James Cameron Wants Louis Leterrier for Fantastic Voyage
October 22nd, 2010

It was reported last night that James Cameron has teamed up with Avatar writer Laeta Kalogridis to pen a new draft of the Fantastic Voyage remake. Now, Deadline is suggesting that Cameron has his eye on Clash of the Titans's Louis Leterrier to direct this 3D adventure.

Fantastic Voyage could begin shooting in early 2011, though 20th Century Fox is still in the process of figuring out a budget. The project is a complete reimagining of the 1966 original, which finds a group of scientists shrinking themselves and sailing a submarine into a colleague's bloodstream. This new version will be shot mostly in CGI once the journey kicks off inside the human body.

Louis Leterrier has already met with Cameron about directing the project. Other directors that have taken meetings on the project include Darren Aronofsky, who is directing X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 instead, Timur Bekmambetov, who has since taken on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Jonathan Mostow.

Fantastic Voyage is in development .
