Best friends while they were growing up, Emma and Will lost touch a long time ago -- as far as she knows. To Will, Emma never stopped being the most important person in his life. Believing them to be forever linked, he goes wherever she goes. Will doesn't have a home, a car, or a "real" job. He survives on his talent as a juggler and entertainer -- talents honed through years of showing off for Emma. When her father gets sick, Emma returns to their hometown, trying to leave behind her complicated love life and failing career as a TV actress. As its characters face love, death and their own preconceptions, "Waiting for Forever" questions the realities of life.

Movie Review:
WAITING FOR FOREVER is the story of Will (wonderfully played by Tom Sturridge), a drifter with a long love for Emma (Rachel Bilson), and what happens when he meets her after years apart.

This is a low-key film that tugs at the heartstrings, but director James Keach can’t decide whether this is a fantasy or a realistic drama. By trying to do both at the same time, he deals a serious blow to his film. The film flows very well for most of the running time, but the final third is where it begins to fall apart.

The performances are very strong. Tom Sturridge gives a star-making performance as Will. Will is a dreamer who is guided by his heart, and only his heart. He’s the kind of guy who sincerely believes John Lennon’s famous quote: “All you need is love.” Will is living in a fantasy world that he created, and the film implies that he may have
underlying psychological
problems; nevertheless, he’s virtually impossible not to like. As Emma, Rachel Bilson is adorable. It’s not hard to understand why Will is in love with her (or thinks he is). The other important performance is Jim, Will’s realistic older brother. Jim, played by Scott Mechlowicz, has grown up, gotten married and all that. He’s matured while Will hasn’t. Mechlowicz has a tricky role. We view him as a jerk because he’s telling Will the hard truths about life, but he’s also right. Bit performances by Richard Jenkins, a miscast Nikki Blonsky (Tracy from the movie musical of “Hairspray”), and an uneven Blythe Danner round out the supporting cast.

As wonderful as this film is, the film’s final third is mishandled, and for a movie that’s only 90 minutes long, that’s a large portion of it. I don’t want to give anything away, so I won’t say what happens, but by not tipping the scales either way, he has gotten himself into a corner and as a result, the ending is unconvincing. I almost decided the film wasn’t worth going out to see, but the bottom line is that I really enjoyed this film, regardless of its faults, and that’s the bottom line.

The 3D action-thriller "Sanctum," from executive producer James Cameron, follows a team of underwater cave divers on a treacherous expedition to the largest, most beautiful and least accessible cave system on Earth. When a tropical storm forces them deep into the caverns, they must fight raging water, deadly terrain and creeping panic as they search for an unknown escape route to the sea.

Master diver Frank McGuire (Richard Roxburgh) has explored the South Pacific's Esa-ala Caves for months. But when his exit is cut off in a flash flood, Frank's team--including 17-year-old son Josh (Rhys Wakefield) and financier Carl Hurley (Ioan Gruffudd)--are forced to radically alter plans. With dwindling supplies, the crew must navigate an underwater labyrinth to make it out. Soon, they are confronted with the unavoidable question: Can they survive, or will they be trapped forever?

Shot on location off the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, "Sanctum" employs 3D photography techniques Cameron developed to lens "Avatar." Designed to operate in extreme environments, the technology used to shoot the action-thriller will bring audiences on a breathless journey across plunging cliffs and into the furthest reaches of our subterranean world.

Bhudda Panga Nahin Lene Ka Synopsis:
Bhudda Panga Nahin Lene Ka is a film about a man who's 60 but feels he's 20 in body and mind.
Tollywood’s top director Puri Jagannath is making his foray into Bollywood with the film titled Bhudda Panga Nahin Lene Ka in which Amitabh Bachchan and Sonu Sood play father and son. The script is said to have been approved by Big B, but he has given meagre dates for the film. This film is being produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The shooting of this film will start in October.

