The Story:
Ram (Jagapathi Babu) leads a peaceful and happy life in Bangkok with a successful coffee shop business and a loving family in the form of his beautiful wife Vidya (Vimala), doting son and a brainless brother in law (Harshavardhan). His life takes a turn with the arrival of two people from Hyderabad- a lawyer (Tanikella) and Shankar Narayana (Kota Prasad), son of politician Guru Narayana (Kota Srinivasa Rao), an aspiring CM through the crooked way. The trio suspects that Ram is none other than Durga, their age old rival who gave them sleepless nights. Shankar Narayana and his lawyer try several ways to confirm the true identity of Ram. Whether their doubts are true or not and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Jagapathi Babu has done it before so he didn’t have to strain much, however, he still maintains that intensity in his eyes and the icy violence in his baritone voice.
Vimala Raman is a screen scorcher, though her role is domestic, she shows her wild side in one song which is enough visual feast. She is a tempting seductress blended with good acting skills.
Kota Srinivasa Rao is the show stealer. Despite so many years, his class as an actor and his typical Telangana style dialogues are excellent.
Tanikella was another impressive performer. His character has got length and he fits into it with perfect caliber and screen presence.
Kota Prasad’s performance was effective, he has carried out his role with ease and the right kind of emotions. It is sad that we have lost a fine actor…
Ajay was brief, Ravi Kale was regular, Jeeva was natural, Tarzan was funny, Harshavardhan was average, Nagesh was a new face who is to be watched out for, he has shown potential, the others were there to fill the screen and contributed in their own way.
Any film coming from the house of Ram Gopal Varma comes with certain expectations and usually, the results are extreme- a super hit or massive flop. But this time, the director has managed to bring it a saving grace and he was sharp in carrying the film without much hiccups. The dialogues were good, the background score was neat, songs could have been better as they had a retro effect, cinematography was appealing, editing was crisp, costumes and art department made their presence felt. Here are a few highlights of the film
Gayam 2 Movie Review:
The latest movie “Gaayam 2”, it is continuation of blockbuster Telugu movie
Gayam (1993) and it is an action thriller based movie in which Jagapathi Babu and Vimala Raman playing the main lead roles. This movie hit in the theater today.
The story begins with Ram (played by jagapathi babu) who runs a coffee shop in Bangkok and he has a happy family in the form of his wife Vidya (played by vimala), son and brother in law (harshavardhan). Things take a twist with the arrival of Shankar Narayana (kota prasad) with his lawyer (tanikella). They believe that Ram is none but Durga, the arch enemy of Guru Narayana (kota). They come up with different effort to confirm if Ram is Durga but Ram persists he is not so.
The cast and crew of this movie are: Jagapathi Babu; Kota; Vimala Raman; Tanikella; Kota Prasad; Harshavardhan; Ajay; Tarzan; Nagesh; Ravi Kale; Jeeva; Revathi; and Siva Krishna. The film is directed by Praveen Sri. The music of this movie is given by Ilayaraja.
The film happens to be a continuation to the original movie ‘Gaayam’ which came many years ago. Although the 1st half was a lift from a Hollywood film, the 2nd half was great in connection and it syncs well with the audience. While there were hiccups in the emotional graph and few critical scenes, overall the pace and the narration make it watchable. At the box office, this should be an above average comedian and if word of mouth goes appropriately then it will be a hit.
Behind the Movie Gaayam 2: Going back to History, Ramgopal Varma’s ‘Gaayam’ was a sensation which rocked entire Andhra Pradesh. With same Jagapathi Babu in the lead role and Varma’s protege Praveen Sri taking the megaphone; there was good interest generated on this sequel which is of course presented by Varma himself. Let us see, how far this sequel matched the standards of Varma’s brilliance?
In the Movie Gaayam 2: Movies starts in Bangkok where in Ram (Jagapathi Babu), his wife Vidya (Vimala Raman), his brother-law Harsha (Harshavardhan) and their kid Chaitu are a happy family running a coffee shop leading a peaceful and affectionate life. During one of the violent situations, Ram kills two of the local criminals and shots away into local TV channels.
On shifting the focus to Hyderabad, Home Minister Guru Narayan (Kota Srinivas Rao), his son Shankar Narayan (Kota Prasad) and lawyer (Tanikella Bharani) get a glimpse of Ram on TV screens and were shocked to find his resemblances with Durga (Jagapathi Babu of ‘Gaayam’). Soon, Shankar Narayan and lawyer reach Bangkok to find the real identity of Ram. Their nightmare turns into reality. Yes, Ram is none other than Durga.
Now, it is turn for Ram aka Durga to explain his flashback to Vidya. (Here is where glitches of ‘Gaayam’ are shown once again establishing the old characters and their rivalry). In ‘Gaayam’ first part, after Guru Narayan has been sent to prison, he comes back and kills the entire family of Durga and Anitha (Revathi) in a bomb blast. To fulfill Anitha’s last words of living in peace, Durga changes his name to Ram and leaves to Bangkok along with Anitha’s only son Chaitu.
As Guru Narayan is now aware of Durga being still alive attempts to kill Chaitu and this makes Ram to once again become Durga and enter Hyderabad to settle the old scores. How did Durga take on Guru Narayan this time erasing both his son and lawyer? How did Durga with help of Ali Khan and ACP Prasad Murthi (Ravi Kale) blast the dreams of Guru Narayan becoming Chief Minister? form rest of the story.
Performance wise, Jagapathi Babu is still at his best handling Durga character with same elegance and as a family man in Bangkok, he was at the same élan. Vimala Raman was better match for the role and she has very less to perform except a scintillating number with too many lip locks and good skin show in erotic body postures. Kota Srinivas Rao is again at his best repeating the ‘Gaayam’ magic and same do apply even for Tanikella. Next is Late Kota Prasad, donned a fierce character which surely remains one of the highlights of the film. Comedy by Harshavardhan creates no impact and others like Ravi Kale, Ajay and others were apt.
Out of the Movie Gaayam 2: A sequel to ‘Gaayam’ requires guts to take it on par with abilities of Varma. Praveen Sri is appreciable for daring it. The way he conceived the story till first half was better and when Durga comes into picture, suddenly audience demand more of intense and gripping movements and this is where ‘Gaayam 2’ disappoints. Bringing a mix of worst side of politics and media, too many betrayals in these two gangs contemplated with rivalry has spoiled the real essence of ‘Gaayam 2.’ Praveen Sri tried the trick of Benarjee’s role in ‘Gaayam’ too many times in ‘Gaayam 2’ showing no novelty.
Praveen Sri’s intelligent finishing of movie without showing the fate of Kota’s character doubt about intentions of coming with ‘Gaayam 3.’
Jagapathi Babu’s performance, Vimala’s hot sex appeal, Kota and his son’s performance, good cinematography, Ilayaraja’s back ground and re-recording are positives for ‘Gaayam 2.

