with heroes in double role have altogether different attraction and pulls in more people than the usual commercial movies. It is amusing to see the same actor portraying two different characters, having similarities physically but not in mannerism. Sometimes, or often, playing both the white and black shades. In recent times several such movies have popped up bringing occasional refreshment on the screens.

‘Aadhavan’, K. S. Ravikumar’s forthcoming movie has Suriya playing double roles. Suriya had already played double roles several times, but this one has made him to play a negative role for the first time. He will be donning duel hats; one of that the good one and other as a baddie. So Suriya’s fans are eagerly waiting for this said to be action flick.

‘Aadhavan’ is a combination of several interesting facts. One, it is the second venture of Udhayanidhi Stalin’ Red Giant Productions after ‘Kuruvi’. Second, the leading lady Nayantara will be romancing the stylish hero for the first time. Third, song sequences are shot exclusively in cool locales of Iceland, a rare location chosen by a film crew, for the first time. Interestingly it was Harris Jayaraj who had churned out beautiful scores for ‘Varanam Aayiram’- another double starrer movie, will handle the rhythmic parts for ‘Aadhavan’ too.

Putting the clock backwards, K. S. Ravikumar had delivered successful films roping famed heroes to play duel characters. Recent ‘Dasavatharam’ stand testimony as the fine example for his achievement. Kamal Haasan essays multiple shades through different characters. Then going by to classic age, Sarathkumar had tried two different grease paints in ‘Nattamai’, a movie that stands out in K. S. Ravikumar’s portfolio.

Going by this black and white shaded movie list, there are many films that present two faces of one actor in double roles. ‘Vaali’ with Ajith, ‘Azhagiya Thamizh Magan’ with Vijay, ‘Singam Puli’ with Jeeva, and who can forget the hilarious film of Vadivelu, ‘Pulikesi’, a movie which rocketed the comedian to a heroic stardom? Well, these movies can really said to be double bonanza – double treat for viewers, to watch their favorite heroes in two characters at the same time on the same screen.

The latest we hear about Dhanush's forthcoming film Aadukalam is that its heroine Trisha is to withdraw from the project.

Buzz up!
According to the sources, the makers of Aadukalam and Trisha are trying to work out a settlement, by which she will be free to walk out of the film. Recently, the makers of the film did not use her call sheet and the actress was forced to cool her heels at a Madurai hotel doing nothing for four days, when other scenes were canned.
This has upset her as she thought that they were trying to be one up on her.
Also the sources reveal that the actress is now committed to her debut Bollywood project with Akshay Kumar. She is not too keen to do a realistic film in the heat and dust of Madurai, and the film may take a long time to be completed, which will upset her carefully laid out Bollywood plans.
From October, Trisha is likely to relocate herself to Mumbai as she has given her bulk dates to Priyadarsan.
Now she is acting in only one Tamil film, i.e., Vinnaithandi Varuvaya with Simbuographer: Velraj

Body snatchers Arthur Blake and Willie Grimes have pillaged their last grave. With just five hours before Arthur follows Willie to the chopping block, he recounts his life story to Father Francis Duffy. It soon becomes clear that Blake and Grimes are no ordinary grave robbers. And through Arthur's story the priest learns that not all corpses are equal.

this age of Xerox filmmaking, it's a bit of a miracle to see a film like I Sell The Dead - a refreshingly original slice of indie quirk that manages to pull off the kitchen sink approach on a very meager budget. Sure, we’ve seen other indie filmmakers try their hand at “on-a-dime” period films, but this is the first time where the end result feels genuinely authentic thanks to a superb cast, stylish direction, and some amazing production design.

Dominic Monaghan and Larry Fessenden play professional grave-robbing team Arthur & Willie, who make their living stealing corpses in 18th Century Ireland. The duo start off working for peanuts under a nefarious doctor (played by Angus Scrimm in all his scowling glory) but soon catch on to the huge money-making opportunities behind corpse snatching. Arthur recounts these events from a prison cell to a priest (a very offbeat Ron Perlman) on the eve of his beheading, so the story largely unfolds through a series of flashback vignettes as he and Willie run afoul of rival grave-robbers, vampires, zombies, and several other oddities that would be criminal to spoil.

Debut writer/director Glenn McQuaid clearly loves old Hammer films and EC Comics, and he fills his cinematic canvas with plenty of foggy moonlight and Creepshow-esque comic book transitions. Even more amazing is how this New York-lensed production effortlessly looks and feels like it was shot on the set of an old Jean Rollins movie. Terrific costumes, set dressing, make-up FX, music, and cinematography create what feels like a multi-million dollar international picture.

McQuaid’s script is incredibly witty and played for laughs, and while there are a few moments where the comedy overreaches, the ensemble cast consistently knock it out of the park. All that said, it’s the chemistry between Monaghan and Fessenden that is the heart of this film. They’re not only hysterical to watch, they successfully echo some of the all-time great comedy teams.

