Always Kabhi Kabhi is launching SRK's good friend Karim Morani's daughter Zoa Morani. Shahrukh agreed to do the item song only for his friendship with Morani. He thought that this item number is important for the publicity of the film.

Always Kabhi Kabhi will be directed by Roshan Abbas. Shahrukh will be showing off his body that he has developed for his upcoming production Ra.One and Farahan Akhtar's Don 2.

Popular singer Christina Aguilera has apologised for the mistake she committed while singing the US national anthem at the Super Bowl yesterday.

The singer was given the chance to sing the national anthem at the opening ceremony of the Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League. However, she socked many by repeating a line of the anthem. She repeated the line “What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming” instead of the line “O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?”

Now, Christina has offered her apology for the mistake. “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through,” Contactmusic quoted the singer as saying.

Is Jimmy Sheirgill turning out to be the closest threat that Deols have in their own home ground, Punjab and other territories where their films more often than not do well? The latest development is that overseas rights (excluding UK) of Jimmy's next outing Dharti, a Punjabi-Hindi bilingual, has been sold for a handsome amount of 1 million Australian dollars to Dreamworld Entertainment, Australia. There are bids in UK (a hot territory) for the rights to be sold to the best buyer. Meanwhile the producers have retained rights in India and would be distributing films themselves here.

"There are multiple reasons behind such big money coming into picture", says a trade source, "Jimmy is a numero uno superstar in Punjabi films today after the all time blockbuster success of his last release Mel Karade Rabba (which is busy fetching awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best film and Best Music already). It went on to even smash the records of Sunny Deol's Gadar - Ek Prem Katha at number of places in Punjab. In overseas too it was a huge success, especially in Australia, UK and USA."

Prior to that, Jimmy has enjoyed worldwide blockbusters in Tera Mera Ki Rishta and Munde UK De. For the audience who either swore by Deol films all this while or were exposed to some average Punjabi films from other stars, these films came like a whiff of fresh air. And now with director Navaniat Singh and Jimmy being a force after working together in Tera Mera Ki Rishta and Mel Karade Rabba, audience is keenly anticipating a hat trick in the form of Dharti.

"Yes, Dharti has been sold for 1 million Australian dollars in overseas just on the basis of first Look promo being shown to the distributors", confirms Jimmy who is also the producer of the film, "It was a huge responsibility for us to make something good and big after our previous work. Also, since it is a Punjabi-Hindi bilingual, we have to ensure that film's treatment has the kind of class that cuts boundaries. It's the film's script that was of paramount importance and we worked hardest on that. Everything else came in later."

Dharti is a political thriller set in Punjab and would see a worldwide release on the occasion of Vaisakhi, a huge festival for Punjabis, in April this year.

LOS ANGELES: Natalie Portman is joining forces with a former boyfriend of Paris Hilton to produce movies.

The Oscar-nominated actress' production company, handsomecharlie films, will develop projects with 1821 Pictures, a firm run by Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis.

The 18-month arrangement calls for 1821 to provide overhead funds to handsomecharlie with the opportunity for the two companies to co-produce projects that come out of the partnership.

Portman, a favorite to win the best actress Oscar on February 27 for her role as a ballerina in "Black Swan," has been slowly stepping into the producing realm. She made her debut as a producer on "Hesher," an indie drama that starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt, produced and starred in the recent box office champ "No Strings Attached," and is an executive producer on the family drama "The Other Woman," which IFC Films releases Friday.

One of handsomecharlie's hot projects is the adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." That project is set up Lionsgate and in search of a director. Portman is partnered at handsomecharlie with producer Annette Savitch.

Latsis, who runs 1821 with Terry Douglas, was engaged to fellow socialite Hilton in 2005. Latsis and Douglas were executive producers on the Cameron Diaz thriller "The Box" and the Ricky Gervais comedy "The Invention of Lying," neither of which made much of an impact at the box office.

They visited the Sofiya Square and other places of interest in the city. It was not really the best weather for a visit, as it was freezing cold but they made the best of it, since they were already there."

