Movie Plot Summary;;

Rumoured deep within Tasmania's wilderness, an ancient species known as the Tasmanian Tiger is alive and breeding. Zoology student, Nina (Mirrah Foulkes), attempts to breach Tasmania's impenetrable forests and reveal the tiger's existence to be true. Driving Nina's quest is one critical piece of proof: a paw print taken by her sister just before she met with a fatal accident eight years before. But what Nina doesn't know is how Tasmania became the world's most dangerous island in 19th century when the murderous convict Alexander Pearce (aka "The Pieman") broke out of prison only to eat his fellow escapees and was hung for cannibalism in 1824. Soon Nina and her friends discover that in the wild whilst one species may have died out another has thrived - in the form of the Pieman's descendants.Watch online Movie Trailer freeDying Breed Hollywood film.The film Directed by Jody Dwyer
Dying Breed Hollywood Movie Review :

I must admit it must be a little hard to come up with an inbreeding cannibalistic movie that stands apart from itself these days, but I’m glad people keep trying. It isn’t always a bad thing when something comes out that is clearly not going to surprise you, but can still be enjoyable. This Horrorfest entry tries to do just that and a little more. That is where the problem lies.

The opening of the movie explains to us how Australia used to be a prison. It goes on to say that Tasmania was where the worst of the criminals were held. Nobody every escaped the island. Not until Alexander Pierce did it. They called him the “pieman” and he was the first and only person to escape. This is what sets up the story for the movie. We witness the escape, as Pierce actually attacks the guard dogs chasing him by eating into them. He is then cornered by a guard who gets distracted by something in the bushes. Pierce takes this moment to lunge forward and bite out a huge chunk of the mans neck. He then spots the animal that was in the bushes. It is a rareTasmanian tiger . He offers it part of the guard and it takes the meat and runs off. Present day, 100 years later, shows us Matt (Leigh Whannell) speaking with his girlfriend Nina (Mirra Foulkes) on a plane. They are discussing whether or not Matt’s friend who they are going to meet will really help them on this trip.
When they meet Matt’s friend, Jack (Nathan Phillips), Nina is less than impressed. They get in the truck and Jack announces that he has invited his girlfriend, Rebecca (Melanie Vallejo) along. We then discover that Nina is trying to continue her sister’s work on finding the supposed extinctTasmanian tiger. Her sister was out in the same location and was found dead in the water 8 years prior. It was said that she drowned. They all finally get to the island, but discover the locals aren’t too fond of tourists. They get a room and then head out the next day. They take their boat out into the remote regions of the island in hopes of spotting the tiger. Instead they find there is a lot more going out in the woods than some wild animal. They begin to learn the legend of the pieman and witness just what happens to tourists who get too close.
The acting in this movie was actually pretty good. I’m a fan of Whannell and he does a decent job of being the lackey friend in this one. Phillips also does a good job. Vallejo just kept reminding me of a friend of mine, but there wasn’t anything wrong with that. Overall the acting helped keep the movie entertaining.

The effects were decent as well. A few of the action sequences were too overtaken by a shaky camera, but there were a some good moments. There was definitely no shortage of body part props in this one.
The movie was good, but for me it seemed to get in its own way in the end. It kept on dragging out the ending trying to be something different or give us one last surprising twist. This got very tired after the first couple of times and is where the movie lost me a bit. The conclusion was well enough, but getting there sure did take a lot of trouble. In the end, it is once again, another reminder to avoid the locals in isolated areas ,especially rural areas, if at all possible.
