X-Men: First Class Begins Shooting
September 7th, 2010

20th Century Fox has started shooting Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, at Pinewood Studios and surrounding locales in London, England.

Its been rumored that some of the first scenes being filmed involve Charles Xavier attending Oxford University debating the mutant phenomenon, and Erik Lensherr dealing with the horrifying events in Auschwitz via a flashback sequence.

Set in the 1960s, the film will show us how James McAvoy's Professor Xavier and Michael Fassbender's Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto first meet and discuss their similar goals of mutants and humans living together as one. Singer revealed that Xavier won't be in a wheelchair throughout the film, although it will show how he comes to be in the wheelchair.

Since the film will be set in the 60s before the original comic books, characters such as Scott "Cyclops" Summers and Jean Grey won't be in the film, although Summers' brother, Alex a.k.a. Havoc, will be in the film, played by Lucas Till.

It was also revealed that Kevin Bacon's villain character will in fact be Sebastian Shaw, which means that, along with the addition of January Jones as Emma Frost, the film will also feature The Hellfire Club, which Singer said was being added since the film will be set in the party atmosphere of the 60s.

X-Men: First Class comes to theaters June 3rd, 2011 and stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Caleb Landry Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.
