Veluthu kattu fan Reviews: The first half doesn’t make any impression as the first hour stumbles down on every aspect. Soon as the scenes involve protagonist’s journey to Chennai, it makes some sense as S.A. Chandrasekhar tries inserting some realities into it. But sooner as you find Bank Manager granting Rs. 25Lakhs as loan without any residential proof for the sake of a girl’s reputation, this will send you in a hell of laugh. Just as it happens with other nativity based films, Kathir is projected as a rough village guy with thick beard and oily face. Arundhathi looks impressive on her performance, while rest of the star-casts hasn’t got anything special to mention. The film has poor technical qualities as neither camera nor music is done on perfect notes.If you’re looking out for S.A. Chandrasekhar’s DIRECTOR CUT, it is so visible during last 3 ½ minutes of climax. Verdict: As on whole, ‘Veluthu Kattu’ doesn’t have a reason to make it worth watching. The first thing that’ll puzzle you after watching this film is what is actually S.A. Chandrasekhar trying to convey. Ennobling this as a biopic, the auteur promoted the film vigorously passing buzzes on air. Indeed, the pre-release business of this film possibly mounted everyone’s expectations over this movie. The film opens with much other yesteryear Vikraman films as a boy and girl in 5th grade profess their love for each other. Years later, Kathiresan (Kathir) is requested by his belle Arukani (Arundhathi) to come up in life that departs him to Chennai. Much prior to his journey, we witness Kathir chopping of a person’s hand for touching Arukani. Soon after intermission, Kathir follows the similar pattern of ‘Annamalai’ Rajnikanth of striking gold within overnight. Finally, it’s all about Kathir launching a fantastic A/c restaurant in his village Singampetti that hardly has 100 huts.

Holi Kannada Movie Review: Actress Ragini Dwivedi’s first Kannada film Holi, which has been delayed for long over some unknown reason, is now set to release this ‘holi’, a festival of colours. The movie has been directed by Shankar Sugganhalli and produced by Lalitha Shankaraling Sugganhalli and Rajashree under the banner Bhagyashree Cine Combines. Ragini Dwivedi and newcomer Venkatesh Prasad are playing the lead roles in it. The Story : Holi movie is about Devadasi system, which is still prevailing in the society. Venkatesh Prasad and Ragini Dwivedi are in lead roles. Along with ‘holi’ festival, the movie Holi deals with a serious problem like ‘Devadasi’ system (prostitution), which is still prevailing in India. The movie has a village story as its backdrop. Kannada dialect of Hubli-Dharwad is used in the movie. Director Shankar Sugganahalli has penned story and screenplay for the movie. The story of the movie is that a girl is left in the name of god in a village. The rich person of the village is infatuated by her and he tries to harass her. Meanwhile, a young guy comes to help her. He becomes friend to her and ultimately falls in love with her. Who marries her will form the climax of the movie. Kodur Padmanabh has cranked the camera and Amarpriya has scored music for the movie Holi, which has K Pradeep’s editing, Prof. GH Hanneradumath and Pundalika Kalliganoor’s lyrics and dialogues, Siddu’s stunts and Muralikrishna, Anand and Dayananda’s choreography. Shobharaj, Pavithra Lokesh, Doddanna, Karibasavayya, Padmaja Rao, Bank Janardhan and BC Patil are also in the cast. ‘HOLI,” an Indian film directed by Ketan Mehta, is set in what appears to be an Indian equivalent of one of our coeducational high schools, where the students live on campus and suffer the same frustrations of students their age all over the world. Most of the faculty members are dolts, the curriculum is out of touch with the students’ needs and the male students and female students lust after each other, but discreetly. On this particular day, the students are upset because an annual religious holiday, celebrating ”the burning of evil” and God’s coming to the rescue of the faithful, is canceled in favor of the observance of the school’s Founder’s Day, a boring, very proper ceremony presided over by a visiting educator of immense pomposity. ”Holi,” directed by Ketan Mehta and based on a play by Mahesh Elkunchwar, seems sometimes to be a parody of conventional Indian films – as in a scene in the school cafeteria that turns into a rowdy but carefully choreographed song-and-dance number – and sometimes to be a serious melodrama about youth in protest. Some of the dialogue is funny, as when several disenchanted young men talk about their fathers. One fellow reports that his dad, a contractor, has become successful by constructing buildings designed to collapse. Another brags that his father does even better because of the bribes he receives as a Government official, while a third, the son of a doctor, swears that his father makes his fortune by finding ever-new ways to keep people sick. When one wayward student, standing on the dormitory roof, is asked what the school looks like from up there, he answers as if he were a young playwright: ”Like a factory that manufactures slaves, or a prison.” The students’ general anger is made even more particular when they receive word that the school has decided to drop several liberal-arts courses in favor of business courses. By the time of the Founder’s Day ceremony, there’s no restraining them. After heckling the principal guest, who insists on speaking in English instead of Hindi, they pelt the man with garbage, provoking a melodramatic climax not easily supported by the quality of the fiction that precedes it. The film, which the production notes report was largely improvised, is very decently and exuberantly performed by the nonprofessional actors. ”Holi” is, however, less interesting as melodramatic comedy than as evidence that kids in the third world are really no different from those in the first and second. These students have an additional burden: the remains of a dual identity imposed on them by Empire.