While I Sell The Dead is a literal gallows comedy, the tone is surprisingly lighthearted and broad (many at the screening described it as “cute”), but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment. Like Shaun of the Dead and Trick 'r Treat, this is a film made by horror fans for horror fans with enough fun to please almost any crowd. With any luck, we’ll get to see further adventures from Arthur and Willy.

I Sell The Dead stars Dominic Monaghan as Arthur Blake, an 18th Century British graverobber. He's been arrested for his crimes and is now locked up in prison awaiting his judgement, but before he faces the guillotine a priest (played by Ron Perlman) comes to talk to him. In the guise of confessing his sins Arthur brings us all back to when he was taught all about his morbid vocation by his cockney mentor/partner Willie Grimes (Larry Fessenden) with whom he provided bodies for the local mad doctor, played by one Angus Scrimm.

...

I really don't have to go on, do I? All the genre fans have already just run and bought tickets after reading that.

But it somehow gets better! Not only does this graverobbing duo have to deal with pissed-off relatives and competing body snatchers, they also live in a world populated by ghouls, vampires and zombies... among other things. This all makes their work a helluva lot more dangerous, but also a lot more profitable. After all, what scientist wouldn't want to have their own Bub to perform tests on? Of course, things soon spiral out of control and our duo goes for one big job too many.

I Sell The Dead is the kind of film you go to film fests for, the kind you can brag about to your friends and anticipate seeing again with them when it's finally released. It's laugh-out-loud funny and quite a change-up from most humorous horror flicks nowadays. It has very much of a comic book feel at parts, which is funny because it's being adapted into one. First time writer/director Glenn McQuaid shows he clearly knows his way around the camera and has a massive love for gothic horror. He's also one hell of a comedic writer.

There's really not much in the way of gore or scares here since this is played almost completely for laughs. It's helped by a fantastic and almost whimsical soundtrack whose violins call back to scores from other classically dark-humored films, like Re-Animator. The movie also oozes atmosphere, and I mean that in the most literal sense. It's clear that there were some Hammer fans in this crew, because there's a whole lotta fog here that gives it a nice, moody look. Even more amazing considering this whole film was shot in friggin' Staten Island! You would never, ever believe it... a credit to some stunning matte paintings.

But what really makes this film work is the lead duo. I'm a huge fan of Larry Fessenden (I believe his film Habit is one of the few that accurately portrays NYC nightlife) and he's really a delight here. While he of course looks like a 18th century graverobber- just give him a top hat and dirty him up a bit, and he lets his crazy eyes and broken tooth do the rest- you can tell that he's loving his accent and completely gets into his character. Just wait till you see when he tests out how a vampire works. He's responsible for most of the humor in the film, although Monaghan's straight man is no slouch in that regard as well. They work so well off each other and are completely natural as two great buddies who love and hate each other at the same time.

Angus Scrimm unfortunately doesn't have much of a role here but every word he utters or angered glance he makes is great, as usual. Ron Perlman's accent slips a couple of times but who cares- he's having a lot of fun and so are you.

To be fair, the film does feel like it's missing something. That might be because apart from the leads the other characters are hardly fleshed out- no pun intended- and the story doesn't really feel complete. Since you're only being told a few tales from these characters' dozens of exploits there's really no big finale or story arc here. But there is the feeling that there's so much more. In fact, while trying to get back together all of these fantastic actors may prove to be impossible, I'd love to see the continuing adventures of this duo. They're just so innately watchable together and it'd be easy to think up new supernatural problems to throw their way.

Is I Sell the Dead a cult classic in the making? Possibly. A movie you'll have a blast with? Absolutely.

Acclaimed anime master Hayao Miyazaki returns for his ninth animated feature with Ponyo on a Cliff, which deals with a friendship between a 5-year old boy and a goldfish princess that yearns to be human

The plot is centered on a fish girl, or mermaid, who runs away from her home in the sea. She ends up stranded on the shore and is rescued by Ssuke, a five year old boy who lives on a cliff. After taking a great liking to her, Ssuke names her Ponyo and vows to protect her forever. Meanwhile, her father, Fujimoto, is looking for his daughter, upset that she ran away. He calls his wave spirits to return Ponyo to him. Ssuke is heartbroken by this, and goes home with his mother, Lisa (or "Risa" in some translations), who tries to cheer him up, but to no avail.

Ponyo and her father have a confrontation, where Ponyo refuses to let her father call her "Brünnhilde". She declares her name to be Ponyo, and voices her desire to become human because she has started to fall in love with Ssuke. Her father silences her with difficulty and goes to summon Ponyo's mother. Meanwhile, Ponyo, with the help of her sisters, breaks away from her father, and uses his magic to make herself human. This causes an imbalance in the world, which in turn results in a huge storm. Riding on the waves of the storm, Ponyo goes back to visit Ssuke. Lisa, Ssuke, and Ponyo stay the night at Ssuke's house, hoping the storm will be over, whereupon Lisa leaves the house to check up on the residents of the nursing home she works at.

