The Ghost Writer Movie Synopsis:"The Ghost Writer" tells the story of a former British Prime Minister, Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan), who is holed up on an island off the Eastern seaboard of the U.S. in midwinter, writing his memoirs. When his long-standing aide drowns, a professional ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) is sent out to help him finish the book. The anonymous ghost writer is quickly drawn into a political and sexual intrigue involving Lang’s wife, Ruth (Olivia Williams) and his aide (Kim Cattrall). Hanging over Lang is the threat of a war crimes trial and a mysterious secret from his past that threatens to jeopardize international relations. The film is based on the Robert Harris novel "The Ghost."

Roman Polanski has reportedly screened his latest film The Ghost Writer at his home in Switzerland.
2 The director, who will not be allowed to attend the film's premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany on Friday, is said to be delighted with the finished product.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, screenwriter Robert Harris said: "I don't know if he is disappointed not to be able to attend the premiere. I imagine he has been to quite a few premieres in his time.
"He was very happy with it, which was wonderful, but of course I am hugely biased."
Polanski, who is under house arrest, is waiting to learn whether he will be extradited to the US to face sentencing for his 1977 child sex case.
