Journalist Aarur Tamilnandan, who claimed that the storyline of Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran, was copied from his short story, has demanded Rs.1 crore compensation from the producers of the film. In his civil suit, he said that he had penned a short story titled Jugiba in 1996 and it was published in a magazine in the same year. It was re-published with his permission in another magazine in 2007.
The original story (4 pages) talks about a scientist, Robin, and his robot Jugiba. According to the story, the robot wants to love his creator's girlfriend. But in the end, the robot commits suicide due to the dispute with its creator on the same girl friend issue.
Claiming that he is the owner of the story, Tamilnandan said he should be declared as the author and copyright-holder of the film Endhiran. He wants the court to award a compensation
But Shankar, who has written the story and screenplay of Endhiran, registered the 2000 page detailed script of Endhiran in Tamil Screen Writers Association in the late nineties. It may be noted that the story of Endhiran, is loosely based on late Sujatha Rangarajan's 'En Iniya Enthira', one of the most popular science fiction published in the eighties.of Rs 1 crore to him and restrain the producers and others from screening and exhibiting the film during the pendency of the suit.

It is said that the South Indian film industry has seen a decline over the last couple of years, owing to the dominance of North Indian and Marathi girls, when compared to the Tamil and Telugu girls. However, actress Bindu Madhavi is all set to change the trend with her debut in the Tamil film industry with the Gautham Menon's production Veppam. This, however, is not Bindu’s first brush with South Indian cinema. The actress had earlier been noticed in Tollywood, albeit, in a very short role which had her playing the character of a demure pickle seller.
Bindu Madhavi has been a successful model prior to her entry into the South Indian film industry. In fact it was through one of her modeling assignments that Gautham first came across Bindu and decided to cast her in his upcoming project.
Bindu Madhavi is keeping her fingers crossed and is pinning her hopes on Veppam. Her role of a call girl in the upcoming project will not only give her a good launch in the industry but will also bring out the acting skills hidden within her, feels the one-time model. When asked about her non-conventional dusky looks, Bindu Madhavi says that it is in her looks that her sex appeal lies and she is confident that audiences will love her the way she

The makers of Action Replayy have a reason to smile. After all, the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences wants the screenplay of the film for its permanent script collection. Producer-director Vipul Shah got intimation on this regard early this week and he is making the necessary arrangements to ensure that a copy of the screenplay reaches Margaret Herrick library.
Confirms Vipul, "Yes, they have shown a keen interest in preserving the screenplay of Action Replayy. They send out the invites for those films which they need for research purpose. Even earlier, a copy of screenplay of Namastey London was shared with them when they had expressed their desire for that. I am glad that they feel Action Replayy is worthy enough for students of cinema to read and learn."
Screenplay of Action Replayy has been written by Vipul Shah and Aatish Kapadia. While the film has managed to make an impression at the Academy, ironically in 'apna Bollywood', many critics were far away from being kind to this Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Bachchan film.
"It only shows how far detached are quite a few of our esteemed critics from grasping the real content of cinema,” shrugs away Vipul, "Academy has shown so much interest, those from the audience, who have seen the film, have liked it but then some really scathing comments from the critics did come as a shocker. Now that the screenplay is going to the Oscars library, it is definitely a redemption of sorts."

We are aware of the strong bond that filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Amitabh Bachchan share. Both the Bollywood maestros have earlier worked on a couple of films together. But it is Amitabh's latest gesture that reveals his love for the film director.
We are already aware of the fact that Karan Johar has been taken ill, and since then, he has not been able to come out of his residence. Big B, in spite of being the busy man that he is, took time out to visit his friend Karan at his residence and spent time with him.
According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar shared dinner and had lengthy talks on the inside story of the Bollywood fraternity. Big B made sure to spend a couple of hours with his dear friend Karan at his residence to lift up the spirits of the filmmaker, who could not even make it to the Berlin birthday bash of his best friend Shahrukh Khan.
Karan Johar may be ill but we are sure that with the best wishes of Amitabh Bachchan resting on his shoulders, he will soon recover.

