The Story: 24 HOURS is an upcoming thriller movie in Malayalam. Adithya Sam, a debutant director is the director of the film and also does the script. The movie is about two people while one wants to kill, the other escapes from getting killed and it all happens in a period of 24 hours. When Jagan was sitting in a bar, an altercation led to the death of a man. He was brother of a goonda named Ithar. It was during this time Jagan met Gowri.

Balaraman is a man with haunting past and he is living to complete his revenge. Scripted by S Sureshbabu, Shikkar is expected to be an Onam release.

The biggest trend change is that, the movie has a story and a message. The director had a good job through out the movie.Still couldn’t understand why there is a role for Sooraj Venjarammodu.Could understood the role of Jagathy and through this character the story could lead to the ending.Mohanlal did the job very well and the songs are apt to the story. Lalu Alex, Kalabavan Mony etc had done a good job.Very limited role for Sneha and her presence was there through out the movie.
The story os all about a man with haunting past and he is living with a hidden past.In the last there is a good message to the public and the authorities. the story matches with the current issue of the country.The art direction and cinematography should get a good applause because as a viewer, I could enjoy the hilly area greenary and the beauty. Surely the movie a good entertainer and worth watching. Also it would compete with Mammootty’s Pranjiyettan. I am waiting for the movie to come to the city theatre because I am expecting something from Renjith & Mammooty team

The Story: Waiting for Superman is a 2010 family documentary film from director Davis Guggenheim and producer Lesley Chilcott The film analyzes the failures of American public education by following several students through the educational system. Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim says that “Waiting for ‘Superman’,” his documentary about the failures of the American school system that opens in theaters today, was “absolutely the hardest movie [he's] ever directed — emotionally, logistically, and creatively.” And that says quite a bit, considering that his last non-fiction film, the Oscar-winning “An Inconvenient Truth,” was about global warming and centered around a slideshow presented by Nobel laureate Al Gore.
“Everything in education is so loaded; I’ve never experienced this in any other subject,” Guggenheim said in an interview. “Global warning was loaded, but this is so so loaded. The issue has so many elements, from charters and vouchers to funding. There are so many wormholes and politically-charged issues. It took [producer] Lesley [Chilcott] and I a while to figure out how to narrow down our focus.”
Edited down from “hundreds of hundreds” of hours of footage from 70 days of shooting, “Waiting for ‘Superman’” follows five children — Anthony in Washington, D.C., Bianca in Harlem, Daisy from East Los Angeles, Emily in Silicon Valley, and Francisco in the Bronx — as each student is entered into local charter-school lotteries to avoid going to overcrowded public schools with lower success metrics. Speakeasy spoke with Guggenheim and Chilcott about their film. Director Davis Guggenheim talks about his latest documentary, “Waiting for Superman,” which takes a creative look at problems in the education system. The film follows five kids and their parents, examining how the system inhibits rather than encourages academic progress. An earlier documentary short about teachers, called “Teach,” was the first film Guggenheim took to Sundance. Guggenheim describes what has changed in his life to make him revisit the school system and how he wanted to tell the story of a much-discussed problem by using humor and suspense to engage audiences about the issue in a way they have never seen before. He explains why he chose the five students featured in the documentary and his sense of responsibility to accurately share their stories while also tackling the nuances of a complicated education structure. Guggenheim also recounts the moment he learned “Waiting for Superman” had been picked up for distribution by Paramount and his faith in the distributors’ desire to genuinely impact the issues in the film.
Waiting for Superman Movie Review: For a nation that proudly declared it would leave no child behind, America continues to do so at alarming rates. Despite increased spending and politicians’ promises, our buckling public-education system, once the best in the world, routinely forsakes the education of millions of children.
Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim reminds us that education “statistics” have names: Anthony, Francisco, Bianca, Daisy, and Emily, whose stories make up the engrossing foundation of WAITING FOR SUPERMAN. As he follows a handful of promising kids through a system that inhibits, rather than encourages, academic growth, Guggenheim undertakes an exhaustive review of public education, surveying “drop-out factories” and “academic sinkholes,” methodically dissecting the system and its seemingly intractable problems.