The Story:
Two years from now, the original ‘Millenium’ trilogy of movies will probably remembered as ‘the versions that came out before David Fincher did them’. The ‘Fight Club’ director has been given the task of remaking these movies, with Daniel Craig in the lead, a crying shame considering the first movie was simple amazing. But before all that happens, we have the second Swedish instalment, ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire.’
It’s a year since the events of the first movie, and Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) returns to Sweden after a year in self-imposed exile following the events of the first film. This anonymity is soon shattered, however, when she is implicated in a series of murders connected with a story her only trusted friend, Mikael (Michael Nyqvist) is investigating. With Lisbeth branded public enemy number one, Mikael must prove her innocence before it’s too late.
Whereas ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ was shock after shock, this story feels like a retread in as much as many characters are revisited, and the twists are not quite as shocking. We look deep into the character of Lisbeth, and so Mikael takes more of a supporting role, with most of the story devoted to working out why she is so detached from the world. It does gather pace and provides a tense finale, with an open-ended final shot leaving you salivating for the final chapter.
Reviews:
It may not be great literature, but Stieg Larsson’s page-turning Millennium trilogy – better known as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books – at least buries any notion of Sweden as a peaceful nation made up mostly of leggy blonds and saunas. The first book, and subsequent movie version, introduced a crusading journalist named Mikael Blomkvist and a violent, unhappy, pierced, Goth computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander. The two are crime fighters investigating the case of a missing girl who find secrets buried in Sweden’s neo-Nazi underworld that include sexual violence, misogyny and lots of guns. There was hardly a leggy blond in sight.
The film version of the second book, The Girl Who Played with Fire, once again presents a Sweden that’s hard to recognize. The heroes are back – Blomkvist, still played by the appealing Michael Nyqvist, and Salander, again given dark and angry life by the perfectly cast Noomi Rapace – and some of our old favourites as well: Bjurman (Peter Andersson), for instance, the sleazy lawyer who assaulted Lisbeth in the first movie and still carries a tattoo on his stomach that reads, “I am a sadistic pig and a rapist,” and Erika (Lena Endre), the married woman with whom Blomkvist is having a matter-of-fact and fairly public affair (at least some things seem Swedish).
The second story is even more outre than the first one, although perhaps it’s not surprising that a film starring a Goth would be gothic. Like the book on which it’s based, it is violent, complex, barely believable and filled with bizarre characters, like Niedermann (Micke Spreitz), a blond, muscular giant seemingly impervious to pain, and Zala (Georgi Staykov), a shadowy criminal boss with a temperament, not to mention a disfigurement, that wouldn’t be out of place in a Bond villain.
And Sweden is just as fraught. The Girl Who Played with Fire uncovers a prostitution ring that takes advantage of immigrant women and involves a cross-section of the Swedish power elite, all of whom seem to be involved in some way in either kinky sex or its coverup. As in the first movie, the plot has been pared down a bit, and a good thing, too: The book devotes several pages to Lisbeth shopping at Ikea for furniture, for instance, and includes a bizarre episode in which she gets breast implants that make her feel more womanly. For a writer who took up the feminist cause, Larsson could be a little tone-deaf.
A new director, Daniel Alfredson, has taken over (he also directs the third film in the series, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest), and it comes with a lighter palette. The first movie was set in the gloomy Swedish countryside, a place of nightfall and rain. This film takes place mostly in Stockholm, pictured as a clean, sunny and somewhat featureless city whose main charm is the view from Lisbeth’s luxury apartment. The city looks like smorgasbord tastes – responsibly nourishing – but under the calm lies a Nordic noir.
The movie begins where the last one left off (if you haven’t seen No. 1, don’t try to figure out No. 2), with Lisbeth returning from a yearlong world tour and getting involved in three murders. They’re somehow linked to the sex ring, and Lisbeth’s connection turns out to be one of those coincidences that powers so much detective fiction.
She becomes a suspect, and Blomkvist has to clear her name. Meanwhile, the hulking blond giant is lurching here and there, occasionally popping up with a working chainsaw to do his dirty work. The romance of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is missing in The Girl Who Played with Fire: Love here is represented by a somewhat gratuitous sex scene between Lisbeth and her girlfriend, as well as a quick glide over the relationship of Blomkvist and Erika.
The movie eliminates many of Larsson’s subplots, laying bare an overwrought but undeniably mesmerizing skeleton. The Girl series is the movie version of a page-turner: We don’t believe it, and we can’t wait to see what happens next. Kick that hornet’s nest, Lisbeth Salander.
The movie is due out in the UK 26th November.

