Movie Plot Summary:
Directed by David Lynch's daughter, Jennifer, this is tale of the Naga, a half snake human breed who lives deep in the forest in India. The year is 2008 where American scientist George with his evil intention travels deep to the forest of India to get some snakes for his research. He plans to capture a male python which he does, as he knows when a python is at his weakest - immediately after mating. However, the shape-shifting creature has a mate and she will not stop until she finds him. Starring Mallika Sherawat.

Mallika Sherawat as the Nagin.

Mallika Sherawat News:
During Cinema Online's exclusive interview with the actress via teleconference call to Bombay, India, Mallika excitedly reveals that "Hisss" features a never-before-seen transformation sequence in a film. She explained, "This is such a unique movie because people can actually see me transform into a snake right in front of the camera, without any goofy special effects!" Consequently, she admitted that the film does contain nude scenes of her when she shape shifts from a snake to a human being in the jungles of South India. "No child is born with clothes, right? I had revelations about the scene so I asked the director if there's any way around it, but she completely stuck to her idea saying it was essential to the script for her to be in raw female form."

However, being a snake is no easy task as Mallika struggled while shooting in the jungle, "It was very cold and I couldn't walk on the ground because of the snake costume, so I have to be constantly carried around. The makeup took a long time, I was very dehydrated, and I couldn't pee! (laughs) It was physically demanding. But after seeing the promo, I thought 'This looks really good! She's really dangerous and revengeful'. But while I was shooting it, I wondered 'What have I gotten myself into?! It's no fun playing a snake. I don't want to be a snake!'"

Mallika Sherawat Interview:
Interview conducted on 12 October 2010 via teleconference call to Bombay, India.

Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat stars in the upcoming thriller "Hisss" about the legendary snakewoman (aka Nagin). Directed by Jennifer Lynch of "Boxing Helena" (1993) fame, which incidentally won her a Raspberry award for the worst director in 1994, "Hisss" revolves around a vengeful Nagin (Mallika Sherawat), who shape shifts into a gorgeous woman and goes to the city to hunt for her mate, who has been captured from the jungle by an American. It also stars Irrfan Khan as a cop who has to track her down and stop the destruction she unleashes in the city.
Q: Where are you and what are you doing at this moment?
A: I'm currently surrounded by media and snakes at the "Hisss" press conference in Bombay! I'm doing a lot of promotional activities before the movie's release on 22 October.
.Q: Are you excited? How's the early buzz for the movie?
A: I'm really excited because I think this is such a unique movie, where you can see me transform into a snake right in front of the camera without any goofy special effects. That is what really excites me the most because it's never been seen in any movie before! There have been a lot of superheroes like Superman and Spiderman, but for the first time, people will have an Indian superhero called the Nagin. The snake goddess legend is not only popular in India, but also in China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Japan, so I think we're giving an Eastern superhero to the world.

Q: Are there any nude scenes in the movie?
A: Yes, there are due to the sequence where she changes from a snake to a human being in the mud. No child is born with clothes, right? I had revelations about the scene so I asked the director if there's any way around it, but she completely stuck to her idea saying it was essential to the script for her to be in raw female form.

Q: Would you say that your favourite animal at the moment would be snakes?
A: I would definitely say that because my best onscreen kiss and lover has been with a snake!

Q: The Nagin theme has been very popular in Indian cinema, with more than a dozen movies made on snakewomen, between 1925 and 1990. What made you think that this was the right time to revive that kind of film?
A: The last Bollywood movie made on Nagin was 24 years ago. So much time has passed and this is such a popular Indian mythological subject. It's so ingrained in the Eastern and Indian psyche that I thought it was the right time to bring the Nagin back to India and give a new icon to the world.
Q: Were you at all intimidated because so many Bollywood actresses have played Nagin before. Were you apprehensive at first?
A: Not at all because it was a long time ago and frankly, there cannot be any comparison. They've all been legendary actresses and I feel very honoured to play this role.

Q: What are the difficulties?
A: Physical transformation was the most difficult. We were shooting in the jungle of South India, where it was very cold and I couldn't walk on the ground because of the snake costume so they had to constantly carry me. Moreover, the makeup took a long time, I couldn't go to the bathroom, I was very dehydrated, and I couldn't pee (laughs). It was really, really tough. But after seeing the promo, I thought "This looks really good! She's really dangerous and revengeful". But when I was shooting it, I wondered "What have I gotten myself into?! It's no fun playing a snake. I don't want to be a snake
Q: How was it like working with Irrfan Khan?
A: It was fantastic because Irrfan is a very generous and giving actor. I've learned so much just by being with him on set. He's worked with a lot of international projects namely "Slumdog Millionaire" and "A Mighty Heart" alongside Angelina Jolie. His level of acting is very high and I was actually trying to achieve that level when he kept on challenging me to do my best. There's a very good chemistry between me and Irrfan.
