George Michael serenaded by inmates on his first day in jail
Friday, September 17, 2010, 10:27 [IST]
London (ANI): Singer George Michael is said to have had a harrowing first day at Pentonville prison, after sex offenders started chanting his songs as soon as they came to know he was being jailed there. Michael, 47, was strip-searched, put in the sex offenders’ block and mocked by inmates screaming out twisted versions of his hits.
He was escorted to the shower block to the relentless chants of “Guilty George has got no Freedom”. “As soon as he arrived some of the prisoners burst into a rendition of Freedom,” the Mirror quoted an inmate as saying. “And when he was taken to shower they sang ‘Guilty George has got no freedom’ to the tune of Careless Whisper.”
“He is sulking. He’s wearing prison-issue tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt but doesn’t have any shoes on. When the cells were unlocked in the morning he just sat there and refused to come out. Everyone was peering out of their windows overlooking the exercise yard expecting to see him but he didn’t show,” the inmate added.

She claims they had sex on a sofa in his LA mansion three days later while Demi was away shooting a movie. "We made love on the couch. He's a great lover, very considerate and sweet," the Sun quoted Brittney as saying. She says that they met again two weeks later - when Kutcher, 32, ended the fling. 'Jersey Shore' star J-Woww gets breast size enhanced
Thursday, September 16, 2010, 11:03 [IST]
New York (ANI): 'Jersey Shore' star J-Woww took help from plastic surgeons to expand her cup size for the third season of MTV show. The 24-year-old reality star paid a visit to a Park Avenue plastic surgeon before heading back to Seaside Heights this summer to film the third season of the hit MTV show.
"She sought my assistance," the New York Daily News quoted New York-based plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Greenberg as telling Life & Style mag. "I do a lot of breast augmentations for celebrities and redo work for them. She wanted my help in trying to redo cosmetic surgery procedures she'd previously had done by another doctor," Greenberg added.
J-Woww must have been pleased with her new and improved enhancements since she proudly showed them off in a pink-and-black bikini top at a Point Pleasant, N.J. bar on Aug. 28. The busty brunette even sprawled her body across the bar to have cast mates Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi and Deena Nicole Cortese take shots of alcohol off of her new assets.
During this celebrated occasion, cameras also spotted a thick red scar underneath one of her breasts that was clearly visible while she was laying down. "The scar looks new," said New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Fiorillo, who added that the reality star appears to have had more work done. "She's a D to a DD cup. Her breasts are large, but they seem proportional to her body. Any bigger would be too much," Fiorillo added.

Gemma Arterton accuses Hollywood of mistreatment
Thursday, September 16, 2010, 17:45 [IST]
London, (ANI): Actress Gemma Arterton has slammed the film industry for putting women in the ‘background'. The former Bond girl said that she had almost been tempted to walk off film sets in the past because of mistreatment.
The 24-year-old said she had read so many scripts, in which women languished in the shadows or were simply there to help the male lead.
The actress, who starred in this year's blockbusters Clash Of The Titans and Prince Of Persia, criticised the 't**ts out there (in the film world) who don't deserve to be in the positions they're in and treat people like s**t'.
''I've nearly walked off very big films before, and I would, because I don't want that in my life. I want to enjoy the work I do,'' the Telegraph quoted her as telling GQ magazine. She said that she is established as an actress and wants to work with people who respect her.
''I'm looking forward to work with people I get on with; who respect me, don't just see me as a piece of ass, which I have experienced as well,'' she said.

Salman Khan's Dabangg collected approx. Rs. 6.75 cr. nett on Wednesday, taking its 6-day total to approx. Rs. 74 cr. to Rs. 74.5 cr. nett. The film continues to perform exceedingly well at single screens, while multiplexes have shown the usual drops on weekdays. Like this writer pointed out yesterday, the first week distributors' share will be on the higher side [approx. Rs. 50 cr. or in that range] since the rentals at single screens are as low at 15% to 20% to 30% and the distributors' share, therefore, will be 85%, 80% or 70%, depending on the property and location.
3 Idiots had collected Rs. 79.55 cr. nett in Week 1 [including Thursday previews] and Dabangg is likely to cross this figure in Week 1, at the rate it's faring.