Granmammare, Ponyo's mother, arrives at Fujimoto's submarine. Fujimoto notices the moon has come out of its orbit and the satellites are falling like shooting stars. Granmammare declares that if Ssuke and Ponyo pass a test, Ponyo can live as a human and the world order will be restored. Ssuke and Ponyo wake up to find that most of the land around where the house has been covered by the ocean. Lisa has not come home yet, so with the help of Ponyo's magic, they make Ssuke's toy boat life-size and set out to find Lisa. While travelling they see ancient extinct fish swimming, such as the Gogonasus and Licosus.

After landing and finding Lisa's empty car, Ponyo and Ssuke go through a tunnel. There Ponyo loses her human form and resumes the form of a fish. Ssuke and Ponyo are taken by Fujimoto into the ocean and down to the protected nursing home where they're reunited with Lisa and meet Granmammare. Granmammare asks Ssuke if he can love Ponyo even if she is a fish or mermaid. Ssuke replies that he loves Ponyo in all forms. Granmammare then allows Ponyo to become human once Ponyo kisses Ssuke on the surface

District 9 English Movie

Cast And Crew

Studio: TriStar Pictures
Release Date: Aug 14, 2009
Country Of Origin: United States
Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United, a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare – they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens’ awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe, contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable – he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

Upon the ashes of his aborted "Halo" vidgame adaptation, producer Peter Jackson has erected "District 9," an enjoyably disgusting sci-fier set in and around a rubble-strewn war zone where extraterrestrial refugees have taken up indefinite residence. Better conceived and executed than one might expect from a low-budget rebound project, this grossly engrossing speculative fiction bears Jackson's blood-splattered fingerprints but also heralds first-time feature director Neill Blomkamp as a nimble talent to watch. A viral campaign reminiscent of the more gimmicky "Cloverfield" should draw hefty hordes initially, but positive notices and buzz will be required to sustain a B.O. invasion.

Shot and set in Blomkamp's native South Africa, "District 9" imagines a present-day scenario in which humans and aliens are forced into an uneasy co-existence and, predictably, bring out the violent worst in each other. As scripted by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, the result reps a remarkably cohesive hybrid of creature feature and satirical mockumentary that elaborates on the helmer's 2005 short "Alive in Jo'burg," borrows plot points from 1988's "Alien Nation" and takes its emotional cues from "E.T."

The film's faux-verite visual style, however, is very much a thing of the present, blending handheld HD camerawork with ersatz news coverage (complete with CNN-style text scrolls) and talking heads, plus actual archival footage from local news agencies, so as to suggest an urgent dispatch from the front lines of an interspecies war.

The introductory 15 minutes are swiftly paced, making modest demands on the viewer to keep up with the jiggly aesthetic and the particulars of the premise: Twenty years ago, an enormous spaceship came to rest over Johannesburg, now a sun-scorched urban wasteland. Since then, the ship's inhabitants, referred to as "prawns" -- four-legged insectoid beings that walk upright, secrete black goo and speak in subtitled grunts and gurgles -- have been moved into the titular ghetto and placed under the control of Multi-National United, a private corporation bent on cracking the secrets of the aliens' ultra-powerful weapons.

Into the fray strides Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), an annoyingly chipper, boastful MNU operative overseeing the transfer of aliens to the more remote District 10. Blithely navigating cameramen through the creatures' filthy shack homes, Wikus accidentally comes into contact with an icky substance that, within hours, begins altering his DNA.

In the script's most ingenious gambit, the contaminated Wikus is suddenly coveted by MNU, as well as by a gang of Nigerian thugs and witch doctors who won't win the filmmakers any prizes for ethnic sensitivity. Forced into hiding, Wikus teams up with an intelligent, green-skinned prawn, Christopher Johnson (voiced by Jason Cope), and his kid, Little CJ, who's kinda cute in a hideous sort of way; together, they seek a way to reverse Wikus' alien metamorphosis and help the refugees return to their planet.

Rather than plunge the viewer immediately into unrelieved carnage and chaos, the film opens on a note of anxious uncertainty and tense humor as it probes the varying degrees of hostility in human-prawn relations. Though compelling throughout, "District 9" never becomes outright terrifying, largely because Blomkamp is less interested in exploiting his aliens for cheap scares than in holding up a mirror to our own bloodthirsty, xenophobic species.

That said, he doesn't skimp on the viscera; it's hard to watch the grisly climactic battle, with its parade of high-tech weaponry and exploding body parts, and not think of the horror cheapies Jackson was making pre-"Lord of the Rings." The pic does take a sentimental turn toward the end, with an excess of alien reaction shots that feel at odds with the much more authentic passion Blomkamp lovingly invests in his grotesque setpieces.

