A new US poll has found that women would rather be thin & Smart than have sex.
Washington, Aug 14 (ANI): A new US poll has found that women would rather be thin than have sex.
The poll sponsored by Nutrisystem asked as many as 1,000 people if they would rather gain 10 pounds or give up sex for the summer.
Half the women questioned said they would go without sex, compared to just a quarter of the men.
On "The Early Show," psychologist and relationship expert Cooper Lawrence said she's not surprised by the findings.
"We live in a culture where women have been told forever that body image and self-image are intertwined and that who you are as a person is what you look like on the outside," CBS News quoted her as saying.
"And if you put on weight, people ask, 'Are you OK? What's wrong? Is something going on?' Even ... psychologists, when they sit down to analyze somebody for depression of all ages, weight loss and weight gain (are among) the criteria.
"Weight has been ingrained both from a psychological perspective and socially," she said.
Lawrence said, "The minute you put a number on something, what is your size? 'Is this an eight dress or a six?'-you're already in trouble.
Your goal should be to be healthy. You're not going to eat the things that are bad for you and you're just going to feel better and that's the goal. You'll feel sexier, just by feeling better," she added. (ANI)

Veteran batsman returns; Kaneria released from squad
Pakistan have reacted to their heavy first Test defeat against England by recalling veteran batsman Mohammad Yousuf just four months after he announced his international retirement.
The 35-year-old returns to the fray after the tourists were bowled out for 182 and 80 to lose inside four days at Trent Bridge.
Yousuf has endured a turbulent time of late, first captaining his country in their winless tour of Australia before being banned indefinitely following an investigation into the tour Down Under.
The right-handed batsman quit international cricket as a result, however he has been persuaded back as Pakistan look to bolster their batting.
Yousuf, who averages 53.07 and has 24 Test centuries to his name, will only be available for Friday's second Test at Edgbaston if his visa can be organised in time.
A statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board also confirmed that leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, who returned match figures of 1-171 in Nottingham, has been told he can return to play county cricket for Essex.
Teenage left-arm slow bowler Raza Hasan has been called up to take Kaneria's place in the squad.
"Danish Kaneria is released from the national team and is now available to play for his county Essex. His services will be available for the national squad if required," the statement released in Lahore read.
"Mohammad Yousuf and Raza Hasan are added to the national squad with immediate effect."
Kaneria's return is a timely one for Essex as they bid to maintain their top-flight status in the LV=County Championship.
The county could also now call on the player for the Friends Provident t20 finals day at the Rose Bowl on August 14 - provided he isn't recalled by Pakistan before then.

8 overs: Hampshire 78-2 (Adams 31, McKenzie 13)
Somerset have real problems here. Trego goes for 11 with the batsmen barely breaking sweat. The ball is horribly wet and hard to control, and fielding mistakes are creeping in. Hamphire now need around eight an over; they are currently going at more than nine.
7 overs: Hampshire 67-2 (Adams 30, McKenzie 1)
A crucial passage in the game begins, as spin is introduced in the form of Murali Kartik's left-armers. He gets sharp turn on the tacky pitch. Just five come from the over, a comeback Somerset must keep up.
WICKET! Vince run out 0
Kartik's second ball is well cut by Vince, who thinks it is past Hildreth at point and sets off. He is badly wrong. Hildreth throws from a kneeling position. Trying to scramble back Vince is so far out the umpire does not even call for the TV replay.
6 overs: Hampshire 62-1 (Adams 28, Vince 0)
Somerset badly needed that wicket. Well done Kieswetter! What started as a couple of bad overs was turning into a fairly serioius wobble from the favourites. At the end of the Powerplay Hampshire are 15 ahead of where Somerset were. Hampshire's second-best Powerplay this year, the Sky chaps tell me.
WICKET! Razzaq c Kieswetter b Trego 33
After 33 in 19 balls, Razzaq hits one almost straight up in the air and Kieswetter - running towards point - takes a good towering catch given the slippiness of the ball.
5 overs: Hampshire 52-0 (Adams 26, Abdul Razzaq 25)
Another grim over from Phillips, not helped by what looks like a very greasy ball on a cold evening. Seventeen from it, and 33 from the last two. After five overs in their innings, Somerset were 42 for one.
4 overs: Hampshire 35-0 (Adams 24, Abdul Razzaq 10)
Zander de Bruyn's medium-pace dobbers are forced into action as a reult of Pollard's injury. De Bruyn didn't bowl in the semi-final and it becomes clear why as his first over goes for 16. It does seem strange to bowl a part-timer when the firlding restrictions are still in place
His second ball is very short and is slapped over point by Razzaq. But he gets his off cutter going and beats Adams. But then he puts the part-timer back in his place, with six and four from the last two balls.
3 overs: Hampshire 19-0 (Adams 13, Abdul Razzaq 5)
Razzaq - one of the great one-day hitters - is struggling here. Certainly, the conditions are a long way from Pakistan - fleeces, anoraks, even a few woolly hats in the crowd. Ah, the joys of an English summer. he doess, however, manage to thread the last ball through the off side for four.
