72 Tenants Of Prosperity
Synopsis:

Past and present survival of the common man in the big city – ups and downs, laughters and tears...
In 1970s Hong Kong, rapacious landlords try to evict 72 tenants but sworn brothers Ha Kung (Eric Tsang) and Shek Kin (Jacky Cheung) help the group of 72 defeat the landlord (Lam Ka Tung) and landlady (Charmaine Sheh) and coincidentally rescue Pinky (Anita Yuen) from a planned forced marriage. When both sworn brothers fall for Pinky and propose to her, she flips a coin and Ha wins her hand in marriage.
The sworn brothers become sworn enemies and Shek’s hatred fuels intense rivalry against Ha in business dealings.
Even after 40 years they continue to clash in Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mongkok, but when the street is hit by acid-attacks and rents raised to triple the cost, the 72 tenants unite and pledge to safeguard their home.
Against a background of fear and turmoil, with the old love triangle between Ha and Pinky and Shek still festering, the next generation of the Ha and Shek families embarks on their own heroic love affairs. Runtime: 85 min.

Language: Japanese
Country: Japan
Genre:Horror Thriller

Japanese movie Plot summary:

The plot itself is sketchy, though engaging enough, and Ten manages to attain a vaguely epic feel thanks to various flashbacks tracing through the centuries. The characters are similarly offbeat, and the film has a number of odd touches, such as the fact that as well as vampire and ex-swordsman, Ukyo also appears to be a criminal mastermind with a network of corruption – though to what end it is never explained or explored.

Although Hoshino is merely a perfunctory protagonist, Miyako makes for an excellent and ambiguous femme fatale figure, keeping the male cast members firmly under her control whilst seeming decidedly detached from their angst ridden struggles. Strangely, the vampire theme is really neither here nor there, as aside from the blood lapping, it really only serves to allow Ukyo to wax lyrical on his possibly tragic lot, frequently lapsing into diatribes revolving around his roaming in eternal darkness and being condemned to endless despair, and other general anecdotes about solitude, the folly of love, and the futility of eternity. All of this is inadvertently very amusing, in a kind of mock emo fashion, and the film is all the more entertaining for at times having the feel of a rather hysterical supernatural soap opera.

Japanese Movie Reviews:

Most empathetically not to be confused with the similarly titled and themed Hollywood anime rehash “Blood – the Last Vampire” is “Blood”, an erotic vampire outing from “Shinobi” director Shimoyama Ten. The film stars actress Sugimoto Aya of “Flower and Snake” fame in the lead as a seductive vampiress, which should give fans a pretty good idea of what to expect. With support from Tsuda Kanji (“Ju-on: The Grudge”) and Kaname Jun (“Casshern”) as the two males vying for her affections, the film effectively mixes sex, intrigue and plenty of neck biting in a way which recalls the gloriously baroque and erotically charged European vampire films of the 1970s more than modern Asian horror, a fact which should make it an interesting proposition indeed for fans of the form.

The film begins with Detective Hoshino (Tsuda Kanji), who specialises in long open unsolved cases, travelling to the mansion of the reclusive Miyako (Sugimoto Aya) to investigate the murder of a maid at a house she previously owned some years back. Surprisingly, the sexy siren not only flutters her eyelashes at the understandably smitten man, but also informs him that she knows the identity of the murder, a man called Ukyo (Kaname Jun). Hoshino tracks him down, and upon finding him is shocked to catch him in the act of biting a chained up girl on the neck. When Ukyo discovers that Miyako had set the detective on his trail, he reveals that he himself is a vampire, having been a swordsman bitten by her back in the Edo period, setting in motion a battle between the two to take prime position in her heart and bed.
“Blood” is in many ways quite an odd mixture of different cinematic elements. Visually, the film combines modern minimalist bondage décor with 1980s style blue lighting and fog, and even a touch of gothic atmospherics. Many of the sets are cold and sparse, and this does give the proceedings an almost theatrical air at times, which serves well to underpin both its dramatic and more visceral aspects. Ten directs with a reasonable amount of flair, and though he does go a little heavy on the slow motion at times, the film is creative and does generally look quite striking, often in a charmingly old fashioned manner.
All of the above aside, the film’s main attraction is of course its carnal content, and on that level it scores highly, with the gorgeous Sugimoto Aya spending a great deal of the running time unclothed. Most of the sex scenes are shot with a genuine aim at eroticism rather than cheap titillation, and though they dominate the film, they generally avoid feeling gratuitous or tacky. Things do get quite kinky in places, though the film is one of the few from Asia to successfully strike a balance of sorts between sex and horror. There is a fair amount of blood and violence, though apart from a few fairly mild bondage scenes the film rarely strays into sadism or real nastiness.
As a result, “Blood” is far more accessible to the average viewer than it might otherwise have been, and works more as a horror film with erotic elements, than as a piece of cinematic sleaze. Enjoyably overwrought and imaginatively directed, as well as a must see for fans of the statuesque Sugimoto Aya, it offers something a little different to the usual Japanese genre outings.

