Baquba, Jul 12: Al Qaeda outfit in Iraq told its men to marry the widows of its fighters who lost their lives for jihad.
The new fatwa from al Qaeda witnessed around 70 marriages in three weeks in Diyala province east of Baghdad, informed the members of al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, their relatives and associates. Diyala is one among the strongholds of al Qaeda outfit.
Some amongh the new husbands, who were the most dedicated fighters of the group, said they are accepting third or fourth wives, reported The New York Times.
"I had been single and had given myself to an honorable cause," said Ebe Hafsah al-Obeidi who married one widow.
Abu Muhammad al-Zaidi, another activist, said that there would be more than 315 widows in Baquba, Diyala's capital. He himself had three wives, including one widow he married before the fatwa. He added that he plans on marrying another soon.
The jihadi-fighters think that there is nothing honourable than getting married to the widow of a martyr from al Qaeda who spent most of his life fighting the disbelievers and the occupation, added al-Zaidi.