However, embracing the belief that good teachers make good schools, and ultimately questioning the role of unions in maintaining the status quo, Guggenheim offers hope by exploring innovative approaches taken by education reformers and charter schools that have—in reshaping the culture—refused to leave their students behind.In the wake of D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty’s loss to Vincent Gray last night, many of Washington’s political and media elite turned out for the red-carpet premiere of Waiting for Superman, a much-hyped documentary about education reform in America. It was interesting timing, to say the least: One of the film’s big stars is Michelle Rhee. The movie depicts her as a savior of schools and someone willing to make tough decisions others have bypassed. But, as I wrote earlier today, it’s not clear whether Rhee will have her job as chancellor of D.C. Public Schools for much longer—in large part thanks to her take-no-prisoners leadership style that the movie praises.
What does this all mean not only for Washington’s schools but also for Waiting for Superman, a film that its creators hope will spark a national wave of more Rhee-style reforms? I put the question to Davis Guggenheim, the movie’s director (who also directed An Inconvenient Truth). Though he wouldn’t wade into Beltway gossip, Guggenheim issued strong support for Rhee.
I know better than to speculate in city politics. … I can tell you this: I spent a lot of in these schools in D.C.m and I met principals, and I met teachers, and I met kids. And this city needs reform. The stakes are really high, and they need someone like Michelle Rhee to reform these schools and to continue with the progress. [In] Washington, even though the mayor changes, the kids stay here. D.C. can’t go backward.
As for whether the loss of Rhee in D.C. could change his film’s impact, making it something of a cautionary tale about the trials and consequences of pushing controversial school reforms, Guggenheim said he is optimistic that won’t be the case:
I think all of the frenzy over this [movie] is showing that people are paying attention and the stakes are really high. Over a million kids are dropping out of schools every year … [and are] walking the streets in this modern economy. We are failing millions of kids. Make no mistake, when people are doing all this political speculation—that’s a game.
The movie’s producer, Lesley Chilcott, hinted that, even if Rhee gets the boot or chooses to leave Washington, her legacy could remain intact—in D.C. and more widely:
Overwhelmingly, whether you agree with how it was done, the results can’t be disputed. I hope it’s inspirational to other leaders. And I think that some of the reforms that she put in place are the exact same reforms that are being put in place in Denver and other places. I don’t think it’s the end of an era. I think it’s the beginning of all of this massive change that we so desperately need.
Maybe this is all wishful thinking. We’ll have to wait for Rhee and Vincent Gray to make their decisions, and for Waiting for Superman to open later this month, before we can really know.

The Story: Howl the film consists of three interwoven aspects: the early life of Ginsberg (Franco) in New York City and his evolution as a writer and poet; an animated re-imagining of the poem “Howl”; and the obscenity trial San Francisco poet and City Lights Bookstore co-founder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti (Andrew Rogers), faced after publishing the titular poem, in which Ginsberg made references to drug use and homosexuality (the latter of which in the 1950s was still considered taboo). “Sir, you cannot translate poetry into prose,” remarks academic Mark Schorer (Treat Williams) during a section of Howl covering the 1957 obscenity trial surrounding Allen Ginsberg’s eponymous poem. “That’s why it is poetry.” Schorer is commenting upon the prosecutorial style of San Francisco attorney Ralph McIntosh (David Strathairn), whose case against the controversial piece involved asking “expert witnesses” to concretely define the various sexual allusions and lyrical abstractions that Ginsberg liberally sprinkled throughout his masterwork. However, he could very well be referring to the plight of writer-directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, whose film attempts to tease out the legal, social, and biographical significance of Ginsberg’s groundbreaking generational ode without explaining away its propulsive, elusive essence. Documentarians whose previous films chronicled such LGBT topics as queer representation in American cinema (The Celluloid Closet) and the persecution of gay men in Nazi Germany (Paragraph 175), Epstein and Friedman have publicly stated their desire to forego in Howl the talking-heads-and-archival-footage approach in favor of something more diffuse and allusive. This turns out to be a triptych structure, which interweaves a re-enactment of the 1957 obscenity trial; an imagined interview with Ginsberg (James Franco) occurring at roughly the same historic moment as the trial, accompanied by brief flashbacks to Ginsberg’s younger self; and a recreation of Ginsberg’s original reading of “Howl” at San Francisco’s Six Gallery on October 7, 1955. As Ginsberg recites the poem onstage, surrealistic animated interludes illustrate its images and ideas.