2 overs: Hampshire 12-0 (Adams 11, Abdul Razzaq 1)
Ben Phillips at 70-something mph is not fast enough to bowl short, as Adams meatily demonstrates, pulling his first ball and cutting his fourth, both for four।

2 overs: Hampshire 12-0 (Adams 11, Abdul Razzaq 1)
Ben Phillips at 70-something mph is not fast enough to bowl short, as Adams meatily demonstrates, pulling his first ball and cutting his fourth, both for four.
Gary Naylor: "I obviously hope Pollard is OK, but what a joy to read of the bouncer sorting out the slogger. More please." I have to say Adams has been just as agricultural as Pollard so far.
1 over: Hampshire 3-0 (Adams 2, Abdul Razzaq 1)
Jimmy Adams - the batsman with most t20 runs this year - faces Alfonso Thomas, the bowler with most wickets. Big inswinger first ball... but it's inside edge before pad and a scrambled single. Thomas is finding swing here. An excellent over brings just three runs. Pollard has gone to hospital and is unavailable to bowl his overs, leaving Trego and Suppiah to fiddle a few between them.
Hampshire innings, chasing 174 to win ...
20 overs: Somerset 173-6 (de Bruyn 0, Phillips 0)
Just three runs from Cork's last over, plus two wickets and one man retired hurt. There's life in the old dog etc. That's 173, nine fewer than they managed in the semi-final but 13 more than this season's par first-innings score here.
Last over ...
Pollard dropped! First ball of the over. Cork's low full toss skewed off the leading edge towards third man. McKenzie - running back from gully - spills a tough chance. Second ball: Buttler misses a reverse sweep when a nudge would have brought Pollard back on strike. Third ball and ...
WICKET! Buttler c Vince b Cork 5
Top edge, steepling catch, well taken as the white ball plunges through the night sky.
Fourth ball: Cork surprises Pollard with a rapid bouncer. Hits him - and that's nasty. Pollard collapses. Cork is straight up to his help fallen adversary. Pollard has now been down for several minutes. Pollard walks off with a plug of tissue in his bleeding mouth and a right eye closed up like a boxer. He looks unlikely to field.
Fifth ball: Arul Suppiah comes out to replace Pollard and ...
WICKET! Suppiah c Bates b Cork 0
Suppiah nicks his first balkl behind to the keeper.
Last ball: Swing and a miss last ball brings just three runs and two wickets from Cork. What a good over. But Cork wanders off head down, obviously affected by Pollard's injury.
19 overs: Somerset 170-4 (Buttler 5, Pollard 19)
Wood replaces Razzaq for what must be the biggest over of his young life. And it's one he will want to forget, going for 20 at the hands of the muscular Pollard. Having put his third ball on a length, when Pollard slices him over third man for four, Wood overcompensates and a low full toss is launched over midwicket for six. His next effort is not quite full enough - six more for Pollard, who now has 11 in four balls. This year the average t20 score here is 160 for teams batting first. Somerset are well past that already.
18 overs: Somerset 150-4 (Buttler 4, Pollard 0)
Kieron Pollard strides out with just over two overs left. As mentioned before, he almost cleared the Lord's pavilion earlier this year. Watch out!
WICKET! Kieswetter c Carberry b Christian 71
Looking again to his favoured area over cover, Kieswetter cloths it slightly and is well caught by Michael Carberry above his head. Kieswetter's runs came in 59 balls.
17 overs: Somerset 145-3 (Kieswetter 70)
Razzaq is back and Kieswetter slaps his first ball - a low full toss - over extra for six. That's just where he loves it. But then ...
WICKET! Hildreth c Christian b Razzaq 12
Hildreth gone for 12 from 14 runs, a drive through point well caught diving at full length. Ten an over from now brings Somerset 175, the second-highest score in a Twenty20 final and one that has never lost.
16 overs: Somerset 124-2 (Kieswetter 61, Hildreth 11)
Successive fours from Wood's fourth and fifth balls from Kieswetter, who now seems to be getting going. Apparently penalty runs only come in if the cap was "willfully" discarded. So the umpires were spot on in the last over.
15 overs: Somerset 124-2 (Kieswetter 52, Hildreth 9)
Four for Kieswetter - sliced through cover - brings up his fifty, now scoring at better than a run a ball. His toe-ended wallop last ball plugs just short of long-off, the ball rolling over the fielder's cap as he scrambles for it. The umpire doesn't give five penalty runs, saying it wasn't deliberate. I didn't think that mattered. Could be a talking point if Hampshire end up winning off the last ball.
14 overs: Somerset 113-2 (Kieswetter 45, Hildreth 5)
As if on cue ... Kieswetter shimies down the picth to Briggs's first ball and hoists him high, high over long-off for six, his first really clean hit today. Briggs finishes. In 19 matches this year no one has taken him for more than 32 runs. Well bowled.
13 overs: Somerset 104-2 (Kieswetter 38, Hildreth 3)
Cork returns. 100 up in the 13th over. Somerset will look to try and get close to 180 from here. But the big question is Kieswetter, who is close to being more himndrance than help just now. He still has 'just' 38 from 44 balls and is reaching the 'hit out or get out' stage. Gary Naylor suggests that Hampshire would do well to deliberately drop him should he offer a chance.