RGV says that Sonu Sood has an uncanny resemblance to Big B and says that if photographs of Amitabh in 1970s are seen along with that of Sonu Sood the look-alike-ness is striking. Though no details of the plot are available, sources say that Bhudda Panga Nahin Lene Ka deals with what the father does to pull his son out of trouble.

IN NEWS:
Big B-Sonu Sood as father and son in Bhudda Panga Nahin Lene Ka:
Watching Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan playing father and son on screen is nothing new. In a film that marks the return of Telugu super-director Puri Jagannath in Bollywood, Sonu Sood and not Junior Bachchan has been cast as Big B’s son.

It was felt by the makers that Sonu bears an uncanny resemblance to the young Amitabh of the early 1970s.

“If you put Mr Bachchan’s stills from ‘Anand’ and ‘Pyar Ki Kahani’ next to Sood’s stills you’d think it’s the same person,” says a source close to the project.

The project, earlier titled “Bhudda: Don’t F..K With Him”, is now titled “Bhudda: Panga Nahin Lene Ka”. Apparently, Ram Gopal Varma – the film’s producer, was keen on the earlier title but the ‘F’ word didn’t go down too well with Big B.

The project puts a lid on all speculation about RGV’s apparently shaky relationship with the Bachchans. Moreover, RGV is also directing a film starring Abhishek Bachchan in January.

Except for the fact that the expletive from the title “Bhudda: Don’t F..K With Him” has now been deleted on Big B’s suggestion, the ambitious project directed by Telugu cinema’s top director Puri Jagannath has suffered no dent due to Big B’s meagre dates.

Senior Bachchan had earlier decided to focus on his television commitments for “Kaun Banega Crorepati” this year. But now, in what appears to be a swift change of plans Puri Jagannath’s film will be shot from October onwards.

Speaking from Hyderabad, Puri said: “Yes, I’ve cast Sonu Sood with Mr Bachchan. I’ve done two Telugu films with Sonu, he’s a very talented actor but I can’t talk about his role. Mr Bachchan’s character requires two heroines, so does Sonu’s. I’ll be finalizing them shortly.” By Subhash K. Jha,

On playing Big B’s son in the film, Sonu said: “It’s a dream come true for me. I’ve waited for ten years to work with Bachchan Saab… It’s an intense cop’s role and the best part is that I got the role because everyone in the project says I look like Mr Bachchan of ‘Zanjeer’. I remember it was Mani Ratnam who said it first. In ‘Yuva’, when Abhishek and I were working together as brothers, Mani Sir said I look more like Bachchan Saab than he did.”

Seth and Jonah are murderous twins who share an evil kinship. Damned from the moment of their births, the brothers possess a gruesome talent for telekinesis – a power they use in the most horrific ways imaginable. As their fellow students meet gory fates, the local law enforcement begin to suspect the twins’ connection to the depraved murders. What started as a jealous rage escalates into a supernatural showdown – pitting brother against brother, evil against evil.

After Dark Films has just included Seconds Apart into the line-up of their upcoming label, After Dark Originals “A New Brand of Fear.”

The movie revolves around Seth and Jonah, two sinister twins, with an uncanny talent for telekinesis, a power they are suspected of misusing in the most horrific ways imaginable.

When the brothers fellow students start to meet gory fates, Detective Lampkin (Orlando Jones) suspect that the twins might have something to do with the gruesome murders. Soon it all boils down to a final showdown of brother vs. brother, evil vs. evil.

Antonio Negret, the ward winning short-film director, directed the movie and as the sinister twins, Seth and Jonah, we see the real life twins’ Gary and Edmund Entin. The brothers has previously worked together in movies such as Rest Stop and The Seeker.

Since After Dark Originals will contain 8 indie horror movies and Seconds Apart was the seventh, only one movie remains to be announced, before the premiere sometime in January, next year.

