Movie Review:
Director Justin Lin is back with the movie Fast Five, which is the fifth entry in the series of The Fast and the Furious. His latest venture is an exceptional sequel, which is even better than the original film. The action scenes look highly unimaginable and far from reality, but they are really fun to watch.

The plot of Fast Five is a fantasy and does not resemble real life. It is a film about crass materialism, masculine sentimentality and extreme violence and these aspects have been exaggerated to the point of caricature. Relentless car chases, great setting and action sequences are the major attractions of the movie. In a way, Chris Morgan's goofy script and ridiculous action are disappointing aspects.

But these two aspects do not deter the viewers from enjoying the movie because it has no pretensions other than to be a perfect car-chase film. It is all about two guys who steal expensive cars for a living and are forced to do this in Brazil because of America's draconian anti-stealing policies.

Notorious street racer Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) are wanted by the FBI for all the mayhem they perpetrated in the previous installments. They flee the US for Rio de Janeiro, where they decide to steal one last car to line their bank accounts. The easy money score goes badly and along with the FBI, a Brazilian kingpin (Joaquim de Almeida) also starts chasing the antiheroes. But Dom, Brian and Mia assemble a crack team of old colleagues to beat the kingpin at his own game by stealing all his money.

The characters in this franchise are larger than life. Justin Lin has retained most of the lead heroes of previous film and this helps him to go right into the meat of the story instead getting in to the introduction of each character first. He is also successful in tapping out the right kind of performance from each actor.

The major highlight of the movie is its action scenes and they are marvelously energetic and well-choreographed. There are two solid chase scenes in it. They are stealing cars off a moving train in a sequence and a chase scene on foot in which Dom, Brian and Mia have to elude both Reyes’ criminal gang and Hobbs’ law enforcement team. Stephen F Windon's camera work is superb and the CGI effects shown in the film are extremely clever.
In a nutshell, Fast Five may not have an interesting script and it may run like an atomic clock, rumbling past calcified performances and logic free stunts, but it keeps the viewers' interest in the film awake till its end. It is a must watch movie.

Writer and columnist Shobhaa De has slammed Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, who was detained by the customs officials at Mumbai airport for carrying undeclared gold and diamond jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh.

The writer wrote on her Twitter page that other actors should learn a big lesson from this incident. “Poor Minissha: Lamba race ki ghodi or lame duck? Warning to other Bollywood wannabes to leave those borrowed rocks at home. Dazzle wt yr talent (sic)," she wrote.

Minisha, who attended the premiere of Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris at the Cannes Film Festival, was detained at the Mumbai Airport when she returned home. She was questioned by the costume officials for carrying undeclared assets worth lakhs of rupees and later released after Anmol Jewellers, who loaned her the jewellery, provided the necessary documents to the authorities.

Besides being detained at the airport, one of her bags was stolen at Nice Airport, France. “Disaster has struck. A baggage of mine has been stolen at Nice Airport. I can't believe something like this has happened,” Minissha posted on her Twitter page. “Even with two CCTV cameras right over the baggage, police or airline still won't confirm if it was 'stolen' or 'misplaced' (sic),” she added.

Movie Review:
Kashmakash is Hindi dubbed version of Bengali film, Naukadubi, directed by Rituparno Ghosh. It is a cinematic adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's novel 'Naukadubi'. The director has beautifully presented the novel on celluloid. The film takes the audience to an unknown era, and it's captivating.

Kashmakash deals with delicate relationships. Ramesh (Jishu Sengupta) falls in love with Hemnalini (Raima Sen) but he has to leave her and go back to his village after his father calls him. He ends up marrying the daughter of a hapless widow.

However, an accident takes Ramesh to another strange situation. He comes across a girl named Kamala (Riya Sen), whose husband has gone missing. He tries to find out her hubby and even put up an ad to trace his whereaboput. As fate has it, the girl goes missing and his first love Hemnalini comes too know of his life. Where has Kamala gone? Whom will Hemnalini marry? Will Ramesh find Kamala's husband? Watch the film to find out all these unanswered questions.

The film has strong content and director Rituparno Ghosh's presentation is wonderful. The director has brought legendary actress Suchitra Sen's grand-daughters Raima Sen and Riya Sen together on screen for the first time. Raima is incredible and she has done her role to the perfection. Riya is a revelation. She will surprise many with her performance in the film. Other lead actors Prosenjit and Dhritiman Chatterjee too have done justice to their roles.

On the whole, Kashmakash is a wonderful piece of work. You should not miss this film!

404 movie review, bollywood movie reviews, prawaal raman 404, hindi movie 404, actor nishikant kamath, actor rajvvir aroraa, actress tisca chopra

Movie Review:
Bollywood going through a changing phase. The new-age filmmakers are dynamic and innovative, when it comes to story telling, technical aspects and marketing strategy. Well, Prawaal Raman, who has a series of flop movies like Gayab, Darna Mana Hai to his credit, is back with yet another experimental movie 404, a psycho thriller. The movie has lived up to the expectations. In one word – the movie is excellent.

The story of the film is set in the backdrop of a medical college. The movie title 404 is a room, where a student named Gaurav gets killed through ragging. The room gets locked due to the widespread rumours of the dead man's presence. Professor Aniruddh (Nishikant Kamat) is a person, who never believes a supernatural powers. Then a fresher, enters Abhimanyu ( Rajvvir Aroraa) and he also becomes the ragging victim. But he fights back and he impressed the professor with hi rational thoughts. The story then set to discover the mystery of the room.

The story of the 404 makes you to sit on the edge of the seat till the end. Though, the movie is not a all out horror flick, yet it gives you a spine chilling moments at parts. The director's gripping screenplay with excellent cinematography by Savita Singh, make it a worth watch. Sameeruddin's background score is apt. Nishikant Kamath has given wonderful performance and newcomer Rajvvir Aroraa has proved that he is here to stay. Imaad Shah is perfect, Satish Kaushik and Tisca Chopra have done justice to their roles.

However, the director would have reduced the length of the movie considering boring factor in mind. Moreover, the movie does not have songs. Well, these are the two drawbacks of 404.

Cast: Nishikanth Kamat, Rajvvir Aroraa, Imaad Shah, Satish Kaushik, Tisca Chopra and others.
Director: Prawaal Raman
Music: Sameeruddin
Cinematography: Savita Singh

aishwarya rai bachchan, actress madhuri dixit, satte pe satta, actor sanjay dutt, hema malini, director soham shah, actress kajol, rani mukherjee, karisma kapoor

There is confusion over the casting of Satte Pe Satta remake. Producer Sanjay Dutt wants Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the role played by Hema Malini in the original but director Soham Shah has announced that Madhuri Dixit would act in the film. Now, the big question is – who will win, the beauty queen or the Dhak Dhak girl?

Everything turned ugly due to miscommunication between the producer and director of the film. Sanjay Dutt wanted Kajol to play the female lead but since she delivered a baby last year, his attention shifted to Aishwarya. Unluckily, Aishwarya too couldn't give her dates. So, he was considering casting Rani Mukherjee or Karisma Kapoor.

At this critical juncture, director Soham suggested Madhuri. Sources said that he told the actress' secretary to announce on her birthday that she would act in Satte Pe Satta remake. This has upset Sanjay Dutt, as he thinks that the director should have consulted the producers. He said that they haven't sent the script to Madhuri and that they are still waiting for Aishwarya to give the nod.

Well, it's 'wait and watch game' for now, as the makers of the film seem to be confused!