12 overs: Somerset 98-2 (Kieswetter 35, Hildreth0)
WICKET! Trego c Ervince b Briggs 33
What a catch! Trego tries to smash over extra cover, Ervine comes in much too far from long off, realises he is too close in and leaps to take one-handed above his head. Very good catch in the evening gloom. Trego gone for 33 in 24 balls, just as he was starting to get his eye in.
11 overs: Somerset 91-1 (Kieswetter 33, Trego 28)
Somerset had to start scoring agains, and they manage it, with 15 from the over, albeit in scratchy fashion. Trego's mad axeman impression continues, hoiking Razzaq's third ball for six over midwicket. And the last ball is Chinese cut past leg stump for four by Kieswetter.
Ian Copestake likes out stormcould picture: "The stormcloud photo is both impressive and symbolic on the day the monolithic footie season glowers into view. Glad to see the finals have not been scared off."
Gary Naylor has a different interpretation. "Can't I trust even The Guardian these days? Your picture is obviously a photoshop of the Rose Bowl with the stuff that comes out of Dominic Cork's ears when hit for four superimposed above."
10 overs: Somerset 76-1 (Kieswetter 28, Trego 19)
More heaves, hoiks and swishes against the accurate spin of Briggs, but just five singles from the over. Kieswetter has faced 35 balls for his runs so far, and must feel some pressure with huge hitters still waiting to come in behind him.
9 overs: Somerset 71-1 (Kieswetter 25, Trego 17)
Christian - who has swapped ends - is struggling with the ball, which ball is sopping wet and the beer towels are out in force. Despite this he keeps it straight until his last ball - so wide the umpire actually calls wide prematurely - is guided to the boundary via a toe-ended aweep. Just 14 runs from Christian's first two overs - anything around a run a ball is excellent in Twenty20. Anyone else out there following this?
8 overs: Somerset 62-1 (Kieswetter 22, Trego 11)
Ten from the over. Danny Briggs - left-arm spinner and man of the match in the semi - replaces Christian. Both Kieswetter and Trego are shifting a lot of air, until the last ball which Trego finally connects with, slogging over midwicket for a one-bounce four.
7 overs: Somerset 52-1 (Kieswetter 19, Trego 5)
Somerset are struggling to get full reward for some big shots off Razzaq, which keep finding the bottom of the bat, the splice or the edge. Just five from 10 balls from Trego, who is taking the kitchen-sink approach. Apologies for the over numbers getting in a slight muddle - now sorted.
6 overs: Somerset 48-1 (Kieswetter 16, Trego 1)
Dan Christian replaces Wood (2-0-19-0). A slip by his partner on the greasy surface almost leads to the end of Kieswetter. But the throw from deep midwicket is awry, and the batsman scrambles back to the keeper's end. Trego almsot puts his shoulder out with a slog at the end of the PowerPlay but just six from the over.
5 overs: Somerset 42-1 (Kieswetter 15, Trego 1)
WICKET! Trescothick c Christian b Razzaq 19
Abdul Razzaq replaces Cork (2-0-15-0). Trescothick welcomes him with a meaty slog over long-on, which finally lands about 10 yards over the boundary. But trying a repeat next ball he gets it off the splice and dollies it to midwicket for a comfortable catch. The man with one of the best strike-rates in this year's tournament has gone.
4 overs: Somerset 34-0 (Trescothick 13, Kieswetter 14)
Much straighter from Wood. Just four dabbed singles from the first five balls. But then an extraordinary whack from Trescothick, cut for six over cover.
3 overs: Somerset 24-0 (Trescothick 5, Kieswetter 12)
Kieswetter - struggling badly for form - gets a chance to get going thanks to Cork's waywardness. Cork oversteps first ball. Kieswetter backs away for the free hit and slices it over cover for four. Cork's third ball is wayward, not helped by the greasy ball, and is punched through the leg side for four by Kieswetter.
"I think Notts can feel hard done by," writes Tony. "Surely at this stage of a competition they should have let Notts finish their innings. DL should only be actioned if no more play is possible for the day - and clearly if the final takes place tonight that would not be the case.
The usual problem - I suspect the cricketing authorities are the same as the FA - in Sky TV's pocket." You might say that Tony, I couldn't possibly comment.
2 overs: Somerset 13-0 (Trescothick 4, Kieswetter 4)
The lights are on, the pitch is dampish and Chris Wood - 20 years old and Hampshire born and bred - is on, left-arm over the wicket. His third ball disappears for five wides, miles down the leg side.
1 over: Somerset 4-0 (Trescothick 3, Kieswetter 1)
Dominic Cork is fired up here. Always a man for the big occasion, his pace is up around 85mph, pretty brisk for a 39-year-old.
Cork's first ball - an inswinger is pushed away through square leg for three by Trescothick. His second is an inch from the edge of Kieswetter's outstretched bat, and he proceeds to beat the edge once again from the fifth.
7.22pm: In the stands there are lots of drenched Robin Hoods, Mexican sombreros and fancy-dress farmers. But a shivering Nasser Hussain thinks the rain has gone. He, like all of Sky's commentators, thinks Somerset will win it.
We are very close to a slightly delayed start, with Marcus Trescothick and Craig Kieswetter padded up and striding out for Somerset.
Look out down the order for Kieron Pollard, a man who hit his opening ball in first-class games for six and who earlier this year nearly became only the second man to hit a ball over the Lord's pavilion.
7.11pm: Unsurprisingly the pitch is a little damp. It may zip around with the new ball; the ball also turned sharply for Somerset's Murali Kartik in the semi, but he is now telling Sky that with a wet outfield he might well struggle to grip it properly.
7.05pm: In the psat seven finals days, the team who have played in the second semi-final - in this case Somerset - have generally gone on to carry that momentum into the final and win it.
Somerset have won the toss and Marcus Trescothick has chosen to bat, having also won their semi batting first. He is aiming, in the manner of almost every captain in his position, to "build a big total and put them under pressure". Hampshire's Dominic Cork tells Trescothick he would have bowled first anyway - so there. Cork also claims his side have been having a few pints after winning their semi early this afternoon. I think he is joking.
The bookies think they know who's going to win this one. Ladbrokes have Hampshire at 5-4 and Somerset as 4-7 favourites. And I think I agree with them.
6.53pm: In true understated Twenty20 style the match ball for the final has just arrived - via Royal Navy parachute. The skies look much bluer, the pitch itself is now uncovered and a 7.15 start could yet be on the cards.
Preamble Good evening all. Paul Coupar here, welcoming you to our coverage of the climax of this year's t20, where we hope the angry clouds and heavy rain move away from the Rose Bowl long enough for us to see the final, where the home side Hampshire should meet the favourites Somerset. Somerset have won both their t20 meetings with Hampshire so far this season - and fairly comfortably so.
Currently the groundstaff are in the middle in blue sou'westers, glistening with rain. The covers are just coming off, but a start at the scheduled 7.15pm seems unlikely.
Somerset look outstanding. In this afternoon's rain-reduced semi-final they beat Nottinghamshire, a side featuring five players who appeared in May's England-Australia World T20 final. The semi was swung by what must be the catch of the season - a do-or-die leap at long-on by West Indies' Kieron Pollard just before the rain butted in. Without the catch preventing a six it would have been Nottinghamshire - not Somerset - who went through on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Hampshire squeaked past Essex earlier today, reaching their target of 158 with six wickets and four balls left. No Kevin Pietersen of course for them, after they spurned a player who wants to leave at the end of the season, despite him being released by England and the county being hit by injuries. All of which suggests Mr Pietersen is not the most popular man at the Rose Bowl right now.

Review:
The days of overseas players in English domestic cricket forming lasting links with their county and become part of the club’s fabric are long gone. There are still some who return year after year, but nowadays it’s almost impossible to keep up with the comings and goings. Taking it to the extreme is Dwayne Bravo, who has jetted in to join Essex for Friends Provident t20 finals day and whose stay with the club could last one match.
It is a product of the Twenty20 game where clubs are desperate to attract big-name signings to help their push for success and it’s no surprise that talk of freelance cricketers is becoming stronger. Although Bravo is still fully committed to international cricket it is another example of a player who is willing to hire out his services to any team that wants them around the world. He may need reminding about a few of his new team-mates names on Saturday.
“I’m really excited to be over here and it’s nice to play for a team I’ve watched over the years,” he told Cricinfo. “It’s becoming quite normal for cricketers to play for a lot of teams all over the world so it won’t be a problem slotting into a new dressing room. There are some new faces, but a lot of the guys I know and have played against before.”
Essex searched for an allrounder after injuries to Graham Napier and Ryan ten Doeschate, two key figures in their Twenty20 success over the years, and Bravo will add to a strong batting line-up that includes Ravi Bopara, Mark Pettini and Alastair Cook – who has been released from England duty.
Despite the fleeting nature of his visit this time Bravo, who played for Kent in 2006, would like another opportunity in English cricket although knows the packed international calender will make it difficult for him to find a window.
“If the chance came up I’d love another go,” he said. “But there’s a lot of international cricket these days and it’s hard to find the time. County cricket is something a lot of players say has improved their game so it would be good to have a longer spell.”
The four teams at Finals Day this year – Essex are joined by Nottinghamshire, Somerset and Hampshire – know they are playing without the prize of a Champions League spot for the two who make the final. The global club tournament, which takes place in South Africa next month, won’t include a county after the dates clashed with the end of the domestic season and the situation has led to tension around the shires.
Bravo, though, is already heading to the event as part of Mumbai Indians, another of the group of teams he now turns out for. He has also recently completed the Caribbean T20 tournament with Trinidad and Tobago, where he made 116 runs in three innings and took six wickets with an economy rate under six, so brings some form to Essex and hopes to maintain that heading into South Africa.
“I’m feeling good, it went well in the [Caribbean] T20 where I got some runs and wickets. The standard was good and I was satisfied with how it was run. For me the more cricket I play the better and Essex is another challenge for me followed by the Champions League.”
