Probably only a hermit who lives on the bottom of the English channel hasn't heard yet about the wedding of Prince William and his girlfriend Catherine Middleton. Some people are crazy about the event - buy up all the souvenirs with an image of the happy copuple, others, vice versa, turn up their nose and having an additional day off ahead buy tickets to far countries in order to be as far as possible from London on Friday, April 29th. This way or another, but the British capital hasn't seen such a pother for a long time. Westminster Abbey is now a place where people have pitched their tents 3 days ago to be ready to see the most interesting moments of the ceremony.
First of all a few words about the heroes of the day. William - elder son of Prince Charles and princess Diana, grandson of Elizabeth II, the second in the line of the aspirants for the throne of Great Britain (after his father). He met Catherine Middleton in the University of St. Andrews not far from Edinburgh. Liking grew into frindship and later in love. The official proof of their relashionship became a photo taken in the Swiss Alps in 2004. But in 2007 they broke up to start everything from the new page in some months, and in November 2010, having been together for almost 9 years, they announced the engagement. The Middleton family doesn't belong to the British aristocracy, but once Catherine marries William she will get a title of nobility and a coat of arms.
After graduation Catherine (Kate) Middleton worked for some time in the store of clothes and accessories "Jigsaw" in Dover Street.
Back then she probably didn't think that rather close there was a jewelry store Garrard that had made a ring decorated with a sapphire and diamonds for princess Diana's engagement. That very ring that Prince William gave Kate last year.
Those lucky men who were invited to the wedding ceremony should gather in the Westminster Abbey at 8:15am. At 10:10 William and his brother Harry will leave the royal mansion Clarence House, and go to the Westminster Abbey by a coach. Their trip should take about 5 minutes. (We take London time).
Though the ceremony should start at 11:00 William will have to spend 45 minutes waiting for his wife-to-be in St. Edmund's Chapel inside the Westminster Abbey. Thus he won't see the wedding dress of Kate before the ceremony, even on TV.
William and Harry will go along the Mall that connects Bukingham Palace with Trafalgar Square.
After the wedding the just married will go along the same route accompanied by 24 riders.
And the coach of the queen will be accompanied by 160 horse guards!
But let us come back to the Princes who have just passed the Duke of York Column and turned right ...
... to the Horse Guards Square where a military parade in honour of the Queen's birthday takes place annually.
Then the coach will approach Whitehall street...
...passes the Cenotaph - the main memorial of Great Britain.
And Downing Street - the residence of the prime-minister.
To come to Westminster Abbey at about 10:15.
Prince Charles, William's father should come at 10:42.
Her Majesty the Queen - at 10:45.
At 10:51 Kate should startwith her father from the five-star Goring Hotel to be at Westminster Abbey strictly at 11:00. However in accord with the tradition she can be a bit late.
They will go by a black Rolls-Royce Phantom VI.
11:00 - start of the ceremony that will last a bit more than an hour. Huge screens on Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park will show the events to all who wish to see them. Besides, about 2 billions of TV watchers will see the ceremony held by John Hall, the dean of the Abbey and Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Main TV channels waiting nearby in the vans.
Special tribunes either for important guests or mass-media.
At 12:15 the wedding ceremony will be over and the royal family with the just married couple will go to the Buckingham Palace.
If the weather is fine, William and Kate will go back to the palace by the coach made in 1902 for king Edward II.
But the weather forecast is not too good, so probably they will use this glassed coach of Queen Alexandra.
Near Buckingham Palace everything is ready for rebroadcast.
Special VIP tribunes have been built. The crowd here will be enormous.
At 13:25 Prince and his wife should appear on the balcony of the palace to greet the public, some people have been waiting for this moment for several days spending nights right here, in the square.
At 13:30 the planes of the British air forces will fly over the palace. And the royal banquet will begin. At 15:00 the married couple will go back to Clarence House, and by 17:00 they will return to the palace again for the party arranged by Prince Charles. They will spend their wedding night there and soon go to Kenya for a honeymoon that will last 2 weeks.
Meanwhile many streets of the city are decorated with patriotic flags.
Theme souvenirs are all bought very quickly! All the stamps with the images of the couple have been bought up from the post offices. Most of the pubs will have special menu today. So, this doesn't happen every day! Cangratulations, Will and Kate! Live Happy Long Life together!
