Rooney Mara (A Nightmare On Elm Street remake) plays Lisbeth Salander. Robin Wright is set to play the character Erika Berger who is the publisher of crusading finance magazine Millennium and also the occasional lover of journalist Mikael Blomkvist played by Daniel Craig. Also starring is Stellan Skarsgard as Martin Vanger, one of the principal suspects in the 40 year old disappearance of a teenage girl. And Max van Sydow as Henrik Vanger, the character who hires Mikael Blomkvist to investigate the disappearance of his favorite great-niece

Fincher insisted that this version’s story will still be set in Sweden and he even wanted his actors to practice Swedish accent. Although Sony is hoping Fincher will stick around to adapt all three books, Fincher said there’s no actual plan to necessarily continue past TATTOO at this point, because he’s just focusing on making this one movie that people would want to see the sequel to, nor there are plans to shoot all three films back-to-back, the movie is expected to be R-rated.

This Europe’s best-selling phenomenon was already adapted in Sweden by filmmakers Niels Arden Oplev and Daniel Alfredson, but Sony’s version is to stay faithful to the novels instead of straight up remaking the Danish-Swedish films…
Oscar winning producer Scott Rudin (No Country For Old Men) who secured the rights, is set to produce this project along with Ole Sondberg and Søren Stærmose of Swedish production company Yellow Bird Films with Mikael Wallen and Anni Fernandez as executive producers.

Oscar winning Steve Zaillian (Schindler’s List, American Gangster) is adapting the first book titled The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo.
The other two books are THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET’S NEST
