Movie Plot Summary And Preview:
Narrated through the two wise kids of the hilariously madcap Parekh family, namely Jacky and Chakki. Khichdi - The movie is about a hare brained dream of a snail brained bunch of lovable losers. Hansa's brother Himanshu has born a ridiculous ambition that is to have a memorable legendary love story. It's all together another matter that he is not in love with anyone and neither is he capable of getting any sensible girl smitten to him. But as Babuji over wisely says that for every idiotic Praful there is an even more idiotic Hansa made, his prophecy turns out to be true.

Parminder, Himanshu's neighbor falls in love with Himanshu for no logical reason and the 2 get engaged to get married. That's when this ridiculous story line takes a ridiculous turn. Himanshu realizes on the eve of the wedding that the impending ceremony would mean impending doom to his desire to have a legendary love story. For nothing interesting ever happened in his love story to make it memorable.

It was a simple non happening take with a boring happy ending. No resistance, no conflict, no separation, no sad song, no climax nothing. And so our gifted dumb family sets out to stall the wedding. And then begins their journey to create all those missing stages in Himanshu's love story in order to make it legendary. How, in this hilariously hare brained process, they make a mess of everything and how at the incredibly ridiculous climax Himanshu eventually manages to win his love back, makes up the story of Khichdi-The Movie.

I must admit, I am no couch potato. I find it difficult to stay glued to television for hours, surfing channels randomly. Perhaps, that's one of the reasons why I never watched an episode of this hugely popular TV show called KHICHDI. But, of course, I had heard of its popularity, about its comic quotient, about the zany characters...

KHICHDI - THE MOVIE borrows the characters from the show, but the movie has a new story to offer. In the West, popular shows are adapted on the big screen, but the trend is in nascent stages here. For someone like me, who was absolutely clueless about what to expect from the big screen adaptation, I'd say KHICHDI - THE MOVIE vacillates between absurd and ridiculous, but the fact remains that it makes you laugh at most times. KHICHDI - THE MOVIE may not push the envelope as far as the written material is concerned, but you exit the auditorium with a radiant smile, which most laughathons promise, but don't deliver.

Write your own movie review of Khichdi - The Movie Final word? I haven't laughed as much in weeks as much I did in those 2 hours. Do pay a visit to this mad family if laughter is what you seek in a movie. This khichdi is appetizing, for sure.

Anjaana AnjaaniDammit! It's that man-woman thing again. This time the rom-com goes in to so many directions, you wonder what happened to those good old films where Boy Met Girl...and they lived happily ever laughter.

Laughter, there's plenty of in Anjaana Anjaani. Raucous laughter, bitter laughter, silly laughter, goofy laughter...The couple Akash and Kiara are portrayed more like two beer-swigging buddies on a road trip through the USA (shot with shimmering restlessness by Ravi Chandran) than lovers staring at the moon and dreaming of the ever-after.

This is that 1940s' Bette Davis-Clark Gable county upgraded with plenty of pub-texts where love emerges from the verbal skirmish between two people thrown together by fate. There isn't much plot propensity on display here. Once we know that the two suicidal protagonists are together for the rest of the movie the only mystery that remains is why such vibrant lives would want out.

The drama of death as defined by the rituals of daily living are rather elaborately sometimes engagingly other times tediously, mapped in the plotline which is slimmer than Priyanka Chopra's waistline. Regrettably for an interactive rom-com the dialogues are not always as savvy sassy and seductive as they ought to be.

Many times you feel the dialogues are translated from the English rather than conceived in the spoken language. Then there are the songs. Sigh. Tediously carpeting the soundtrack of the second more-pointless half , Vishal-Shekhar's music just seems to be creating a dimension to divert our attention from the two belligerent characters played by two very engaging actors who quite often seem to be inventing pretexts for their characters beyond those provided by the plot, character and the lines they mouth.

Anjaana Anjaani Priyanka Chopra, incontestably the most complete and watch able actress of her generation, makes you forget the film's obvious blemishes, mainly lengthy self-indulgent passages of pedestrian passion-play written in a tone that attempts to be flip but fails to grip. With every film Priyanka grows in stature as an actor even when the space offered is meagre as in Kaminey. Given a wall-to-wall character to perform in this film she has so much fun digging into the crevices of the person she is required to create, you end up watching only the character and the actress, in that order.