Copley makes the most of the only substantial human role -- and not an especially likable one at that -- with a twitchy, blustery, shifty-eyed performance of ferretlike intensity. Dropping F-bombs in Afrikaans-accented English, he ably conveys not only Wikus' physical transformation but also his mental deterioration and subsequent moral awakening; it's to the pic's credit that when Wikus is shown on the battlefield, his half-mutated body covered with festering wounds and alien protrusions, he has never seemed more profoundly human.

Lensed primarily on the Red-One camera, the film looks and sounds terrific, its seeming improvisation masking the obviously exhaustive planning required in all departments. The interactions between the aliens (a combo of f/x and old-fashioned prosthetics) and the humans are handled as confidently as anything in the "Transformers" movies and are arguably more impressive for d.p. Trent Opaloch's off-the-cuff shooting style. Clinton Shorter's percussive score is effective but at times over-reliant on the loud wailing/crooning that has become a too-easy signifier of Africa and other foreign locales.

Aly Michalka ("Phil of the Future," pop duo Aly and AJ) and Vanessa Hudgens ("High School Musical 1 & 2," "High School Musical 3") join Gaelan Connell ("Chocolat"), Scott Porter ("Speed Racer") and Lisa Kudrow ("Friends") in the music-driven comedy "Bandslam." Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sam (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. Disney Channel superstars Vanessa Anne Hudgens ('High School Musical 1 & 2,' 'High School Musical 3') and Alyson Michalka ('Phil of the Future,' pop duo Aly and AJ) join Gaelan Connell ('Chocolat'), Scott Porter ('Speed Racer') and Lisa Kudrow ('Friends') in the music-driven comedy 'Bandslam.' When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banks (Michalka) asks new kid in town Will Burton (Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben (Porter), at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sam (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it's time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?

Will Burton (Gaelan Connell) is used to being bullied or completely ignored by his schoolmates. So when cool and popular former cheerleader Charlotte Banks (Aly Michalka) starts inviting him to spend time with her, the teenager is stunned — as is his single mom Karen (Lisa Kudrow). Impressed by his eclectic knowledge of music, Charlotte, a gifted singer-songwriter, asks Will to manage her rock/ska band. Her goal is to take revenge on her egocentric musician ex-boyfriend Ben Wheatley (Scott Porter) at a regional battle of the bands.

Unsure of what he's getting himself into, Will agrees to help Charlotte's band, including Bug (Charlie Saxton) and Omar (Tim Jo), eventually expanding it with a crew of like-minded outcasts. Against all odds, the group's sound starts to come together and their prospects for success look bright. Even more surprising, Will starts losing his "loser-status", up to the point there is a potential romance brewing with Sa5m[3] (Vanessa Hudgens), a classmate with untapped musical talents.

A great movie. I was fortunate enough to watch the advance screening in Bellevue, and it was worth the travel and the day off.

First of all, the trailers and how Summit is promoting this to the public is misleading. Vanessa Hudgens isn't the main character of this movie. Gaelan and Aly are.

The story is told in Gaelan, aka 'Will's point of view. He meets Aly, a popular girl who takes him under her wing and turns him into her band's manager. He also meets Vanessa aka Sa5m (the 5 is silent) and becomes her partner in the class project.

The whole cast are wonderful, and they mesh well together. There were a lot of funny scenes that made me almost pee on myself. (so be careful when drinking soda) And the cast performance were all spot on.

The screening that I was in was mostly of people in their late 20s-60s. And when we came out of the theater, there were definitely a lot of smiles. In fact, one of them was even in the bus and couldn't stop gushing about it.

I definitely think that Summit should have marketed this to older folks as well because coming out from that theater, it was the older audience that enjoyed it the most. I'm in my 20s and the film was very enjoyable. I can't wait to watch it again.

Julie & Julia" — The Julia parts are a delight, but the ones about Julie? More like an annoying distraction. Writer-director Nora Ephron has woven together the real-life stories of two women separated by decades and a body of water but connected by a love of food and a quest for identity. One is Julia Child (Meryl Streep), the larger-than-life TV cook and author who inspired untold numbers of ambitious gourmands to embrace French cuisine the way she had. The other is Julie Powell (Amy Adams), a New York cubicle dweller who spent a year making all 524 recipes in Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and blogging about it. Ephron cuts back and forth between their lives — reminiscent of her earlier hits "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail" — and too often spells out the obvious parallels. But the more time we spend with Julia, the less we want to spend with Julie. Streep is an absolute hoot, portraying Child with a mix of sweetness, awkwardness and most of all an unabashed joie de vivre. When she casts aside the baggage of being "the greatest living actress of our generation" and revels in her inner goofball, as she did in "Mamma Mia!" it's infectious. She's also lovely alongside Stanley Tucci as Julia's adoring husband, Paul; all that tension You feel hunger pangs all the way through "Julie & Julia." Platters of boeuf bourguignon, sole meuniere, fresh oysters, trussed chickens and calves' livers served with crusty baguettes and desserts of fromage blanc move tantalizingly before your eyes. But there is another hunger: As enjoyable as this foodie movie is, you wish it would take a deeper, more nuanced measure of the women who, in two different eras, star in the movie's kitchens.

