This all changed when his wife was murdered by the triads. However, after the murder of his wife by triads, he lost the motivation to live and sunk into depression. His relationship with his daughter also deteriorated. At this time, he was given the task of investigating the murder and kidnappings of high level triad leaders. During the investigation, he found out that the person behind the crimes was a former police officer (Michael Miu) and his men who were former SDU members. Being knowledgeable about the procedures that the police undertook during operations, they were always one step ahead of the authorities. The ex-police officer, however, finds out that Cheung Bo-Man is hot on his trail and soon an action-packed climactic encounter will ensue.

Black Ransom Flim
Reviews :

Every so often I feel the need to selfishly indulge in a little Hong Kong action involving cops, heavily-armed gunmen, and a metric ton of snazzy explosions. And while Keung Kwok Man’s “Black Ransom” looks exactly like every other police-oriented shoot-em-up that comes screaming out of China every year
I’m still somewhat intrigued by the trailer embedded below. Maybe it’s the collage of snipers, men with cell phones looking into the air, and intense Mexican stand-offs — whatever the case may be, I’m totally jazzed about the movie. On top of everything else, the flick stars Simon Yam. Even if it sucks to the highest of heavens, it’s still got Simon Yam in its proverbial corner.
He is sent to investigate a series of kidnappings and murders of triad leaders by the newly posted Chief Superintendent of Police, Ku Kwok Kiong. The perpetrators of the crimes were higher organized, professional, cruel and violent. After investigation, he found that the leader of the perpetrators was an ex-police officer (Michael Miu) and all his underlings were ex-SDU members. Therefore, they were familiar with police procedures and techniques which enabled them to predict the police’s moves. He soon found that Cheung Bo-Man is after his trails and a life-death battle of courage and wits unfolds.
The film is currently scheduled for release in Hong Kong this January. Enjoy the clip below.

Haunted Universities Movie Synopsis

Based on various horror and ghost tales set in universities, the film centers around some students who encounter paranormal events in their university. They must fight against their fears and scary things that are haunting their university.
Thailand has an abundance of urban legends and horror stories about its universities. The movie tells of one main character that leads the audience into four different urban legends. The urban legends are experienced by different students, which are related to their fields of study. Watch how urban legends such as The Red Elevator, Vanishing Corpse, and murdered girl crawling to life to deliver food to a friend, among others, come to life in this horror movie.

Haunted Universities Reviews:

Ahh... remember the good ol' days in uni where we would spook each other with ghost stories or urban legends involving the campus grounds? "Haunted Universities" explores some of the most famous university urban legends and brings it to the silver screen for the audience to relive the spine-chilling moments we feel when we were left alone late at night in our dorm rooms. Combining four different tales that have been passed around students, "Haunted Universities" follows Muay (played by the gorgeous Parnward "Peoy" Hemmanee, "Bangkok Dangerous") as she takes an internship with an emergency service organisation. In the first few days of her internship, she gets herself involved (voluntary or otherwise) with some terrifying incidents surrounding universities.
Although the film aims to bring out the best in urban legends, this writer feels the directors (Banjong Sintanamongkolkul and Sutthiporn Tubtim, of "Colic" fame) tried just a little bit too hard in emulating the many styles of some of the best Asian and Western horror films to date. One can't help but to recognise scenes similar to "Ju-On", "The Ring" or even "The Sixth Sense". The storylines within each story also were a bit too choppy, going back and forth with flashbacks. One can barely pause to breathe before being bombarded with another flashing scene. Definitely not for someone who has photosensitive epilepsy!
Still, the film does have its moments - mostly with laugh-out-loud scenarios. One that comes to mind would be where a medical student 'bravely' takes on a shift at a hospital without realising what he has gotten himself into. When he finally sees the department he is supposed to be at, the expression on his face was priceless! Here, we also get to experience the annoying antics of the 'best friend' trying his utmost best to freak you out but at the same time being super funny. A definite good distraction from the bad makeup and cheap scares.
Leading lady Peoy was wonderful as Muay, bringing a lot of emotion that the audience could empathise with throughout the movie. However, the stars of the film were definitely the supporting characters, particularly Pongsit Pisittakarn and Prinya Ngamwongwan, who play Prasert and Joke respectively. The dynamics between the two were spectacular to watch.
All in all, "Haunted Universities" falls short in being an all-out Thai horror film. Whether it's intended or not, the movie veers more toward the 'hor-medy' genre (a la "Where Got Ghost?" by Jack Neo). So, if you like your horror films interspersed with a bit of humor, give "Haunted Universities" a go. Expect lots of typical 'in-your-face' ghostly shocks as well as rib-tickling moments in the midst of it all.