“Farah asked Salman just once, he did not think even twice before saying ‘yes’ to her,” says a source close to the film.
Salman, Katrina to do item number
Updated at: 1556 PST, Wednesday, September 01, 2010
MUMBAI: Much has been written about Katrina’s anguish after Salman publicly declared that the two had split for good. But it seems the two actors have agreed to mend differences.
That Salman and Katrina have actually agreed to do an item number together for Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan , still comes as a surprise though, considering the actress was finding it very hard to get over Sallu.
Akshay Kumar, who is the leading actor in the film, will also be a part of the item number but it’s the ex-couple all eyes would be on.
Not so long ago, there were unconfirmed reports that Salman will do a special item number for his buddy Farah. Now, it’s official. We wonder how Shah Rukh will react to this, since his arch-rival Salman is now not only his ex-buddy Farah’s best friend but is also acting in her film.
“Farah asked Salman just once, he did not think even twice before saying ‘yes’ to her,” says a source close to the film.
Apparently, the item number opens with Salman and Akshay. A minute later, Katrina joins them. “But yes, there are frames which will have only Katrina and Salman together that will be really interesting to shoot and watch as well,” adds the source.
While Farah is leaving no stone unturned to make this song an instant hit with the audience, we also hear that Salman and Katrina are helping her out by being (or at least seeming to be) comfortable with one another while shooting this song. According to the source, the two are now on talking terms and there is no animosity between them. We hope so too.

If found guilty trio could face life ban: ICC
Updated at: 1605 PST, Friday, September 03, 2010
LONDON: Three Pakistan players suspended over betting scam allegations have a "really arguable case to answer", the anti-corruption chief of cricket's world governing body said Friday.
"The conclusion that we have come to is that there is a really arguable case to answer," Ronnie Flanagan, chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the International Cricket Council (ICC), told a press conference at Lord's in London.
The ICC has charged Test captain Salman Butt, plus bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif, with "various offences" under its anti-corruption code and has suspended them pending a decision on those charges.
Flanagan said the players had been charged under Article 2 of the code and the trio knew the specific charges against them, but declined to go into the details.
Article 2 relates to offences under the code, including corruption, betting and misuse of inside information.
The former Northern Ireland police chief said the charges all relate to the fourth and final Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's, which finished
with an England win on Sunday.
Calling it a complex investigation, he said that if the players were found guilty, they could face a life ban.
"We will go where the evidence takes us," he said, adding that the ACSU was working very closely with the British police in their separate but parallel
investigation.
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat expressed his "extreme disappointment and sadness" at the situation, but reapeated that "we will not tolerate any sort of corruption in the sport."
"There is absolutely no truth to the suggestion that there is a conspiracy towards Pakistan cricket," the South African added.
"There is a lot of sympathy for Pakistan and its players."

Israel Ready to cede parts of Jerusalem: Barak
Updated at: 1308 PST, Wednesday, September 01, 2010
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Israel is ready to cede parts of Jerusalem to the Palestinians in the framework of a peace deal, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Wednesday ahead of the start of talks in Washington, as the Israeli settlers announced they would break a moratorium and resume construction in the West Bank.
Barak told a local newspaper in an interview that partition in Jerusalem -- at the heart of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict -- would include a "special regime" for managing the city's holiest sites.
He said the killing of four Israelis by Palestinian gunmen in the West Bank on Tuesday should not stop the talks starting.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House on Wednesday for their first face-to-face negotiations, has publicly balked at dividing the city.