Dahmer vs. Gacy Hollywood Flim Review:

cloned by the government.
DirObviously playing for laughs, the showdown you probably never expected to see has arrived. Below you'll find the AFM trailer for Ford Austin's Dahmer Vs Gacy, in which 30 of the world's most notorious serial killers are ector Austin plays Dahmer, while Gacy is played by Randal Malone. The indie flick also features appearances by genre alumni Irwin Keyes, Felissa Rose, Brooke Lewis Alana Curry, Lee Perkins, as well as... former Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler?
Ex – Guns N’ Roses drummer, Steven Adler, has been enlisted to be the fall guy (serial killer victim this time) in a movie about Jeffrey Dahmer, the serial killing cannibal (Movie title: “Dahmer vs. Gacy”). Adler will play a guy who gets cruised by (an irresisitable?) Dahmer and later get a drill to the head (movie still above — obviously).

It would have been an excellent creative choice if they had Axl Rose portraying Dahmer. The film is said to be an action/comedy/horror, but so was the story of GNR.
Just a thought.
Godzilla fought King Kong. Alien battled Predator. Freddy faced off with Jason. Mega Shark duked it out with Giant Octopus. Now we're about to get Dahmer Vs. Gacy. No, it isn't the ultimate Ulli Lommel crossover movie. It's a horror comedy that pits two of the most notorious serial killers of all time against each other and unscrupulous rogue military scientists. Set your taste buds to tasteless.
A secret government program is cloning infamous serial killers and genetically splicing their DNA into a super serial killer for undisclosed purposes. Ultra low budget indie genre movie mainstays Ford Austin and Randal Malone star as the resurrected Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy, respectively. Dahmer Vs. Gacy, also directed by Ford Austin, is slated to be the first of five underground Grindhouse-style films produced by Angry Baby Monkey Pictures. The film is currently in post-production and gearing up for select independent film festivals.
The jam-packed cast also includes Ethan Philips (Neelix of "Star Trek: Voyager") as someone or something known only as "X-13", veteran character actors Art LaFleur and Irwin Keyes as mad scientists, Jerry Maren (one of the little people from The Wizard of Oz), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), indie staple Lee Perkins, Guns 'N Roses guitarist and rehab enthusiast Steven Adler, scream queen Elissa Dowling, Playboy Playmate Katie Lohmann, and comedian Harland Williams as God.

Personally, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. It could be wacky fun, but there's a part of me that finds it a little hard to laugh at fictitious gore-splattered slapstick portrayed by two real-life serial killers responsible for raping and savagely torturing and killing innocent people. We're not exactly talking the same thing as Billy the Kid Vs. Dracula here. I'll reserve judgment until I see a trailer.

Dahmer vs. Gacy Hollywood Movie PReview:

1) So,Marc,You were like a ‘Child Star’ in the ’70’s ?
I wouldn’t say child star. My parents exposed me to anything and everything as a baby and a toddler. I took to the camera and loved the attention and they kept taking me to auditions.
2) You had continuing roles on major shows,Any behind the scenes we should know ? Nothing that I can comment on.
2a) The LAND OF THE LOST experience,Notes on “New” Movie ? I was thrilled with how so closely the new film stayed to the true character of the Sleestak.
2b) BEVERLY HILLS 90210,Remake opinion ? That’s a part of my past that will never happen again.
2c) 21 JUMPSTREET,Johnny Depp insights ? Other then James Dean, there is no other actor alive that I appreciate and respect more the Johnny Depp. Even when he was “the face that launched a network” he was always rebelling against the commercial aspect of this business. He had to constantly fight to keep his charcter from being more then just the pretty boy. It’s been a pleasure watching his career and his choices. He is our generations Brando & Dean.
3) Now you’re in the MOVIES…Ever wanna write or direct ? Actually, I have done both. I wrote and co-directed the feature films COMMUTE and TERMINAL (produced them as well, www.thecommuteison.com and www.terminal2006,com )
I also had my hand in co-writing Falling Down with Ford Austin. I love writing. I love taking my own experiences and then taking that creative liberty and license and let my imagination run wild. I like to be involved in every aspect of filmmaking.
4) BEST of “The WASS” On/Off Set ? On set THE WASS is always prepared, respectful and ready to have a good time. The Wass likes his cast and crew to be comfortable and enjoy the work that’s getting done. The Wass is very easy to work with and takes direction well. Off set: The Wass is the best friend you could ever ask for. In a pinch he is there. He is a loving and doting husband and father, and no matter what’s going on that day, he brings his lovely, pregnant wife baskin robbins every night.
5) WORST of ” The WASS” On/Off set ? On set: if you are not prepared and cause delays, The Wass will replace you in a heartbeat. (Fortuantely this only happened one time) Other then that, The Wass is so grateful and happy whenever he is able to be on set, its very hard to bring out the worst. Off Set: The Wass has very little patience and sometimes likes to indulge in fine Vodka.
6) This is what we said about you in GRAPPLING WITH DEMONS:”
Some good acting especially from Marc, One hopes he is not like this out of character. The ladies had a tough job and The wife got out just in time, Hookers not so much.”
Looking back and maybe commenting on ‘new’ FALLING DOWN,Did you get HURT on set or have any bad reactions after filming ? Thank you, first of all, for the great review. Preparing for Falling Down which takes the Grappling Character and gives him a soul, was an amazing journey. I did suffer a few injuries while filming the fight and rape scenes, but it’s well worht it. I’m glad I did all of my own stunts. The only bad reaction I had was my wife and son having to live with this character while I prepared. I spent nearly one year gaining weight, growing hair and exploring the darkest depths of a mans soul. Some days I would wake up, look in the mirror and not recognize myself.
7) DAHMER Vs. GACY,What ‘If’ This becomes your biggest credit ever ? I would not be surprised. The chance to work with Ford Austin again wa a pure blessing. This film is going to blow people away!
8) One Sentence Descriptions- TOM SIZEMORE , a generous and kind soul who will return to win an Academy Award/FORD AUSTIN ,A genius filmmaker who can make magic with a camera./RANDAL MALONE, When it comes to blood, guts and horror, Malone is THE MAN!!!!!/JED ROWEN, The complete professional, comes in, all business, gets the job done right then loves to party/ATHENA DEMOS,An amazing actress not afraid to take risks.
9) You make the cover of alot of DVDs, Good or Bad ? I say good. I’d like people to recoginze my work. My characters are different and my look continually changes.
10) Final shot…Last Words,Etc.. ??? I grew up wanting to make films and knowing the odds. I feel extremely lucky to be able to make films. While I wish, someday, I will be doing it full time and I can stop practicing law, I realize how fortunate I am to be living out my dream.

HK Chinese Movie Plot:

A kung fu thriller set during the Ming Dynasty and centered on a secret service agent (Donnie Yen) in the emperor's court who is betrayed and then hunted by his colleagues.

HK Chinese Movie Reviews:

Yen has Vicki Zhao as his co-lead and the rest of the supporting casts – Sammo Hung, Damian Lau, Wu Chun, Chen Zhi Hui, Yuwu Qi, Kuan Tai Chen, Kar-Ying Law, Ma Wu, Kate Tsui and Xiang Dong Xu. They all worked with Hongkong directorDaniel Lee for this film.

“14 Blades” with a Chinese title “Gam Yee Wai” will be shown in Singapore on January 28, 2010 and in Hongkong by February 2010.
14 BLADES puts Yen into the role of Green Dragon, a Ming Dynasty-era Imperial guard, the best of a specially trained force of sword-slinging agents who take orders directly fromthe Emperor . When an evil Eunuch takes over the Imperial court, Yen’s associates turn against him while they’re on a secret mission. Green Dragon becomes public enemy number one and must battle his former comrades while rallying those still loyal tothe Emperor.
The organization was set up in the late 14th century by Ming dynasty founder Zhu Yuanzhang (Emperor Hongwu), first as his own personal guards numbering in the hundreds, and later gaining many more other responsibilities (including intelligence, of course), reaching their apex in the 16th century with a total force around the low six

“14 Blades” refer to the swords of which 8 is for torture, 5 is for killing and the last one reserved for suicide should a mission fail.Donnie Yen plays as the Green Dragon, the best among the Imperial Guards, who is assigned to steal a list of names to identify those still loyal to the Emperor. Not knowing that his fellow Imperial Guards bowed to the commands of Jia, a power-hungry eunuch who wants to take control of the Empire’s government from the weakened Emperor, he was betrayed and hardly escaped alive. He remained loyal tothe Emperor and become a fugitive who needs to fight with his former comrades, the deadliest assassins in the land, in order to protect the empire.
The film is centered on the weapon itself and their uses, love triangle and romance were just on the side since the story speaks more about chivalry, loyalty and brotherhood. The film will also highlight an astounding mix of martial arts, impressive espionage and royal scenes.