KICK ASS Hollywood Movie Plot Summary :

Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father. His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

KICK ASS Hollywood Movie Reviews:

Pretty cool right? Thank you to HitFix, who also have a packed article discussing the poster and are one of the only sites who already have a genuine review of the film before it’s nationwide release.
A twisted, funny, high-octane adventure, director Matthew Vaughn brings ‘Kick-Ass’ to the big screen.
‘Kick-Ass’ tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero.
As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes — including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) — and forges a friendship with another fledgling superhero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.
It’s been a busy few days here at MTV News, as we’re presenting our “10 to Watch in 2010” selections all week long, and recently published an exclusive interview with one of my favorites: Chloe Moretz, a 12-year-old actress who seems like she’s going on 35.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Moretz plays “Hit-Girl” in April’s big-screen version of John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar’s “Kick-Ass.” And if advance audiences are to be believed, her ass-kicking character is four months away from becoming a household name.
“I’ve been trained since I was a baby to be this crazy assassin girl,” Moretz told us of Hit-Girl, who she hopes to reprise in sequels. “What I like about the character is that she’s an assassin, but at the same time she is still just an 11-year-old girl. She doesn’t know any better; it’s just how she was raised.”
In the interview, Moretz told us about a scene where she kills several dozen villains. As she also explained, her training for such scenes was tough but fun.
“It was absolutely amazing, and probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she explained. “It was four months-plus training. Learning how to roll, how to jump over barriers and land on your shoulder. I actually came home one day, and I had a big bruise all the way down my back!”
In real life, Moretz has a bed time of 9:30 and was recently grounded because she stayed on the family computer past the allotted time. At work, however, she learns how to assemble heavy weaponry.
“It was really fun to do. I learned how to take apart a gun, put it back together, clean it,” grinned the perky tween. “But they’d never let me touch a gun [unless] I checked it first, made sure it was a fake bullet; if it was supposedly clear, I had to check it to [confirm] that it was clear.”

“While I was shooting the movie, even though I thought I knew [all the moves], it was still really hard to do,” she said of the film’s intricately-constructed fight scenes, overseen by director Matthew Vaughn. “Because you had to think about acting, and choreography of the scene. So, I’m going to have to be running and jumping and shooting in mid-air, while also thinking about my face and not [counting down the steps] like ‘1…2…3..oh no, I just said it!’ Trying to remember the steps: left foot, then right foot, then jump. That was really confusing.”
The greatest part about the gig, however, may have been taking her father — a huge comic book fan — to set everyday. Although as Chloe remembers it, it may have been a mistake to let him get near her on-screen Dad, Nicolas Cage.
“I actually have a really, really hilarious story. My Dad is an Eagle Scout, and he carries a little pocket knife on him all the time,” explained Moretz. “Nic, he likes Red Bull, and he was drinking a Red Bull one day but couldn’t open it. He tried to pop the can, but the little tab fell off.”
“So, my Dad says ‘I can open that for you!’ yanks out his Leatherman and flips it open. He says ‘Here give me the can!’ and [sticks his knife in the top],” she laughed. “Pop! It spews everywhere! It exploded — it was so funny. But Nic is such a nice guy, he took the can and drank it anyway.”
“I was like ‘Wow, Dad!” she remembered of the time her Dad almost made Nic Cage mad at her. “I just want to crawl under a rock and hide right now!’”
"Kick-Ass" is scheduled for a April 2010 premiere.

It's a Wonderful Afterlife
Synopsis:

Bend It Like Beckham's Gurinder Chadha steps into horror comedy territory with this caper detailing the
murderous lengths a mother goes to while trying to find her daughter a husband. A comedy centered on an Indian mother who takes her obsession with marriage into the world of serial murder.

It's a Wonderful Afterlife Reviews:

Britain-based Indian filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, whose latest movie It's A Wonderful Afterlife has been selected as the opening film at the Sundance Film Festival starting Jan 21, says that it her "best work" so far.

