Movie Plot Summary:
A guy and girl try to keep their relationship strictly physical, but it's not long before they learn that they want something more.
The message with movies for 2011 seems to be that monogamy is out and Ivan Reitman’s rare R-rated No Strings Attached will start the charge next January starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. This summer’s The Favor seemed to kickstart the trend as that was about a couple who decide to have a small opening to their marriage. Interestingly enough, Friends With Benefits was originally titled ‘Fuck Buddies’, but we all know how that would have worked for marketing the film. Much like the movie Douchebag did, and do you remember that one?
‘No Strings Attached’ was originally titled ‘Friends With Benefits’ but Reitman changed the name and Will Gluck’s version starring starring Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis and Emma Stone won the title. No Strings Attached gets the last laugh though since it opens January 2011 while Friends With Benefits doesn’t open until next summer.
No Strings Attached is about close friends who want sex without the usual messy relationship that comes with it, and hop into bed with each other hoping it won’t affect their friendship. Think of it as a looser version of When Harry Met Sally, but Sally it less uptight sexually.
Movie Story:
Lifelong friends Natalie Portman (Emma) and Ashton Kutcher (Adam) take their relationship to the next level by having sex. Afraid of ruining their friendship, the new lovers make a pact to keep things purely physical, with no fighting, no jealousy and no expectations. Emma and Adam pledge to do whatever they want, wherever they want, as long as they do not fall in love. The question then becomes, which one will fall first?