Although Bravo is keen to play as much as possible the issue of workload is never far away as demands on the top players continues to climb, both on the international stage and with extra Twenty20 events such as the IPL and Champions League. Bravo, though, doesn’t believe it has reached breaking point.
“It’s all about managing your time and body properly,” he said. “Yes, there is a lot of cricket but if you look after yourself you should be okay.”

Doctor: Anna Nicole Smith medication 'overkill'
By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent Linda Deutsch, Ap Special Correspondent – Fri Aug 13, 5:44 pm ET
LOS ANGELES – A hospital psychiatrist testified Friday that medication given to Anna Nicole Smith by a doctor now on trial was "overkill" for the kind of pain she was describing.
Dr. Nathalie Maullin said she believed Smith had "a borderline personality disorder" and was addicted to prescription medications.
Maullin said she was on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in April 2006 when Smith was brought in pregnant and in withdrawal from anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the pain killer Methadone. The celebrity model told her she had gone "cold turkey," discontinuing her medications all at once because she was concerned for the welfare of her expected baby.
By doing that, Maullin said, she had actually endangered the baby and herself. The doctor said she quickly resumed her medication with Methadone and began weaning her off Xanax, both of which had been prescribed by Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, a defendant in the drug conspiracy case.
"My thoughts were these were very hard core medications to be giving for the kind of pain she was demonstrating," said Maullin. "She was on medication that seemed like overkill for the type of pain she was in."
She said it was difficult to get a medical history from Smith because she was "putting on a show" and was deferring questions to her lawyer-boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, who was with her at all times.
Kapoor, Stern and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to provide excessive opiates and sedatives to Smith. They are also charged with prescribing drugs to an addict, but are not charged with causing her 2007 overdose death.
Maullin said Stern told her Smith had been suffering from back pain for five years. She said the former Playboy model also complained of pain in her upper back and arm.
Another doctor who testified earlier this week said Smith suffered from chronic pain syndrome all over her body.
Maullin said she conferred with Kapoor by phone, gave him her plan for weaning Smith off Xanax and any drugs known as benzodiazopines which can be addictive. She said he agreed and told her he would leave the prescribing of Methadone to her.
"Did you see any pain that needed treatment with opiates?" asked the prosecutor.
"No," Maullin said.
The problem was that Smith showed no enthusiasm for the plan, the doctor said.
"It was like pulling teeth to get some response from her," she said. "She was compliant but not really interested. She was not wholehearted."
Five days after Smith checked in to the hospital, Maullin said she received a page at midnight from a nurse that said Smith's eyes had rolled back in her head.
That sounded like a drug reaction and a one-time dose of Benadryl was prescribed, Maullin said. However, the next day, she received another call saying Smith was having hallucinations.
"The nurse said that she was flossing her teeth with no floss and was out of it," Maullin said. "This was a radical change."
Under questioning by Deputy District Attorney David Barkhurst, Maullin said she did not consider this an emergency and she tended to other patients before going to see Smith five hours later.
"In psychiatry, we are used to seeing patients do strange things," she said.
Upon her arrival, Stern told Maullin that Smith "was generally acting goofy." Smith was angry and made no eye contact but seemed lucid, Maullin said.
The psychiatrist said she suggested that Smith go into an inpatient facility that deals with addicts. But Smith wasn't interested and told Stern she wanted to leave the hospital.
Maullin said she informed Kapoor and he said he would go to her house.
"I thought that was unusual," she said. "Physicians generally see patients in the office or the hospital. There was no reason she could not leave her home to come to see him. Just in terms of proper boundaries with patients, you see them in your office.
"She needed to participate in her care," Maullin said. "It's not a home delivery service."
Watch Shakira work a stage the way she did at this week's American Music Awards,
By Chris Willman
Watching Shakira work a stage the way she did at this week's American Music Awards, it's hard to imagine her ever being just a she-wolf cub. But the seeds of the "She Wolf" singer's successful musical lycanthropy were sown in childhood, when her family faced financial ruin, she tells Yahoo!/Pepsi Music in a new video interview.
"I definitely think there was a turning point in my life, and that was when I was 7, 8 years old and my parents went bankrupt," says the Colombian-born "She Wolf" singer. "It's still very vivid in my memory how I stepped into my apartment and my parents had sold all the furniture. We were undergoing a financial crisis, and of course they had to do what they had to do. They sold both our cars. I was really mad at my parents, because I considered them incompetent for business!"
But Shakira's parents found a productive way to deal with her tween temper tantrum.
"At that point, they did something very smart," she says. "They took me to the park where all the orphans lived, little kids who were barefoot and without parents, kids who had literally nothing in the world. They wanted to show me this other reality, so I could gain some perspective on things. And I did. At that point something clicked in my head, and I wanted to succeed. I wanted to vindicate my parents' social and economic position. But I also wanted to make sure that if I ever did that, I (could) do something about those kids that I saw."
When Shakira sings "Anything you want in the world" as part of the chorus of her new single, "Give It Up to Me," she's most likely singing about satisfying a lover. But that declaration could also serve as the mantra of determination for a self-made singer, songwriter, and dancer who is arguably the only major American music star to have crossed overfrom the Latin market and found true bilingual success.
