Children of Men's Hilary Shor to Produce Psychopomp
August 26th, 2010
Blake Leibel, one of the directors behind Spaceballs: The Animated Series, has sold his latest script Psychopomp to Children of Men producer Hilary Shor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence Longo will co-produce this project through Fantasy Prone as a transmedia intellectual property.
The story revolves around Psychopomp, a profanity spewing madman who travels in and out of international hot spots looking to kill anyone who goes against his personal code of conduct, often using state-of-the-art weaponry and the latest technology to take them down. The script is being called a cross between The Dark Knight and A Clockwork Orange.
Fantasy Prone is planning to launch a Psychopomp graphic novel before the release of the film, as well as run the property through various media platforms. About the script, Hilary Shor had this to say:
"This is the evil twin of the Children of Men future world Alfonso Cuarón created. A lot of material I'm best known for developing is 'weighty,' for lack of a better word, but this really appealed to me. It's the graphic novel world and something I've been interested in exploring."
Psychopomp comes to theaters in 2012.