Writer-director Nora Ephron tells of two real-life people, newly wed and restless with ill-defined ambitions, and how they discover their true selves in gourmet cooking. They are America's first food star, the late cookbook author and TV personality Julia Child, and an otherwise unknown 30-year-old wife in Queens, N.Y., Julie Powell, who blogged about her attempt to cook all 524 recipes in Child's legendary "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in a single year.

The film is primed to do extremely well with female audiences in many markets, an attraction only enhanced by stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.

Ephron, who certainly delights in parallel story lines -- "Sleepless in Seattle," "You've Got Mail," "When Harry Met Sally ..." -- has merged two recent memoirs, "My Life in France," which Child wrote with her grandnephew Alex Prud'homme, and "Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously," by Powell.

Probably this merger makes commercial sense: Neither memoir is the stuff of popular moviemaking, though Child's reminiscences of her life-changing experiences in postwar France -- where she fell in love with French culture, cuisine, local markets and her classes at the Cordon Bleu -- might have been worth a try.

Powell's story about her single-minded engagement with Child's cookbook has an almost unpleasant taste of self-absorption. And by sharing her story with Child's, Ephron throws the wrong emphasis on Child's delightful memoir of the early years in her ideal marriage to Paul Child.

True, the movie shows that Paul -- played with modest self-effacement by Stanley Tucci against Streep's larger-than-life Julia -- encourages his beloved wife's every experiment in the kitchen and the writing of her seminal book. But by contrasting that memoir with Powell's, the movie somewhat distorts the life the Childs share as they revel in their love for la belle France and each other.

Streep delivers yet another uncanny impersonation, getting every shade of the famously hearty voice and extravagant, life-loving personality that was Julia. The evocation of late-'40s Paris encourages a terrific sense of nostalgia, whether one was alive or even in France then or not. After "Julie & Julia," you feel like you were.

The details of the couple's life and their meals, Julia's Kismet-like meeting with Simone Beck and Louisette Bertholle, with whom she wrote her first cookbook, and all mood swings as publishers reject -- and Knopf enthusiastically accepts -- the monumental work fill the screen with joie de vivre.

Adams' Julie is more of a lost soul. She lives with a "saint," as she often calls her husband, Eric (Chris Messina), in an iffy apartment above a pizza parlor. She works as a secretary in a federal government office overlooking the World Trade Center crater and laments that she has never finished anything in her life. Thus her determination to complete the cookbook marathon.

She suffers for her blog. She drags herself to that cramped kitchen whether sick or well. She refuses to quit because it has become her identity. Without the "Julie/Julia Project," she'd revert to a frustrated wife with a husband, dead-end job and another unfinished project. No joie de vivre here.

Possibly the Powell sequences might have worked better as a framing device. Sharing equal time with Julia's discovery of la cuisine bourgeoisie, it turns the banquet that was Julia's French experiences into short-order dishes. And even in the Julia sequences, Ephron dwells far too long on the conflicts among the cookbook's three authors.

Consequently, the movie misses the point of "My Life in France." That country liberated Julia, a 6-foot-2 woman -- tall girls "don't fit it," her equally tall sister remarks -- from a conservative Republican household in Pasadena. France released her from middle-class values and its indifferent attitude toward food. She in turn introduced the modern American woman to the glories of cooking and how she could express artistry in her kitchen.

So "Julie & Julia" is a mixed blessing. You enjoy vicariously many dishes, sample the good life in France and get treated to another Streep marvel. Stephen Goldblatt's lush cinematography and Alexandre Desplat's whimsical score make the film's two worlds inviting. Both female protagonists even enjoy a final triumph, but one indulges far too much in Bridget Jones-like self-obsession.

they created as co-stars in "The Devil Wears Prada" has transformed into a different kind of chemistry. Julie, by contrast, isn't so well-defined. The deeper she delves into her cooking project, the more whiny, narcissistic and unlikable she becomes — which is surprising given Adams' seemingly boundless charm. PG-13 for brief strong language and some sensuality. 123 min. Two stars out of four.

Review

Young filmmaker Charlyne Yi doubles up here as a fictional character by the same name in a deep funk over her failure to detect any urge in herself to fall in love, and also as herself, a roving reporter wandering cross-country to interrogate assorted happy lovers and and self-important love gurus on the subject. Meanwhile, there's a mock romance centerpiece in which Superbad's super-nerd Michael Cera also turns up and hits on Charlyne, sending her into anxious fantasy dating denial.

