Thanks Ma Bollywood Movie Synopsis:
The Story : Thanks Maa is about a 12 year old street kid named Municipality, while on the run from the reformatory, finds & saves a two day old abandoned baby from becoming the prey to a ferocious street dog. Failing to find any takers among the people whom he deemed responsible and respectable, Municipality takes up the onus of finding the mother of that abandoned baby himself.
Here onwards ensues his struggle in the urban jungle of Mumbai either just four of his friends from the street, Soda (15), Sursuri (10), Cutting (8) & Dhed-Shaana (6) on his side and apparently the whole world against him.
Municipality's rock steady determination ultimately helps him emerge a winner against all the odds as he reaches to the baby's mother but in the bargain, he loses his most precious possession... the flawless & god-like image of a mother he used to see in his dreams. And probably the hope that he'll ever find his own mother come searching for him at the Municipality Hospital where he was found abandoned 12 years ago.

5 mins into Thanks Maa and you are transported to the Means Streets of Mumbai…be
prepared to be bowled over…..or smashed. For all those who have trained their ears to
negate or filter the voices from the streets by plugging in your i-POD or closing those
power windows and switching on that AC full blast. These sounds will pierce your
ears……for me it was sheer delight. Finally a film which did not hold back. Gaand
Faad!!! The sound of Thanks Maa is definitely a winner for me…..the sound of Mumbai.



A true Mumbai film for me in a long long time as far as the lingo goes. I remember
being taken aback when I saw Pavan Malhotra scratching his balls without a worry in
the world in Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro. I always thought such surrender to ones
character only happens in art cinema….none in the so called commercial format had the
gall.
I correct/state/clear myself again….it’s not just crass language or some inane profanity
which gives me the rush…..not just for the heck of it…..if the milieu demands then so
be it and when I came out in the interval…..Irfan proudly claimed…that was the censor
passed version you just saw……no beeps…..no cuts. Indian censor has certainly come a
long way…Irfan has certainly pulled it off. Take a bow for that alone.
Irfan Kamal has gone all out getting his actors and camera down and dirty. Not once
shying away for anything. And in spite of all this. Real locations, real kids from the
street and a tight 30 day schedule…various locations…and all this in SYNC SOUND.