Since both husband and wife are foodies, they tried the local specialties like kapusniak or soup made with pork, salo (pork fat), sauerkraut and served with sour cream), vinigret or salad with cooked and shredded beets and sauerkraut, sometimes pickles mixed with some sunflower oil and salt, korovai which is a round bread, perogy or dumplings stuffed with fillings such as potato and cheese, often served boiled and syrnky or cottage cheese fritters, sometimes with raisins, served with sour cream and jam. On Saturday night, they went to the famous Buddha Bar and let their hair down.

From Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao to Shabana Azmi-Javed Akhtar, Shatrughan Sinha, Naseeuddin Shah to Ranbir Kapoor...the entire who's who of the film fraternity turned up for the premiere of Dev Anand's Hum Dono on Thursday night. Except for the two leading ladies. While one of them Nanda begged off saying she was unwell when Dev Anand called her personally, the other leading lady Sadhana apparently didn't even take Dev Saab's call!

It is an unwritten rule in the Indian film industry that no one ever says no to Dev Anand. That rule just changed. Two of Dev Saab's former co-stars,the legendary but alas reclusive Sadhana and Nanda who played the two heroines in the 1961 blockbuster drama Hum Dono declined to attend the premier of the classic's colorized digital version of the classic that is being revived with much fanfare and gusto.

Most excited of all was of course the film's leading man the indefatigable Dev Anand who plays a double role opposite Sadhana and Nanda. Apparently the ebullient evergreen hero personally called up his two Hum Dono divas asking them to be present by his side at the joyous revival of the classic, not thinking for second they would turn down his invitation.

To Dev Saab's shock and annoyance both Sadhana and Nanda declined the invitation to attend the premiere.

A senior actress, who is close to both Nanda and Sadhana, defends her colleagues' elusiveness. "Dev Saab personally invited them. But neither Nanda nor Sadhana is attending. I tried to convince them to go since it's a big moment for them both. Hum Dono was a turning point in their careers. But they are much too nervous of crowds. Unlike Dev Saab who enjoys public appearances and interaction with fans Sadhana and Nanda are away from the limelight. Sadly they missed out on this glorious moment."

Euphoric with the attendance and ovation at the premiere Dev Saab expressed regret at his two leading ladies' absence from the premiere.

Said the indefatigable star, "The turn-out was heartwarming. All four screens were packed. It's a pity that Nanda and Sadhana could not be there. Nanda said she was unwell…I think they were shy. When you're away from the limelight for so long the clamorous adoring crowds can become a bit too much to handle. I intend to send them a bouquet each. After all Hum Dono is a triumph for them as well."

The weekend gone by saw the re-release of Hum Dono in a coloured version with enhanced picture quality and sound. Though Dev Anand was understandably gung-ho about the event, eventually Hum Dono Rangeen (the new title of the film) just turned out to be a show of goodwill for him with the industry coming in unison on its arrival, 50 years since it's release. However, the box office told a different tale with audience not quite driving in hordes to catch it in theatre.

The makers may have thought that just like Mughal-E-Azam (which had re-released a few years earlier in a coloured version) or Sholay (which has been re-released a number of times already), even Hum Dono would manage to find an audience for itself. However, when compared to Mughal-E-Azam which had seen good success coming it's way on it's re-release 6 years ago, Hum Dono Rangeen didn't find any takers.

There are three main reasons for that. First and foremost, there was hardly any promotion due to which audience was unaware if Hum Dono Rangeen had actually released in theatres. Yes, Dev Anand did host a premiere for the film and also reached out to the public via a few interviews and appearances etc. However, in the times of an aggressive in-your-face promotion, this wasn't good enough.

Secondly, Hum Dono was not a classic but just a good film. It was loved when released; it had also done well at the box office. However, it didn't have the kind of shelf life as the likes of Mughal-E-Azam or Sholay and wasn't enjoying multiple re-runs on satellite or via home video.

Thirdly, and most importantly, it is not a big screen extravaganza a la Mughal-E-Azam or Sholay that would have brought audience in dozens to theatres. Both films were hardcore entertainers and had number of factors (action sequences, romance, memorable dialogues etc.) that were enough to entice audience to check these out again. Hum Dono too had hit songs and powerful performances as its selling points. However, number of reasons as stated above meant that audience were not inclined enough to re-live the dream that Dev saab carried.