A rape case registered against the boy 12-year-old rapes girl older than him
New Delhi, Jul 2: In an incidence of 'age is no bar' sexual predation, a 12-year-old boy raped a girl two years older than him in central Delhi. Police on Thursday, Jul 1 informed that the incident took place on Wednesday, Jun 30 at a servants quarter of an Indian Administrative Service official on Bhagwan Das Road in Tilak Marg area of central Delhi. A rape case was registered against the boy after the medical examination done on the 14-year-old girl proved that she had been subjected to sexual abuse. "The boy has been arrested and sent to a juvenile home," a police official said. The parents of the victim alleged that she was raped when she was alone in the quarter. The parents of the culprit as well as the victim work as domestic helps in the homes of government officials.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to file a Rs 1200 crore-fraud case against suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) Commissioner Lalit Modi
BCCI to discuss Lalit Modi's fate: Mumbai, July 3 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to file a Rs 1200 crore-fraud case against suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) Commissioner Lalit Modi. Modi's fate may be decided today, as the BCCI has convened its special general meeting to draft action plan against him.
The BCCI has reconstituted the Disciplinary Committee that will investigate the matter against Modi with Jyotiraditya Scindia replacing Shashank Manohar as the third member. It has been reported that around thirty members will be attending the meeting and those allegedly close to Modi are expected to miss this special meeting.
The three-point agenda of the meeting to be held at the Board headquarters will ratify the action of Srinivasan in referring the charges against Modi issued in the three show cause notices served to him to the Disciplinary Committee for further proceedings among other things. The BCCI had earlier in May given a show cause notice to Modi on charges of financial irregularity. There are five main charges against Modi, ranging from receiving kickbacks for allotting TV broadcast rights to indiscipline and leveling baseless charges against the BCCI. He is also facing charges of rigging the bidding of two new IPL teams, which were eventually won by Sahara and the Kochi IPL consortium and also for being a ghost owner in three IPL teams. Modi has claimed that he has submitted most of the relevant IPL documents. They include all franchisee agreements, global media rights agreements, the global media rights packages, bid documents, media rights licensee agreements, eligibility letters of all bidders with details and all sponsorship agreements entered into by IPL. With both sides having shown glimpses of potential in the initial rounds, it was hoped that Paraguay vs Japan (one of the weaker of the second-round ties) would turn out to be an unexpected treat – but sadly it proved not so. What followed were 120 minutes of some of the most wretchedly uninspired football I, as well as many others, have ever borne witness to. With the two teams unwilling to gamble, penalties seemed a formality from as early as the first-half and – after two hours of moribund torture – they were duly (and mercifully) forthcoming.

