True Legend Chinese Movie Synopsis:

So Chan
(Vincent Chiu) was a wealthy man obsessed with kung-fu who fell from grace after he and his family became the victims of conspiracies. Eventually, he rises from his compromised state as a beggar and transforms himself into a martial arts master, patriot and folk hero, honoured as the "King of Beggars".
A new trailer chock full of fights (but short on plot and dialogue, which is not necessarily a bad thing) and two short but very cool TV spots for action master Yuen Woo-ping’s return to directing in the martial arts/fantasy movie “True Legend” have shown up online. If you absolutely need a plot for this thing, you can find that below. It also looks like the film has been pushed back to 2010.

True Legend Chinese Movie Reviews:

From China comes True Legend

(aka Su Qi-Er), the latest martial arts epic from Yuen Woo-Ping, the fight choreographer on all three Matrix movies and Kill Bill. The film stars Michelle Yeoh (who you'll recognize from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Man Cheuk Chiu as the lead. IMDb lists David Carradine as part of the cast as well as Jay Chou, who is playing Kato in The Green Hornet, as the "God of Martial Arts." It's a tale, kind of like Gladiator, about a wealthy man who loses everything and becomes a true legend, a "King of Beggars." The fights in this look awesome and it reminds me a lot of Jet Li's Fearless. Check it out!
Su Qi-Er (Man Cheuk Chiu) is a wealthy man living during the Qing Dynasty who loses his fortune and reputation as a result of a conspiracy against him. After being forced out onto the streets, Su dedicates his life to martial arts and reemerges as a patriotic hero known as the "King of Beggars." Sounds pretty good?
True Legend is directed by Chinese filmmaker and legendary martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping, who has directed numerous films including Iron Monkey, Fist of the Red Dragon, and The Red Wolf. The screenplay was written by To Chi-Long, of Blood Brothers, Jet Li's Fearless, and Murderer previously. This does not have a US release date yet, although it was produced by Focus Features, so stay tuned for updates! Watch the first trailer for Yuen Woo-Ping's True Legend:
