After the success of his films Heyy Babyy and Housefull, Sajid Khan has become one of the most sought after filmmakers in Bollywood.
So, when we spoke to him, it wasn't a surprise that he was in the middle of his busy schedule, as he is preparing for his next ventures (you heard it right, it's not 'venture', but 'ventures'!). Speaking about his future projects, Sajid says, "I am doing two films, but not simultaneously. The script of the film that I am doing for Vashu Bhagnani is almost ready. It's basically an action revenge drama and not a comedy. It's a proper 'entertainer', the way I would like to call it as." And when we asked him about the much talked about news of Ranbir Kapoor playing the lead in the film, Sajid simply denied the news.
Talking about his second project, Sajid said, "My second project is for Sajid Nadiadwala, which is on the lines of Housefull. It's got a similar cast, same nature and a big budget. Since we are presently working on the script, there's nothing that I can speak about it now. I will be in a position to speak only when I have the full script in hand. All that I can tell you is that we still have to finalize the subject." When asked about the presence of Akshay Kumar in this film, he said, "Whenever Sajid Nadiadwala and me make a film, it will never be without Akshay Kumar. This is something that goes without saying."
So is this film a sequel to Housefull? "Let us look at this way. If I have to make a film that's similar in nature (to Housefull), then, I will make it not just better than the original, but 10 times better! We all know for a fact that, a proper sequel ensures double profits at the box-office. For me, Lage Raho Munnabhai was a better sequel than the original, for the reason that they worked really hard on the script," states Sajid.
Readers may recall that the week gone by saw a very disheartened Sajid Khan on the sets of the reality show 'India's Got Talent: Khoj 2', because the team (Sanjay Mondal & Group from Kolkatta), which Sajid expected to win, didn't. Speaking about this, Sajid said, "I was very disheartened. We, as judges gave them (Sanjay Mondal & Group) the marks, but there are also the audience votes that need to be considered. I really felt sorry for this group, because they were not the regular children, whom we see everyday. They are someone, who are mostly rag pickers and can't afford the money to study. They don't have the kind of support system to get votes in their favour."
He continues, "Having said that, let me also add that I never took anything away from the people who won. What I had been regularly telling on the show was to vote for these kids, not on the basis of their talent, also because your votes could actually change their future forever!" And when asked if he plans to help the Sanjay Mondal & Group on a personal level, Sajid quickly replied, "If I ever do anything for anybody (on a personal level), I will never talk about it!"
Well, as they say, some questions are best left unanswered!
