October 1st, 2010

Sony is focused on casting the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot's female lead, with Deadline New York reporting that Glee star Dianna Agron and Georgina Haig are among the top contenders to portray Gwen Stacy.

The site also reports that Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska and Dominique McElligott round out the top 5 contenders for the role in Marc Webb's upcoming reboot. We had previously reported that actresses Lily Collins and Teresa Palmer were once in consideration as well.

Our earlier report also indicated the possibility that Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson could both appear in the movie. The new Deadline New York story also indicated this may be a possible scenario, although the Gwen Stacy character would definitely be the female lead.

There is also an unconfirmed rumor that Sony is looking to bring Venom back as the villain, and that Sony is in discussions with Philip Seymour Hoffman for the role. It was said that the discussions for lead actress would likely be over shortly, so we'll continue to keep you posted with any further Untitled Spider-Man Reboot details as soon as we have them.

Untitled Spider-Man Reboot comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield. The film is directed by Marc Webb.