Perfect timing in the comic scenes, skilfully and subtly seductive in the bed roomy interludes and boisterous when in a drunken rage Priyanka takes over the show from her first inebriated appearance on a bridge where she spots our hero trying to jump to her death.

Ranbir Kapoor in comparison is surprisingly subdued. It's partly to do with the nature of his character (an arrogant misguided soul with little control over his ego). But you suspect Ranbir just decided to sportingly play the backseat boy this time because on Priyanka he had finally met his match on screen.

Anjaana Anjaani Zayed Khan as Priyanka's heartbreaker gets little space. But he makes sensitive use of the meagre playing-time.
With more support from the dialogues and an elaborate supporting cast (the people who get a voice are largely stereotypes, the preachy lady doctor, the hero's supportive friend and his chirpy wife, etc) the very fine lead pair would have been better able to express their exceptional skills as actors.

Anjaana Anjaani is a film that sets off a tender saucy engaging trip. It somewhere loses its way. But still gets to its targeted destination because of the lead players who appear to know all the signposts and U-turns.

Yash Raj Films next project starring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar in lead roles is titled, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. The film is written and directed by debutant Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra. Shooting started last week and the movie is scheduled for a mid-2011 release.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a musical romantic comedy set amongst upper middle class families in North India. A topsy-turvy story which takes you on a fun-filled ride of humour and romance, where Imran falls in love with his brother's dulhan!

Khichdi team's wait for SRK was finally answered on the day of its release. The entire team of Khichdi -The Movie met their inspiration SRK at Filmistan studio where the superstar was welcomed warmly with a bouquet and a big ticket for Khichdi -The Movie. SRK greeted the entire cast personally and everyone was extremely delighted to have him amongst them.

The superstar firstly humbly apologized for not meeting the Khichdi parivaar earlier outside Mannat as he was busy shooting. He then addressed everyone and showered all his good wishes, great luck to them for their movie and wished that the movie is a big Hit just like the big ticket given to him. Interestingly, he also revealed that few of his friends saw the movie and told him how great it was, so he himself is going to try and catch the late night show after his pack up.

SRK congratulated the entire Khichdi team, Fox Star, the technicians, everyone for a great concept of making a successful serial into a comedy movie that can be enjoyed with the entire family. He said to all, "Please go out and watch this film if you feel like laughing with your family, I can assure you it will be a fun filled evening."

Asian filmmakers find it increasingly tough to get shooting permission in England. And when British authorities hear about a brown-skinned community coming down to their country to make a film on terrorism and terror attacks, the Brits go into convulsive fits. Rensil D'Silva had to shift Kurbaan, his film on Islamic extremism, from London to Philadelphia.

Now it's the makers of Tezz who have gotten their project into a budge because it's a film about a terror attack on board a speeding train between London and Glasgow.

Having been denied work permits for a part of their crew the team now claims the film is not about terrorism at all!

Priyadarshan grappled and solved the huge problem of getting work permits for 14 of his crew members in Tezz, the film about terrorists holding a speeding train between London and Glasgow to ransom.

Apparently, the work permits were denied because of the terror theme. Skirting the terrorist issue Priyadarshan says, "But Tezz is not about terrorism! The man who holds the speeding train to ransom does not represent any ideology or religion. He is his own person."

Denying that the film is a remake of the famous terrorist adventures The Bullet Train and The Taking Of Pelham 123, Priyadarshan says, "Let people speculate on the source for my film. It is being said that my Aakrosh is ripped off from Alan Pakula's Mississippi Burning. Aakrosh does have two investigative officers coming to a small conservative place to investigate a hushed-up killing, just like Mississippi Burning. That's it. Likewise Tezz is about a train held-up just like the films you mentioned. But I'd say the only film Tezz resembles is Jan de Bont's Speed."

