Already assured of their maiden medal in the Commonwealth Games, a confident India will be hoping to ride on home support to seek a major upset against world champions and three-time gold medallists Australia in the final of the men’s hockey event at the Commonwealth Games, here on Thursday.
The Indians have already scripted history by ensuring themselves at least a silver medal since hockey’s introduction in the Games in the 1998 Kuala Lumpur edition after beating England 5-4 via tie-breaker in a dramatic second semi-final on Tuesday.

Thursday’s title clash also gives India a great opportunity to avenge their identical 2-5 loss to the mighty Kookaburras during the pool stages as well as during the World Cup held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here, earlier this year.
A win on Thursday will not only give eight-time Olympic champions India it’s first-ever Commonwealth Games gold but will also do wonders for the national game, which is battling hard to redeem its lost pride.

The Indians are also on a roll as, after being piped to the corner in the preliminary stage, they made a remarkable comeback and defeated Pakistan 7-4 in their must-win final pool match to make it to the semis.
In the semifinal against ever-improving England, India displayed a lion-hearted performance and came back from two goals deficit to win the encounter 5-4 in the penalty shoot out.

In both the crucial matches against Pakistan and England, the Indians were helped by a packed, vociferous crowd who screamed their heart out to support the home team. And Australia too, India would be hoping a similar atmosphere if not less which will give them that extra advantage.

London (ANI): Taylor Swift has penned a brand new song called 'Back To December' in a bid to apologize to an ex-boyfriend whom she treated 'carelessly'. Admitting that she often writes about her love life, the country star added that her latest song has sparked speculation as to who the subject of her latest lyrical rendition was.

"The person I wrote this song about deserves this. This is about a person who was incredible to me, just perfect to me in a relationship, and I was really careless with him... This is a song full of words I would say to him," the Daily Star quoted Swift as telling E! Online.

On the track, Swift sings, "You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye. So this is me swallowing my pride. Standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night."

Miley Cyrus' racy dance moves in latest music video
Monday, October 11, 2010, 11:57 [IST]

London (ANI): Miley Cyrus is out with her latest music video, which is more provocative than all her previous ones. The singer, 17, has released her new video for 'Who Owns My Heart', and will no doubt stir more controversy from her racy dance moves and barely-there wardrobe, reports the Daily Mail.

A scantily clad Miley starts the clip by writhing in her underwear on a bed where she starts singing lines like 'dancing on the floor with you.... I feel you pumping through my veins'. The teenager then gets up to put her make-up and skimpy outfit on for a night at a club, despite being under-age and unable to drink alcohol.

The clip then skips to a scene in the back of a car, where Miss Cyrus is on her way to the club wearing barely-there hot pants. She continues to sing while showing off her legs before finally arriving at the club to dance and grind with both men and women.

Her latest song explores Miley's confusion over 'who owns her heart', and she clearly isn't holding back her sexy image despite the criticism she's received in the past. 'Who Owns My Heart' is the latest single to be released from her third studio album 'Can't Be Tamed'.

New York, (ANI): Actress and singer Hilary Duff has a new role these days - that of a romance novelist. Duff is promoting her latest venture 'Elixir' at Borders Books & Music at Columbus Circle bookstore.

The Lizzie McGuire actress, who recently appeared on Gossip Girl, has been out promoting the novel with a media tour, according to PerezHilton.com, reports the New York Daily News.

The book, written with Elise Allen and aimed at young adults, focuses on a young photojournalist, Clea Raymond, who's job takes her around the globe.

But after her father, a prominent surgeon, disappears during a humanitarian mission, Raymond's photos start changing and begin to focus on images of a strange man she's never encountered. The book weaves mystery, a dangerous love circle and a powerful secret into the plot, according to Amazon.com.

A review of the book on HollywoodCrush.mtv.com noted, "Think of it as 'The Time Traveler's Wife' starring a much-more-grounded version of Serena van der Woodsen."

When asked if the book might ever be adapted to the big screen, the reviewer replied in affirmation, "Because a novel this good is just begging for a big-screen adaptation. After gulping up 'Elixir,' I'm ready for another dose."

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma may be going great guns in films but she is not lucky in love life. The grapevine is abuzz with the news that she has split with her boyfriend actor Ranveer Singh.

It is said that the lovebirds have amicably decided part ways in order to concentrate on their film careers. They started dating this April year but kept it under wraps, as Yash Raj Films had asked Ranveer, the actor of its forthcoming film Band Baaja Baarat, to keep it low and avoid making public appearances together.

Anushka Sharma, who made her debut with Shahrukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, had earlier said that she and Ranveer were just friends. She was also linked to Shahid Kapoor, her co-star in Badmaash Company.

Rishi Kapoor is happy. It was after three decades that he and Neetu Singh decided to return as onscreen pair in Do Dooni Chaar. If audience reception to the film is any indication, the comeback has been worthy enough after all.

"Those who have seen the film have loved it. That's heartening enough. As actors you can do as much to give your best to the film. The release is not in our hands. There is a team looking at these aspects though from what I have heard so far, the footfalls have only been on a rise ever since Do Dooni Chaar released last Friday,” says Rishi Kapoor, who has come up with one of his most realistic performances ever.

As a Mathematics teacher, who brings home a car, Rishi Kapoor has seen wide positive reactions coming his way with congratulatory messages and calls pouring in right through the weekend.

"Appreciation has been there. It would be great to have many more people waking up to the film as well,” the veteran actor comments, "If the film can run at better show timings from here on, it would further add on to its visibility."

One looks forward to that as well. While the critics' response to the film has been unanimously positive, making it one of the best reviewed movies of the year, the authenticity in the middle class setting has been applauded by one and all.

"Do you know that the sweaters that I wore in the film were personally picked by me from street side shops of Lajpat Nagar?” informs Kapoor, who totally got into the skin of the character for the film, "They cost a mere Rs. 200 but neither me nor Neetu minded wearing them as they went well with the characters that we portray in the film."

He is also happy that his better half's long impending comeback has been received whole heartedly by one and all. "We had a belief in Do Dooni Chaar that it would be a worthy comeback for Neetu. This belief has now come true with the reception that she as well as the film has got. It also makes us believe that we must have done something good,” he says.

Rishi Kapoor is now looking forward to the film to stay strong at the box office despite competition in the form of multiple releases in the coming Fridays. "Do Dooni Chaar is for the family audiences and it is a known fact that women don't really venture out of their houses during Navratras. Post Dusshehra, I anticipate an increased number of footfalls,” he concludes on a positive note.

Rohit Shankar Thakur, a die-hard fan of Salman from Jabalpur, ran away from home with just a school bag containing two pairs of clothes to see his hero. He came to Mumbai by train but was stranded in the big city. He slept on footpaths at Bandstand near Salman’s apartment with the hope of having a glimpse of the actor but in vain.

Luckily, an unknown man took him to Bandra police station. The police said that the boy refused to eat food, insisting that all he wanted was to meet Salman. They added that they have informed his parents in Jabalpur about their son.

Rohit said that he has watched lots of Salman's films and wants to meet him in real life. He added that that the actor has a big heart, who loves the poor. He is willing to go back home once he meets him. However, he lamented that the watchman denied permission to enter Salman's apartment.

Rakhi Ka Insaaf and Akshay Kumar's Master Chef India will be launched on the same day, October 16, on NDTV Imagine and Colors channel, respectively. ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’ will also compete with some other popular reality shows like ‘Bigg Boss 4’ and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 4’. So, in a way, she will be competing with Salman Khan and Big B to fetch more TRPs for her show and channel.

However, Rakhi seems to be very confident about her show. She says that her show is the ‘baap’ of all other reality shows. She is confident that people will love to see her on the show. The 31- year-old item girl will be seen solving domestic issues of the public on the show. Rakhi claims that she will give unbiased justice to people with her heart. She added that people will get to know the real Rakhi through this show.

Rakhi further said that she does not require to pit on a saree to become a good judge. She justified her point saying that she is not doing a ‘saas-bahu’ serial and people can identify her as glamour queen only. She informed that while shooting for the show, she had to face a tough time when, a couple ended in blows. However, Rakhi was saved because of her bodyguards (whom she calls her ‘Karan’ and ‘Arjun’).

Just a day after he and Courteney Cox announced their separation, David Arquette called in to the 'Howard Stern Show' and told all about the death of their sex life and his post-separation tryst with waitress/actress Jasmine Waltz.

