The Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010 marching event. Singer Hariharan will perform the ‘Swagatam’ song which will welcome the Commonwealth countres to India with school children forming the ‘namaste’. Oscar winner AR Rahman will perform live CWG anthem “Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto”.Also India’s national anthem Jana Mana Gana will be played at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The tree of knowledge segment will showcase India’s ‘guru shishya’ tradition with folk dancers and musicians. Around 7,000 men, women and children will take part in the opening ceremony which is divided into 6 parts.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be the nineteenth Commonwealth Games, and the ninth to be held under that name. The Games are scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India between 3 October and 14 October 2010. The games will be the largest multi-sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.