And interspersed along the way, are all sorts of authentic, however eccentric, grassroots dissertations on the anatomy of love. Including Vegas matrimony; biker bar love deconstructed as 'thirty minutes in the back seat'; trying on a rack of wedding gowns for size; scientific mavens breaking down that euphoric urge into chemical brain matter and molecules; and unrequited animal attraction at a local zoo.

In case this may sound like an awful lot of incongruous scraps for director and on-location, usually baffled commentator Nicholas Jasenovec to load into a camera, the final product, miraculously, does comes together in mostly seamlessly kooky, if hardly conventional ways. Charlyne and her scruffy, hoodie clad tomboyish, unlikely no-frills leading lady persona essentially sneaks up and grabs audience hearts with a self-effacing charm that is impossible to resist. A little like, say, the enigmatic power of love.

There may be a slight correction in order, to that axiom about the two inevitable components of human existence being death and taxes, with the addition to that list of love. Or at least the elusive quest for that ecstatic state of mind, as detailed in the simultaneously whimsical, affectionate and nutty pseudo-doc, Paper Heart.

Though the twist of choice here, a female rather than a male who can't seem to get in the mood for romance, is rapidly becoming the norm in films, if the current movie season is any indication. At least four other movies feature perplexed, infatuation-immune women: The Proposal, (500) Days Of Summer, Management, and I Hate Valentines Day. So what's up with that, girlfriends.

Review

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, whose previous collaboration was the worldwide blockbuster "Transformers," have reunited for another extraordinary action-adventure "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos.

Director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) adapts the beloved Hasbro G.I. Joe toy line with this Paramount Pictures production that pits the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity against the evil forces of the organization known as Cobra. Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum star as General Hawk and Duke Hauser, respectively, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marlon Wayans leading the rest of the cast, including Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Saïd Taghmaoui, and Asian film star Lee Byung-hun

this year has suffered the one-two punch of bad buzz and worse marketing, it's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Those who've spent even a small amount of time reading online sites and movie mags have likely caught wind of problems in the editing room, problems with the script, problems with the director, Stephen Sommers, and, most importantly, problems with the movie itself – rumors which were hardly dispelled by the film's downright unimpressive trailers. That, coupled with the hesitancy of the die-hard Joe fans to support any adaptation – as well as the fact that today's kids simply weren't raised on the classic toys and cartoons – virtually paved the way for a film that appeared as if it'd make Transformers 2 look like Twelfth Night in comparison.

Count us surprised then that G.I. Joe doesn't disappoint. In fact, taken in the proper spirit, it delivers a relatively action-packed and – dare we say – fun bit of mindless entertainment in a fashion that's been missing from movie screens this summer. In these days of more serious-minded (and wildly successful) adaptations, it is unexpectedly refreshing for a film to be so wildly "popcorn" without falling into the realm of the unengaging and inane. Let's make no mistake here, however. This is a B-level action movie with relatively well-drawn characters, a few minor subplots and smartly staged, near-constant action. Shakespeare, it ain't. For better or worse, it feels very much like Sommers' The Mummy, chock-a-block with massive set pieces and broad, dramatic beats without ever taking itself too seriously.

When weapons manufacturer McCullen – soon to be known as Destro – tries to frame NATO forces for the theft of his own metal-eating nano-bot rockets, an even more elite Special Forces group enters the picture: G.I. Joe. Soon, a military caravan led by officers Duke and Ripcord is hijacked by the Baroness and her men, thwarted only by the sudden appearance of Scarlett, Snake-Eyes and Heavy Duty, blasting away in true Joe fashion. Eventually, the pair is allowed to tag along with the group on a mission to retrieve the missles before Destro, Baroness, Storm Shadow and the soon-to-be Cobras can use them against strategic, well-populated targets in an effort to… what else?… take over the world

Review

Chal Chalein movie starts when Navneet commits suicide. He commits suicide because of his parents study pressure. The guy was interested in literature but father wants to see him as an engineer. The guy was innocent, playful and rational. This accident gives the reason of Chal Chalein movie to go ahead. It is one step against injustice. “Dashing Lads” group is now worried and wants to do something to stop these types of suicides. They thought to start a movement against those parents, who pressuring their children. In this process they meet with Sanjay (Mithun Chakraborty), who is a lawyer. Mithun Chakraborty is known as helpful person so; in this movie he helps the movement of students. Another kid’s superstar, Mukesh Khanna is appointed as Justice Bharat Kumar. Whole nations help to the children against parents’ pressure.

According to the Chal Chalein movie there are some questions which will be solved in the movie – Are the students right? What would be the reaction? What will be the judgment? Whom do you support? Last question is for audiences. Whom audiences will support?