David said that Courteney initiated the separation just after their 11th wedding anniversary in June, telling him "I don't want to be your mother anymore." They hadn't had sex for a month at that point, and haven't in the four months since--but Courteney gave David the go-ahead to sleep with others.

"She knows she's not f***ing me, and she's like, 'Listen, I want you to be able to do whatever you have to do,'" he said.

When asked whether he has a girlfriend he's moving in with, David said absolutely not, but he did admit to sex with "the girl in the paper"--Jasmine Waltz.

"I don't have a girlfriend, I had sex with a girl once... maybe twice," he said.

The diminutive star of this 3D movie talks about his hilarious bar fight, the super-slo-mo, guest stars and much more.

Jason Acuna has been putting himself at risk for the entertainment of others far before he took on the name "Wee Man" for the popular but short-lived Jackass TV series, which ran from 2000 to 2002 on MTV. In 2002, Johnny Knoxville, Jason Acuna and the rest of the Jackass crew took their bizarre and hilarious talents to the big screen with Jackass: The Movie, followed by Jackass Number Two in 2006. Now the crew has embraced 3D technology with the audaciously hilarious Jackass 3D, which will be released in theaters on October 15 (keep your eyes peeled on the Reviews section for my review of this fantastic movie).

Over the weekend, I had a chance to sit down with the Wee Man himself, Jason Acuna, to discuss this balls-out (figuratively and, at times, literally) new movie, and here's what he had to say:

One of my favorite parts of the movie is your bar fight scene. Can you talk about where you filmed that? Did you guys use button cams for these kinds of shots?

Jason Acuna: We went to San Pedro. We talked to the owners and we said we didn't want anyone to know, but would it be cool if we filmed in your bar? The owners loved it so we went in the night before and set up surveillance cameras. Then we had one or two dudes with satchel cams and just waited until the bar was filled with daytime drinkers, just went in and went for it. We all got together and rehearsed it the night before, so we knew what we were doing and how it would go down.

It was hilarious. Every time it went to another level, it really killed in the theater.

Jason Acuna: Oh yeah. What was funny was, some of these daytime drinkers were pretty intoxicated. When we went back to get releases signed from them, they were like, 'I can't even believe that happened here. What's going on in this place?' They didn't know it was a movie that just happened in front of them. They thought they were being interviewed for a newscast. 'What just went down at the bar here, in San Pedro?' It was pretty awesome.

How often do you guys get busted in public? Johnny Knoxville's Irving character has been used several times before. Has a fan ever outed you in public?

Jason Acuna: I've never been out and about with Irving, so I haven't seen him get busted. The only time Knox and I got busted was on the last movie, when he tried to ship me, via FedEx. The guy at the FedEx place knew who he was and said, 'All right, Wee Man. Get out of the box.' Other than that, I get recognized every day and people always think I'm filming. They're always like, 'Hey, what's going on? Where's Knoxville? What's going to happen here?' I'm like, 'Well, I'm kind of just hanging out at the beach by myself. Nothing's going down.'

I heard there were some serious injuries this time. What was the most serious one and what was the most serious that you had on Jackass 3D?

Jason Acuna: I'm just kind of beat up more. I didn't break any bones or anything. I'm just beat up from being tossed around and the stuff we did. The ending, where I flip out and go over the camera, that messed me up. I had to do that like 10 times. It just wrecked me.

I also really enjoyed the end credit sequence, where they show all these old pictures of you guys. They have these old videos of Johnny Knoxville in high school doing these kinds of things.

Jason Acuna: Yeah. Even I've been doing it since then. It's funny, my 12th grade final project in my history and economic class was a video, and my buddy and I just pretty much went out and did Jackass stuff. I think we've all been doing this kind of stuff since we were young.

What kinds of things were you doing on that video? Watch Video:

Jason Acuna: In that video, I went around and I stood on the street with a sign that said, 'Will Leave for Five Dollars.' Then I dropped it down to $2.50. I just went skateboarding around town and we'd go, 'Do you have any Coke...-a Cola?' Just trying to get reactions out of people.

I'm actually from Minnesota and I went to high school with Seann William Scott. It was fun to see him in there with (Minnesota Vikings defenseive lineman) Jared Allen for the football bit. Do these guys approach you for guest spots like that or do you approach them?

