Defence lawyers representing Dr. Conrad Murray, who faces involuntary manslaughter charges over Michael Jackson's death, have claimed that the King of Pop committed suicide due to financial problems.

The defence team claimed in a pre-trial hearing that Michael Jackson, who died of acute Propfol intoxication, that the singer resorted to 'desperate measures' after facing financial ruin. “The crux of the defence is going to be that Michael Jackson engaged in a desperate act and took desperate measures that caused his death. We believe at the time Michael Jackson died, he was a desperate man in relation to his financial affairs,” Contactmusic quoted defence lawyer Edward Chernoff as saying to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor.

However, the judge denied the request saying, “I'm not going to turn an involuntary manslaughter trial into some kind of an escapade in analysis of the finances in Michael Jackson's entire life. 'Right now this is major deep sea fishing.'”
