Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote Loses Financing September 5th, 2010
Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has experienced a financial collapse, which is more than the "hiccup" reported in August, according to Variety.
"The financing collapsed about a month and a half ago," Terry Gilliam said Saturday at the Deauville American Film Festival.
"I shouldn't be here. The plan was to be shooting 'Quixote' right now."
Even so, he still wants to push on with the project.
"Robert Duvall is Quixote, Ewan McGregor is also there, and we are looking for new financing right now," he said.
Terry Gilliam has been trying to make the film for decades. Despite this latest set-back, Terry Gilliam said he still didn't believe in the "curse of Quixote."
"Don Quixote gives me something to look forward to, always. Maybe the most frightening thing is to actually make the film."
Terry Gilliam confessed to a weird feeling of deja-vu on seeing his name on the film. "Whoever that guy was, I envy him, because he had a lot more energy than I do now," he said.
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is in development and stars Ewan McGregor, Robert Duvall. The film is directed by Terry Gilliam.