Bollywood to make film on life of Jesus
Updated at: 1502 PST, Wednesday, September 01, 2010
MUMBAI: It's a subject that has attracted directors from Cecil B. Demille to Martin Scorsese and Mel Gibson. Now Bollywood is getting in on the act with a film about the life of Jesus Christ.
Shooting for the as-yet untitled biopic -- claimed by studio Aditya Productions as a first for the Indian film industry -- is expected to start soon, with versions planned in four Indian languages.
Pawan Kalyan has been lined up to play the lead role in the Telugu and Malayalam language versions, with an announcement expected soon on the stars of the English and Hindi adaptations.
The film, which reportedly has a 30-million-dollar budget, is to be directed by the veteran south India film-maker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and produced by Konda Krishnam Raju, who has a number of Telugu blockbusters.
Indian media said on Wednesday that the film would be shot in India and Israel and focus on the childhood of Jesus. It will include several songs.
Rao told a news conference in Jerusalem on Tuesday that he hoped the film would spread "the message of love and peace" around the world, "wherever there is a conflict, wherever there is a war", according to reports.
Kalyan said the film would find a receptive audience in Hindu-majority India, where about 2.3 percent or 24 million of the country is Christian.
"In India there's a great tolerance towards other religions," he told reporters.
Previous films on the life of Jesus have attracted controversy.
Mel Gibson's 2004 movie "The Passion Of The Christ" was attacked for its violence, alleged anti-Semitism and historical inaccuracy.
Martin Scorsese's fictionalised "The Last Temptation Of Christ" (1988) drew protests for its sexually explicit content.

Bollywood Raises awareness on 'honour killings'
Updated at: 1104 PST, Wednesday, September 01, 2010
MUMBAI: Bollywood is looking to raise awareness about so-called "honour killings", as the Indian government comes under pressure from its own judiciary and human rights groups to tackle the problem.
"Aakrosh" (Anger), starring Ajay Devgn and Bipasha Basu, is being billed as the first Hindi-language film to address the issue, which the administration in New Delhi has described as "a national shame".
The United Nations has said there are about 5,000 "honour killings" around the world each year. One recent report said some 1,000 women a year are victims in India, mostly in northern states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
Deaths often involve young people who have married outside their caste, village or religion or have broken strict conventions on kinship in rural areas.
The killings are carried out by relatives to protect the family's reputation and pride.
"Aakrosh", a thriller due out on October 1, is directed by the film-maker Priyadarshan, who was behind the family drama "Bumm Bumm Bole" inspired by the Oscar-nominated 1997 Iranian film "Bacheha-Ye Aseman" (Children Of Heaven).
"Films can't change society. But they can be used as a tool to bring about an awakening," Priyadarshan was quoted as saying by the Bombay Times on Tuesday.
News of "honour killings" appears regularly in the Indian media.
In July, Indian police arrested five members of the same family in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly murdering a 20-year-old woman after she secretly married her lower-caste boyfriend.
A month earlier, the Supreme Court ordered the government and several states to outline what steps they have taken to prevent "honour killings" after a spate of murders, including that of a pregnant journalist on a national daily.
Global rights monitor Human Rights Watch has urged the government to crack down on powerful village councils -- or "khap panchayats" -- that order killings, and the local politicians and police who often turn a blind eye.
"Officials who fail to condemn village council edicts that end in murder are effectively endorsing murder," HRW's South Asia director, Meenakshi Ganguly, said last month.
"Politicians and police need to send these councils a strong message to stop issuing edicts on marriages... Murder is murder and customary sentiment should not prevail over basic rights and the laws of the land."
Calls for laws to be tightened have sparked opposition, with some political groups and "khap panchayats", which deny sanctioning killings, fearing a threat to traditional values and their way of life.
Researchers attribute the phenomenon, which affects all religions in Hindu-majority India, to deeply conservative attitudes and a traditional society where strong family ties are paramount.
In Islamic countries, religion is used to justify the killings while in India it is tradition and caste, they say.
The film is the latest Bollywood production to tackle contemporary issues.
Recent weeks have seen the release of "Hello Darling" about sexual harassment in the workplace, "Peepli Live", on the growing divide between urban and rural India and "Red Alert: The War Within" on India's Maoist rebels.
"Aakrosh" star Basu also featured in "Lamhaa" (The Moment) about life in violence-wracked Indian Kashmir.
"From time to time Indian film-makers have been tackling socially relevant and current topics," Devgn told the Bombay Times.
"For an actor it is challenging to be part of such a film because such films are often a mirror for social crimes. There is no honour in honour killings.

9/11 musical film to open Friday in New York
Updated at: 1308 PST, Wednesday, September 01, 2010
NEW YORK: "Clear Blue Tuesday," a musical film about love and overcoming tragedy in New York City after attacks of September 11, 2001, opens this weekend, its producers said Tuesday.
Dubbed an "indie (independent) rock musical drama," the movie follows the lives of 11 New Yorkers over seven Tuesdays in the following seven years after the World Trade Center was destroyed, killing nearly 3,000 people.
In the musical drama, the eleven protagonists "are transformed by love, desire, art, ambition, fury, grief, faith, fear, hope and, ultimately, connection with each other," said a joint statement by the producers, who included director Elizabeth Lucas.
The film, which opens eight days before the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, is "about the persistence of love and the resilient heart of a city in the face of catastrophe," they said.

