal said, "We have around 45 Japanese films many of which are winners of many international festivals."

The all women jury, which has already grabbed many people's attention is another thing Shyam Benegal is extremely proud of. "We have an unprecedented, superb all women jury which is highly celebrated", said the veteran filmmaker.

Another high point of the event was when the poster for the 12th MAMI Festival was unveiled. It was designed by artist Chintan Upadhyay. The poster had a very interesting look. Says Chintan of the poster designed by him, "It was challenging to design a poster for MAMI, as it is an international festival so I needed a poster which was universal and futuristic in its appeal."

Well, this year's MAMI, promises to be bigger and better than ever. There are many interesting events planned. The films selected are internationally acclaimed films. Shyam Benegal summed it up by saying "We are probably the best in India".

This special correspondent meets India's lost actress, Neetu Kapoor,

“Ranbir is too possessive about me” – Neetu Kapoor
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 17:17 [IST]
By: Devansh Patel, Bollywood Hungama

The first thing you notice about Neetu Kapoor when you see her in flesh is how comfortable she feels in her own self. Touchwood. She often talks about how proud she is of just being a mother and a devoted wife, but it's more than that. There is something about how connected she is to herself that makes her charismatic. She is instantly accessible, perching on a little sofa in her Pali Hill residence, wondering why I didn't want brown sugar in my coffee. Neetuji, as I'd love to call her, just ordered for some freshly brewed Nespresso which she had got from London. She is wearing black leggings with a black tee on a day when she was at ease, which you could make out from her dress code on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

My black coffee arrives in a shot glass. It hits me, both, the coffee and Neetuji's eternal beauty. I am all ready for my first interview with her and so is she, though she is feeling a bit awkward and when asked her the reason, Neetuji replies with her yesteryear's smitten smile, "I am giving an interview to a journalist after thirty years; you can now imagine what I'm going through. I need some breathing space." Her skin is flawless, her eyes huge and all-consuming. She is not afraid to look at you and she's not afraid to let you look right in at her. It's an open face. No slyness, no manipulation. She is renowned for being a woman who doesn't fear most things and certainly doesn't fear speaking her mind.

Who would have thought, that in Mumbai's hottest suburban area, one of the most successful screen actress
in Bollywood would be a woman nearing 53. This special correspondent meets India's lost actress, Neetu Kapoor, who makes a surprising comeback to the big screen so that we can remember the time when there used to be a seamless performer, who, with her ease and charm could melt your heart just by her wink. Neetu Kapoor, we bow down to you today.

Who is the reason behind Neetu Kapoor's comeback on to the big screen?
No one pushed me to do Do Dooni Chaar. It was my own decision. Honestly, I didn't want to do a film ever in my life after I quit. I had blocked my mind off movies and my life was - my children and my husband. But this was very special because my husband was very excited about it. I call my husband Bob. So Bob was excited about this character of his called Santosh Duggal and would discuss the role out in front of me every day. On top of that, the director, Habib Faisal was adamant to cast me opposite Bob. My husband said that she doesn't work and has refused so many films. But on Bob's word, I called Habib home on Diwali Day for a fifteen minute narration which eventually went on for four long hours. I immediately said 'yes'. I kept asking him questions and he answered all of them.

So how after three decades did Neetu Kapoor face the camera?
Habib knew I wasn't going to do the film but he just came for one narration which he so wanted me to hear. He knew that I wasn't into career and all. I am fifty two now and do not want to return back to movies but Do Dooni Chaar was really special because it's not a film like every film. It's a film that reflects reality. It's about how people go through in life living in Lajpatnagar. The way Habib has created the atmosphere, the clothes, the language, backdrop, etc. was too attractive. I started imaging myself as Kusum Duggal while he was narrating. It's not that after three decades I've got a role of a lifetime. No. It's not a role which will win awards but if it wins appreciation, I'll be happy.