Priyadarshan's Tezz is now moving on the right track. The film starts shooting on October 10. Almost the entire shooting with the cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Boman Irani, Kangna Ranaut and Sameera Reddy would be over in a 40-day schedule.

Priyadarshan admits the work permits to be professionally functional in the UK were denied to the crew. "Most of us got the work permit. But fourteen of the crew members did not get their permits. We could not start shooting without them. That apart we've all the relevant permission to shoot in London. We shoot from October 10 to November 20. And then we're done."

Adds producer Ratan Jain, "The delay in the work permits was caused by a procedural problem. Now it's all sorted out and all the work permits have been allotted."

Malayalam megastar Mammootty has once again joined hands with reputed director and screenwriter Ranjith for his next movie.

The director’s recent release Pranchiyettan and the Saint, which received critical acclaims, also starred Mammootty. However, this time, Ranjith is only providing the script and would let G S Vijayan direct it. He is also producing the film under his banner Capitol Theatre.

Mammootty has earlier worked under the direction of Ranjith in the films like Kerala Cafe, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha, Kaiyoppu, Prajapathi and Black.

Megastar Mammootty’s recent release Pranchiyettan and the Saint has turned a hit. In the meantime, his distribution house Playhouse has earned good revenue from the film.

In the opening week, the movie has grossed about 1.42 crores and the same feat has been repeated in the second week. Thus the film earned a total of around three crores in fifteen days. From its 60 odd releasing centers, the film has now gathered about Rs 1.60 Crore as distributor's share.

The film team of Kote, which features Prajwal Devaraj, Gayatri Rao and Dimple Chopra a.k.a. Pooja in the leads, had to call off its shooting at Edga Masjid Grounds in Hubli after a local Islamic Association named Anjuman objected the filming at the controversial place. It is said that the film team was filming Holi song at the disputed place on last Thursday.

The Kote crew had been shooting in and around Hubli-Dharwad for the past 10 days. It started shooting for the Holi song at Edga Grounds in Hubli on last Thursday morning. The Islamic Association Anjuman filed a case against the team on Tuesday afternoon. In its complaint, the Association has claimed that the Edga is a controversial holy place and the film should not be shot at the place.

Before this incident, two girls suffered minor head injuries on the same day and at the same place. Since it was a Holi Song, the film team tried to blast colour filled steel boxes. But accidentally, the blast occurred at the place and the two girls named Shruthi and Padmavathi got injured in the incident. The parents of the two girls have requested the cops to take action against the film team.

However, Kannada film Kote is being directed by Srinivas Babu and produced by Manjunath and GN Murthy. Psycho fame Raghu Dixit has composed the music for the film.

Dhruv, the dumb and deaf actor of Kannada films, has signed yet another movie titled Mara LLB. Debutant director Murthy Kumar has taken up this project, which will be based on education. Radhamma is producing the movie, which will have Sinchana as the lead heroine opposite Dhruv.

Sudeep’s Ranga SSLC was the first Kannada movie to start this trend of making films on educational qualification. Some other movies on this line are 10th Class A Section, PUC, High School and 3Ne Class Manja B.com Bhagya. All of them vanished from the box office very soon without doing much business.

Eminent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that he or other Hindu scholars would be glad to guide her through various samskaras (sacraments) for the new child.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out that sources of samskaras, some of which go as far back as 1,500 BCE, were Vedas, Grhyasutras, Dharmasutras, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas and certain other smritis. Overall purpose was to perfect the individual undergoing them and making him/her fit for new stage of life in accordance with dharma.

Roberts, 42, already has three children from her current husband cinematographer Daniel Moder (Grand Champion)—five year old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and three year old Henry. She, who reportedly suffered complication in past pregnancies, is reportedly in the adoption process. There are a lot more risks, lot more things at stake, and I also think, when a film does well, then there is a lot more sense of satisfaction," Padukone said Wednesday.

Padukone also talked about her upcoming film projects, "I have signed three new films, one is a new director called Rohit Dhawan, he is David Dhawan's son and his film is called Desi Boys with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. So, that is one film," said Padukone.