"I think It's A Wonderful Afterlife is my best work to date," Chadha told IANS.
"My film What's Cooking? had been premiered at Sundance in 2000. So in a way it's a homecoming, and that too with a film that in many ways takes me back to my warm intimate family values of 'Bend It Like Beckham'. I shot in the same Indian-centric localities of London," she added.
Chadha is set for the release of It's A Wonderful Afterlife, which she says comes close to Bend It Like Beckham in terms of mood, temperament and characterisation.
The film, which is a backhanded compliment to the timeless American director Frank Capra, will have a dubbed Hindi version, despite the fact that her Bride & Prejudice was ruined in translation.
"This time I think a Hindi version of 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife' is required. The film is about ghosts and reincarnation. These themes are hot favourites among Indians. We're looking for a good title for the Hindi version. Audiences in Hindi may not get the Capra reference in the English title," she said.

Chadha had a whale of a time shooting with Shabana Azmi for It's A Wonderful Afterlife.
"She put on so much weight she was unrecognizable on the streets of London. Often ladies would come up to her and ask, 'But aren't you Shabana Azmi?' I took her to a Punjabi baby shower to meet all these women, so she'd get a hang of her Punjabi-Londoner character. Shabana is dead-on in the film," she said.
To add to the complexities Shabana had to talk to ghosts in the film.
"No one can see these ghosts, not even Shabana. But she had to pretend that she could. Sometimes in the middle of a shot, I'd walk up to her and ask, 'What are you doing?' And she'd delight me by retorting, 'I really don't know'. Shooting this film was great fun." Now Chadha hopes watching the film would be as entertaining.
Gurindher Chadha has a lot to be proud of. She claims Shimit Amin's deeply influential Chak De was "a cleverly disguised variation on my Bend It Like Beckham. In my film, the girl wanted to play football. In Chak De they wanted to play hockey."
Her latest film It's A Wonderful Afterlife which is a backhanded compliment to the timeless American director Frank Capra, has been selected as the opening film at the exclusive Sundance Film Festival on January 21.
Recalls Gurindher, "My film What's Cooking had been premiered at Sundance in 2000. So in a way it's a home-coming, and that too with a film that in many ways takes me back to my warm intimate family values of Bend It Like Beckham. I shot in the same Indian-centric localities of London."
The robust Punjabi director whose last film Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging was in the news for its sexual content, says Bend It Like Beckham remains her most beloved film. "Before Bend It, the footballer David Beckham was not quite the mega-star he is now. You'll be surprised to know how many people would ask who the Beckham in the title was. I think Beckham became a big star afterwards. If I were to make Bend It Like Beckham today it'd be impossible. David Beckham has become too big for his name to be used for a film."
Gurindher is now all set for the release of It's A Wonderful Afterlife which she says comes close to Beckham in terms of mood temperament and characterization. The film will have a dubbed Hindi version, despite the fact that Gurindher's Bride & Prejudice was ruined in translation.

Hollywood Movie Plot Summary:

Based on the first of a series of best selling novels, PERCY JACKSON & THE LIGHTNING THIEF is set in a modern world where the twelve gods of Mount Olympus (perched 600 stories above the planet on New York's landmark Empire State Building) are alive and are creating a new race of young mythological heroes who are demigods -- half mortal, half god. Percy, the teenage son of Poseidon, is suspected by Zeus of stealing his lightning bolt, the universe's most powerful weapon. To prove his innocence and avoid a devastating war among the gods, Percy embarks on a transcontinental odyssey to find the real thief. Along his journey, he confronts fierce enemies determined to stop him, and attempts to save his mother from the deadly clutches of another Greek god, Hades.
It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves. Written by 20th Century Fox

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief Reviews:

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has gone poster crazy! Last week we had 6 characters posters and today, 3 more posters have been released and they look too good not to post! I found them over at Latino Review but I’ve embedded them below (click to enlarge). We’ll hopefully be attending some interview sessions and the press conference in the next couple of weeks so hopefully lots more Percy Goodness to come. The movie stars Joe Pantoliano, Kevin McKidd, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan and is directed by Chris Columbus.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is out 12th February.
In the trailer for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, we get a surprising fresh vision of Medusa. In Greek mythology, she is simply a monster with a head full of snakes who turns all who look at her into stone. But in Percy Jackson's world, she promises to be something more — simultaneously the beauty and the beast — as she entices the young hero to "sneak a peek."
It was in part the possibility for re-envisioning this iconic horror that drew director Chris Columbus to the Percy Jackson project in the first place, as he explains in an interview with the Hero Complex blog:
Yesterday I posted a new TV spot for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and it looks like the promotion train continues today with six brand new character art posters supplied to us by Columbia Pictures via Empire and they look fantastic.
Empire make a point that the posters don’t actually reflect who each person is in the movie. E.g. Percy Jackson himself is named, ‘Son of Poseidon’ and Pierce Brosnan who plays Chiron, as ‘Guide Warrior’. When I was looking through these, I too thought it was odd that they hadn’t used the characters names as the logo for the movie is quite small in the bottom right hand corner for each image. But with the cast including Joe Pantoliano, Kevin McKidd, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean (a former bond villain) and a former Bond (!), maybe they think they don’t need to get the name of the movie out there as much? All that coupled with the fact that it’s directed by Chris Columbus, surely it’s going to be good and word of mouth will do the marketing for them? I guess time will tell.