Priyanka Chopra has come to the rescue of the Viacom18's television entertainment channel Colors.
Priyanka beats Akshay as a host

Khatron Ke Khiladi 3 with its haseena (beauty) Priyanka Chopra has come to the rescue of the Viacom18's television entertainment channel Colors. From last few months Colors has been losing its viewers to the daily soap channel Star Plus.
All the credit goes to the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi that has again won the eye ball for Colors TV. According to the latest data provided by the TAM Media, the Gross Rating Point (GRP) of Colors TV has shot up to 314 which is a gain of around 47 GRP. The first episode of the show Khatron Ke Khiladi 3 fetched Colors the best TRP (Television rating Point) around 5.49% as compared to the previous season of the show. The TRP of first episode of KKK in 2008 and 2009 were 4.4% and 2.05% respectively.
Adding to the achievement, it is stated by the TAM data that this reality show stood in fifth place among the top 10 television shows in the last week.
The first two seasons of KKK was hosted by action hero Akshay Kumar. So is it fair to say that Priyanka has won the battle against Akshay? Well, though Priyanka started off very nervously as a host of KKK3 she has improved her ways to impress her television audience along the week. Well! Priyanka hope these ratings have unburdened your burden of matching up to Akshay's level!

Sahara One slashes budget for two daily soaps

The relationship between channel and the production house is that of boss and employee. If the channel does not get the expected profit from the production, the channel slashes down the budget of the show. That's the way it goes. This is precisely what has happened with Sahara One’s ‘Bitto’ and ‘Shorr’ that air every Monday to Thursday at 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM, respectively.
A little birdie from the sets informed that, “Sahara One has warned the shows, ‘Bitto’ and ‘Shorr’ to improve their quality in context of performance. Taking into consideration the looks, the acting, the overall feel of the show, the channel had to cut down the budget of the shows by 20 to 30 percent.”
“After warning the production houses repeatedly to bring improvement in the shows, the production didn’t consider it. Therefore, the channel decided on to slash the per episode budget of the shows.”
The buzz is also that the production of the show ‘Bitto’ has also changed almost four directors to suit the show but none of them clicked.
Well, hope that both the shows pay heed to this budget cut and pull up their socks, else the channel wont think twice before ya

Commenting on it, he laughs aloud and says, "I love dancing. Whenever I get a chance to dance, I do it. I dance anywhere; be it parties or a get together at home. It is kind of my inborn talent. Dancing is relaxation too from the kind of stress we actors face".
Talking further, he also adds, “I have actually learnt dancing for 3-4 months.” Ironically, he hasn't got a chance to participate in any dance reality show, but he told continued that, “I would love to be a part of a dance reality. Recently I got a call from the ‘Boogie Woogie’ people and they wanted me to perform with one of their contestants for a special episode
. But I had some date issues. So, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it.”
Sharing more about his talent, he also quips, “I can do any form of dance and I’m very much comfortable be it Jazz, Salsa or Bollywood.”

Dimple Jhangiani aka Sandhya of ‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ has waited for this day for a long time, and which she is all set to celebrate in a grand way. You must be wondering what this day is... Well it's the sweet lass' sweetheart's birthday, of course!
An excited Dimple said “I have been granted leave for celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday since two months ago, so that I will be set free for the day with out any hurdles. On the 17th of this month, my boyfriend, Pankaj, will turn 23 and I have planned a grand surprise for him. Feeling damn excited for the day. I've been counting down for the last fifteen days!”
When we asked her what the big secret is, she giggled and said, “I am going to give him 23 gifts because he will turn 23 on the day.”
We believe her, as when we bumped into her in a shopping mall, a number of those gifts were already in the several bags she was carrying. “I have made a list of those 23 gifts which I want to gift him,” adds Dimple. “They will start from simple things like guys' accessories, t-shirts, colognes, and so on... and then get better and better!! I can't wait to see the look on his face when he opens them."
For surprise's sake, we will not mention any of the other special gifts she has in store for the lucky guy, but we will say that this will be one of the most memorable birthdays in your life, Pankaj! Enjoy!