Her third English-language release, She Wolf, just arrived in stores as part of the pre-Thanksgiving album blitz. It would have come out months sooner, but Shakira delayed the American edition to include "Give It Up to Me," which didn't appear on overseas versions of the CD. She brought her band and dancers to a studio in New York two weeks ago to perform this rising hit live for the Yahoo!/Pepsi cameras.
Interestingly, "Give It Up to Me" had originally been slotted for the next album by superstar producer Timbaland, and he recorded a rap for the tune on top of producing it. When Shakira decided to nabit for the U.S. release of her own CD, she and Timbaland made a last-minute decision to plug a rap by Lil Wayne into the track instead of the producer's. This live Pepsi Music performance proves the number is every bit as hot without any star guests. When you've got Shakira ready to deliver on all cylinders, who really wants to share?
"I wanted She Wolf to be an album different from everything I'd done before," she explains in the Pepsi/Yahoo! interview. "I wanted it to be dancier and more electronic. However, it still keeps the fusion of different elements from India or the Middle East, or my own country, Colombia, or the dancehall of Jamaica. But everything is in an electronica context."
Did she say India? Sure enough, there's actual tabla to be heard in this mostly acoustic rendering of one of the new album tracks, "Gypsy." Get ready for a Middle Eastern hootenanny:
The all-day shoot for Shakira's performance went smoothly, according to Yahoo! Music executive editor Dave DiMartino (other than maybe the last-minute call to "go out and rent some gypsy-esque-looking furniture" for that one number). "She's sweet, and very businesslike—not in the negative sense of the term, but sharp," says DiMartino. Though he notes that the image she's picked up in this country from awards show performances might be something like "a mutation of Madonna and Beyonce," she's also, in her more sensitive mode, "kind of like a Latin Alanis Morissette—singing with heart, versus a pretty girl who got thrown up on the stage because she looks good."
The visual component of her appeal is hardly incidental, though. Maybe that's why it's taken so long to get a followup to her last English-language album, 2005's Oral Fixation Vol. 2—because she's spent the entire intervening time locked in a gym with a trainer and choreographer?
She has a slightly more artistic explanation of her absence. "I'm like Halley's comet. I make an appearance every four years. The reason is because I spend a huge amount of time in the studio working on the arrangements and production on each song, tailoring each song to my needs and to my vision.... But I think that from now on, I'm gonna try to move a little faster, you know?"
Hopefully not any faster than she moves in the following live rendition of "She Wolf," which proceeds at just the right sensual pace for an interspecies transformation. New Moon wolves, watch this and eat your hearts out.
three teenage girls with a webcam, visiting an Internet chatroom and yielding to requests to flash their breasts.
INDIANAPOLIS – The nightmare began with a party: three teenage girls with a webcam, visiting an Internet chatroom and yielding to requests to flash their breasts.
A week later, one of the girls, a 17-year-old from Indiana, started getting threatening e-mails. A stranger said he had captured her image on the webcam and would post the pictures to her MySpace friends unless she posed for more explicit pictures and videos for him. On at least two occasions, the teen did what her blackmailer demanded. Finally, police and federal authorities became involved and indicted a 19-year-old Maryland man in June on charges of sexual exploitation.
Federal prosecutors and child safety advocates say they're seeing an upswing in such cases of online sexual extortion. They say teens who text nude cell phone photos of themselves or show off their bodies on the Internet are being contacted by pornographers who threaten to expose their behavior to friends and family unless they pose for more explicit porn, creating a vicious cycle of exploitation.
One federal affidavit includes a special term for the crime: "sextortion."
No one currently tracks the numbers of cases involving online sexual extortion in state and federal courts, but prosecutors and others point toward several recent high-profile examples victimizing teens in a dozen states:
• In Alabama, Jonathan Vance, 24, of Auburn was sentenced to 18 years in prison in April after he admitted sending threatening e-mails on Facebook and MySpace extorting nude photos from more than 50 young women in Alabama, Pennsylvania and Missouri.
• In Wisconsin, Anthony Stancl, 18, received 15 years in prison in February after prosecutors said he posed as a girl on Facebook to trick male high school classmates into sending him nude cell phone photos, which he then used to extort them for sex.
• A 31-year-old California man was arrested in June on extortion charges after authorities said he hacked into more than 200 computers and threatened to expose nude photos he found unless their owners posed for more sexually explicit videos. Forty-four of the victims were juveniles, authorities said. Federal prosecutors said he was even able to remotely activate some victims' webcams without their knowledge and record them undressing or having sex.
The cases have prompted law enforcement officials and advocates to caution teens about their activities. Privacy is nonexistent on the Internet, and once indiscretions appear online, they are virtually impossible to take back. A nude photo sent to a boyfriend's cell phone can easily be circulated through cell phone contacts and wind up on websites that post sexting photos. Once there, it's available for anyone who wants to trace it back to the person who made it.
"Kids are putting their head in the lion's mouth every time they do this," said Parry Aftab, an attorney and online child safety advocate.