Synopsis:
Umay is a young woman of Turkish descent, fighting for an independent and self-determined life in Germany against the resistance of her family. Her struggle initiates a dynamic, which results in a life-threatening situation.
This examines one woman’s struggle for personal freedom. It is a riveting and heartbreaking story of a woman trapped in an abusive relationship, who must not only free herself from that marriage, but also the cultural prejudices and judgments that would keep her there. Feo Aladag built the nuances of her film over a six year period. She rehearsed her actors for seven months. She immersed herself in every detail of a culture that is revealed to us in remarkable detail. The result is a film that balances complex social issues with honest human yearnings. Through the brutality, WHEN WE LEAVE is also a story of tenderness, the struggle for compassion, the inexorable pull of family and the need to love and be loved." German-born Umay (Sibel Kekilli) flees her oppressive marriage in Istanbul, taking her young son Cem with her. She hopes to find a better life with her family in Berlin, but her unexpected arrival creates intense conflict. Her family is trapped in their conventions, torn between their love for her and the traditional values of their community. Ultimately they decide to return Cem to his father in Turkey. To keep her son, Umay is forced to move again. She finds the inner strength to build a new life for herself and Cem, but her need for her family’s love drives her to a series of ill-fated attempts at reconciliation. What Umay doesn’t realize is just how deep the wounds have gone and how dangerous her struggle for self-determination has become…

Movie In News:
Currently making the rounds for a Foreign Oscar bid, Feo Aladag's Die Fremde (When We Leave) has just won the European Parliament's Lux prize beating out fellow nominees in Olivier Masset-Depasse "Illegal" and "Akadimia Platonos" by Greek helmer Filippos Tsitos. In previous years was awarded to: Fatih Akın's The Edge of Heaven, Dardenne Bros.' Lorna's Silence and last year's Philippe Lioret's Welcome. Olive Films will release When We Leave in January of next year. This win perhaps adds to the film's cred as an ideal dark horse pic for the first Foreign nom category shortlist.

Worth Noting: Film fest circuit wise, this picked up one award in Berlin (Label Europa Cinemas), this won a pair of awards at Tribeca and was shown at the Venice Film Festival in the Venice Days section.

Do We Care?: We still look forward in seeing the film, perhaps an Olive Films rep can get into contact with us, but as far as this prize is concerned, we find this let's "promote unification" prize to be an odd annual kudo.

Movie Reviews:
The treatment of Muslim societies in the media in general and in film in particular has been subject to much agenda setting and bias. On the one hand, this has led to frequently arrogant defamation of the cultures of one fifth of humanity, on the other hand, the discourse has helped to highlight problems of Muslim integration which are often ignored under the convenient excuse of multiculturalism. What is more important: respect for other cultures living among us or concern for the plight of the individual subjected to an excessive chauvinism that allows for nothing but submission to it?

Feo Aladag's position on this is clear, but she avoids simplifications by sticking to one woman's story, and keeping that story close, while not identical, to the events that inspired it - namely the much publicized 2005 murder of Hatun Sürücü in Berlin, albeit with a surprising twist. Some may find the depictions of a regressive macho cult in German-Turkish families and social life exaggerated, especially since the acting of the supporting cast is a bit shaky at times. But as someone who has lived in a Turkish neighborhood in Berlin, I have to declare it's not. It's disturbingly close to the truth - not the distorted truth of tabloids, but the truth of people I'm close to.

The minimalistic approach of the film would usually render it a rather harmless affair, in spite of its controversial subject matter - were it not for Sibel Kekilli's outstanding performance, for which she received, among other awards, best actress at the Tribeca festival. Her heartfelt, knowing and yet forgiving gaze at the suffocating world she lives in speaks of personal experience with the role she portrays. 'When we leave' establishes her as the most exciting German actress of today.

It should be noted, by the way, that Islamic law does not condone honorary murders and considers these just as much as crimes as Western law does. Also, this practice is not exclusive to Muslim societies, but used to be widespread in Christian countries as well, where it might still occur as a justification for homicide. But these clarifications could not have been included in this film, which tells one story, and tells it well.