Reviews: Once again, The Asylum slaps on the prefix "mega" on one of its microbudgeted creature features. This time around, it's MEGA PIRANHA (2010), a ferocious fish story that almost justifies itself through its sheer audacity. Scientists (pop star Tiffany, Jude Gerard Prest and Jesse Daly) working at a UN laboratory in Venezuela, accidentally release a strain of genetically-engineered super (or "mega") piranha into a local river. Now, these finny fiends are more than just voracious carnivores - they can gnaw through wood and metal boats, leap through the air, and can reproduce asexually. Even more impressively, they double their size every hour or two, and are headed downriver toward the open sea. When an American ambassador is killed in an early attack, a secret agent (athletic Paul Logan, TERMINATORS, MEGAFAULT) is dispatched (by government "secretary" Barry Williams, THE BRADY BUNCH) to South America, where he teams up with the scientists to battle the gargantuan guppies.
Written & directed by Eric Forberg with amusingly inconsistent visual effects by Rogue State, MEGA PIRANHA is cheerfully stupid and briskly paced nonsense. The dialogue is ludicrous, the characters are one-dimensional, and the shoestring budget is evident in almost every shot. But - the story structure is actually pretty sound, with a constantly-escalating threat that gives the flick some genuine momentum. If the ultimate solution to the threat seems rather anticlimactic, it's only because Forberg has systematically built his monsters into something truly formidable - too much so, in fact, since he ends up writing himself into a narrative cul de sac. MEGA PIRANHA's not especially good, but it is entertaining. I laughed out loud pretty much every time a giant piranha leaped from the surf to crash suicidally into a building, which would then inexplicably explode. The scene where Logan fends off an attack of multiple jumping fish monsters by lying on his back and kicking them away is so ridiculous, that you have to grin at the audacity of the filmmakers. Someday, though, The Asylum should really hire a screenwriter who can actually pen human-sounding, witty dialogue....
Review: The U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela dies when his party boat sinks into the Orinoco River and officials automatically assume it was an assassination. Secretary of State Bob Grady (Barry Williams) calls in Jason Fitch (Paul Logan) to remedy the situation. Fitch is the most muscle-bound “analyst” the government employs and is viewed as the only man for the job (despite the endless resources available to the U.S. government). He is to review the situation with military leader Colonel Diaz (David Labiosa) and find out what was responsible for the ambassador’s death. Upon arrival, Fitch is met by Sarah Monroe ('80s pop-star, Tiffany), a scientist who warns him that genetically engineered piranhas are behind the incident. Colonel Diaz puts on a great show of bravado against the overly macho American, and is quick to dismiss the scientist’s claims as those of a money-hungry opportunist. Fitch soon discovers that there really are giant piranhas in the river and they are only kept at bay by a giant beaver dam. Diaz orders an air strike against the fish and destroys the dam with rockets that somehow manage to miss the fish. Now free to swim where they please, the piranhas set a course for the United States with the added bonus threat of doubling in size every 36 hours.
Oh - I actually liked the song that Tiffany sings over the closing credits. It has nothing to do with the movie, but she sings it well. The Asylum DVD presents MEGA PIRANHA in a perfectly satisfactory 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Audio options are 5.1 Surround and 2.0 stereo. Bonus features consist of a "Making Of" featurette, a blooper reel, and trailers for other Asylum movies. It's better than the same studio's MEGASHARK VS. GIANT OCTOPUS, if that counts for anything, and if you enjoy giant monster movies, you may want to check it out when they rerun it on the SyFy channel. But if you have no patience for unconvincing CGI helicopters and carnivorous fish, bad acting and utterly imaginary "science" - or if you actually expect a movie called MEGA PIRANHA to be "good" - save yourself the irritation and give it a pass.

Fireball made an appearance on the SyFy channel early in 2009 and an anonymous review at Disc Dish says of the film "sadly, there’s nothing Marvel-ous about Fireball." But, in fact, Fireball is not so melancholy and one of MTI Home Video's more entertaining releases for 2010. The film's plot requires some imagination as character Draven, played by Aleks Paunovic ("BattleStar Gallactica), becomes a human match after ingesting a heavy dose of steroids and coming in contact with a raging fire. Draven's DNA from here on in replicates itself into a new form and allows this character to regenerate tissue, quickly. Unfortunately, for everyone else in the film Draven has a short temper and a bone to pick with almost everyone. Soon an entire town is up in flames with Draven scouting out the local nuclear power plant for a pyrotechnic inspired good time. Fireball is not Shakespearean drama, nor does the film try to be; simply put, Tabori's latest is mostly mindless entertainment. Disc says of the entertainment qualities of Fireball: "it’s hard to get fired up about Fireball;" yet, the interaction between investigators Ava, played by Lexa Doig ("V") and FBI agent Lee Cooper (Ian Somerhalder) are witty enough and evocative enough to create for a fun time. Somerhalder seems awkward in some of his scenes as a high profile lead investigator, but the action sequences and dastardly exploits of character Draven keep up the intensity and the thrills. One of the most entertaining aspects of the film is watching almost a whole town go up in flames! Propane tanks explode on unaware victims and fuel trucks are used for murderous adventures. As well, the creation of an actual fireball by the antagonist leads to some hilarious stunts as characters scramble to get away. The film may not reinvent the wheel, yet the stunts, action sequences and pyromania are sure to delight some of the more sadistic cinephiles out there.Fireball will release on to DVD June 22nd through MTI Home Video and the fun will explode on your television screen if you like a little escapism in your DVD catalog. Do not underestimate Fireball despite a few flaws and instead appreciate an action film created by an action star. Writing/plot/story: 6.5 (imaginative, but the creation of the human Fireball could have been given a little more attention). Characters/characterizations/action: 7 (the investigators are likeable, but the character Draven could have been given some more dimensions and his character's motivations explored further). Editing/continuity/pacing: 7 (a continuity error with an exploding propane tank and the absence of smoke, pacing is ever moving forward, one editing challenge where a van explodes and looks unbelievable - how did the characters escape).
Users Reviews: Like every sci fi channel movie, Fireball has its highs and lows. Lows in sci-fi channel movies are always the special effects and the budget. That being said, I enjoyed this more than usual "monster" schlock you find on Sci Fi. I enjoyed the science of this movie as well as Lexa Doig's character as the walking textbook. As a science teacher I enjoyed the science (and the pseudo-science) of explaining a human torch. Is it possible? No. But I bought it. I also like that the the guy who played the Agent was a pretty boy instead of the usual aging-alcoholic-just divorced-john McLean-type. All in all it's worth your time if you like Sci Fi Original Movies and of those movies is one of the ones I have enjoyed more.