Director Farah Khan has been heard singing praises of Katrina Kaif, who will be seen in her upcoming film Tees Maar Khan. Her dancing skills and flawless Hindi diction seems to have stolen her heart. But surprisingly, she thinks that Kareena Kapoor is a better actress than Katrina.
Television viewers were in for a surprise. Speaking on Koffee With Karan, Farah nonchalantly mentioned that she considered Kareena to be a better actress than Katrina.
In the meantime, Farah is all praise for Katrina. She feels that the item song ‘Sheela Ki Jaawani’ featuring the actress is bound to be a runaway hit. In fact, she has even gone to the extent of saying that she is likely to rake in lots of moolah, simply by dancing to that particular tune at concerts all year round.
Well, Katrina, a sensible girl that she is, might not be terribly upset with Farah's statement, as she knows her strength. She knows that she is still not fit to hold a candle to Kareena when it comes to acting. But then, hearing it constantly is another matter altogether. After all, an actress does need to be in the news for the right reasons.

The Bigg Boss 4 house has been completely transformed with the wedding of Sara Khan and Ali Merchant taking center stage amidst all the mayhem surrounding the various fights and backbiting.
However, in Tuesday’s episode there was a sudden turn of events in the house, as the pre-wedding celebrations were going on in the house as per the plans of Bigg Boss. There were clothes for the bride and the groom and the other inmates as well. But what problem did Sara face? Why did she throw tantrums just a day before her wedding? Well, it all started with the designer wardrobe that was sent by Bigg Boss for the inmates.
Sara Khan, who had just received a beautiful bridal dress from Bigg Boss, thought that it was her own material, which she had bought for Rs.3 lakh, that Bigg Boss had got stitched for her. This angered Sara a lot. Utterly upset, she screamed out letting everyone know that it was such an expensive material and was ruined by Bigg Boss, as the lahenga was stitched not as per her measurements but for a fat lady.
Well, it was only after Bigg Boss called her and Ali Merchant to the confession room and told them that the wedding dress was a gift from Ali’s mom that Sara calmed down.
However, after that, there was the mehendi ceremony, or the henna applying ceremony that was held. A professional was sent in by Bigg Boss and she etched out wonderful patterns on the brides hands.
All was well with the dance and song routine; the Bigg Boss house seemed to be a blissful heaven, as the inmates finally called it a day

Washington, (ANI): Carrie Prejean's lawyer Charles LiMandri has sued Miss California USA executives Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler and their lawyer accusing them all of feeding top secret information to various news outlets in particular, TMZ.
According to the docs, LiMandri claims the two sides agreed that everything that took place during the mediation was to be kept private. But somehow, LiMandri claims, accurate details involving everything from negotiation tactics to the fact that Carrie's mom actually watched the footage of Carrie's solo exploits somehow made its way to us.
LiMandri states that he was particularly shocked at how quickly TMZ was able to publish accurate details."Moments after the Settlement Agreements were signed, TMZ posted a report that the parties had settled, and quoted the agreed upon joint statement," TMZ.com quoted him as saying.
He said that the Miss Cali USA people agreed to pay for a portion of his legal fees, which he reduced in exchange for their silence. But since LiMandri believes they broke the deal- he wants his full rate-plus punitive damages.

We have seen enough of Indian actors and actresses kissing on screen, but have you seen Indian celebrities kissing live on television screen – that too involving two guys? May be not! Well, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan did the unexpected. They kissed on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan.
Well, it goes that Ranbir and Imran were a riot on Koffee With Karan show. They demanded Karan to fullfill his promise to cast them together. They also reminded the filmmaker that he gave them an underwear each as a signing token. To prove that they are comfortable with each other, they kissed right in front of Karan, and of course before the camera.
Karan was taken aback by the kiss, yet he asked them to repeat the act. The duo ended up kissing one more time – with no qualms.
Well, Ranbir and Imran have passed the test. But the big question is, will Karan cast them in Dostana sequel? Over to Karan!

