London (ANI): Singer Rod Stewart is facing a lawsuit for failing to pay for his wedding suit. Designer Karen Mathews has filed court papers claiming she is still owed more than 5,000 pounds. She has lodged a claim at a small claims court in Los Angeles saying Stewart owes money for the suit she prepared for his 2007 wedding to Penny Lancaster.

"The clothes were never paid for in full and [Rod] kept the rest of the clothes without ever returning what hadn't been paid for," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for Mathews as telling TMZ. Com. Stewart, 65, wed his long-time girlfriend Penny Lancaster, 39, in Portofino, Italy, aboard the yacht Lady Ann Magee.

A spokesman for the singer claimed that Mathews claim is baseless and that she failed to produce the wedding suit on time. "It wasn't produced on time and was ill-fitting and totally unusable. He had to buy a proper suit at the last minute," the spokesman said.
A court date has been set for November.
