Clash of the Titans Preview: Whoa! Here’s the second (but first full) trailer for Louis Leterrier’s “Clash of the Titans” that goes the same pulse-pounding music route as the teaser but packs on the action something fierce for a full two minutes. This is apparently not an official trailer release, so the studio is pulling them pretty fast over on YouTube and elsewhere, but I did find a couple of versions that were still online. Inside, there is an article on the movie and interview with the star, in which Worthington proclaims, “we’re not in fuckin’ Harryhausen mode anymore”, which, er, is definitely going to rub some Ray Harryhausen fans the wrong way. Shaapit Movie Synopsis: When Aman (Aditya Narayan) proposes to Kaaya(Shweta Agarwal), neither does he nor Kaaya know about the generational curse that plagues Kaaya's family. As soon as Kaaya wears the engagement ring and the couple drives off together, their car takes a spin and bounces of the road almost killing the both of them. When Kaaya's parents hear about their daughter's accident, they rush to the hospital to find an engagement ring on their daughter's finger. Distraught, the father explains to the young couple that three hundred years back their family had incurred the curse of an angry Brahmin and that curse did not allow the daughter's of their family to be married. The couple finds it hard to believe but there is little choice as their lives are constantly in danger. Aman and Kaaya cannot live without each other, but there is little that they can do till Aman meets Pashupathi who is the master of the ways of the spiritual world. Pashupathi tells Aman that in some cultures, there was a belief that a generational curse worked much after even the person who had uttered the curse was dead because, it was believed, that an evil curse when uttered stuck to an evil spirit and the spirit then became the keeper of the curse and it was the duty of that evil spirit to make the curse come true generation after generation. Aman asks Pashupathi if there was a way to destroy the spirit and get rid of the curse. Pashupathi tells him that there was a way but it was filled with peril. If he sets about to hunt and destroy a spirit then the spirit would also know that it was being hunted. It would become a war between man and the devil. Was he ready for it? Aman tells Pashupathi that he would fight for his love... and so begins their journey. Through the world of fear and intrigue and the eternal fight between good and evil. Will love conquer all?

The Tournament Movie Reviews: In The Tournament, a shoot’em up game that tests the skills of deadly assassins against one another in real time, it's all about the carnage. Just think: A gorier mash up between Battle Royale, Smokin' Aces, The Running Man, and a SyFy Channel MOW and you've just about got it. The movie starts with a splash as the returning champion killer Hawlow (Ving Rhames) slays the first of his competition in a crimson tide that's wet enough to rival the famous elevator scene in The Shining. The Tournament hits the ground running from there, truly living up to its "non-stop action" premise (the only other two recently-released movies I can think of to top it in that arena would be the Crank films and the absolutely awesome Shoot'Em Up). Director Scott Mann is smart to keep audiences head-spinningly breathless, because there are unforgivable logic lapses and plot holes big enough to run 10 battering rams through. Basically, it's a race against time in this the high-stakes contest to see who is the last gun-toter left standing. Each coldblooded killer has a tracking device surgically implanted to track their whereabouts and to coincide with the cameras strategically placed around the playing field so the game can be viewed by the sponsors and bettors all over the world. MC Powers (Liam Cunningham) tries to keep everything together from his ivory tower as the assassins' own personal agenda start to corrupt the game… Turns out Harlow is out for more than a clean kill when it comes to one of his opponents: Lai Lai Zhen (Kelly Hu) murdered his wife and it's payback time. Meanwhile Zhen has her hands full with a drunken Catholic priest (Robert Carlyle) who accidentally ingested one of the tracking devices and has found himself trapped in the game. On top of that, there are several other contestants who are just plain insane. Ian Somerhalder is particularly good as a completely ruthless and psychotic Texan, as is the devious Frenchman played by Sebastian Foucan. The Tournament is definitely no great shakes in the plotting and scripting departments (and please… don't cue the cheesy music for the dead-wife flashback scenes!), however, it is exceedingly gory, brutal, violent and over-the-top. It is what it is.

City Of Gold Movie News: Mumbai, Feb 17 (IANS) Mahesh Manjrekar, who returns to direction with the "City Of Gold", says a film cannot be made without money therefore its box office performance is vital for its maker. Box-office satisfaction always comes first. If I do three films for creative satisfaction and my producer bears loss then no producer will ever stand by me," Manjrekar told reporters Wednesday after the first look of "City of Gold" was unveiled. Films cannot be made without money. I tried making films without money, but it's impossible. You can even make a film without camera, but not without money. So commercial success of the film is very important," he added. The actor-director, whose last film was "Deha", says he quit direction because he was unable to understand the grammar of song and dance movies. Four years ago, the kind of films people wanted me to do, I was incapable of making such films. I lack the intelligence to do song and dance films. So I took a break and ventured into acting," Manjrekar said. He feels that over the years the taste of viewers has changed and they are now open to different kind of cinema. Actually, the time has come when people are open to a different kind of cinema. Ten years back, it was beyond anyone's imagination to make a film like 'A Wednesday' or 'Taare Zameen Par' and get a producer for them," he said. But I was writing films with a hope that time will come when people will accept my type of film. Music Review: The soundtrack of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, which stars Ajay Devgn and Konkana Sen Sharma, sounds more like a devotional album with three of the five songs being in praise of the almighty. The album contains five originals and one remix. Aaja aaja crooned by Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingran and Rajneesh, is an amalgamation of folk influences with western orchestration. The fast-paced number is more of a situational track than something that can be hummed. The song also has a re-mixed version, which offers nothing great and is average. Next is the title track of the film, where Amit Mishra steps in as composer and singer. This is the song currently doing the rounds of various TV channels. Trying to be funny with its lyrics and the way the vocals are presented, the song is a one-time hear. It's an ordinary number with no retention value. Up next is Dohay. Sung by Amit Mishra again, it is a soft version of poems and couplets written by well-known poets. Then there is Jyoti jalaile, a devotional version of the hit item song Beedi jalaile from the film Omkara. This version too is sung by Sukhwinder Singh. The song is sung in praise of goddess Durga. Finally, we have another religious offering in the guise of Sukh Karta, an offering to Lord Ganesh. This one too has Amit Mishra behind the mike. On the whole, there is nothing much for music buffs in the album. The soundtrack is situational and will not boast of any chartbusters. The songs are very unlike those created by Pritam earlier.