Chizuko Kuwamoto and Diego Ortega can barely understand each other, but no words can bring them closer than the sultry language of the tango,
Japanese-Argentine tango champs speak universal language
Updated at: 1307 PST, Thursday, September 02, 2010
BUENOS AIRES: Chizuko Kuwamoto and Diego Ortega can barely understand each other, but no words can bring them closer than the sultry language of the tango, a shared passion that got them top prize in the 2010 Mundial de Tango.
"She speaks very little Spanish. I speak very little Japanese. And we communicate by touch, sharing our feelings when we dance," 21-year-old Argentine Ortega told reporters after Tuesday's final competition.
Kuwamoto, 42, hails from Japan, where the tango has conquered many hearts in the past half century. She lives in Tokyo, where she learned musical theater and six years ago fell in love with the exacting dance born on the banks of the Rio de la Plata.
"Feel, feel, feel... no thinking," an emotional Kuwamoto explained the secret of her success after she and Ortega won the Scenery section taking first place in the tango championship held in Buenos Aires Luna Park amusement park this year.
In full tango gear -- dark-gray suit, ivory tie over white shirt and a handkerchief sticking out of the jacket chest pocket -- Ortega embodies the very essence of the 'tanguero' of the early 20th century, when the dance was most popular.
But the young man from the farming and fishing town of Colon, on the Parana River north of Buenos Aires, makes one concession to the 21st century: he wears a tiny ear ring that would have caused outrage among tango purists only 50 years ago.
"We both feel it (the tango) beyond our gaze... we feel it in the contact of our partner. It was... you know, a very moving experience," said Ortega, his hair impeccably slicked down in true tango style.
His composure was jarred somewhat late Tuesday when he heard Mundial de Tango host, Panamanian singer-composer-actor Ruben Blades announce: "and the winners of the Tango Scenery are..."
"It's impossible to explain what you feel when you hear your name, 'Diego... world champion... It's unbelievable! It's totally incredible," Ortega said.
Moments earlier, Kuwamoto held the audience spellbound in her tight, pearl blue dress with its mandatory deep side slit made so popular in the "milongas," the tango dance halls that crowded the red light districts and seedy dockside areas of Buenos Aires and other towns along the Rio de la Plata 100 years ago.
"To tell the truth, this year the level of competition was very good. Anybody could have won. But at the bottom of our heart, we felt we could make it all the way," said Ortega, who also lives in Tokyo but is not romantically involved with Kuwamoto.
Kuwamoto and Ortega left behind nearly 200 couples in the Scenery competition in the Mundial de Tango 2010 that began August 13 and also included the Salon competition, the more less spectacular, more traditional tango dance step.
Twenty-two couples reached the finals, including three from Japan, five from Colombia and one each from South Korea, Chile and Venezuela.
Last year, Kuwamoto and Ortega ended in 13th place in the Mundial de Tango held in Tokyo. They represented the Japanese capital in that competition, but this year they decided they would represent Ortega's home town of Colon
The tango in 2009 was declared part of the world's cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Bairi Piya meets its happy ending

‘Bairi Piya’ will be going off air tomorrow however; it would unfurl all the drama before it goes down.
It’s said that Amoli would soon get to know about the wrong doings of Radhe but she would forgive him as she does not wish his unborn child to become an orphan. After forgiving Radhe she goes back to Thakur after she realizes his true love for her.
Supriya Kumari (aka Amoli) when asked confirmed that it’s truly going to be a happy ending. Like the age old adage of all’s well that ends well, the show would also come to a happy halt.
She and Thakur resolve their differences and come together. Shresth Kumar (who plays Radhe) says that the ending is not just happy, but also extremely justified. He later thanked Ekta Kapoor, the complete creative team and also the writer of ‘Bairi Piya’ for this fantastic show. The end however is going to make its viewers a little emotional.
‘Bairi Piya’ will be replaced by the show ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ that is going to commence from next week. Currently, the show ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ is holding the 9:30 pm slot.

Enough has been said about the Common Wealth Games this year to be held in Delhi.
Rahman's CWG anthem gets thumbs down

Enough has been said about the Common Wealth Games this year to be held in Delhi. Right from corruption to shady jobs and sportsmen backing out, many hurdles have come in the organising of the whole show. However, one thing that everyone was positively looking forward was the motivational and energetic Common Wealth Theme song to be composed by the revered A R Rahman.
The conference where the song was to be launched, well, didn't have the song but the details about it. The reason was that back then the CWG committee wanted the song to be tweaked and releasing it without the necessary changes would've been foolhardy. Despite all this, everyone was expecting a highly inspiring anthem from Rahman, given his current status in world music.
However, after the song came out on the internet, the response was far from encouraging. Rahman fans weren't just disappointed, they were actually shocked. The comments ranged from "this song got no vibe…I mean you should be getting Goosebumps for some event like this. It was supposed to be more like an epic song" to "CWG Organizing Committee should be made to listen to this song 10,000 times as a punishment."
Some supporters feel that the song will grow on people and with enough marketing people will like it, while some others feel that the lyrics lack the punch, still others from the music industry are of the opinion that with a wide range of Indian instruments that Rahman could've used, his song lacks Indian-ness and the sporting spirit of this event.
The theme song hasn't gone down well with the CWG committee as well who feel that the song is nowhere worth the price (Rs. 5 crore) demanded by the music composer. They are insisting for the track to be recomposed, while others on board can't understand why Rahman was given the sole responsibility for the composition and that too for six months.
Though Rahman's die hard fans stand by him and insist that listening to this song over and over again would help and some others demand for a whole new song, one really wonders if any damage control can be done when we're so close to the Common Wealth Games.