Teens can be more vulnerable to blackmail because they're easy to intimidate and embarrassed to seek help. And the extortionists are often willing to make good on their threats, said Steve DeBrota, an assistant U.S. attorney in Indianapolis who has been involved in sextortion investigations.
"You are blackmailable," said Aftab, " ... and you will do anything to keep those pictures from getting out."
In the Indiana case, the teenage girl's mother called police when she found out about the threats. Authorities subpoenaed Internet service providers to track the chats and e-mails to their source, a computer in Mechanicsville, Md., according to court documents.
According to court documents, the computer's owner, Trevor Shea, told agents he had engaged in similar schemes with about 10 girls, most of them 17 or 18 years old.
His trial is set for Aug. 30. He has pleaded not guilty and his attorney, Michael Donahoe, said he is working on a possible settlement.
Didier Drogba struck a hat-trick,Premier League title with a thumping 6-0 defeat of newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge on Satuday.
Drogba treble leads Chelsea rout of West Brom
LONDON (AFP) – Didier Drogba struck a hat-trick as Chelsea started the defence of their Premier League title with a thumping 6-0 defeat of newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge here Saturday.
The striker -- who also scored three in the final league game of last season, the 8-0 defeat of Wigan scored in each half with Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda, who netted twice, also on target.
For West Brom and their manager Roberto Di Matteo -- a former Chelsea favourite -- this was a morale-sapping loss.
Last season's Premier League and FA Cup double success set an imposing standard that manager Carlo Ancelotti must try and match in his second season at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian showed faith in his current squad by only adding Ramires -- unavailable after completing a 17 million pounds move from Benfica less than 24 hours before kick-off -- and former Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun to his roster despite the exit of five senior players.
Chelsea ended the previous campaign with a swagger -- 17 goals in the final three league games -- and carried on from where they left off.
It took Malouda just six minutes to score the Blues' first goal of the season, capitalising on a error by Albion's former England keeper Scott Carson.
The chance arose after the home side had pieced together the first fluent attacking move of the afternoon that came to an abrupt end when Malouda was tripped just outside the Albion penalty area.
Drogba fired a powerful free kick through the defensive wall, Carson failed to hold the shot and Malouda finished from close range after the keeper had blocked John Obi Mikel's initial follow-up.
That was precisely the start the visitors didn't want as they began their attempt to establish themselves in the top-flight after years of flitting between the top two divisions.
To their credit, though, they responded well with Graham Dorrans testing Petr Cech with a long range shot before striker Roman Bednar spoiled a good opening by drifting narrowly offside.
They proved to be fleeting moments and with Chelsea in complete control, it was only a matter of time before the champions scored a second.
Lampard came close with a 40th minute free kick that Carson again parried only for France international Malouda to head the rebound over.
Yet that proved to be only a brief reprieve for Albion with Drogba firing another free-kick through a porous defensive wall seconds before the half time interval to drain what remained of the visitors' confidence.
Drogba added his second from another set-piece, this time from close range after John Terry's header had been cleared off the line following a Malouda corner.
Lampard struck next in the 63rd minute, five minutes before Drogba completed his hat-trick with a deflected shot and Malouda wrapped up the win with another goal in the final minute.
2 people were shot dead by security forces Saturday as deaths continued to mount during weeks of defiant protests against India's rule over the Region
2 killed as troops open fire on Kashmir protesters
By AIJAZ HUSSAIN, Associated Press Writer Aijaz Hussain, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 17 mins ago
SRINAGAR, India – Two people were shot dead by security forces Saturday as deaths continued to mount during weeks of defiant protests against India's rule over the predominantly Muslim region of Kashmir.
Unrest that has killed at least 57 people since June shows no signs of abating despite the deployment of thousands of troops and calls from India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for calm. Tens of thousands of Kashmiris staged angry demonstrations Friday after government forces killed four people and wounded 31 others.
The situation in recent weeks has been reminiscent of the late 1980s, when protests against New Delhi's rule sparked the armed conflict that has so far killed more than 68,000 people, mostly civilians.
Paramilitary soldiers opened fire with live ammunition Saturday on hundreds of rock-throwing demonstrators in Anantnag, a town south of Indian-administered Kashmir's main city Srinagar.
A 35-year-old man was killed and at least four people were wounded, said a police officer on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The shooting triggered massive protests in the town as thousands of residents filled the streets chanting pro-independence slogans.
A young man was also killed in the northern town of Narbal after troops fired at a group of stone-throwing protesters, the police officer said.
Anti-India sentiment runs deep in Kashmir, which is divided between Hindu-majority India and Pakistan but claimed by both. Protesters reject Indian sovereignty over Kashmir and want to form a separate country, or merge with predominantly Muslim Pakistan.
Authorities reimposed a strict curfew in Srinagar and in most major towns Saturday.
"We're taking no chances and have imposed the curfew to stop more protests," another police officer said on condition of anonymity because he also was not authorized to speak to the media.
Displaying their defiance, however, thousands of people staged marches across much of the region. Most of the protests were peaceful but clashes broke out in some places after security forces tried to block curfew-defying marchers.
In Srinagar, police fired warning shots and tear gas after hundreds of worshippers at the revered Dargah Hazratbal shrine refused to leave after noon prayers and shouted "Go India! Go back" and "We want freedom," the police officer said. At least three people were wounded, he said.