"The one after that is Vishal Bharadwaj''s film and the film after that is a film directed by Homi Adajania. He has made a film called Being Cyrus, and that film is being produced by Illuminati Films, the same films that produced Love Aaj Kal, and that is with Imran Khan," she added.

Padukone is now hoping that 2010 ends on a good note for her with Break Ke Baad and Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se ready for release in the last week of November and first week of December, respectively.

Break Ke Baad is a romantic comedy starring Padukone and Imran Khan in the lead and has been directed by debutant director Danish Aslam.

On the other hand, Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se is a period film opposite Bollywood heartthrob Abhishek Bachchan, which has been directed by Ashutosh Gowariker of the Oscar-nominated Lagaan fame.

New York (ANI): After sharp-tongued Simon Cowell’s exit, it’s Jennifer Lopez’s turn to judge ‘American Idol’, and she promises a kinder, more nurturing show.

"I don't want to let anybody really great [not make it through] because they're nervous, and not get to see what they could have did," The New York Daily News quoted Lopez as saying. "So we work them a little bit more than maybe you've seen in the past. We've given them more of a chance,” she added.

That may be probably because Lopez and fellow newbie Steven Tyler have experienced firsthand the struggles of a rising performer. "We know what it's like to be out there," Lopez said. The singer said she's already been a combination of 'tough, easy and fair' in just the first two days of judging.

Tyler, who grew up in Yonkers, said he was impressed with the local talent that showed up at the Liberty House restaurant in Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from downtown Manhattan. The rocker’s advice for those who didn't impress him, "Don't get mad at what we say, get better."

Lopez said she is looking for a sense of style and a good voice in participants. "It's definitely part of the package when you're going to be an artist," she said. "[It's important] that you have your own image, and that it's very unique. What we're looking for, I don't know. It's individual for each person."

Last month while A R Rahman recorded the background music of Jhootha Hi Sahi at the world-famous Capitol Studios in Hollywood, LA (the Mecca for everything music) he had an unexpected visitor. It was none other than the dazzling Monica Mancini, the daughter of the legendary Pink Panther composer Henri Mancini.

Double Grammy-nominee Monica Mancini, whose father Henri is to film scores what Rahman is to film music, wanted to meet the Slumdog Millionaire composer, apparently for collaboration in the near future.

Monica's interest in Rahman's music extends beyond the academic. Like her legendary father, Rahman's background scores for films are as exemplary as his vocals. Monica apparently, wants to carry forward her father's legacy through a collaborative album with Rahman.

While Rahman refrained from talking about his meeting with the Mancini heir (apparently Rahman is off the press until after the Commonwealth Games) the Jhootha Hi Sahi director Abbas Tyrewala confirmed the meeting.

"Yeah, Monica Mancini did drop in to meet us. Actually her husband Greg played drums for our score. That's how she got to know about Rahman's presence in LA."

Abbas said he was unable to give details of Monica's conversation with Rahman. Says the director, "I was too excited about recording in the same studio where everyone from the Beatles to Louis Armstrong have recorded."

London(ANI): Eminem could be seen in bed with Rachel Weisz and Frances McDormand in new film ‘360’. The rap star is in talks to appear in a drama about promiscuous couples whose sexual dalliances come full circle.

The MC, real name Marshall Mathers, starred in ‘8 Mile’ in 2002 and has since popped up in ‘Entourage’ and Judd Apatow comedy ‘Funny People’, reports the Sun.

‘360’ is based on a play called ‘Reigen’, by Arthur Schnitzler, where each scene ends with a couple in bed either before or after sex.

Amy Adams will now be seen in a darker role, that of Janis Joplin, in an upcoming biopic.

Washington(ANI): Amy Adams, usually known for playing characters with sunny dispositions, will now be seen in a darker role, that of Janis Joplin, in an upcoming biopic. Adams confirmed at the week's Variety Power Women's Luncheon that she would play late rocker Janis Joplin.

"It's there", the New York Post quoted Adams as saying.

A huge fan of the rocker, who died in 1970 at the age of 27 after an overdose of heroin, Adams, 36, said she has mixed emotions about taking on the character of one of America's edgiest, most esteemed music legends.

"I'm feeling excited, scared - all of the things," she added