DJ Sid Wilson is getting ready to launch his solo album. He has also decided to put away the aliases -- #0, Ratboy, DJ Moonboots, and DJ Starscream.
He says that apparently he is called DJ Starscream or #0 by people and at concerts or at DJ shows or wherever he is. Wilson is at present busy fronting his own band. He has also recorded a self titled solo music album. The ‘Slipknot’ turntable maniac also hopes to release the new album by this fall even though a record label deal is still being negotiated.
He describes the music on his album as an eccentric and assorted mixture of all the diverse styles of music that he grew up listening to. In other words, fans would get to hear bits and pieces of what shaped his musical knowledge.
He also said that there’s a big influence of B - Boy in his music as he is a DJ and he used to listen to a lot of ‘Skinny Puppy’ as well as more mainstream things ‘Nine Inch Nails’. He accepts that he was influenced by ‘Beastie Boys’ and ‘Run – DMC’. He loved the way the aforementioned bands / artists mixed hip hop with rock styling.

Cheryl Cole 'to divorce love-rat Ashley today'

London (ANI): Singer Cheryl Cole is set to divorce love-rat husband Ashley Cole in the High Court today. X Factor's Cheryl, 27, filed for divorce on grounds of unreasonable behaviour by England ace Ashley, 29.
In a procedure taking just seconds, district judge Christopher Simmonds is expected to grant the decree nisi in court nine. After a six-week cooling-off period the decree absolute will be granted - leaving no legal connection between the stars.
Cheryl's legal team first sent papers to Cole last May and filed for divorce. Cole responded immediately - accepting his infidelity had wrecked the marriage. The case is referred to only under their initials - reading CAC v AC - but tops today's list of 29 divorces at the court. Neither star is expected to attend the process to formally dissolve the shattered four-year marriage.
"Cheryl is in the States but is watching things very closely. She is relieved and pleased things have progressed significantly since her illness. She just wants to move on with her life and getting the divorce done will end a very painful chapter," the Sun quoted a source as saying. "She and Ashley have no need to stay in touch and all housing and assets will be handled by their legal representatives."
Cheryl had initially stated she did not want a penny from Chelsea defender Cole. But it has emerged she can expect up to 4.5million pounds after the sale of assets and property including the couple''s Surrey mansion.

London (ANI): American singer Katy Perry says she will apply to become a citizen of the UK as soon as she weds Russell Brand.
"When I get married next month, one of the first things I'll do is apply for dual citizenship,” the Sun quoted her as saying. "I'm not too sure if I have to take a test as I've not had time to look into it. But England is like my second home,” she added.
Katy, who is in the UK promoting her second album ‘Teenage Dream’, tried to stay mum about her fiancé. "I'm trying not to speak about Russell and am concentrating on my music
. I'm trying to keep a hold on the celebrity thing. I'm a singer.
However, her attempt couldn’t last long. She said: "There's a track on the new album called Firework, which is about him directly. It's my favourite." Out in London, wearing a T-shirt saying happy, Katy added: "I'm the happiest I've ever been, as you can see by my top."

The politician being Mr. RR Patil and the celebrity in question is none other than Big B. Here is how it all started.
Home Minister upset with Amitabh

Here is a squabble between a politician and a celebrity yet again. The politician being Mr. RR Patil and the celebrity in question is none other than Big B. Here is how it all started. On the morning of August 29, Big B wrote his blog as usual where he started out with a mention about the much in talk 'Mumbai Metro rail'.
He went on to say in his blog, "The metro rail being laid over the metropolis called Mumbai, some under the ground, some above over large tracts of cement structures is taking shape. There is general happiness from the commuters, for, the misery of crowded locals and the uncertainties of the three-wheeler or the yellow black cab shall hopefully be greatly reduced. But here is the killer... its going to roll over Prateeksha!! Yesterday the authorities came over to check externally the structural condition of all houses that would get affected by the rail car moving in its proximity and they came into Prateeksha. So bye bye privacy and hello fellow traveller." Reading this Home Minister RR Patil was rather upset. He went ahead and commented to the media that Mumbai traffic has been steadily growing and the common man is spending almost 4-5 hours commuting. And it is them that one should be thinking off.
Understanding Mr Patil's ire, Amitabh Bachchan was quick to explain as he said in a letter to the media, "Mumbai as a city has given my family and me a place in their hearts besides recognition and respect." He went on to say, "My blog represents my heart and on the matter of the Metro it clearly says the 'general happiness' that it brings to 'commuters' and that 'the misery of crowded locals and the uncertainties of the three wheeler or the yellow black cab shall hopefully be greatly reduced'. Indeed I have ended the piece by saying welcome 'fellow passengers'. By fellow passenger I include myself as one."
It seems like Big B is time and again misunderstood by one and all. Earlier in the year he had to heavily explain his comments on the editing of the film Raavan and now the metro rail. Wonder what's next?