Director Ujjwal Singh has tried to raise some basic questions related to the education system. Yes, he is right but it is one aspect of that problem by which students commit suicide. Why a father wants to see his son as a doctor or engineer? I think this is the basic question but it never has been raised in the movie.

Writer of the movie Vijaya Ramchandrula is also satisfied to solve single question of the society in dreamy style. Surely, Chal Chalein is not a big budget movie because it is directed by Mahesh Padalkar.

Chal Chalein is the drama genre movie which will show the mentality of middle class society. It will not get great popularity like New York movie or Love Aaaj Kal because it is just like a TV serial. I have not seen this type of movie yet but the movie has tried to show the real problem of society.

Chal Chalein movie show a revolutionary energy to fight against parents. It is really good but is it possible in real life? We know that in advance country like – the USA and the UK parents are not able to pressurize their children but in India it is still very backward concept.

Chal Chalein movie leads the problem of middle class society only. It is not a problem in lower class and higher class society because in lower class students get nominal study to survive their life and in higher class society they need not to think about their future career. Basically, the problem to commit suicide leads the concept of career. A father wants to see his son as an engineer or doctor because he wants to secure his child career.

I am very sure that Chal Chalein movie will conclude this problem against parents. So, you can watch a drama and dynamics of students thought, concept and their fight. The movie is just like a drama which would be better for kids and parents only.

We have already watched the basic concept of education in Tare Zameen Par. Education says to go deep into a subject which is the choice of a student. I have also watched many Indian families, who pressurize their children to make contact only with books not with living things. I am waiting Chal Chalien at theater then after it would be consider that how effective the movie is!

ReviewRam Gopal Verma as a director in Bollywood is most famous for thrilling and adventure movies After Phoonk which was released in 2008 in the direction of Ram Gopal Varma now, Agyaat is ready to release at theater on 7th August, 2009. It is said that Ram Gopal Varma always choose a unique theme but still I am not convince with the director. Agyaat is a thriller movie which movies around the realm of fear. Phoonk was claimed as the scariest movie and if a person watch the movie alone in a theater, will win Rs. 5 lakhs reward. But it was not a successful movie. Again with the Agyaat, director Ram Gopal Varma has great expectation because it is also thrilling and adventure movie. I like the director because he has given so many successful movies like – Rangeela (1995), Satya (1998) and Sarkar (2005) but I am not agreeing with his style. The director chooses his favourite heroine and brings her in every movie like – Urmila Matondkar, Rani Mukherjee and now, Nisha Kothari. Now, I should come to the Agyaat movie review. At first we should know the meaning of “Agyaat”. English word unknown is known as Agyaat in Hindi. So, story of Agyaat is completely clear by the name of the movie. In the Agyaat movie a film unit goes into a forest to shoot a movie. During the film shooting they are trapped by something which is unknown. The thing which kills their unit’s member is Agyaat. The whole movie moves around the murder mystery. The mystery is unseen by them and it as known as Agyaat by them. They run to live but the Agyaat comes as unseen to kill them. Thy fight together but they don’t get success.

Official site of Agyaat movie http://agyaat-theunknown.com, writes about the synopsis of the movie,
“A film unit goes for a shoot deep into a forest.

They settle at a place with bare minimal facilities run by a strange and quirky man called Setu.

The hero of the film Sharman is a completely self obsessed man with no other concern except for his muscles and the leading lady. The leading lady Aasha bears with him because of his star status. Director JJ thinks of himself as India’s answer to Steven Spielberg and Producer Moorty thinks the director is screwing up the film and stopping him from becoming the next Yash Chopra. Laxman is a completely subservient spot boy but with a hidden monstrous ego. Cinematographer Shakky is very philosophical in nature and Action Director Rakka is a frustrated man who hates the leading actor, Sharman. Script Supervisor Sameera is a simpleton with ideals and a secret crush on the protagonist Sujal who is an Assistant Director, who in turn has a huge crush on Aasha.

It all begins when the camera conks off… They have two days waiting for the replacement to arrive and with no form of entertainment or communication when Setu suggests a camping trip into the forest, they jump at the opportunity. As Setu drives them through the jungle around undergrowth in a relic Jonga, they begin to wonder how Setu can remember the way back as the jungle looks the same all around.

As they settle near a pond for the night and sit around a bonfire Setu hears a strange sound. He goes to investigate and never returns. After a desperate search they discover his dead body.

Panic sets in among the unit members and they jump into the Jonga but them being unfamiliar with the terrain and their hastiness result in an accident. The axle breaks.

Now completely lost and trapped in the jungle as Setu, the only guy who knows the way out is dead, they don’t know which way to move to get out of the forest… yet another unit member gets brutally killed thereby, making them realize that whatever it is that has killed Setu is out to get them all.

