It is the last few days of the FIFA World Cup 2010 and already melancholy is in the air. Millions of people around the world are wondering what they will do with themselves once the tournament ends. But at least there is one spectacular event left to look forward to before the tournament ends – the closing ceremony on 11 July at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Just like the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2010, this event is also going to be a big fun event with celebrities and other artists expected. The closing ceremony of FIFA World Cup 2010 will start at 6:30PM local time. According to FIFA, the Closing Ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is set to be a colourful, celebratory tribute to the tournament, the fans and their experiences in the host country during what’s been a memorable month.
Colombian star Shakira will perform the official tournament anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” Pop star also performed the song at a World Cup concert in Soweto on June 10. The 30-minute long closing ceremony of World Cup Football 2010 will start at 6.30pm at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
The other artists who will perform in today’s closing ceremony of FIFA World Cup 2010 will include multiple Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Slikour, Zuluboy, Abigali Kubeka, Stoan Seate, and Jozi. The closing event will also feature flutist Wouter and admired local traditional group Ihasti Elimphlophe. The other South African artists who feature in today’s gala show will be Theo Kgosinkwe, Nigeria’s 2Face, Ghana’s Samini, Nianell and Afrikaan artists.
