The Malayalam audience had to go dry with a very lackluster affair, as all the releases this year were of low budget and could not do well at the Box Office. The Muslim viewers also had to end their fasting period with not much big entertainment.
However, this year’s Ramzan, which falls on this weekend, will see the release of four big budget Malayalam movies. These films include the megastar Mammootty’s Pranchiyettan and the Saint, Mohanlal’s Shikkar, Vande Mataram and Elsamma Enna Aankutty by director Lal Jose. They are expected to rock at the Box Office.
All these four superstar movies are likely to go for big releases with minimum 65 theaters screenings. Director M. Padmakumar’s Shikkar has already released in 80 centers on September 9. Mohanlal plays a lorry driver called Balaraman and the film is about a revenge story with some breathtaking fight sequences. It has been released through Maxlab. The other starcast of the movie includes Kalabhavan Mani, Sneha, Samuthirakani, Kailash, Ananya and Lalu Alex.
Megastar Mammootty is having two releases on Ramazan, which is happening after a decade. The first promos of his Pranchiyettan and the Saint have already impressed the viewers. This film directed by Renjith is said to be a satire.
Another big release Vande Mataram is a bilingual action thriller with stars like Arjun, Sneha and Jagadheesh. Henry has produced this movie and T Aravind has directed it.
Lal Jose has directed Elsamma Enna Aankutty, which tells a soft, light-hearted story that revolves around characters essayed by Kunchakko Boban, Indrajith and Ann Augustine.
