Natalie Portman has expressed interest in playing the "edgy" Snow White.

Several months ago, news was circling that Brett Ratner and Relativity Media were developing an edgy 3D reimagining of the Snow White story titled The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.

Now this could just be a rumor, but Pajiba is reporting that Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is considering directing the project and that Natalie Portman has expressed interest in playing the "edgy" Snow White.

The Brothers Grimm: Snow White has not yet been greenlit, so we will keep you posted.

The Brothers Grimm: Snow White comes to theaters in 2012.