It’s a noble effort, but all the well-intentioned narrative curlicues in the world cannot obscure the conceptual dullness at Howl’s center. For what does this refracted take reveal to us about “Howl”? Well, that its author fits snugly into a long cinematic lineage of scruffy yet photogenic outsiders, all of whom spin personal suffering into artistic gold. Young people and liberal-leaning academics tend to “get” form-pushing literary works, while stodgy old folks scowl and raise an eyebrow. Oh, and censorship: definitely not a good thing. It’s San Francisco in 1957, and an American masterpiece is put on trial. HOWL, the film, recounts this dark moment using three interwoven threads: the tumultuous life events that led a young Allen Ginsberg to find his true voice as an artist, society’s reaction (the obscenity trial), and mind-expanding animation that echoes the startling originality of the poem itself. All three coalesce in a genre-bending hybrid that brilliantly captures a pivotal moment—the birth of a counterculture. Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman navigate a seamless segue from their documentary roots to masterful storytellers. They expand the notion of how a “true story” can be realized on film by not simply relying on facts but enlisting cinematic vision to capture the Zeitgeist of an era. The amazing cast provides the extra passion and urgency that are sure to introduce HOWL to the best minds of a new generation. Complicating matters further, writer-directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman envisioned something far beyond a standard narrative retelling; they wanted a piece with a number of different layers.
James Franco portrays Ginsberg in three elements of the film – during the first public reading of “Howl,” during an interview, and while recreating moments in Ginsberg’s life. Then there’s the animation of the poem itself as well as a star-studded depiction of the 1957 obscenity trial.

Nevertheless, with their new film Howl, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have managed to do just that—forging a highly original solution to the thorny problems inherent in the task. The approach they take is at once minimal and maximal, stretching far beyond the directors’ documentary roots. (They are perhaps best known for their 1995 collaboration The Celluloid Closet; Epstein won an Academy Award in 1985 for his direction of The Times of Harvey Milk.) To borrow another of Ginsberg’s titles, I can only think of Howl the movie as a “reality sandwich”: Words are the reality, lifted from interviews with Ginsberg and from the transcripts of the San Francisco court, combined in a multilevel form that suggests an extravagant club sandwich, stuffed with dramatic reenactments and scenes from the life, and heavily flavored with documentary sauce (not to mention an extravagant dollop of fantasy animation). Even the (few) minimal sets are precise re-creations, right down to the postcards of Baudelaire and Poe on Ginsberg’s refrigerator and the Dinah Washington record (Dinah Jams) sticking out of a box in his living room.
The sandwich’s first layer is a reenactment by actor James Franco of Ginsberg’s legendary reading of “Howl” at San Francisco’s Six Gallery on October 7, 1955, with such Beat icons as Ferlinghetti, Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady, and Peter Orlovsky in the audience. The second layer is a dramatization of Ginsberg (Franco) recording an interview with an unseen and unheard interviewer. The third layer, a reenactment of the 1957 obscenity trial, overtly connects the personal, the literary, and the political. The final layer, overlaid with Franco’s reading of “Howl,” is an extended animation sequence by graphic novelist and illustrator Eric Drooker.
In the material that constitutes the first two layers, Franco is the only person who speaks, portraying Ginsberg publicly, as a performer, and intimately, in his heymisher mensch mode. I was deeply skeptical of the decision to cast a heartthrob like Franco in the lead role, because it threatened to turn the film into yet another Hollywood version of the counterculture (though I’m sure Ginsberg creamed in his grave at the thought of looking like the General Hospital star, who has also played such gay icons as James Dean and Harvey Milk’s boyfriend). Incredibly, Franco both looks and sounds like Ginsberg. Not a matter of an elaborate makeover—a pair of heavy horn-rimmed black glasses and a beard do the trick. Franco inhabits Ginsberg so completely that even those who knew the poet well are taken aback by this remarkable performance. Plainly, Franco not only absorbed countless recordings of Ginsberg and studied archival footage—few people have been so abundantly documented as Ginsberg—but immersed himself in the poet’s spirit as well. The re-created reading at Six Gallery vividly calls up Ginsberg’s oracular presence. The heat of that electrifying event, immortalized by Kerouac in Dharma Bums as the “mad night,” was fueled not only by the words but by Ginsberg’s amazing delivery. His voice, deeply resonant and intensely passionate, could fill St. Mark’s Church or carry across an outdoor Be-In. Whether reciting poetry, singing along with a harmonium, or chanting om, Ginsberg exuded a charisma as vast as Walt Whitman’s America. Franco uncannily channels that energy.
