The Darkest Hour Continues Production
September 15th, 2010
New Regency and Summit Entertainment have started production again on the action-thriller The Darkest Hour in Moscow, which had to suspend filming for six weeks due to a wildfire in Central Russia.
According to Variety, the delay won't affect plans to release the film in the United States on Aug. 5.
Production began on July 18, but was suspended after three weeks due to the wild fires in Central Russia, which led to thick smoke shrouding Moscow and making filming in the city impossible.
Chris Gorak is directing from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, based on the script by Leslie Bohem & M.T. Ahern.
The Darkest Hour centers on five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The project marks the first American 3D production to film in Russia with locations including Red Square, GUM Department Store, the Lenin Library and Square and the Academy of Science Plaza.
The Darkest Hour comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachael Taylor, Joel Kinnaman, Max Minghella. The film is directed by Chris Gorak.