Just in case you found yourself worrying about it in the wee hours of the night, you can rest assured knowing that the Argentines will be allowed to have sex during the World Cup. Whew. Although Maradona is running this ship, just don't think this means the Argentina camp is going to turn into one big weird swingers party. Goal.com claims: The Argentina World Cup squad, which includes the likes of Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez, have received the green light to have sex with regular partners during the World Cup as long as it is on non-match days. Argentine team doctor Donato Villami, speaking on Argentina radio station Radio Del Plata, said: "The players will be able to have sex during the World Cup in South Africa, but with regular partners and without champagne or other drinks."
OK, so, let's go over this. The players can only have sex on non-match days, presumably to preserve fitness and recovery, and can't just go man-slutting it up all over Africa. They can have sex with regular partners, but are, under no circumstances, allowed to have sex with champagne or any other beverages. Why someone would try to have sex with a bottle of champagne is beyond me, but clearly the team doc felt the need to make that clear. Whatever floats your boat.

Low budget movie with poor acting,dull script,slow moving plot that drags along so painfully, I had to stop watching it part way through and then go back to it later.For a plane that is supposed to have all the bells and whistles,the inside looks like something I flew in ten years ago.Now,I may not be the sharpest pencil in the box but if almost a dozen people got aboard a plane all wearing a bandaid in the same spot, I sure would be suspicious that something was going on.It also portrays women as not being very bright.I am guessing every actor in this movie is a first timer.Also, what experienced pilot endangers himself while folllowing a plane?They are not that stupid. Washington (ANI): British supermodel Naomi Campbell could be jailed for up to 7 years if she refuses to give evidence in an ongoing trial of ex-President of Liberia, Charles Taylor. An international court subpoenaed Campbell to testify in the war crimes trial of Taylor, warning her that she could be jailed for up to seven years if she refuses to show up. The Special Court for Sierra Leone ordered Campbell forcing her to testify after she avoided prosecutors for a year and made it clear that she had no plans of being a part of the case. The 40-year-old model was ordered to appear in a Hague court on July 29 at 9 am or to show an authentic reason why she could not comply with this subpoena, reports Fox News. Refusal of the summon may lead to prosecution for contempt, which carries a maximum seven-year prison sentence along with a fine of 2 million Sierra Leone leones, or about 510 dollars, according to the subpoena released by the court.

An Article On Elijah Wood : Continues to explore the diverse acting roles in his film career, Elijah Wood is now putting an eye on thriller genre. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the "Deep Impact" star has reached a deal to take part in the international crime feature "Oxford Murders", an adaptation of Argentinean writer Guillermo Martinez's award-winning novel of the same title. Set to appear opposite John Hurt, Wood will portray a young student who comes under the wing of a Sherlock Holmes-style mentor as he gets intrigued by a murder that takes place where he lives. Shooting is scheduled to start on January 22 in London and Oxford, England under Tornasol Films banner with Alex de la Iglesia directing as well as penning the script.