Runaway Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider has lost his stipend contract after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended the same on Wednesday. The move comes as the first official sign by the board of its annoyance with the cricketer after his strange departure from the Pakistan team hotel in Dubai just prior to his side's 5th ODI against South Africa.
"PCB has suspended the stipend contract of Mr. Zulqarnain Haider for violating terms and conditions of the same," a board statement said.
Though obvioulsy shocked at Haider's actions, the majority of board officials and consultants have not so far as condemned the player (although Pakistan's Federal Sports Minister Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani did call Haider a "coward"). For the moment though, the main aim is to find out about the turn of events surrounding Haider's departure and contacting him.
The PCB has denied reports thet it is considering imposing a life-ban on Haider in the wake of his recent move, especially when protocal requires that he approach the board about any untoward incidents.
"A fact-finding committee has been formulated to establish the facts surrounding the incident of Mr. Haider's disappearance from the team hotel. The Committee will meet soon," added the statement from the PCB.
The board has expressed its current difficulty in contacting Haider who is supposedly at an undisclosed location. He has merely spoken to Geo TV, a Pakistan television channel.
The stipend contract is a notch below the central contracts that the PCB presents annually to a group of players in and around the national squad. Usually, stipend contracts worth Rs. 50,000 per month, are given to younger players on the periphery of national selection.

Enchanted screenwriter Bill Kelly wrote the script, which centers on a recently-widowed man who realizes that his late wife left him a fortune. He uses his newfound wealth to build a time machine so he can see his wife one last time, and to resolve a mysterious issue between the couple.
Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media made a preemptive deal for the project with Sunil Perkash producing. No production schedule was given for the movie.
The drama should not be confused with another movie entitled Timeless, which Robert Zemeckis is directing. We reported on that project at the end of September.

Deadline reports that actors Bruce Willis and Rebecca Hall (The Town) are the favorites to star in Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog, which is also known as Lay the Favorite.
The movie is based off Beth Raymer's memoir of the same name, which centers on her relationship with two older men and how they managed to find an edge in the Las Vegas sports gambling system. Focus Features is behind the project, with High Fidelity screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis adapting the script. Stephen Frears, who directed High Fidelity, is already signed onto direct this new project.
Rebecca Hall is also circling this comedy based off Beth Raymer's memoirs about cheating the Vegas sports gambling system.
Bruce Willis and Rebecca Hall aren't guaranteed locks to star in the movie, though. We just reported yesterday that Bruce Willis may star in Wes Anderson's new movie Moonrise Kingdom. We also reported this week that Rebecca Hall is in talks to star in Shadow Dancer.
No production schedule was given for Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog so it's possible that both actors may join other projects and then come back to this gambling movie.
Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog comes to theaters in 2012. The film is directed by Stephen Frears.

Variety is reporting that producers Joan Singleton and Ralph S. Singleton (Because of Winn-Dixie) have acquired the rights to the novel John Belushi Is Dead for a new big screen adaptation.
Kathy Charles wrote the novel, which Joan Singleton will adapt and produce with her husband, Ralph S. Singleton. Here's a plot description, which was published by MTV Books in August:
"In the end we all fade to black.
Pink-haired Hilda and oddball loner Benji are not your typical teenagers. Instead of going to parties or hanging out at the mall, they comb the city streets and suburban culs-de-sac of Los Angeles for sites of celebrity murder and suicide. Bound by their interest in the macabre, Hilda and Benji neglect their schoolwork and their social lives in favor of prowling the most notorious crime scenes in Hollywood history and collecting odd mementos of celebrity death.
Hilda and Benji's morbid pastime takes an unexpected turn when they meet Hank, the elderly, reclusive tenant of a dilapidated Echo Park apartment where a silent movie star once stabbed himself to death with a pair of scissors. Hilda feels a strange connection with Hank and comes to care deeply for her paranoid new friend as they watch old movies together and chat the sweltering afternoons away. But when Hank's downstairs neighbor Jake, a handsome screenwriter, inserts himself into the equation and begins to hint at Hank's terrible secrets, Hilda must decide what it is she's come to Echo Park searching for . . . and whether her fascination with death is worth missing out on life."
The feature rights to the novel occurred at the famous Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood, which is where actor John Belushi actually did die in 1982. The book also mentions the deaths of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Sharon Tate. No studio is attached to the project at this time.

