Jagapathi Babu has been doing action backdrop films at every possible opportunity and Chattam is one among such films. Produced by Nattikumar on the banner of Vishaka Talkies with PA Arun Prasad as director, the film is made with some real life incidents and a cinematic answer to such issues. Read on for Chattam review.
Story:
Gowri Shankar (Jagapathi Babu) is a circle inspector of Punjagutta and is known as a heavy corrupt police officer. Rangarao (Jeeva) is his assistant and his daughter Sindhu (Vimala Raman) is an aerobics teacher. Once, two sons of a big industrialist (Prasadbabu) kill two girls for not accepting their love by pouring acid on them. Soon, the two get killed by some unidentified person in the same fashion.
The industrialist uses his political influence and get the case investigated by the CB-CID. The police commissioner (Chalapati Rao) calls Gowri and tells him to handover all the evidences to the CB-CID officer (Ajay Sharma). Even as the CID officer is investigating, another two persons get murdered in the same fashion. The CID officer makes an in-depth study into the case and finally comes to the conclusion that it is Gowri, who is behind the these murders. At this juncture, Gowri leaves for Mumbai and kills some gangsters who were kidnapping and selling young girls and exporting them to other countries. After he kills all the gangsters, the Mumbai police arrest him and keeps him in a jail, where an international terrorist Kasab from Pakistan was placed. The CBI officer gets a doubt and warns the jailer that Gowri intentionally surrendered to the police as he wanted to kill Kasab. What happens next should be seen on-screen.
Performance:
As far as performance, Jagapathi Babu has complete justice to his role. However, the director has tried to evoke comedy with ‘mandu’ scenes, which tests the patience of the audience. Vimala Raman is okay. Asish Vidyarthi has just come and gone, while Ajay Sharma is excellent in his role of a CBI officer. Rao Ramesh, Chalapati Rao, Vijayachander, Sana and others are just okay.
Technical:
None of the technical crew has worked whole heartedly for the movie. The cinematography is very poor as there is no consistency in lighting. The editing is full of jerks and the audience will groped in dark due to the jump of scenes abruptly. Music by MM Srilekha is not so appealing. However, she has given her best in the re-recording. The screenplay is penned with an old style of narration. The director has has used real life incidents like the acid attack on a girl in Warangal, the kidnap and murder of Vaishnavi in Vijayawada, besides the attack on a Mumbai hotel by Pakistani terrorists. However, the director has failed to link these stories properly. A
Remarks:
The first half is just okay. However, the director has failed to maintain a balance in the scenes. At a time when the film was running with a gripping mood, the director gets the mood spoiled by incorporating unnecessary scenes. The climax too is quite routine and such lengthy speeches in a court scene are very boring. Watch the film for Vimala Raman’s exposure and the romantic songs. Another big draw back of the film is lack of proper comedy.
Cast: Jagapathi Babu, Vimala Raman, Asish Vidyarthi, Ajay Sharma, Rao Ramesh, Chalapati Rao, Jeeva, Kamal, Mayuri (Asha Saini), Kotesh, Sneham Shankar, Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao and others
Credits: Story, dialogues and screenplay – PA Arun Prasad: Banner - Vishaka Talkies, Camera – Jaswant, Editing – Gauthamraju, Music – MM Srilekha, Presents – Master N Kranti, Producer – Natti Kumar and Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana.

The Kennedys' was to be aired on the History Channel in the US, but it was cancelled due to the complaints over its historical accuracy. This controversial TV series, which was also declined by many other broadcasters, is now all set to be screened on BBC 2 later this year.
According to BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow, 'The Kennedys' is 'a perfect fit' for the channel. It would screen the eight-part series in May or June. "It has a very particular flavour and we are delighted to have this new addition to our schedules," the BBC quoted Hadlow as saying.