The Indian Television Industry is full of Karans, and on top of that, there are Karans with the same last name! So how is one supposed to distinguish between one Karan Mehra a.k.a Naitik of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and another of ‘Behenein’.
According to a source, “Karan Mehra of ‘Behenein’ gets calls from fans thinking that he is Naitik of Yeh Rishta… as his name is also Karan Mehra. But as soon as they come to know that he is not Naitik, they cut the phone saying ‘wrong number’ as Karan Mehra of ‘Behenein’ is not that popular a figure, though he had entered the industry before Naitik.”
Well, we had to know Karan's... err... Behenein's Karan's... opinion on this... and he laughed, "Yes, I do get calls from various production houses and fans thinking that I am Naitik of Yeh Rishta… But they hang up on me as soon as they come to know that I am a different Karan Mehra…. I think I should start talking with them. Not the production people, but at least with the fans so that they will get the satisfaction of talking to Naitik. (laughs) What do you think?”

Mom charged with teaching 2-year-old to smoke pot

Jessica Gamble could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
(CNN) -- An Ohio mother has been accused of teaching her 2-year-old daughter to smoke marijuana after prosecutors said she e-mailed to friends a video of the child puffing on a joint.
Jessica Gamble is charged with child endangerment, evidence tampering and "corrupting another with drugs," according to an indictment returned by a grand jury in Cincinnati. The 21-year-old mother could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters told reporters that Gamble was indicted after someone to whom she sent the video reported it to authorities. The girl has been placed in the care of relatives "and is safe today," Julie Wilson, the chief assistant prosecutor for Hamilton County, told HLN's "Prime News" Thursday.
"Obviously, the case is just starting, so we're taking it very, very seriously," Wilson said. "She stands indicted on very serious felony charges. We'll have to see how it all plays out, but we're obviously very concerned about this little girl and we'll do whatever we can to make sure that she's safe."
Attempts to contact a lawyer for Gamble were unsuccessful.
Prosecutors released the grainy mobile phone video after Gamble's indictment this week. On it, the child appears to take a puff from a thickly rolled marijuana cigarette as a woman identified as Gamble laughs and tells her, "Don't blow on it."
When the girl brings the joint to her, the woman asks, "What is that? What is that?" Taking the pot from the child, she chuckles and says, "Bad."

Police: Washington state woman made up acid attack story

Police in Vancouver, Washington, say Bethany Storro has admitted her injuries were self-inflicted.
(CNN) -- A 28-year-old woman who said an unknown assailant threw a cup of caustic liquid in her face has admitted her injuries were self-inflicted, Vancouver, Washington, police said Thursday.
Bethany Storro was being interviewed by detectives, and whether she will be charged will be up to prosecutors, police said.
"She is extremely upset," said police Commander Marla Schuman. "She is very remorseful. In many ways it got bigger than she expected."
Police would not speculate on Storro's motives, only saying the August 30 incident did not occur as she described and that there were discrepancies in her account, including wearing sunglasses in the evening.
They also had questions about the liquid's splash patterns on Storro's face.
Officers acquired a search warrant and conducted a search Thursday morning. They removed several undisclosed items, but said they did not find a substance that might have caused her injuries.
Vancouver had searched for an assailant, described as an African-American woman with an athletic build and slicked-back hair pulled into a pony tail.
Storro was released from an Oregon hospital on September 5 after undergoing surgery for her injuries after the alleged attack.
Police spent hundreds of hours on the case and the community came together to offer donations for Storro's treatment.
"It has had an impact on our community," said Police Chief Clifford Cook. "It has brought negative attention on our community that is undeserved."
Storro's family was also being interviewed, police said. They described her as being in a fragile mental state.
Storro credited a new pair of sunglasses -- which she said she bought just 20 minutes before the attack -- with saving her eyesight.
"God is watching over me," Storro, of Vancouver, told CNN affiliate KATU in Portland, Oregon, at the time. "I believe in him. That his hands are on me and I can't live the rest of my life like that -- in fear. I can't let what she did to me wreck my life."
Storro told KATU that she had stopped at a Vancouver Starbucks about 7:15 p.m., just after she had gone back to buy a pair of sunglasses that she had seen earlier. The woman walked up to her and said, "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?"
When Storro declined, the woman threw the contents of the cup in her face and ran off, Storro claimed at the time.

