Mallanna is a message oriented movie for the society it is based on corruption, black money and social equity. The romantic scenes between Vikram and Shriya will be an asset for this film. Superstar Krishna played a key role in this flick. Subbulakshmi (Shreya Saran) played role of bubbly college girl and after some instants she fall in love with Vikram and every time she will be behind Vikram to express here love with him but the main story is about why Subbulakshmi follows Vikram whether its love or some thing else? The story deals with Krishna Rao (Krishna), who is working as a CBI joint officer, Vikram is also a young dianamic CBI officer in the same department he deals cases against corruption and black money.The story begins with post box for god in jerusalam. The letters written by the poor folk and dropped in the box will be displayed on the wall by the temple authorities. Once it's up, there's a belief that god will take care of us. Why write to god?.When what they want is not fulfilled, or turned down, poor people usually turn to god, who is the symbol of all their trust and beliefs. The hero, One who considers another's problems as his own and solves them is also like a god.
Versatile actor Vikram has become very popular among the Telugu audiences with his film Aparichitudu. After a long gap, Vikram is playing hero, in a Tamil film Kandhasamy which has been simultaneously made in Telugu under the title Mallanna, with Shreya in the female lead. Mallanna (Vikram) is a CBI officer working in the economic offences wing. He works under a joint director called Krishna Rao (Krishna). Because of his official position, he can find out those who are amassing wealth and Mallanna uses his intelligence to find such money and donate it to the people. For this, he chooses the devotional path as the Hindus are very religious and believe that God would come to their rescue whenever they face problems.He manages to propagate a gossip that whoever faces problems, can write their problem on a chit and tie the same to a tree. Sooner, the person’s problem would be solved. For this, Mallanna takes the help of eight of his friends who are experts in different fields and at the same time, work in one or the other of the economic offences-related departments.
Finally much hyped Chiyan Vikram’s Mallanna is on the roll in theatres. Mallanna lead character played by Vikram, whose main goal is to bring back
black money from overseas bank accounts of rich people and fulfill needs of poor people in india with that money. Vikram’s performance as usual is notorious. Subject for the movie chosen by Sushi Ganeshan looks same as Rajni starrer Sivaji. Team formed by Mallanna in reaching his goal looks same as that in Tagore.
Super hero character played by Vikram in Cock getup is not impressive. Though there seems to be lot of hard work in acting those of kind of scenes, but the scenes are not worthy to watch. Viram not only played protagonist of
the movie, also sang all the songs. Situations at which songs comes in the picture does not create any impact, in fact it disturbs story execution. Lady getup and Old man getups could have been much better. Movie has rich and beautiful locations but director failed to impress audience with his style of making.
As a movie Mallanna lost its tempo in the first half looks OK in the second half.
First half of the movie tries to establish Mallanna character as a super hero for the needy, but Sushi Ganeshan failed in presenting the content. Character played by leading actress shriya is a bad asset for the movie. The character should have been designed in better way by director.