He went on to say, "My blog represents my heart and on the matter of the Metro it clearly says the 'general happiness' that it brings to 'commuters' and that 'the misery of crowded locals and the uncertainties of the three wheeler or the yellow black cab shall hopefully be greatly reduced'.

Mallika Review: Obsolete fare
Friday, September 3, 2010, 12:16 [IST] By: Taran Adarsh,
Certain stories that the Ramsay Brothers attempted a few decades ago are being rehashed and packaged in new avatars to this date. The revenge of the restless soul, the reincarnation bit, the spate of murders, the decomposed dead body coming to life… haven't we watched it all in the past? Mallika is hackneyed, uninspired and clichéd from start to end. Also, there's nothing in the film that would make you jump out of your seat or give you sleepless nights at home. On the contrary, the film is unintentionally funny and also makes you chuckle at the absurdities at several points in the story.
In today's times, when storytellers are daring to break the shackles of stereotypical cinema, Mallika comes across as an obsolete fare that offers nothing new to the viewer.
Final word? One of the cheesiest films of all times!
Sanjana (Sheena Nayyar) is haunted by nightmares and vivid visions of a murder that took place in her house. Unable to take it any longer, Sanjana decides to go for a vacation, hoping that those visions will stop chasing her. She lands up at a fort cum resort in Rajasthan. However, little does she know that things are going to go from bad to worse at the fort, which holds a dark secret deep inside its chest.
Mallika holds a new record in recent times: Practically every woman in the film goes for a shower or heads for a bathing tub every 10/15 minutes. If that's not enough, the women wear the skimpiest of outfits, which makes it looks like a skin-fest of sorts. Besides the aatma seeking revenge, there's a half-baked love story, a weirdo cop and a couple of songs thrown in to complete the package.
The writing is shoddy and the direction, non-existent. In fact, director Wilson Louis ought to know that skin-show cannot substitute for a riveting story. The music is of fast-forward variety as well, barring the remix of the yesteryear hit, 'Woh Bhuli Dastaan Lo Phir Yaad Aa Gayee'. Visual effects are tacky.
The performances are below par. Sheena Nayyar can't act. Sammir Dattani sleepwalks through his role. Mamik wears one expression all through. Himanshu Mallik gets no scope. Rajesh Khera is stereotypical. Suresh Nair hams. The remaining actors
are a bunch of non-actors.
On the whole, sitting through Mallika is an exasperating experience!

The Film Emotional Atyachar - Review
Friday, September 3, 2010, 12:20 [IST]
By: Taran Adarsh,
First things first! The Film Emotional Atyachar bears no resemblance to a reality show with the same name (Emotional Atyachar). Nor is The Film Emotional Atyachar an exposé on relationships. Now let's proceed...
The Film Emotional Atyachar is a road movie, plus black comedy rolled into one. The characters in the film are either grey or black and each is out to double cross the other. Quite an interesting thought, isn't it? Like Johnny Gaddaar, The Film Emotional Atyachar is unpredictable and keeps you guessing vis-à-vis what turn the story will take next. If unpredictability is its strength, there's a weakness as well: The screenplay isn't watertight. More on that later!
Yet, all said and done, The Film Emotional Atyachar is unconventional and unpredictable and a shade better than most below par products churned out in the name of new-age cinema.
The Film Emotional Atyachar is set on a secluded highway between Mumbai and Goa and revolves around incidents that take place in one night to multiple travellers. The film starts with Hiten (Anand Tiwari) encountering a fatally wounded Vikram (Mohit Ahlawat). The story takes off from this point onwards...
One has to be attentive, sorry, very attentive while watching The Film Emotional Atyachar. This one's not the leave-your-brains-at-home types, for sure. The story of the film is truly hatke and its execution, double hatke. In fact, it takes time to grasp the goings-on initially because the characters aren't connected with one another and also, there're multiple stories running concurrently.
Things fall into place towards the second hour and a clearer picture starts emerging subsequently. It's only towards the finale that the varied tracks merge into one and you add two and two together. However, since the story is being told from Mohit Ahlawat's point of view and since none of the characters are connected to each other, how does he know what really transpired between Abhimanyu Singh and Ranvir-Vinay? There's no mention of it. Also, the finale of the film - the manner in which the story culminates - looks convenient and filmy. Why did the director opt for a standard, all's-well-that-ends-well ending? An unpredictable conclusion would've only created a stronger impact. Yet, there's no denying that debutant director Akshay Shere has handled a number of sequences well. The camerawork is perfect and the background score, effective.
The show belongs to Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak. The duo is top notch and the camaraderie is superb. It's a tailor-made role for Ravi Kishan and he carries the tapori lingo well. Mohit Ahlawat is in sync with his character. Kalki Koechlin is charming and handles her part with amazing ease. Abhimanyu Singh is wonderful. Snehal Dabhi entertains. Sakshi Gulati gets no scope. Anand Tiwari is a fine actor.
On the whole, The Film Emotional Atyachar isn't the perfect cool and hip film, but better than most movies that come in the garb of new-age cinema.