Jason Acuna: Oh yeah. We throw out a little, "Hey, do you want to be in the movie?' for some of them. Knox was really good with Seann William Scott, because of The Dukes of Hazzard. I think they kept in contact and he said, 'Hey, we're doing the next movie. Do you want to be in it?' It's always fun to have new guys on the set. They get all pumped. 'Yeah! We're on Jackass! This is gonna be fun!'

Do you haze those guys at all?

Jason Acuna: Oh yeah. We haze them.

Will any of that stuff be on Jackass 3.5, perhaps?

Jason Acuna: I think so, yeah.

We ran a story last week about 3.5 and it will probably come out in December. Can you talk any more about what we might see on that?

Jason Acuna: I just know that there is going to be a lot of great footage in it already. We filmed enough for two movies and we used the best in this, but we still have the best of what we cut out because it was too long. That's what we'll put in 3.5, but we're also going to go, in November, and film an intro and outro to it. There's also talk of it maybe 3D on DVD and stuff because of the TV's coming out. I don't know if it will be right away, but it will be put out later because the footage is still filmed in 3D.

That's awesome. The 3D home market isn't huge right now, but it's definitely growing. The studios are starting to release 3D Blu-rays now.

Jason Acuna: Yeah, and the TV's are coming out more and more. It's like cell phones, when they first came out. They were just black and white and now you can take a video and email it to everybody. But yeah, it'll be out soon.

I read that there was a contest for the fans to come up with the craziest prank idea. I heard it just ended recently.

Jason Acuna: I don't know too much about that, because I've been doing all kinds of other things since we finished, but I did catch a glimpse of it. I don't know what went down with that.

(Interviewer's Note: At that point, we're told what the prank will be, and you can see it go down live, tonight, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Here's exactly what we were told:

"It's going to be on the Jimmy Fallon show. They're going to play a human Operation on Ehren McGhehey. Knoxville and Fallon are going to have the Operation board game and they're going to have Ehren up on a big Operation thing and every time they mess up, they're going to zap him."

How awesome is that??? Tune into Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight to see how this stunt will go down. Oh yeah, back to the interview...)

Jason Acuna: He's going to be on Fallon doing that? That's f*&%ing awesome.

I'm definitely checking that out. Are there any other non-Jackass things that you have lined up that you can talk about? Anything in movies or TV?

Jason Acuna: No, nothing in movies or TV. I just opened up a new restaurant, Wee Man's Chronic Tacos. I'm just doing that and skate stuff. I'm actually leaving on the 19th to Europe - Italy, Germany and Kuwait - to bring a 2D version of the movie to the troops out there. Just to make them feel like they're at home, all the way over there.

Are there ideas brewing for a fourth one?

Jason Acuna: We just pretty much finished this one and we're not thinking of much else. After we finished the first one, we thought we were done. In between each one, it's been about four years, so Dave England has been saying, '2014, look out for Jackass 4D. I think we'll all be over 40 by then.

Yeah. I can't imagine you can do these too often because it probably takes quite a toll on you guys.

Jason Acuna: Yeah, it does, but we're all the ones that step up and get excited about it.

After I saw the second one, I didn't think there was any way you could up the ante. Then I saw this one and, wow. For you, what part was the most fun for you to watch out of all of this?

Jason Acuna: For me, it's the intro and the outro. In all the movies, they've always been good. They're choreographed, we spend some time on them and we make them awesome. On the second movie, we all had to learn how to dance. This film, we all had to learn how to be relaxed and take blows. Those are my favorite parts because, the Jackass parts we're always going to be able to film however and whenever.

With all the super-slo-mo stuff, it almost seems like it's (director) Jeff Tremaine's version of 300 or Zombieland.

Jason Acuna: Oh, dude, it's awesome. My whole face gets hits with a fish, and you see my whole face move back.

I also loved Bam Margera's little Rocky bits. Did he ever catch you with that?

Jason Acuna: Yeah, he caught me early in the beginning, but we didn't have the Phantom camera then, so we didn't use it. It will probably be on 3.5 though. They caught me where they said, 'Yeah, come sit on this ball. We want the ball to explode and you look funny falling.' So I just sat there and looked at the camera acting like I was talking, and he came up and f*&^ing got me. He splashed me and then turned, broke the sunglasses off my face. It was a good one, but it wasn't Phantom camera good. That's the reason it didn't get used.