The reality sandwich’s second layer—the interview—captures Ginsberg’s extraordinary candor and sociability. Like countless others, I experienced these qualities firsthand, when I met him in 1994. I introduced myself as a writer working on a book about the Beat Generation and organizing an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC (“Rebels: Painters and Poets of the 1950s”). I expected Ginsberg to grant me about fifteen minutes of his time; he generously gave me two hours. He wasn’t much interested in the book but he was highly enthusiastic about the show. He rambled around his scruffy three-room apartment at 437 East Twelfth Street, pulling down books, showing me photographs, and finally sitting me down at his kitchen table with his address book: “Take whatever you need.” He wasn’t pushing his own photographs but the work of his friends. He was the Grand Central of the counterculture, and his address book was the richest data bank imaginable. At his memorial, the poet Andy Clausen remarked that Ginsberg had more friends than anyone in history. That claim may not be as hyperbolic as it sounds. His nonchalant immediacy made people he had just met feel they were dear friends of his. I felt it within minutes of our meeting. Ginsberg’s genius for friendship and intimacy is evoked perfectly in the film. Franco, Ã la Ginsberg, speaks candidly without indulging in self-revelation, without playing “gay” or “Jewish.” For that period—the middle of the Eisenhower years—Ginsberg said things that were controversial in the extreme. However, such remarks were made as casually as his statement that he smoked marijuana about as often as he went to the movies. Personal openness that is not self-serving creates friendship.
The film’s trial scenes make up its factual core, and all of the dialogue in these segments is based on court transcripts. Unlike the average courtroom drama, Howl contains no dramatic Perry Mason reversals, no smoking gun, and the case isn’t cheapened by making certain figures cartoonish prudes and others noble defenders of freedom. (One reservation I do have, though, is that, while the film’s cast is universally excellent, the several famous actors who appear in court interfere in a way that I didn’t experience seeing Franco playing Ginsberg. Perhaps the problem is that their roles are essentially cameos—Oh, there’s Jeff Daniels! There’s Don Draper—I mean, Jon Hamm! There’s Mary-Louise Parker!) Although we already know the outcome of the trial—Ferlinghetti was found innocent and Howl & Other Poems went on to sell more than eight hundred thousand copies during Ginsberg’s lifetime—these courtroom scenes are a fascinating reminder of the limits imposed on literary expression in 1957. In 2010, when unblinking pornography is everywhere available on the Internet, it may seem astonishing that one of the most legally contentious lines at stake in the People v. You Again Movie Review: Sigourney Weaver, for example, can be a deft, loose-limbed comedian if a movie gives her something to do. “You Again” doesn’t. It also reduces Jamie Lee Curtis to a matronly moron, Kristin Chenoweth to a screeching caricature and Victor Garber to window dressing. Oh, and Betty White is dragged in to play a spunky grandmother because — well, it’s the law. Any comedy with a spunky grandmother has to hire Betty White.“You Again” wastes these people because it concentrates all its attention on the relentlessly one-note Kristen Bell as the annoying yet meant-to-be ingratiating heroine. Once, you see, she was an ugly duckling, a high school nerd and bullies’ bull’s-eye — until, she tells us, she learned to “believe in herself,” ditched the bangs and got a job as a celebrity publicist. True personal growth — it’s as close as Supercuts. Alas, once Bell returns home for her brother’s wedding, she discovers he’s marrying the chief mean girl from senior year! Meanwhile, the girl’s aunt turns out to be Bell’s mom’s own bête noire! And as for Grandma . . .
Oh, who cares? So why does the movie get even one star? Well, because of Kyle Bornheimer, a character actor who has the part of the mean girl’s ex-boyfriend. He finds funny ways to say lines that aren’t particularly funny; he invests hackneyed scenes with real emotion. If there are any smiles in the movie, they’re due to him. They’re not due, sadly, to Curtis, who — game as ever — does high kicks, pratfalls and other stunts. At one point she even takes apart the plumbing, going through all the mess in hopes of finding one tiny, mislaid valuable.