From then on it is a desperate struggle to survive against that unknown entity. And as their numbers dwindle the suppressed passions among them come forth, they realize that it is not only their lives they are fighting for, but also for their loves…”

From my point of view the movie has nothing but camera effect and storyline. In the movie acting is not primary because thrilling and fear creates camera effect rather than natural acting. Location of Agyaat movie is deep in the forests of Sri Lanka. The forest is really dark and fearing. Main casts of Agyaat movie are - Nisha Kothari, Nitin Reddy, Ravi Kale, Ishrat Ali, Kali Prasad Mukherjee, Harvey Rosemeyer, Rasika Duggal and Joy Fernandes. In the beginning of the movie you will watch some Masala also but soon the Masala turns in fear. No one can escape because Agyaat is unseen and it can come from trees, water and air. From anywhere it can attack…now one can live…even to run…it has come to kill…it is Agyaat…

About the movie Ram Gopal Varma said on the above mentioned official site in the director notes,
“I have always been an incredible fan of the thriller genre where there is an unknown or a known entity which is out to kill at random a group of people trapped in a certain situation whether it is Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ or John Carpenter’s “The Thing”. Not to forget the “Blair Witch Project” in which the genius of the concept has gone to the extent of not showing the antagonist at all. I have titled my film based on this concept as ‘AGYAAT’ -meaning the unknown.

This movie will also be about the emotional complexities that extreme fear unleashes in people.

The story is about how a film unit on a shoot, in a far away land in a certain situation gets trapped deep in a forest and one by one the members start getting killed.

Why I selected a film unit to be the protagonists for this story is because a film unit is literally like a walking office in terms of its various hierarchical elements.

A star who is obsessed with himself, a leading lady who bears with him because of his stardom, a director who thinks he will be the next Steven Spielberg, a producer who thinks that the director is screwing up his film, an assistant director who has a crush on the heroine, a script girl who has quite a few things for the assistant director, a frustrated action director who has a hidden maniacal streak in him, a highly subservient spot boy with a monstrous ego, are just a few of the assorted characters in this story.

The unknown entity which starts killing them one by one in the film is really a premise and the real exciting part for me is the human drama of how in a given situation the whole film unit’s hierarchical differences get erased and all of them become as human as anybody else when faced with death.

Review

Guddu and Charlie are brothers, born and raised in Dharavi, the world's largest slum in the heart of the megalopolis, Mumbai.
They also happen to be identical twins, in early twenties, hoping to leave the squalor behind and move into a life of prosperity and dignity. But the similarity ends here.
Guddu works as a trainee in a small NGO firm in the city. He hopes to climb up to the top of the corporate ladder. He wants to be a bona fide member of the burgeoning Indian middle class. His career has only just begun though and the road to bourgeoisie is both long and arduous. Yet Guddu is at it. He is honest, diligent and careful. Especially careful.
Charlie makes a living hedging bets at the race course. He moves around the plush hordes of the rich and famous at the races. For him this is just a way to make quick money and he dreams of becoming a legitimate bookie one day. Charlie is street smart, wily and brave. And only for himself.
The brothers don't like each other. They believe they have nothing in common, not even their speech defect. While Guddu stammers, especially when he is nervous, Charlie has a lisp. The brothers have built their lives so that their paths don't ever cross. They believe it's only a question of time before they are out of each other's sight forever.
All that is about to change. In one day. A day of reckoning. An unusual day, just right for the unusual events that unfold in its course.
Charlie is having a bad day at the office. He has practically bet everything he possesses on a coveted derby race. But at the last minute, he is double crossed as the race is fixed in their opponent's favour. He hunts down the jockey and plans to get even when the rival goons burst in. In the ensuing melee, Charlie and friends take off with a getaway car. Not knowing that the car belongs to a ruthless pair of cops, Lobo and Lele, who run drugs for the beach lord, Tashi. Soon enough, Charlie discovers a stash of coke in the boot of the car. All hell now breaks loose as the cops and the drug mafia get after his case. Charlie has to survive. And by his wits alone.
Guddu is performing a street theatre act when his newfound girlfriend, Sweety Bhope appears on the scene, distraught and announces that she is pregnant. Guddu is shocked at first but realizes quickly that there is no real problem. They can get married right away! They can't. There is a real problem. Sweety reveals her secret – her brother is Sunil 'chopper' Bhope, a gangster with political ambitions. A ridiculously dangerous man. And he already knows. Sweety informs Guddu that as they speak, her brother's men are out for his blood.
The story unfolds as the day progresses. Intercut between the parallel stories of the brothers as they run to protect themselves, their dreams and their love. Until a point where it converges and the brothers meet to realize that they only have each other. It is only through trust in each other that they can get out of the mess that they haven't created. They uncover a deadly political-police-underworld nexus. They discover virtues within themselves they thought didn't exist. And most important of all, they find each other.
