For the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema one film conceived by a team force of 10 directors.

Segments bound together by a single concept "yatra". Supported behind the scenes by a committed team of technical talent from the industry.

On the common theme of journeys, each filmmaker presents their cinematic impression of contemporary times in Kerala. The independent narratives integrate when, during these journeys, their characters pass through KERALA CAFE - a quaint railway cafeteria; there by creating a joint mosaic of issues and impressions; in a symbiotic space and time .Kerala CAFE will have one signature song which brings together the behind-the-scenes making of the different films using the footage of the crew.
There is an eleventh element in the project which will be the integration of the ten stories. The story happens in a Railway cafeteria called “ Kerala Café” where there is an interaction among the characters of the different stories. This will be collectively shot by the participating Directors and the cinematography of this portion will be done by Prakash Kutty, an FTII product.

Ranjith is the compiler and the chief architect of the project.

Krala Cafe', the first Mollywood package of assortments of ten shorts to comprise a full length feature, was censored last week. The movie which will extend to around two hours will feature shorts on a common theme of journey, realised by all eminent new generation directors of Mollywood including Lal Jose, Shaji Kailas, B Unnikrishnan, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Revathy, Anjali Menon, Anwar Rasheed, Uday Ananthan, Padmakumar and Shyamaprasad. Different shorts will feature actors like Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Prithviraj, Jayasuriya, and Salimkumar. The initiative conceived, designed and produced by Renjith will get to theatres for this Ramzan festival.

Similar kinds of experiments have happened before in foreign languages with films like Paris, Je T'aime and also in Hindi with films like Dus Kahaaniyam and Mumbai Cutting.