All of the Jackass fans will head out to see this, I'm sure. For those who might be on the fence about Jackass 3D, though, what would you like to say about why they should check the movie out this weekend?

Jason Acuna: I'll tell you this. If you are ready for it, we have made the best Jackass film ever and the best 3D film ever. You can experience both at the same time. People at the water cooler will be talking about it on Monday morning and you want to be the one who knows about it, and not just hear about it.

Well, that's about all I have for you. Thanks so much, Jason. I really loved the movie.

Jason Acuna: Thank you very much for having me.

Make sure to check out Jason Acuna, Johnny Knoxville and the rest of this crazy crew when Jackass 3D hits theaters nationwide on October 15. And also look for my full review in the next few days as well as tonight's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for some Operation... Jackass-style.

Jackass 3D comes to theaters October 15th, 2010 and stars Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Jason Acuña, Ryan Dunn, Preston Lacy, Dave England. The film is directed by Jeff Tremaine.

Must saw this at an advanced screening in Long Beach and I must say the Jackass crew is back. This movie is exactly what I was expecting it to be. My friends and I debated whether or not the guys were too old but apparently they were offered enough money to not care much. This is just like Jackass Number 2 in that they got a big budget to do the set piece stunts. There is still the low key, sneak up on people pranks, but now in glorious slow motion.

The set piece stunts are in bright and crisp 3D that really adds to the effect of whatever they are trying to do. As others have stated the intro is pretty cool but I was actually left wanting just a bit more. Note the paintballs though, in amazing 3D. This is Johnny, Ryan Dunn, Steve-o, Pontius, and Weeman’s show. Dave and Aaron end up getting hurt as usual but are awesome sports.
There are more gross out and insane, painful stunts than pranks on unwitting public people, but a few of the funniest skits fall into the latter category. The midget couple at the bar is the funniest in the movie by far.

These guys are as funny as always and their genuine friendship is really quite nostalgic at the end. Its been nearly 10 years since Jackass went off the air and these guys are really still at the top of their game. The entire theater was crying with laughter the entire film. I was invited to stay after for a post film discussion and one of the other people summed it up nicely by saying he felt that not a single skit was a misfire. Matt Hoffman, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze were in the crowd.
Of the 25 or so people that stayed after the film, 22 thought it was the best of the trilogy.

Cheers, Chants greet Rescued Miners in Chile

Copiapo, Chile (CNN) --
Their return heralded by a siren's blare and the relieved cries of a happy nation, the first of 33 miners began emerging into a cool desert night early Wednesday after being trapped underground for 69 harrowing days.

Florencio Avalos was the first to make the bumpy 16-minute ride to the surface as eager family members and anxious strangers watched from around the world the developments at the San Jose mine. He emerged wearing green coveralls, blinking in the bright lights and to the cheers and applause of the rescue team.

Avalos beamed as he walked on the earth's surface for the first time in more than two months. He hugged his family and then Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.

"We had promised to look until we found them," Pinera said. "We can all feel proud to be Chilean."
rescuers and relatives at the surface. His brother, Renan Silva, is also trapped in the mine.

"I'm overwhelmed with emotion because it's been so long since we have seen him," Alfonso Avalos, Florencio's father, told Chile's TVN. "I'm very proud of him. Thanks to God he got out and looks good." H

As the second miner, Mario Sepulveda, exited the rescue hole, he reached into a large yellow bag and handed out what appeared to be rocks to officials and rescue workers.

Sepulveda cracked jokes and led the crowd in a cheer for Chile. As the 40-year-old was hauled away on a stretcher for medical evaluation, he asked his wife, "How's the dog?"

Each round trip took about 50 minutes.

Jeff Hart, one of the lead drillers who assisted with the rescue efforts, said he was thrilled to watch the first miner surface.

"It's extremely exciting for us. ... It's a very emotional moment for us," Hart said. "We worked real long and hard on that, and to actually see the capsule come through the first time through the hole that we drilled was just unbelievable."

A joyous celebration burst out in the capital, Santiago, as hundreds watched on a big screen TV set up in a square.

From Washington came well wishes from the White House.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the brave miners, their families, and the men and women who have been working so hard to rescue them," said U.S. President Barack Obama. "While that rescue is far from over and difficult work remains, we pray that by God's grace, the miners will be able to emerge safely and return to their families soon."