True Legend Chinese Movie Synopsis:

So Chan
(Vincent Chiu) was a wealthy man obsessed with kung-fu who fell from grace after he and his family became the victims of conspiracies. Eventually, he rises from his compromised state as a beggar and transforms himself into a martial arts master, patriot and folk hero, honoured as the "King of Beggars".
A new trailer chock full of fights (but short on plot and dialogue, which is not necessarily a bad thing) and two short but very cool TV spots for action master Yuen Woo-ping’s return to directing in the martial arts/fantasy movie “True Legend” have shown up online. If you absolutely need a plot for this thing, you can find that below. It also looks like the film has been pushed back to 2010.

True Legend Chinese Movie Reviews:

From China comes True Legend

(aka Su Qi-Er), the latest martial arts epic from Yuen Woo-Ping, the fight choreographer on all three Matrix movies and Kill Bill. The film stars Michelle Yeoh (who you'll recognize from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Man Cheuk Chiu as the lead. IMDb lists David Carradine as part of the cast as well as Jay Chou, who is playing Kato in The Green Hornet, as the "God of Martial Arts." It's a tale, kind of like Gladiator, about a wealthy man who loses everything and becomes a true legend, a "King of Beggars." The fights in this look awesome and it reminds me a lot of Jet Li's Fearless. Check it out!
Su Qi-Er (Man Cheuk Chiu) is a wealthy man living during the Qing Dynasty who loses his fortune and reputation as a result of a conspiracy against him. After being forced out onto the streets, Su dedicates his life to martial arts and reemerges as a patriotic hero known as the "King of Beggars." Sounds pretty good?
True Legend is directed by Chinese filmmaker and legendary martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping, who has directed numerous films including Iron Monkey, Fist of the Red Dragon, and The Red Wolf. The screenplay was written by To Chi-Long, of Blood Brothers, Jet Li's Fearless, and Murderer previously. This does not have a US release date yet, although it was produced by Focus Features, so stay tuned for updates! Watch the first trailer for Yuen Woo-Ping's True Legend:

Frozen Hollywood movie Synopsis:

Three skiers are stranded on a chairlift and forced to make life-or-death choices that prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death

Director Adam Green (Hatchet, Spiral) takes the helm for this relentlessly tense tale of three snowboarders who must fight for their lives in the freezing cold after getting stranded on a ski lift. As the trio rides up the mountain in preparation for their final run of the day, the night lights suddenly go dark, and the lift chairs grind to a sudden halt. Realizing that the resort will be closed until the following weekend, the three friends decide to take their fate into their own hands, and find their way down to terra firma. Once they do, they realize that hypothermia isn't the only thing they have to fear. Shawn Ashmore, Kevin Zegers, and Emma Bell Star.

The story of Frozen Hollywood Film:

Adam Green’s upcoming snow-covered thriller
“Frozen” seems like a risky venture. Take a group of friends (portrayed by several relatively unknown actors), stick them on a malfunctioning chairlift with little hope of survival, and watch as they attempt to overcome their precarious situation. As others have pointed out, “Open Water” seemed to operate on the same premise, and its reception was a mixed bag. Watching a small selection of people in a single setting for roughly 90-minutes is a gamble; if you force the audience to spend their free time with characters who do nothing more than work their proverbial last nerve, then you’re going to have trouble. Adam Green is a solid director, so it will be interesting to see how well he executes this dodgy idea.
Thanks to the folks at Cinema Blend, you can judge for yourself if Green is on the right track. The clips embedded below are certainly amusing, though I’m not entirely sold on the project just yet. Are more marketing tools required to alter my opinion. We shall see.
Judging by the sellouts at Sundance, I'd say that anticipation is pretty high for Adam Green's (Hatchet) latest flick, Frozen.
