Heat Vision Blog reports that Denis Leary is in talks to appear in the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot.

The actor will portray police captain George Stacy, the father of Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy. In the comic books, George Stacy frequently ran into the web-slinger, and was accidentally killed during a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus.

Since little is known about the script by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent, it's unclear if George Stacy's character will follow a similar path here as the comic books, or if they are taking him in a new direction.

Marc Webb is directing the highly-anticipated project, which will begin filming in December.

Untitled Spider-Man Reboot comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary. The film is directed by Marc Webb.