How do you define 'acting' today?
Acting isn't rocket science. It wasn't for me. It was about how free you let yourself be in front of the camera. That's it. Once you don't feel the camera is in front of you, you'll perform the best. For me, the camera was no issue. The issue was that will I remember the lines after so many years, etc. That was my only fear. On the second day, I was completely at peace and I could manage all 'on the sets' gratification. I am not a serious actress like Shabana Azmi is. I work a lot on my instincts and just the way I feel will be the right way.

We recall your dance moves with Rishi Kapoor in the films you were cast opposite him. How was it to shake a leg with him again? Oh, I love dancing. I still dance. Whenever I am at a party, I will be the first one to go on the floor and dance. But my husband hates it with a passion. So I told him that this is the only time we are getting to dance together after years, especially in a scene where there is a marriage ceremony happening. There was no dance director for that scene. I did the same thing what I did years back in Kabhi Kabhie. So I told my director and my husband to recreate those moments we often describe as 'gem of a moment'.
How often do you sit with your husband discussing films?
We sit everyday to discuss films. We are constantly doing that. We discuss movies, performances or should I do this or that or for that matter, even my son Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir has grown with this criticism ever since he started sitting with us on evenings to talk about movies. We all appreciate different roles and films coming out of our cinema. We never talk about stock market. We never criticize anyone's performance. We only talk films.

The two kids who are in the film, did they come across as Riddhima and Ranbir?
Both the children in the film are very talented. Archit is a very bright boy and you'll see it when you see the film. He asked me a lot of questions too. Aditi is a stage actress and she is superb too. I really felt like they are my own children and I fell in love with them. I used to take chocolates for them. If I used to talk to Archit, Aditi would get upset. It became too personal in a funny way.

And how possessive is Ranbir?
(Laughs) Ranbir is too possessive about me. He has seen the film and he loved it. He is so excited. It is also exciting for me and my husband to be together on the big screen after so many years. And that's the reason you see Ranbir happy, Riddhima happy, my mother-in-law and my entire family happy to see both of us together on screen yet again. I am happy in my life right now and so is my husband. Everyone in our family is possessive about one thing and one thing only - films.

What have you gained from a professional called Rishi Kapoor?
My husband is the kind of guy who never gives up. He is always on the move. He will be cleaning something; he'll be doing something or the other. I sometimes have to tell him to go out of the house so that I can relax (laughs). He is so energetic. He went to promote Do Dooni Chaar on Chotte Ustaad and people were shocked to see a man at fifty eight going down on his knees performing. And the fact is that my husband has bad knees. He feels that age is just a number, and so do I. That's why we both are young. After seeing him off the sets after so long and then on the sets performing, I felt for the first time that my husband is really talented. I knew he was but I was too young to realise it back then when we used to work together. He doesn't rehearse his lines. He just goes with the flow. Rishi Kapoor - the man - motivates you and given a chance, he will bully you too.

And we hear the message of the film is hidden in its title.
You are absolutely right. The film is called Do Dooni Char and that's what the message of the film is. The life's mantra should be that two and two makes four and not five. That's what the central character in the film, Mr. Duggal does in the film. He goes the right way and how he goes the right way is what the movie about.

Is this film going to be a one off re-entry for you or are you eyeing other films too?
Frankly speaking, I'm not interested right now. I am open to movies, but very selective. But then again, I don't want to commit to them. In the near future, you never know, I may do something with Ranbir. I can't leave my family and go on outdoor shoots and at the moment, my family won't even allow me as they are too possessive about me. But may be something like Do Dooni Chaar comes my way and I may say 'Yes' to it.

And last few words on Ranbir Kapoor before we end this interview please?
It's my Father-In Law's blessing which also counts that today Ranbir is known as our country's finest actors
. But what really makes me happy is when people come up to me and say that he is a good person. Some of them have even said that he is good to his spot boy as he is to his co-stars. Ranbir doesn't make an effort, he is like that. He is very grounded by nature. That's Ranbir's victory. He will go a long way if he remains like this.
