Fans can now see Tom Cruise in a smart pilot's uniform. The actor is now in talks with the Paramount Picture as they want to bring back the Top Gun team for the sequel. The studio has already initiated talks with the producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tom Scott, the original team of the movie.

The film Top Gun was released in 1986 with a budget of $15 million and grossed over $3hundred million worldwide. Now the studio not only wants to make a sequel of the film but also change it into a franchise. Tom Cruise played the role of the young Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, and the film showed the character's development as series of events follow in his life after he goes to Navy's Fighter Weapon School.

This time around though Cruise have given a nod to be part of the film is not eager to get on a full-fledged role but do a small portion in the film. The studio is planning to take on-board Christopher McQuairre as the screenwriter for the film, McQuirre has won Oscar and have penned for the project like The Usual Suspects.

So can we now say it is time to clear the screen for Cruise to fly his plane and buzz the siren too?
