Islamabad, Sep 14: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf will be launching his new political party, the All Pakistan Muslim League, in London on Oct 1, 2010.

The former military ruler's political journey will begin with a press conference in Britain's capital, Dawn reported quoting Musharraf's spokesperson Mohammad Saif.

67-year-old Musharraf had earlier announced his plans to return to Pakistan before the 2013 general elections.

Besides launching his new party, Musharaf will also be holding a show of power in Birmingham on Oct 3. Media reports said that he will address a public rally at the Oval Banqueting Suite in Birmingham's Sparkhill area.

This comes just two months after a man hurled his shoes at president Asif Ali Zardari during a rally in the British city with a large population of Pakistani origin.

Musharraf is understood to have chosen Birmingham for the meet as he enjoys a strong backing from Khalid Mahmood, a local Labour party MP.

With supporters of the former Pak president from Middle East, the US, Europe and Pakistan, including former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, expected to attend the meeting, Musharraf's aides have described the meeting as a demonstration of the support enjoyed by the new party among Pakistanis abroad.