We reported just a few days ago that The Dark Knight Rises will start shooting this April in New Orleans, and it seems the casting process is kicking into high gear. Deadline reports that top-flight actresses such as Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley are vying for two very different roles in The Dark Knight Rises.
There will be two female leads in the sequel, one of which will be the new love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, and the other of which will be a villain. No offers are out yet, although director Christopher Nolan is planning on meeting with all of these actresses at some point in the coming weeks.
Two of the names that weren't mentioned in the story are Charlize Theron and Vera Farmiga. We reported last week that Charlize Theron is up for the role of Detective Sarah Essen and that Vera Farmiga had auditioned for Julie Madison, which will be the love-interest role for Bruce Wayne.
We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as an official casting announcement is made.
The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Tottenham roasted European champs Inter Milan last week, but they couldn’t muster a win against Bolton at the weekend and instead dropped points. They’ll hope to revive their league aspirations with a victory over Sunderland on Tuesday
It’s a tight points spread in the league at the moment and a win for any team could catapult them well up the standings as a full fixture list will play out midweek.

After saying this week that he would support a relegation system for referees, Tony Pulis will turn his attention to his own relegation battle as Birmingham City come to the Britannia.
The Potters will be attempting to end a four game losing skid in this game, a poor run of form that sees them teetering above the relegation zone on goal difference alone. Stoke will be without Ryan Shawcross, who is suspended after his sending off in the 2-0 weekend defeat at Sunderland. Mamady Sidibe remains sidelined with an Achilles injury.
The Blues make the trip on a three game unbeaten streak, a run of games in which defender Liam Ridgewell has scored two goals. Left back Ridgewell is now the Blues’ joint leading goal scorer with three Premier League strikes.
Scottish star James McFadden remains injured for Birmingham, but Chilean international Jean Beausejour could return to the starting lineup.

Tottenham currently sit in 7th place and will be looking for victory if they want to put pressure on the teams in the top four. Harry Redknapp will make a late decision on the fitness of Dutch star Rafael van der Vaart who has a lingering hamstring injury.
Sunderland bounced back well at the weekend after their nightmare 5-1 beating at the hands of arch rivals Newcastle. A brace from Ghana World Cup star Asamoah Gyan helped the Black Cats to a 2-0 victory over Stoke City. The goals of Gyan will be a welcome boost, as England international forward Darren Bent is ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Aston Villa vs Blackpool
Villa Park (Birmingham), Wednesday November 10th, 2:45PM EST

Aston Villa have achieved back to back draws and will look to return to winning ways when Ian Holloway and his entertaining Blackpool team visit Villa Park. Gerard Houllier has had a difficult time with injuries since his arrival and it recently got worse when midfielder Steve Sidwell will be out for over a month.
Sidwell will join John Carew, Emile Heskey, Stiliyan Petrov and Nigel Reo Coker on an injury list that makes unhappy reading for Villa fans. Villa could be boosted by the possible return of Gabriel Agbonlahor for this game.
Blackpool are surprising more people every week and travel to Villa Park with three away wins in the Premier League, as many as any other team in the league. The good form of the Tangerines is made even more surprising by the fact that, having conceded 23 goals, they have the Premier League’s worst defensive record.
Defender Craig Cathcart is out for BLackpool, and striker Brett Ormerod will be a late decision due to a groin strain.

Read on for a brief history of the rivalry between the two big Manchester football clubs.
As City supporters are quick to point out, United doesn't even play in Manchester, their home being located in the borough of Trafford.
There can be no doubt, however, that when Manchester football is mentioned it is the team in red that most people think of.
The rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City goes back a long way, almost as far back as the beginning of football in England. And the two clubs have been contesting a local derby, on and off, for nearly 130 years!
Read on for a brief history of the rivalry between the two big Manchester football clubs.
Foundations
Billy Meredith - Welsh superstar who played for both Manchester City and Manchester United
The progenitor of Association Football was the rough and tumble “Shrovetide Football” of medieval times, which sometimes involved entire mobs of people, careening violently through towns and villages as they contested possession of an inflated pig's bladder.
By the mid-1800s these rabble-rousing events had developed into relatively genteel games involving carrying, tossing and kicking a ball. There were as many different rules to these games as there were games being played, but generally they diverged into two main categories of football.
One type of football emphasized carrying and running with the ball. This became known later as “rugby football.” The other placed the emphasis on kicking the ball and otherwise controlling it mostly with the feet. This version of football was known as the “dribbling game.”
In the 1860s the “Football Association” was created to codify and bring order to the rules of the dribbling game, and this is how the dribbling game came to be called “association football.” Soccer if you like!
The association football clubs that we now know as Manchester United and Manchester City were founded not long after the creation of the Football Association, and as is very common, both clubs were started up under different names.
Manchester United
George Best became legend of Manchester United with 470 appearances between 1963 and 1974, scoring 179 goals.
The club that became Manchester United was created in 1878 by workers in the Carriage and Wagon Department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath, a district of Manchester. They played under the name of Newton Heath LYR Football Club.
After spending its first few years playing against other works teams, Newton Heath joined a league known as the “Football Alliance” in 1889. At that time the Football Alliance was a rival to the “Football League.” The Alliance soon merged with the Football League, however, and Newton Heath was elected to the League's First Division.
But hard financial times descended on Newton Heath, and in 1902, with debts of nearly £3000 (a lot of money in those days), the club was served with a “winding-up order.” In other words, Newton Heath was ordered to liquidate its assets to pay off debts.
This could have spelled doom for Newton Heath. But team captain Harry Stafford was ;oath to let this happen and he found investors to pay off the creditors in exchange for an interest in running the club. John Henry Davies, a local brewery owner, was the principle investor in the Newton Heath club and he became its president.
Davies who decided a name change was necessary.
After several interesting false starts, including “Manchester Central” and “Manchester Celtic,” Newton Heath changed its name to Manchester United.
Davies also changed the club colors. Today's football fans will be familiar with the Newton Heath colors of the late 19th and early 20th Century because many a modern Manchester United supporter spotted wearing the green and gold livery of Newton Heath in protest of the Glazer family that currently owns United.
Davies changed the club colors to the red and white we know so well today.
Manchester City
Manchester City was founded in the Manchester suburb of Gorton in 1880 as a church team. “St. Mark's (West Gorton)” it was called, and was it originally established to offer a diversion for impoverished youth in the local area, many of whom took up gang life, behaved violently and abused alcohol.
In 1884 the club dropped the “St. Mark's” appellation and became known as “Gorton A.F.C.” (Association Football Club). In 1887 the Gorton Football Club turned professional and moved to a new pitch in the district of Ardwick. They then changed their name to “Ardwick A.F.C.”
In 1891 Ardwick won the Manchester Cup, beating Newton Heath 1-0. Largely due to this success, Ardwick was admitted to the Football Alliance, and when the Alliance merged with the Football League, Ardwick became a founding member of the Football League's new Second Division.
During the 1893-1894 season financial difficulties befell Ardwick AFC. The club reorganized itself and emerged in 1894 with a new name intended to draw wider appeal.
Manchester City Football Club was born.
The First Derbies
On Saturday the 12th of November 1881, St. Mark's (West Gorton) football club hosted a match against another local team, Newton Heath LYR Football Club. Newton Heath won 3-0. A newspaper at the time called the contest “a pleasant match.” This was the first ever encounter between the two clubs that would evolve into Manchester City and Manchester United, and thus could be called the first Manchester Derby.