Hundreds of protesters threw rocks at a security camp in Seelo, northwest of Srinagar, and paramilitary soldiers responded by firing live ammunition and tear gas, the officer said. At least two people were wounded.
In Singhpora village in the north, paramilitary soldiers fired at a young man when he threw stones at a passing paramilitary vehicle, critically wounding him, the officer said.
In Srinagar, government forces laid razor wire and erected steel barricades to block access to the city's normally congested downtown areas. Troops drove through many neighborhoods and told residents to stay indoors.
The curfew in Srinagar was lifted Friday after a key separatist leader and cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, warned of total defiance if worshippers were stopped from praying at the Jamia Masjid, the city's main mosque.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Indian-administered Kashmir's top elected official, planned to review the situation with top army, paramilitary and police officials on Saturday, an official statement said.
Separatists say the protests against Indian rule will continue despite the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began Thursday.

Movie News:
One can well expect Trisha to deliver in her debut Bollywood outing Khatta Meetha. After all she is not quite a newbie in the industry and already has close to 35 films to her credit down South. In the industry for more than 7 years now, she has seen quite a lot and is pretty much established. Now that she has got a Bollywood launch with none other than Akshay Kumar as a co-star cum producer and Priyadarshan as a director, it couldn’t have been better than that. Still, considering the fact that Priyadarshan- Akshay is a tried and tested ‘jodi’, one wonders if she ever got scared about being sidelined.
“Yes, eventually this is Akshay’s film but then I don’t mind that. Many of my predecessors had some of the best kick starts but couldn’t travel much distance. I hope to make a point in Khatta Meetha even though it may not be a conventional launch”, admits Trisha who plays the role of a collector who locks horns with ex-boyfriend Akshay Kumar, a road contractor, in the film.
With the basic plot line cutting down the romance angle, doesn’t she ever feel that she could have rather started off in Bollywood with a love story? “This is my first film and I can’t be too choosy; let’s admit that”, says Trisha with a smile. “For a start, I have to be seen with big star and a director who gives guaranteed box office return. I guess this is good enough to make your first move. I won’t say that there is no love story at all in the film. It may not be there for the complete two and a half hours of the film but there is a thread of love story between me and Akshay that plays through the film.”
One hears that as a producer of the film, Akshay went extra long to make sure that she was being taken care of well. What does Trisha have to say about that? “That's right”, she confirms. “It was quite funny that despite being a producer, there was no producer-like interference from him on the sets. I didn’t see any such traits from Akshay. He was more like a co-star all the time and made sure that I give my best for the role.”

The Story :
Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai movie cover the entire growth of the Mumbai underworld, from crime and smuggling in its early stages through its connection with international terrorism in recent times. It is based on actual happenings.
The film, set primarily in 1970 Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall, when his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai. It is believed to be loosely based on the life of Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim.
The film is treated in an avante garde fashion, bursting with color, underlining the style of the 70s and 80s
Balaji and Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is seen through the eyes of a police officer. It traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld and how it all started.
The film is presented in a retro chic style and is a glamorous and powerful rewind to the golden era.
Movie Reviews:
The 'Once upon a time in Mumbai' music review. The movie is a throwback to the 70s; the feel, look, costumes and the setting is of a bygone era, including the music. So, what is contemporary in the film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai that can excite the today’s generation? It’s music! Don’t be puzzled.
Well, many don’t know that the song Pee Loon which has caught up with the music lovers so fast and is frequently played on the FM channels is from the film ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. Music director Pritam is at the helm of affairs, and the man is no less than a music wizard who has again proved his mettle with this Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria film.
Let’s do Pee Loon with Mohit Chauhan first. Yet again, the singer weaves romance in his soothing voice. Since the song warms the cockles of your heart, we will ignore its similarity with a popular song from the film Jab We Met. The Remix version of the song has a perky spirit and is in a fast mode.
Tum Jo Aye is a passionate retro song in the voice of Tulsi Kumar and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It can be your second favourite after Pee Loon. The mood of romance gets further cemented with the track I Am In Love, first sung by Karthik, who sounds like KK. Strangely, KK gets to croon another I Am In Love track. The Remix of this track wasn’t required, but the song will find its place in disc consoles.
If you think that modern composers simply distort old melodies, hear Parda. The number is mainly based on the song Duniya Mein Logon Ko and the popular cabaret number Monica, My Darling, but soon you will realize what wonder Pritam has worked in the song, a must hear for all. Parda is not just a rip of the oldies but a tribute to these numbers. And kudos to singer Rana Mazumdar who successfully belts out the voice of R.D Burman and Sunidhi Chauhan excels in these kinds of songs. Simply, awesome!
Mika gets the fun track Babu Rao and sauces up the album. Brownie points to the song for its lyrics. Amitabh Bhattrachaya has written it with a mischievous undertone that’s bold and bindaas.
Talking about the entire album, it’s the best to come out of Bollywood in recent times, and by the time the movie releases, the songs would have gained momentum. The album is for the masses and they are loving every ‘beat’ of it.