In the hours before the highly anticipated rescue, the sounds of drilling, beeping, rumbling and hammering filled the air at the mine site.

Chile is a country that reacts well to adversity, Pinera said earlier, though he added that the miners will not be the same once they come out of the mine, and Chile, too, is changed.

As the rescue operation continues, the trapped miners will all put on green coveralls made of moisture-resisting material and personalized with names like Raul Bustos. Juan Illanes. Alex Vega.

The oldest is 63. The youngest, only 18.

The miners will also have on fresh underwear and socks when they climb into a claustrophobic capsule only a little wider than the span of their shoulders.

They will be instructed on the communications equipment and the oxygen supply inside the rescue tube. And they will put on special goggles to protect their eyes -- which have become accustomed to the vampiric darkness of the caved-in mine -- from the lights up above.

Then the order to hoist will ring out and each man will begin a slow, bumpy, upward journey through half a mile of rock.

The miners have been placed on liquid diets in case they vomit on the way to the surface and they have been exercising for an hour a day.

Yonni Barrios, is a paramedic and has been weighing his fellow miners daily, taking blood tests and doing daily urine analyses. The others call him "Dr. House" after the television show, which is popular in Chile.

The rescue is likely to go from night into day. Some of the men will feel the intense chill of a desert night; others may come out to a searing sun burning high in a cloudless sky.

The rescue capsule will spin as it rises. It will be harrowing. And dark. Like a scary amusement park ride.

"As he comes out he will be reborn," said Nelly Bugueno about her son Victor Zamora, 33, a carrier pigeon handler and a poet.

Nelly Bugueno has been camping out with the other families above the caved-in mine in this spartan area void of hotels, gas stations or any other amenities. They named the place Camp Esperanza (Hope).

Tuesday, that hope was apparent as the families sang songs and could not contain the joy of long-awaited reunions. Thirty-three flags hung from a red school house -- 32 Chilean and a single Bolivian -- representing the nationalities of the men buried underneath.

Bolivian President Evo Morales is expected at the mine site Wednesday to show his support.

"God is in all places, At the same time your family loves you," read a sign for Mario Gomez, the oldest of the miners.

Gomez began mining at the tender age of 12. He became a spiritual leader for the trapped men and requested a crucifix and statuettes of saints so the men could construct a shrine inside the mine.

The first to come out will be five miners who have been deemed fit and who possess the most technical know-how so that they can advise the rescue teams.

The next five will be the physically weakest, a term perhaps not appropriate for anyone who has survived more than two months in the bowels of the earth. But one of the miners has diabetes; another has black lung.

The last to come out will be Luis Alberto Iribarren, 54. Like the captain of a sinking ship, the shift supervisor volunteered to stay behind until all his men were safe.

As the men are extracted, they will undergo about two hours of health checks at a field hospital set up at the mine. They will then be flown by helicopter to a hospital in the town of Copiapo -- approximately a 15-minute flight.

Miners who are healthy enough will be allowed to visit briefly with family members in a reunion area before being taken to the hospital. Some have exhibited anxiety, according to Manalich, the health minister. They may experience psychological problems.

For the 33 men, the only contact with the outside world since the beginning of August was through a small bore hole through which they were sent food, water and other supplies. A letter sent by one of them said they would take a vow of silence, to never to fully reveal the details of their underground misery.

Edison Pena, 34, sent back a request for Elvis Presley music and led the group in sing-alongs.

Victor Segovia, 48, kept a journal throughout the ordeal and sent his updates to help keep the rescuers on the surface informed about the miners' well-being. He's an acoustics expert.

Jimmy Sanchez, 18, the youngest miner who worked as an environmental assistant, sent a letter to his mother. He just wanted to taste her cooking again.

Ariel Ticona, 29, watched his wife give birth to a baby girl via a video link that was lowered into the mine. Of his three children, this was the first birth he was able to witness. They called their new daughter Esperanza.

High above the miners, the buzz of electrical generators brought in by hordes of media began to drown out other sounds Tuesday. About 1,500 journalists from 39 nations gathered to tell a story of survival and family members held their breath.

And as the miners began to surface Wednesday -- safe and sound -- a nation exhaled.
