The three days extravaganza of 6th World Kannada Conference at New Jersey Edison Hall concluded on Sunday evening with a massive cultural evening of film songs and dance that was also interspersed with first AKKA (American Kannada Koota Association) Kannada Film awards.

Super power star Puneeth Rajakumar bagged the first AKKA award for his sterling performance in ‘Raam’ (a remake of Telugu film ‘Ready’ also starring Priyamani for the first time in Kannada) while the current sensation Aindrita Ray got the best actress for her performance in ‘Manasaare’ directed by Yogaraj Bhat.

Jaggesh was crowned the lifetime achievement award looked as if those who were present declared the awards. Noted director HR Bhargava was in USA – the director of 50 films in Kannada could have considered in that case.

Promising hero award went to Santosh but the film he acted ‘Nooru Janmaku’ failed miserably and he has a remote chance of securing the hero spot again.

Vijaya Raghavendra was invited to AKKA for cultural evening and so he got an award for one of his failure film ‘Mathe Bandha Ganesha’.

As a matter of fact there was no need to select super power star Puneeth Rajakumar for ‘Raam’ as it was a remake film.

The cultural evening was a treat to the huge attendance at the Edison center in New Jersey. The three days event concluded with some notable observations from Puneeth Rajakumar.

Puneeth Rajakumar assured for a healthy approach to widen the market of Kannada films in foreign countries. He took the responsibility of meeting KFCC members in this direction. Jaggesh in his address called for watching the films in theatres than DVD system of watching it.