Separatist leader calls for sit-ins at Indian posts across Kashmir

An Indian paramilitary soldiers stands guard in a curfew bound street in Srinagar on Thursday.
Srinagar, India (CNN) -- Amid a wave of unrest, a top separatist leader Thursday called for sit-ins outside Indian army garrisons across the Himalayan region of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, anti-India protesters continued to defy round-the-clock curfews imposed by the Indian government. Eight people were injured in clashes between stone-pelting mobs and Indian security forces in the town of Sopore in north Kashmir on Thursday.
The protests, which began last June, have claimed 91 lives and left hundreds wounded.
"Peaceful sit-ins should be held outside the army camps to remind the troopers that they should stop human rights violations and leave Kashmir," separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani told reporters at his home in Srinagar on Thursday.
"Elders will handover letters to the army officers in various camps and remind them that they should leave the valley," Geelani said, referring to the Kashmir Valley, a predominantly Muslim region in India's Jammu and Kashmir state.
An Indian defense spokesman urged Kashmiris to avoid confrontation.
"The separatists are indeed misleading the ordinary masses and trying to create a wedge between the army and the people for its vested interests," Lt. Col. J.S. Brar said at a news conference. "This is a deliberate attempt to embroil the army in the ongoing agitation and distract it from its primary role."
Also Thursday, nine militants were killed in gunfights with Indian security forces in the town of Tral and in the frontier area of Gurez, Brar said.
An armed Kashmiri insurgency that erupted against Indian rule in 1989 had subsided in recent years, making this summer's violence the worst in a decade.

"I didn't expect to go as far as I did!" the Weight Watchers spokesperson told PEOPLE in New York City, where she launched the Lose for Good campaign, which teaches families how to prepare healthy low-cost meals in an effort to help fight hunger and obesity.
"People are like, 'Okay Jennifer don't lose anything else!'" Hudson, who marked her 29th birthday on September 12, still hasn't gotten used to seeing her slimmer reflection in the mirror.
"I go into the store and they try to put me in 4s and 6s and I'm like [she looks over both shoulders] 'Who are you trying to talk to?'" says the former size 16 star. "My mind hasn't caught up yet." But no matter what, "I've always been a person who's comfortable with myself whether it's plus-size, small size it doesn't matter," says Hudson.

