The Story:
Nandhalala is the story of two people searching for their mother. Nandhalala is an expected film of director Mishkin. Mishkin is introduced as an actor in the film in which he plays the role of a mentally challenged man. This will be a different film from other two Mishkin films.Myshkin directed two awesome movies ‘Chiththiram Pesuthadi’ and ‘Anjathe’ before debuting as a actor in Nandalala. Illayaraja has scored the music score for this movie. Only Illayaraja can make the instruments talk .The focus is on melody and the songs seem to be more related to the serious theme of the story. The director has already admitted that the movie only features four songs.



The maestro has used the violin and guitar predominantly in this album. it is safe to say that no one can use the Violin better than him .Illayaraja has transformed his music to another level in this decade. He was getting fairly predictable in the late 90’s. There was lot of pressure for him to deliver and he was composing too many albums which had a bad influence on the quality. Now I think he does music in his own terms and the result is amazing.

Kaai Veesi (Vijay Jesudas, Suwedha, Madhubalakrishnan, Raagul, Chandrasekar)
A simple song sung by a talented bunch of young singers. The tune and rhythm of this song reminds us of Yuvan. Vijay and Madhu are really talented and even though this song does not give them the scope to really excel they have still given it their best. Look out for the nice change in pitch all through the song. The song is all about praising the wonders of nature.

Oru Vandu koottame (Illayaraja, Yatheeswaran )
This is another melodious song sung by the maestro himself. The song does not impress at the start with Yathesswaran but it soon gathers momentum. There is a very impressive violin interlude in the middle which is very typical of the genius. The song just gets better as it progresses.

Elilea Elilea (Saroja Ammal)
I could not really relate to the song . This could very well be a situational song.

Melle Oorndhu Oorndhu (Illayaraja)
If you are a fan of Illayaraja, this song will sweep you of your feet. I am not such a big fan of Illayaraja’s voice even though I adore his skill as a composer , this song seems to fit his voice to the bill. The song starts with a nice guitar piece with Illayaraja’s voice just flowing in.

Thalaattu ketka Nanum (Illayaraja)
A beautiful pathos song. Illayaraja has used the violin to express the anguish and sorrow of the character. This song is about a man singing about his mother and how much he misses her. The soul of the song is very similar to the song “Un Kuthama ” from Azahgi.

Onnukkonnu (K.J. Jesudas)
The best song of the album. The awesome Yesudas is back and renders the song so perfectly .It took me to the Moondram Pirai days . The singer does not seem to have aged at all. It is awesome that the father and son were given an opportunity to sing in the same movie.This song should be a chart buster. It will be impossible not to like this song.
A master piece by the maestro with haunting melodies. A must buy.

Nandhalala Movie Review:
Mysskin’s ‘Nandalala’ is one film eagerly awaited for long. The film which was to be released in 2009 is still under cover. Ayngaran which has produced the film had to delay the release of ‘Nandalala’ because it started ‘Endhiran’ and all its available resources were pooled for the bigger film. When they realized they could not hold on to the wild horse like ‘Endhiran’ they transferred the movie to a bigger name Sun Pictures.

Though the burden was reduced the financials were not transacted fully with Sun Pictures and so Ayngaran was still unable to activate the release of ‘Nandalala’. Now that ‘Endhiran’ is near its victory mark and financials between the two majors have been settled, Ayngaran is all set to release ‘Nandalala’ sooner than expected.

‘Nandalala’ is a film on fondness between a mentally retarded and a young boy who takes care of him. The film introduces director Mysskin as an actor. Master Ashwath Ram and Snigdha play the other principal roles. Maestro Illayaraja has scored the music and the songs are already a hit particularly the number 'Nenjil Oorndhu'.

But even before its official release, ‘Nandalala’ has generated enough buzz at various International Film Festivals already.Mysskin’s ‘Nandalala’ waiting for release since 2009 is still under cover inspite of having generated enough buzz at various International Film Festivals already.

Ayngaran International for which Arun Pandian is the chief producer has come out with good movies like Peranmai and Angaadi Theru in the recent times, So is Nandalala but the things were not the same as they had to delay the release of ‘Nandalala’ for no fault of it , to continue financing ‘Endhiran’ at the launch stages, and all its available resources were getting pooled into until when they realized they could not hold on to the giant like ‘Endhiran’ and had to transfer the movie to a bigger production house Sun Pictures.



Though the burdens of further financing were reduced, the financials were not transacted in complete, as Sun Pictures had made an agreement to do only part payments across the four quarters in order to avoid a big liability in their balance sheets.So Ayngaran was still unable to activate the release of ‘Nandalala’.