Heidi Montag fears her nose will fall off

Melbourne (ANI): Hollywood actress Heidi Montag, who has had ten plastic surgeries in one day, is now terrified her nose will fall off. The reality TV star says she's regretting all that plastic surgery.
"It's heartbreaking. I can't live an everyday life. I can't hug my dogs anymore. Especially with my face in the condition it's in, I can't get up close or kiss them. I feel like a porcelain doll,” News.com.au quoted Montag as saying in an interview with Heat Magazine.
Heidi Montag has also been complaining about her Size G breasts and finds herself vastly restricted due self-inflicted surgical woes.

That Rohit Shetty has made some great entertainers in the past, is known to all and sundry. Naturally then, you expect the ultimate in entertainment from his next release Golmaal 3, produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision. The challenge lies in superseding the first two installments of Golmaal in terms of content and of course, business.
Golmaal 3 carries the burden of humungous expectations and the first promo of the film more than lives up to the hype. Like all Rohit Shetty films, Golmaal 3 promises lots of fun, excitement and loads of entertainment. I am sure, the promo will be greeted with ceetees and taalis at plexes and single screens alike. It leaves you asking for more!
This Diwali, Golmaal 3 is sure to strike like lightening. It is sure to tickle your funny bone yet again. Oh yes, this time it promises to be bigger and better. This writer had an exclusive dekko at the first promo of Golmaal 3. It will officially be launched with Dabangg next Friday (10th September).

Salman to convert Daler's slogan into a song

Salman Khan has the knack for recognising talent when he sees it and gives his 'discoveries' the breaks they deserve. The actor recently attended a talent hunt show to promote Dabangg and was so impressed by Daler Mehndi's slogan Yaara Di Toli Aaye for his team that he's now converting it into a song for his next film.
Says a source, "Daler sang Yaara Di Toli Aaye (the slogan of his team on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar) along with his team. Salman interrupted to say that he liked it so much that he was going to use it for his next film. He also requested Daler not to use it for anything else. Since Daler is not a music composer, Bhai requested Sajid-Wajid to complete the song."
Ashish Golwalkar, non-fiction head, Zee says, "The three teams or gharanas have a slogan, which is almost like a war cry. The three mentors sing them. Salman liked Daler's so much that he wanted to use it in his next film. He also danced with Mehndi to hit Punjabi songs. He's a great entertainer and it's always fun to have him on the sets."
The episode will be aired on September 4.
A few months ago, the actor had picked up Mudassar Khan after seeing one of his acts at an awards night he had gone to judge. Later he promised the lad that he would let him choreograph him in his next film. True to his word, Sallu gave Mudassar a chance to choreograph Humko Peeni Hai for Dabangg.

Shahrukh and I can never share screen- Salman

Now this rumour can get the best rumour of the year award! A few days ago, there was buzz that Bollywood's arch rivals, actors Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan have become friends after decades. Well, till then the news was at least digestible, but when the news struck that both of them are going to do a film together, then nobody including the Khans could believe it.
Clearing this rumours Salman in a recent interview cleared that there is no chance of his working with Shahrukh in any movie. Now, that was very straight forward attitude of Salman which made him clear the issue, but when the actor added that, he was a kind of person who does not even forgive and forget his ex-girlfriends and their mistakes, then how can he forget all done and said by Shahrukh added more into the fire.
Well, we can just wish that these two actors forget their differences and end up as good friends.

Writer/Director still rests at the heart of this horror anthology that debuts September 17th with Devil.
M. Night Shyamalan Uses Unbreakable 2 Storyline for Night Chronicles
September 2nd, 2010
The "Night Chronicles" film series may have dropped M. Night Shyamalan from their title, but the writer/director still rests at the heart of this horror anthology that debuts September 17th with Devil. While out promoting Devil, which will be followed by Twelve Strangers sometime next year, M. Night Shyamalan talked about the proposed, as-yet titled third film in the series, which he told MTV owed its villain to the never produced Unbreakable 2.
The director didn't have any qualms in stating that he basically cannibalized Unbreakable 2's script for this future project, which does not yet have a writer or director attached. He felt that the sequel would never happen, and that it was too good of an idea to pass up.
Here is what he said:
"I cannibalized the idea for the sequel to Unbreakable for one of the 'Night Chronicles'. It was such a cool idea for a villain, and it was actually originally in the script for Unbreakable, and it was too much. There were too many villains, so I pulled this villain out and was like, 'I'll make this the second flick.' I fleshed it out more and more, and thought, 'This could be a standalone movie!' I'll just say it: the third 'Night Chronicles' movie is what would have been the sequel to Unbreakable."
Asked whether or not this meant we'd never see Unbreakable 2, the director responded by saying:
"Literally, that's the question I get asked the most anywhere around the world - if I'm making the sequel to Unbreakable. I love that movie. Unbreakable and The Village are my favorite two movies of mine."
Devil comes to theaters September 17th, 2010 and stars Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, Caroline Dhavernas, Jacob Vargas, Matt Craven, Bojana Novakovic, Logan Marshall-Green, Bokeem Woodbine. The film is directed by Drew Dowdle, John Erick Dowdle.