Meanwhile, 'The Kennedys' is scheduled to premiere in the UK on 7 April, and on History TV in Canada on April 10, 2011. It was to be first broadcast on History in the US in January 2011, but it was announced that the US History channel will not show the series. Review:
Hollywood movie Sucker Punch is a passion project of director Zack Snyder, who has produced, directed and co-written the story and screenplay with Steve Shibuya for it. It is an interesting fantasy film, which is completely an original flick by Snyder. It has been done with a great in-depth and is definitely a visually stunning film, which is fairly impressive to watch.
Sucker Punch, which has been rated PG-13, has the plot within the plot within the plot. It is a fantasy world within a fantasy world within a fantasy world. It is a mess on many levels and is a fairly hard film to review. There is a main plot very loosely dispersed throughout the movie, but it is so muddled by the other layers that it is very hard to tell what is actually going on.
Sucker Punch is all about how a girl named Baby Doll, who has been lobotomised due to her stepfather's greed and how she escapes from the asylum. Snyder, who helmed such techno-thrill adventures as Watchmen, lets his imagination run riot again in this ultra-violent potboiler that unravels like an expensive video game. He has worked extra hard to insert high outlook into every single. His brain is geared towards directing and visuals.
The mother of Baby Doll (Emily Browning) dies leaving behind her estate to her two daughters in 1955. But Baby Doll is institutionalized by her stepfather at the Lennox House for the Mentally Insane after accidentally shooting her sister while trying to prevent him from molesting them. He even bribes asylum’s orderly Blue Jones (Oscar Isaac) to lobotomise her before she reveals the reality. She has five days before the Doctor (John Hamm) arrives to lobotomize her. She befriends Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Chung) in the asylum. How she escapes from there along with them with the advice of Wise Man (Scott Glenn) will form the rest of the story.
Zack Snyder has been in his characterisation and has given enough scope to explore its strength. Although all character looks like an angel does not appear to be in real wold, each has its own strength and credibility to make the audience sit back and watch the movie till its end. The director is also successful in tapping out the right kind of acting from all the actors like Emily Browning, Oscar Isaa, John Hamm, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung and Scott Glenn.
Sucker Punch has sound technical elements Larry Fong's cinematography is excellent. The plot is just something that is there to explain the visuals in the same way that a video game and the camera never stops moving. There is never a scene without multiple things going on and it is hard to follow. It is like watching the world through the eyes of a hyper-active kid. Tyler Bates and Marius de Vries' music is mind(less)blowing. William Hoy's editing is also commendable.
Overall, Sucker Punch is a fantasy world. It is a video game and has massive fights, which do look great. Moreover, it has a message that each human being has some tools, but he/she has to decide what is worth fighting for. All the character and scenes are symbolic. It is a mindblowing entertainment and Snyder is to be commended for attempting to do something totally original. It is a visual feast.

actress emily browning, mild love making scene axed, jon hamm, upcoming action movie, film sucker punch, australian beauty condemn, filmmaker zack snyder, cropping sex scene, us censors, motion picture association of america, mpaa
Actress Emily Browning is very disappointed after her mild love making scene with Jon Hamm was axed from the upcoming action movie Sucker Punch. The Australian beauty has openly condemned the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and also filmmaker Zack Snyder for cropping the scene in a bid to please US Censors.
Emily Browning is playing a young woman, who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution, in Zack Snyder's latest project Sucker Punch. Talking to the Nylon magazine, the Aussie fashion model said, "I had a very tame and mild love scene with Jon Hamm. It was like heavy breathing and making out. It was hardly a sex scene... I think that it's great for this young girl to actually take control of her own sexuality.”
The Australian actress blasted both MPAA and Zack. Emily Browning said, "Well, the MPAA doesn't like that. They don't think a girl should ever be in control of her own sexuality because they're from the Stone Age. I don't know what the f**k is going on and I will openly criticise it, happily. So essentially, they got Zack to edit the scene and make it look less like she's into it.”
However, Zack Snyder's idea behind chopping it is to get the PG-13 rating so that kids under 17 will be allowed to see the movie Sucker Punch. Responding to it, Emily Browning said, "I'm torn. I want an 'R' (rating) because we can get a lot of cool scenes into it, but then I like the idea of younger girls being able to see it."