Jothegaara - Movie Review
Thursday, September 16, 2010, 10:10 [IST]
By: Shekhar H Hooli
Producer Ashwini Ram Prasad has finally released his much-awaited movie Jothegaara after long delay for two years. Jothe Jotheyali combo Prem and Ramya have made their comeback to screen with his film. Despite having a thin storyline, director Sigamani is successful in making it a good family entertainer
.
Jothegaara is a love story and the misunderstandings between the hero and heroine lead to lots confusions. Although the film has a simple storyline, the director has tried to make it an interesting watch with lots of twists and turns in the story. But it seems that too many twists drag the story and test the patience of the audience.
The highlights of the film are Prem-Ramya’s onscreen chemistry, Sujith Shetty's music, Doddanna and Sadhu Kokila’s comedy sequences, N Raghav’s cinematography. The weakness of the film is stretched narration. The beginning of the film is quiet interesting, but very soon it turns to be dragging. However, the second half makes the audience tighten their seat belts.
Vishwas (Prem Kumar) falls in love with Priya (Ramya), who is the daughter of police officer Veerabhadra (Ashish Vidyarthi). Priya’s father wants his daughter to marry his sister’s son. So he tries to dissuade her when he comes to know about her love affair with Vishwas. What kind of tricks Vishwas plays to win the heart of her father will form the interesting story of the film.
Actor Prem Kumar has delivered wonderful performance. Especially in the sentimental sequences, he carries away the mind and heart of the audience. As Priya, Ramya has done a good job and she appears very glamorous in the song sequences. Doddanna and Sadhu Kokila’s comedy is an interesting part of the film. As a police officer, Ashish Vidyarthi has also done well.
Sujith Shetty’s music is one among the main highlights of the film. He has composed six songs and all of them are beautiful. Songs like 'Jotheyalli Nee Baaro...' and 'Sona Kannalle Koltaale...' have already become popular. N Raghav has done well as a cameraman. But the movie could have been even better, if little more editing work was done.
Overall, Jothegaara is a decent family entertainer, which can be watched and enjoyed once.
Cast : Kokila Sadhu, Doddanna, Ashish Vidyarthi and others.
Director: Sigamani
Producer : Ashwini Ramprasad
Music : Sujeet Shetty
Lyrics : Jayanth Kaikini, Jamakhandi Shivu and Kaviraj.

Richa Gangopadhyay decides to dub own voice!
Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 15:40 [IST]
Sampurn Wire
Actress Richa Gangopadhyay is perhaps one of the few actresses, who is striving for perfection. The actress, who is filming Venkatesh starrer Nagavalli, has decided to dub her own voice in Telugu.
It is well known that recent breed of Telugu actresses rarely dub for themselves. Even during the press conferences they say few words in Telugu and then start off in fluent English. Sometimes, the same dubbing artist dubs for the actresses like Trisha, Ileana, Kajal Aggarwal etc. The lack of originality in the actress’s voice often results in low impact.
It is good to see that even the non-Telugu speaking actresses are making an effort to learn the sweet language to dub for themselves. This goes on to show, that acting is not about having the best figure in the business, it has got more to do with hard work and diligence. We hope native Telugu speaking actresses take a cue from Richa and start dubbing for themselves.

The first things that strike you about the 75-year old doyen of Telugu cinema D Ramanaidu are his passion for cinema, his humility and practicality.
He is quite thrilled for having won the highest honour Dadasaheb Phalke from the Indian government for cultural activity.
Says Ramanaidu, “I’m the first Telugu filmmaker to win the Dadasaheb in 20 years. So when I heard about it I was naturally elated. But there are no fullstops in my career. I’ve produced over 130 films in 12 languages. Now I’m producing a film in Punjabi for the first time.”
As excited as a schoolboy about film production, Ramanaidu, who started producing films in 1963 is realistic enough to see how much the film market has slumped. He admits he hasn’t produced a film in Hindi for quite a while because of the slump. The softspoken movie baron candidly admits, “Earlier I used to remake my Telugu hits into Hindi. But none of my Telugu films have done well recently. I’ve recently been busy producing Gujarati and Bhojpuri films. But now I will definitely produce another Hindi film very soon.”
Ramanaidu says he keeps up with changing trends in world cinema through his children. “My son and now my grandsons have joined me. We are family completely consumed by cinema
. We virtually live for cinema. I’ve been witness to many changing trends in moviemaking. Our production house keeps abreast of these changes.”
For this diehard filmmaker movie-making is the only option. “I’ll never retire. If I don’t make movies I wouldn’t know what to do.”