In October of 1891 the two clubs met as members of the Football Alliance. By this time St. Mark's ( West Gorton) were known as Ardwick A.F.C. That didn't matter as they were beaten 3-1 at Newton Heath's North Road pitch.
But the two clubs didn't meet in a Football League match until November 1894, when Newton Heath traveled to Manchester City's Hyde Road stadium in Ardwick. The result was a 2-5 victory for “the Heathens.”
In the intervening years the clubs met at various times and stages of their development, but it was a while before they met as members of the top league in the land. That derby came in December of 1906 at Hyde Road, when both City and United were First Division clubs. City won that one 3-0.
In those days the derbies between the two Manchesters must have lacked the intensity we see today. Indeed, it was common in the first half of the last century for fans in the Manchester area to support both clubs, attending one team's match one week and the other team's match the next.
But dual support faded over time and eventually became a rare thing. By the 1970s the Manchester Derby was often a hostile affair.
Later Derbies
In 1970, for example, Manchester United's great Irish winger George Best broke the leg of City's Glyn Pardoe during a tackle. Pardoe's leg break was so bad doctors feared they'd have to remove it. Fortunately this proved unnecessary and the leg remained on the man. But Pardoe was out of the game for nearly two years as a result of the injury.
In 1974 City's Mike Doyle and United's Lou Macari were both red-carded in a derby, yet both refused to leave the field! Only after the ref ordered the teams off the pitch did the scoundrels finally accept their punishment.
Yet despite the enmity a touching moment in the history of the Manchester Derby deserves mention.
The poignant ending to Denis Law's magnificent career
The great Scottish striker Denis Law, like the “Welsh Wizard” Billy Meredith long before him, was a big star who played for both Manchester City and Manchester United during his career.Law signed for City in 1960, and a year later went to Torino in Italy for a season. When he returned to England he signed for Manchester United. Law played for United from 1962 until 1973, then signed again for City, with whom he finished his playing career a year later.
City's final match of the 1973-1974 season was a derby against United. This match had special significance because United were on the verge of relegation and needed a win. United needed help from other clubs that day, too, to guarantee survival in the top flight. But their first priority was to beat City, in whose ranks stood United Old Boy Denis Law, now in the twilight of his playing days.
After 80 minutes of scoreless football Law, with his back to the United goal, received a pass from team mate Francis Lee. Law reflexively hit the ball with his heel and beat United keeper Alex Stepney. United lost 1-0 and were relegated to the Second Division.
Swallowed up in the jubilation of his City teammates, Denis Law refused to celebrate his goal. He was substituted almost immediately after scoring and left the pitch in sadness, his head hanging low. He never played professional club football again and retired from the game soon after.
Later he said the back-heeler against his old club was a goal he almost wished he hadn't scored.
The Manchester Derby Today
The Manchester derby expectations have spiked in recent years due to the resurgence of Manchester City.
Manchester United has an illustrious history. From the “The Busby Babes” whose promise was tragically cut short when their plane crashed in Munich in 1958, to the rebuilt squad that won the European Cup in 1968, the club has continued to go from honor to honor, including 18 First Division/Premier League championships, 11 FA Cups, 3 European Cup/Champions League triumphs and a UEFA Cup Winners Cup. There have been many other trophies in between.
Manchester City have silverware to show off too, with 2 First Division championships, 4 FA Cups and a European Cup Winners Cup, among various lesser honors.
But clearly City's trophy cabinet is a smaller one than United's and this has made City the second team in Manchester. The results of the Manchester Derby over the years prove United's dominance. (132 games played, with United winning 52 of them, City 36, and 44 draws.)
Indeed, the long-lasting quality gulf between City and United has rendered the Manchester Derby less important than the United-Liverpool rivalry.
In recent years, however, City have been making noise with the injection of foreign cash to buy big name players, and their presence in the English Premier League may now be almost taken for granted.
Last season City finished 5th to United's 2nd, and contended for a higher finish almost the entire campaign.
This season so far City have had their ups and downs, but they currently sit 4th in the Premier League behind United's current 2nd.
Results like these guarantee that the rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City will take on new meaning to the supporters of both clubs. And if City manages to achieve their goal and topple United from their perch as Manchester's better team, the Manchester Derby will assume a greater importance than ever.