Perhaps she should have asked Bornheimer for pointers.Cute people getting mired in a cute situation? Good. Cute situation getting mired in unimaginative slapstick? Not so much. This is yet another one of those movies about characters who have clearly never watched a romantic comedy. If they had, they would know that: trying to break up a loved one’s wedding two days before it is scheduled is not a great idea (“My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Made of Honor,” etc.). You only embarrass yourself by showing embarrassing footage of the bride at the rehearsal dinner (“27 Dresses”). Wandering off by yourself on a visit to the prospective in-laws often results in getting wet and ruining property (“Father of the Bride”). Taking a wedding-related movie down to a PG instead of a PG-13 is usually a sign that the studio does not have much confidence in it (“Bride Wars”) because the script is weak. The characters in this movie are the only ones on earth who haven’t been there, seen that.
It is a cute situation. Marni (Kristen with an “e” Bell) is a smooth, capable, professional woman who is proud of triumphing over her teenage years as an ugly duckling, constantly abused by the mean girls led by head cheerleader J.J. (Odette Yustman). Her comfort during those years was her golden boy brother Will. Now Will is getting married to none other than Joanna, formerly known as J.J. The calm, professional Marni instantly reverts to a cowering mess, and then things really get complicated. It turns out Joanna’s only family is her aunt Mona (Sigourney Weaver), who is none other than the former BFF-turned WFF of Gail (Jamie Leigh Curtis), mother of the groom — and of course of Marni as well. Add to the mix a wedding planner (Kristin with an “i” Chenoweth), the bride’s ex-beau, a wise-cracking granny (Betty White, of course), a dance-off, a fluffy dog, and a dad who eats his meals blindfolded (okay, that one I didn’t see coming), and you have pieces that never quite work.
Just to see the glass as half-full for a moment, I’ll point out that this movie does not have a big but highly touchy client who gets caught up in the chaos or a child to spout out-of-the-mouths-of-babes wisdom. There are no funny clergy. There are a couple of genuinely welcome surprise cameos. Weaver and Curtis do their best to elevate the material and sometimes succeed. On the glass half-empty side, there is an icky dentures joke. Serious injuries are dismissed as blithely as are serious infractions of trust and good judgment. It is under-written, running out of steam — and ideas — long before it is over. Ultimately, there’s too much com and not enough rom. Parents should know that there is some mild language and a lot of slapstick violence with broken bones and alcohol consumption.

Years later Marni is shocked to discover that Joanna is marrying Marni’s brother, Will (James Wolk). Everyone loves Joanna, including the mother of the groom, Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis), who tells Marni that the past is the past. But no sooner does she finish that line than the doorbell rings and in walks Joanna’s Aunt Mona (Sigourney Weaver), Gail’s former best frenemy from the same high-school that Marni and Joanna attended.This is another miserable movie about women at war over nonsense. The inexplicable handheld camerawork gives you that “Saw IV’’ feeling. But lest we think “You Again’’ is a horror film, there’s a ubiquitous, sickeningly sweet score; it’s like toilet paper on the shoe of every scene. The entire cast has been encouraged to shout or pop their eyes or kick really high. We’re in the presence of former cheerleaders. Accordingly, the director Andy Fickman’s instruction to his cast appears to have been, “Pretend you’re at the Fiesta Bowl!’’
Highlights of the movie’s wedding weekend include a dance fight, a plate fight, and a pool fight. When one set of enemies manages to bury the hatchet, it’s with each woman slumped in front of an open refrigerator. Mascara stains the face. Cheese is sprayed onto an Oreo cookie. (That’s two apt metaphors for this movie.) At some point the word “culinary’’ is pronounced “killonary,’’ and the opening jags of Heart’s “Barracuda’’ are misapprehended for the purposes of conjuring cattiness.
There can be amusement in junk about women who set out to conquer each other over past humiliations, often, if not quite always, regarding a man: “The First Wives Club,’’ “Death Becomes Her,’’ “Drop Dead Gorgeous,’’ “Notes on a Scandal.’’ “You Again,’’ like last year’s “Bride Wars,’’ is an especially atrocious exception. The movie doesn’t hate women as much as it hates comedy. Fickman and the screenwriter Moe Jelline were never going for realism. But what precisely were they going for? It’s hard to think of a network that would pick up a half-hour version of this. Only by accident do the filmmakers wind up with farce. There’s really nowhere else for a badly made movie to go....
