Radhika Pandit who won the Filmfare award for her stellar performance in Moggina Manasu plays the female lead role as a shy, vulnerable Punya. Punya’s a quintessential simple, shy, conservative girl, who is not at ease with the opposite sex. Neither can she speak with guys, nor does like to. But then along comes Jeeva, who changes her perspective radically. The rule book drawn by her rigid parents is thrown to the winds as she is irresistibly drawn towards Jeeva.
Incidentally, 18th Cross was actually meant to be the Bangalore girl’s launch pad to big screen fame, but unfortunate delays pushed the production schedule back by some time.

Deepak The Shishya fame Deepak plays the role of Jeeva. He is a decent guy who likes to remain in his own world but if he sees something injustice before his eyes he doesn’t mind to pull his muscle. Enjoys company of his friends, works hard and above all loves Punya madly.

18th Cross is director Shankar’s tribute to a haunting memory which has been permanently scorched on his senses. It’s a story based on true incidents back in 2004. It stars Radhika Pandit and Deepak in the lead roles and has veterans like Ramakrishna, and Vinaya Prasad in the cast. The film is completed and the audio was released on 12th Oct 2009 and movie is going to hit the theatres soon.
18th cross itself was at a crossroad of sorts, when midway through the project its producer Chikkanna was no more. That time even Mr. Suresh Gowda (who has financed about 50% of this movie) had to defer 18th cross for financing Raj - The Showman film. Then it was Duniya producer, Mr. T P Siddaraju who came to the rescue of 18th Cross. Siddaraju was especially impressed with the film’s songs and decided to finance the rest of the film.
